Katie Holmes at “The Kennedys: After Camelot” Premiere: In or Out?

Posted on March 16, 2017

This is less an instance of us not knowing what to think of this dress as it is an instance of wondering what all y’all think.

Visual aids:

We, for our parts, think it’s ass. The colors are terrible and the choice of textiles, not to mention the way each were deployed, is awkward. You come at us with lace and velvet, you better have a damn good ground game, so to speak. Especially lace and velvet the color of old suitcase linings.

But we will admit that we were intrigued by the vaguely Art Deco undertones. We think a lot could be mitigated by changing the color story (to almost anything else), lowering the hem an inch, and switching the lace out for sheer panels (which we can’t believe we’re saying).

But really, it’s just an awkwardly ugly dress with a few interesting design elements that weren’t properly developed. That’s our take, anyway. Your mileage may vary.

IN or OUT?

That? Looks like a big ol’ no.
