Queen Helen continues her SLAY tour of the French Riviera.

Helen Mirren is spotted at Nice Airport during the 2016 Cannes International Film Festival in Cannes, France.

Love the dress – or are those separates? The colors and print just sing on her. Love the shades too, because they practically scream “MOVIE STAR.” But Queen Helen, as much as we love you and the majority of this look, we simply cannot sign off on the footwear. Those shoes are a bit too heavy-looking. Something a little lighter and more delicate so as not to fight with the dress would’ve been our recommendation.

Helen Mirren attends the amfAR’s 2016 Cinema Against AIDS Gala at Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc in Cap d’Antibes, France in Temperley London.

This is pretty damn fabulous. No one loves a sparkly gown more than these two queens, but it’s rare to encounter a truly unique and original one. We just wish we didn’t need to see those white straps, not to mention the white lining in the bodice. Wouldn’t it have made much more sense to go with a black lining and bra?

I still haven’t decided if I want to be Queen Helen, Queen Tilda, or Queen Cate when I grow up.

    • I think I’ve settled on Queen Helen, since she looks like she has the most fun.

      • bitchybitchybitchy

The fact that Queen Helen always looks as if she is having fun is one reason her looks almost always sing

  • gotgreyhound

I think the first dress is more flattering to her figure. She looks fab in both, though, naturally!

    • YousmelllikeAnnaWintour

I wish my body looked that good now.

    • BrooklynBomber

I agree–the first is perfect. She wears that second silhouette a lot, and I think it’s awful on her.

  • KinoEye

Oh, the second look is so lovely. What a unique gown. Love the makeup, too.

    • SugarSnap108

Her HEAD is glorious here (more than usual).

  • Bow to the Queen!

  • DyanSwan

Tasteful clapping for the tasteful, but stylish choices.

  • majorbedhead

That second to the last shot is giving me life. I just love her.

    • barbarienne

The very definition of “confidence is always sexy.”

      • ljh

        ALL the upvotes.

  • frannypaul

    Awesome with quibbles.

  • Agree on the first pair of shoes, they really do not flatter her or the dress. But she looks damn good for having just gotten off an airplane. The dress is perfect for her. Love the makeup & hair with the formal gown but I wish the V neck didn’t plunge quite so low. As far as underpinnings, I’d have gone strapless rather than having to decide between white & black. Love the Indian (subcontinent) vibe of the mirrors/discs!

  • Killing it. Fabulousness like that is definitely a #lifegoal.

  • Sarah

Oh her hair looks so cute with that second dress. I don’t mind the white lining – I think it probably lightens the look – but agree about the straps. Lady also has the best shades all the time. So jealous.

  • laura

LOVE the second dress. I actually prefer it with the white lining. It accentuates the cage effect of the skirt, and keeps it from being another sparkly black dress.

    • barbarienne

THIS. If it were a dark lining we would be complaining that it was another damn black dress. I think the white lining was a brilliant idea.

    • random_poster

Love the white lining for the reasons you mention. A strapless bra would have made all the difference.

  • B_C_J

Second dress is gorgeous & more importantly, she looks wonderful in it. I like the white lining because it accentuates the dress details. Hair & makeup are perfection.

  • Joanna

    She’s so refined . . . I think I’ll kill myself.

    • Lorelei_D

Agree! The venue, in this case, is an AIrport, calling for footwear that provides height AND support.

  • Anna

I’m dealing with a METRIC FUCKTON OF INCOMPETENCE at work right now so this is a balm to my shrieking soul.

I do agree with the quibbles.

  • Maxima

She is fabulous- anytime I see a post with her the title in my mind is The Queen.

  • steph

The grey shoes are fantastic with this dress.
Her hair in the 2nd look is Incredible.

  • Ind Prod

I love both dresses, but the first one should be a little shorter and the second one should be a little longer.

  • BendinIntheWind

I think the head styling in outfit #2 is the best she’s EVER looked.

    • Belle239

Her hair is so awesomely fluffy! Love it.

  • I like the light coloured lining/slip, I think it makes the embellishment sing and gives it more dimension, but I wish the straps had been integrated better.

  • Wink

Her shoes are usually my only quibble. She seems to prefer shoes that are ‘substantial’ instead of strappy (like those awful Nudist shoes). And that’s a good thing.

    • Sushi

Yeah. Because she’s 70 years old and in an airport.

  • marlie

I think a black lining might have been better with the second look, but I still think she looks fantastic. I love her hair and makeup. too! I also really like the first look, and I’m going to pretend that I didn’t see the shoes.

  • YousmelllikeAnnaWintour

    She looks AWESOME!!!

  • Glam Dixie

She can usually do no wrong but the skirt on the second dress looks a bit too much like fencing to me and the first look is too busy.

  • This is like the perfume ads for the two new fragrances from Fanfuckingtastica – Fanfuckingtasica Fresh and Fanfuckingtastical

Buying the gift set this Christmas for friends and family.

    • Catherine

      Line me up. I’m there.

  • BizR32

I wish Queen Helen would sprinkle some of her magic dust on ALL the runways!

  • Lexistential

Omg, more Fuckinfantastica magic! I love the floral dress, and though the gown is not to my liking, she looks like she’s having such a great time that no other opinion makes a difference!

  • Nicole

The white lining lets you see the pattern, fits with the fade in the skirt, and brings some light in. Good choice IMO.

  • SugarSnap108

First look: The shoes are suspect, but love the dress.

Second: The white lining, and especially bra straps, are not working. But the dress is lovely, and her hair and face are fantastic.

  • MilaXX

It’s like mama just decided to go to France and slay all the young’uns.
I like the first look but I think he went for comfort over style in the footwear.
I LOVE the second look and actually prefer the white lining, I just dislike the white straps. I wish there was a better way to have disguised the straps.

    • Monabel

There is a case to be made for comfort in footwear. Besides, grey suede.

  • FuhUgh

I NEED that first airport outfit for my niece & nephew’s HS graduation on Sunday…. #wanttobeher

  • mar

That second dress is to die for!

  • She occasionally tends to frumpery in her shoes, but I don’t mind the first pair all that much, since she looks so smashing, otherwise. The bra straps on the gown, though, did leap out at me.

  • Kaonashi

Not sure about the print in the first dress; it’s very busy. Love the second dress.

  • Jo

That red lipstick should be named after her!

  • Lily

I LOVE the shoes in the first series, although agree they might not work with this dress.

I hadn’t really noticed the white straps in the second until they were pointed out.

    SLAY you lady QUEEN. SLAY

  • BobStPaul

I think she looks great in the second dress but I have to say I pretty much hate the first outfit. Assuming it’s separates and not just an ill-fitting dress, the top with a solid color bottom – either skirt or trousers – would have worked much better. It’s simply too much print as is.

  • Tarquin

I personally think first dress is hideous; a really terrible combination of colours.

  • AmyO

    Bowing down to the Queen!

  • Terri Terri

She’s faboosh! But I’m alarmed by the reappearance of the SJP eyeliner. Regrettable.

  • evave2

She is such a wonderful model for these clothes. Love the print, love the windowpane second look.

  • Jingles

I can’t even be neutral about her. I adore her and I think she slays every time she’s on a carpet.

This is senior years goals for me someday. Love it all.

  • Sushi

Cut her some slack on the airport shoes.
What’s a 70 year old supposed to wear while traveling? Stiletto heals?

  • Anniegolightly

Want! And wish I looked as good as Ms Helen.

  • Sophie

I love the hair she’s sporting in the second look. And while the dress in the first look isn’t really to my taste, she looks great in it.

  • quiltrx

Love that gown. I think the white lining is okay for the bodice because the gown seems to be ombre-ing as it goes up, so to speak. But yes, the straps are REALLY distracting.

  • Shouldercat

Perfection. I actually find the bra strap lines call back to the vague grid pattern in the skirt. Perfect symmetry.

  • JynxTheCat

JEEEEEEBUS she looks so fantastic in that airport shot. GOOD LORD WOMAN!

  • finisterre

I hope this doesn’t come across as weird, but I love that she does cleavage now and again. She’s like a reminder that you can still have fun and feel proud of your body even when you’re outside the five-minute Hollywood fuckability window, but she also doesn’t care what we think (or gives that impression, anyway) so doesn’t come across as hungry, just Helen. Love her.

  • NG

Got to dissent. Other than the jewels, the second look is ridiculous. Looks like she spilled bleach all over the front of her black gown and ended up with some dirty gray color. And that hair says prominent politician’s wife.
