With the main event out of the way, it’s time to hit the after-parties, darlings. From the A list to the B list – and beyond!
Yeah, that was a little bitchy. Anyway:
Why Miss Lea.
We are as shocked as you apparently are, judging by your facial expression.
This is so demure and covered-up. Sparkly and colorful instead of drop-dead sexy. In other words, this is so not you, dear.
But we really like it.Our first instinct is to say it needs to be fitted to her a bit better. but the more we look at it, the more the loose fit seems to be at least partially the point. We’re not in total agreement on the color. Lo is for it; T is questioning. But it’s shimmery and attention-seeking in a somewhat refreshing way – by focusing on cut and color rather than by just barely covering one’s primary and secondary sexual characteristics.
Look, we’re not prudes. No one cheered louder when Rihanna showed up nearly naked at the CFDAs, but the naked dress red carpet trend has got to reach “played out” status soon, right? We honestly think that Sofia Vergara dress was our breaking point. If experience has taught us anything, this kind of trend will take a long time to die, but it seems to us there’s a concurrent rising red carpet trend of high-collared, long-sleeved gowns with a much more classic and demure feel to them. It may not be a specific anti-Kardashian backlash, but we sure would love to see Hollywood reclaim the classic glamour look for the red carpet instead of continuing the escalating arms race of red carpet nakedness it’s been stuck in for some time.
