Emma Stone Complicates Things at the “La La Land” AFI FEST Premiere

Posted on November 16, 2016

Miss Emma’s on the awards track and dressing the part, to which we offer a hearty and appreciative “Attagirl.” Unfortunately, she’s making the same old Emma Stone-style choices, to which we offer our usual shadey and side-eyed “Giiiiirllll…..”

She seems to have a thing for dresses that would be fine if they weren’t about ten percent over-designed. She wore that jacquard lady garden dress the other day  (which, admittedly, was more like 50 percent overdesigned) and now she’s following that up with the fussiest Armani we’ve seen in ages. It’s going to be a long awards season, it seems.

To be fair, it’s not the worst dress ever. It’s just … awkward. The peplum and the shoulder treatment aren’t to our tastes at all, but if you removed them, you’d be stuck with the most generic dress ever. We’d have rather seen the sleeves extended to full length velvet. That might have gone a long way toward pulling the whole look together.

But the greasy hair is a huge NO. We are not going to be convinced on that one.
