This week, as with most weeks in our lives, it’s all about bitching and glamour. We bitch about the Leslie Jones “No one will make me a dress” controversy that erupted this week and how we’re sick of the fashion industry making excuses for this sort of thing. Too many female celebrities have complained about the fashion industry’s indifference to their red carpet needs because they’re not model-sized. And too many times, these complaints come from celebrity women of color. It’s a thing, people.
Then, we bitch about the death of iconic New Yorker and fashion world giant Bill Cunningham, because the world has lost both a unique person with a massive body of work and a unique point of view that celebrated the expressiveness of the common woman and man in their style choices.
Also, we bitch about the fact that ten years have passed since the release of The Devil Wears Prada because we refuse to believe that we have aged ten years since that movie came out. We also talk about its importance, both to us as fashion bloggers and to the fashion industry in general.
And finally, not only do we discuss the new Amazon pilot The Last Tycoon, based on the F. Scott Fitzgerald book and starring Matt Bomer, Lily Collins and Kelsey Grammer, but we also get to sit down and interview the show’s costume designer, Janie Bryant. Attentive kittens know that we’ve been gushing about Janie’s work for years and we’re fairly certain we hold the record for most words written about her masterful Mad Men costume designs. This is the second time we’ve interviewed her for the podcast and it was a joy to chat with her again – especially since we honestly think she may have outdone herself with the costumes for this pilot. Check them out:
Gorgeous, right? And she LOVES to talk about each of these looks.
It’s all here, kittens. Us bitching and us gushing. We have no middle road. We’re all extremes all the time. You know. Bitches.
As we will never tire of saying, thank you all for your support, darlings.
