Lady Gaga Ditches the Cowgirl Drag for Saint Laurent as she Arrives in Paris

And thank goodness for that, because we don’t think we could’ve handled another Cowgirl Barbie ensemble.

We dub this a low-effort ensemble that nonetheless gets the job done. All she really did was put on a $3000-dollar jacket. It’s a gorgeous and covetable $3000-dollar jacket, but it’s so perfect on its own and so not in need of any further styling that everything else about the look simply fades into the background. That sounds a bit like a criticism – and to be fair, we don’t tend to think relying on one expensive item to make your look really speaks to any style skills – but it was smart to simple let the jacket be the jacket. Restraint isn’t something that comes naturally to Miss Steffi, so it’s admirable to see her deploying it here. Coco Chanel supposedly said that “Elegance is refusal.” Gaga’s refusal to do anything to ruin the effect of this jacket is what makes the look so perfect.
