Tribeca Film Festival 2017: The Ladies at the “Clive Davis: The Soundtrack of Our Lives” Premiere

Posted on April 20, 2017

Darlings, it was both the opening night of the Tribeca Film Festival and the world premiere of Clive Davis: The Soundtrack Of Our Lives, which means the attendees had a unique opportunity to unleash some funky downtown glam on us. Not all of them managed it, however.

Christina Ricci in Gabriela Hearst

Congratulations on your third wedding, darling.

This is a big ol “Meh” to us. It’s pretty enough, but too safe and a bit mature for her.

Jennifer Hudson in Saint Laurent

If we weren’t so sick and tired of seeing her in these super-tiny black dresses, we might actually a bit more open to the cray here. The goth/punk take on the lace isn’t a terrible idea, but the dress is super-basic and too small to handle the concept.

Cynthia Erivo in Dion Lee

Robe-style dresses are on trend right now, but we don’t always love them in practice. She’s got the bearing and the love for dramatic styling that really helps make this work. The color looks spectacular on her and her head styling makes an amazing accompaniment. We’d have rec’d a pendant of some sort, but that’s just us.
