Oh. It’s one of those.
A jumpsuit pretending to be a gown. How tragic.
This is one of those completely f’d-up fashion concepts that tends to rear its head once every other season or so. It has never made the slightest sense to us. You wind up with none of the benefits of a gown, such as sweep, movement, grand lines, and drama, and most of the drawbacks, such as pounds of heavy fabric and limited movement.
Worse, the half that’s a gown? It’s not even a nice gown. It’s a very dowdy and old-fashioned-looking gown. The garment made slightly more sense in the look book, because it’s belted and you get more of a sense that it’s actually a jumpsuit. Here, it just looks like a big ol’ opera gown sliding off to reveal the jumpsuit underneath.
Can you tell we don’t love it? Or even like it?
