And she is serving… hold on, we have to get this right in order for you to feel the whole thing. She is serving a “White caped palazzo matte crêpe Jumpsuit featuring a guipure bodice embroidered with silver bullion, crystals, pearls and petals.

And the most impressive part? She’s not only pulling off this elephant-panted bridal superhero ensemble, she is WERQing the shit out of it like only Effie Trinket herself possibly could. She looks impressively amazing.

  • MissMeow

Playing Effie Trinket was the best thing for her, girlfriend knows when and how to serve up the DRAMA!

    • Lucía Gavello

I agree. She consistently puts in the work in WERQ, I don’t think I’ve ever seen her half-ass anything since she started the first Hunger Games poledance.

    • berkeleygirl

Effie Trinket? Have you not seen her in Love & Mercy? She should have been handed the Oscar.

  • paginatrix

Love her. (And she’s the best thing about the Pitch Perfects.)

    • AnneElliot

Agreed! AND she directed the second one, which is even more impressive.

  • Frank_821

No I cannot FUCKING EVEN…that’s some fierce design. The bodice is breathtaking and she’s working for sure

    • Nancy Arseneault-Heald

I was gasping before I even noticed they were pants.

  • Kaonashi

    She looks amazing!

  • N

She looks beautifully regal but I can’t help but feel a tad bored, this is a little bit too ‘Royal Wedding attendee’.

  • NG

Sorry, I can’t get into it. She looks like a bride someone awkwardly draped a white silk robe over. The old lady hair is killing me.

    • livesarah

This might look more smashing on her a decade or two from now, but as impressive as the construction and tailoring is, I prefer almost everything else she has ever worn!

      • NG

She is usually one of my red carpet faves, especially because she isn’t afraid of color and likes a bit of drama.

    • solstice1119

agreed – the hair looses it for me – too precious

  • Karen B

She’s got the poise down pat, but I can’t sign off on built-in pasties.

  • CO Gal

Steffi, THIS is how you do a winter white jumpsuit. Aca-mazing.

  • MK03

Elizabeth Banks has done the impossible: She has made me like a palazzo jumpsuit.

    • CT14

I didn’t even realize it was a jumpsuit!

  • I don’t even like it, but you’ve sold me, completely.

    Lizzie always brings it. Dayum.

  • Aleks

I love her. I love that she was cast as Effie. She has become a real world Effie.

  • Lily

Bringing the drama. Although, I think I’d be a bit annoyed having to pull a cape around behind me all evening long. She is WERKING it.

  • Tanya Wade

In another dimension, some of us pictured Effie as the heroine of the Hunger Games. Amirite? Also: “guipure.”

    • anyess

Don’t know much about the Hunger Games but I do think Effie is the heroine. So you’rerite.

  • marlie

This isn’t even one of my favorite of her looks, but she still looks fantastic. This is SUCH her look. Also, OMG, THAT RING.

    • Shawn EH

Alfred Hitchcock blonde ice queen. I’m frozen just seeing her.

      • anyess

More regal than Princess Grace of Monaco, herself.

  • Gatita

Eh, not feeling it. But props for sticking the landing while Gaga shot for the same look twice and missed both times.

  • Shannyn Marie

    Love her for her fearlessness

  • lamamu

This look dovetails perfectly with the Hollywood Power Player image she’s been cultivating over the last year. GET IT, GIRL.

  • SewingSiren

    A little too Elvis.

  • KateShouldBeWorking

Palazzo jumpsuit?! Just make it a damn gown!

    Banks looks great.

  • Janet B

    She’s selling it.

  • Little_Olive

Lol it’s Kim Kardashian’s dream, everything she loves in one single clothing item!

(And its actually kinda cool and Miss Banks deserves major major props, yes).

  • Sh-Sh-Sugartown

  • abkells

  • Anniegolightly

Why is my first thought “how can she go to the bathroom in that thing?”

    • ladybane

Handmaidens. A pair of identical handmaidens in identical crisp little white mini-dresses and tight little topknots.Who also double as her sidekicks when she is fighting fabulous crime.

      • SunDevilWitch

All my upvotes for this to be real.

  • Diane

wow!!! this could have gone very wrong but its so very right !

  • Lizzy

I genuinely hope she didn’t have ANYTHING to drink that day……. no way that’s going in the bathroom easily.

  • lundibleu

Wow! This is almost like a “screw you, Gaga, THIS is what you do with elephant legged pants. Suck it”

  • A_guy01

Miss Lizzie would like to invite all you thirsty bitches to EAT SHIT, however don’t eat it anywhere near her pure white ensemble or she will FUCKING END YOU.
    Love you. Mean it.

  • Jacob Daniel

I don’t know how I LOVE that bodice so much and how the palazzo pant/cape combo can work so well, but they do. It is perfection.

  • Thom

Sometimes, the translated description feels a bit disorganized: “White caped palazzo matte crêpe jumpsuit featuring a guipure bodice embroidered with silver bullion, crystals, pearls and petals.” Like, I need a breath somewhere in “white caped palazzo matte crêpe jumpsuit”. Can’t we call this a “caped palazzo jumpsuit in matte white crepe”?

And I loved Fug Girls’ knock on it, that the more they stare at the guipure nipple shields, the more it looks like toppings on a medium pizza. But yes, this is really lovely, and only Effie could WERQ this.

  • ashtangajunkie

This is what my fairy godmother looks like.

  • alyce1213

I disagree. Granted, the top is beautifully done, she is gorgeous and yes, she’s owning it. But that is an Aimee Semple McPherson costume she’s got on.

    • makeityourself

Yes it is. And the hair is really bad.

  • Daisy Walker

Guess I’m the odd (wo)man out, but I think she looks awful. Hair is aging as hell and that outfit is hiddy. Love her, but only love her ring from this look.

    • Nope. I agree. Bleccch.

      • Daisy Walker

Yay! Let’s go stand in the corner, roll our eyes at everyone else, and drink.

    • Tatiana Luján

      Completely agree.

  • Erica

  • greymain

  • OrangeChia

Take off the cape and I’m all aboard.

  • James Wurm

The humor is why I walked in, the raw vernacular is is why I stay.

  • Scimommy

Jimmy Choo shoes? Okay, if you say so.

  • Ssquared1105

She’s got the same thing going on as January Jones- a gorgeous face that can balance out FASHION- but does it correctly.

  • NBG

How did she even? She looks diva-tastic AND comfortable. And she walked in the VF Party wearing an effing cape. Gurl!

    • ladybane

I wish I was allowed to wear a cape.

    • SunDevilWitch

“Nomination? The nominees WISH they were this fabulous.” – Effie’s inner monologue.

  • ladybane

She does look like an elegant bridal superhero, I mean that in the most fabulous way.

  • steph

When does a jumpsuit with palazzo pants work?
    When it looks Like That!

  • Kris

“I may not be nominated for anything, but hell I’m going to look it!”

  • LadyVimes

I unabashedly love this cape trend. MORE CAPES.

  • AlisonHendryx

I gasped when I saw this the first time… LOVE. IT.

  • Tee

    Love her.
    Love everything about her.
Want to be her for Halloween.

  • VCR1

I didn’t realize she was wearing pants! I think that’s why they work so well. They’re so wide they look like a gown.
She looks impeccable. Beautiful jumpsuit, especially the bodice and cape.

  • boingboing

I appreciate the regal high drama of this look, and she is indeed werq-ing it, but I feel like it’s a little much for the Vanity Fair party. Isn’t that supposed to be a boogie down til’ dawn and pass out on the tables kind of fete? I’d be afraid of someone puking all over my palazzo.

  • Mary Elizabeth Poytinger Baume

she looks like i cant wait to be her.

  • bananafish

I don’t know… white lace tends to put me to sleep, and it is certainly not a good color for her.

  • cousinelizabeth

White caped palazzo matte crêpe Jumpsuit featuring a guipure bodice embroidered with silver bullion, crystals, pearls and petals.” Also it has pockets. Hate this cape thing but she looks fabulous.

  • oneWEIRDword

    Wow! Omg, that RING!

  • hillmeredith

Meg Ryan hair, but by making this work Miss Lizzy has earned a permanent place in the pantheon.

  • BlackCatBitch

    WOW! flawless !!!! stunning !!

  • GillianHolroyd

(psst, that top photo is flopped)

  • You know, after seeing her in this, I think after a good hair dye job or wig, SHE could play Jackie Kennedy. She has the bearing. And this outfit proves it.

  • Kimberlini

OK I’m going to be nitpicky and say that it doesn’t look so good from the side. From the back? The Pope in lace?

  • jif

Love her, love this on her, didn’t realise it wasn’t a caped gown, and don’t care. Spectacular. Also, that hair!

  • macaroni

I can’t help but wonder what she does when nature calls (I have a tiny bladder), but this is FIERCE.

  • AnneElliot

I have an irrational hatred of lace, but I can’t hate this. She looks great.

  • kittyvscupcake

This is so crazy, it just might werq

  • redvelvetbonsai

A cape AND palazzo pockets? Is this what heaven looks like?

  • Imasewsure

I think the look is a bit too much for her, although it is kind of cool…

  • SunDevilWitch

Loving the 70’s political wife hair. Everything about this should make it tragic but I Love It All.

  • 3gardenias

I think this ages her. I see this more along the lines of Jane Fonda.

  • Bow down!

  • those are pants? ~wow~
also, the strategic placement of flowers over her boobs are kinda distracting, but overall effect is fierce nonetheless. love.

  • Lilyana_F

    Bowing down… This is amazing!

  • Judih1

I don’t like it. Looks way too mature , grand diva for someone her age. Put it on Helen Mirren, Judy Densche or some one like that. The only youngish person her age I can kinda see wearing it would be Tilda.

I always mix her up with the mom from Modern Family.

  • Tatiana Luján

I think it looks bridal and boring and her hairdo is stiff.

  • Rebecca Clifford

This looks great on her. Damn! The hair is perfect. I am so getting a late 60s grande dame of Hollywood vibe in this and that’s a damn good thing.

  • diane_g

She could easily play some form of royalty on film. This is beautiful on her.

  • KM Senate

Now, THAT is how you wear and werq huge white elephant pants, Lady Gaga! Snaps!

  • Byodo-In

I guess if you have to do nearly nude with strategic flowers over your nipples this is the way to do it, but the heaviness of the embellishment is not flattering to her waistline.

  • yayito83

I gasped at sight of this!

  • MannahattaMamma

I love her. Smart, beautiful, talented, funny.

  • Aunt Kiki

  • A Shiny O’Connor

    Serving. Werqing. Killing.

  • cocohall

I love her style and I love her wacky personality even more. Very few drop dead beauties like Ms. Banks are also so hilariously funny. She is my favorite thing about the original Pitch Perfect. This look is a personal best which is saying a lot as she nearly always looks fabulous.

  • paintedfish

amazing! so sorry to all the future First Ladies because Effie here took the best inagural gown ever!

  • Sanglots longs

I don’t love this outfit at all, but her wearing skills are unparalleled.

  • JAHansell

It seems like it’s been decades since there has been anything truly new in fashion – everything is a throwback to an earlier age. But this looks so inventive (without being self-consciously “avant garde” or “futuristic” like a Project Runway challenge.) It’s beautiful.

  • Judy_J

Pardon me while I pick my jaw up off the floor. She looks amazing. Chic and classy and sophisticated and polished. I could go on, but you get the idea.

  • Jill

LOL, I love you, T & Lo. NAILED IT!

  • KittieLynnNYC

Sorry, not a fan. Even with the somewhat sheer bodice, I find this to be sort of aging on her.

  • YousmelllikeAnnaWintour

They are making a Pitch Perfect 3? Huh. Love that ring.

  • crash1212

  • quiltrx

This is gorgeous! But there is NO way I would wear that much drag-around white at a party. I’m sure it was ruined by the end of the night.

  • tereliz

I’ve said it before when she managed to rock a jumpsuit, and I’ll say it again: I fucking love this and I don’t care who knows it.

  • GoddamnTheseElectricSexPants

Impeccable. Capes are like the anti-choker, they make every outfit look better.

  • nycfan

Lady Gaga must be irritated how well this works compared to her own elephant leg pants/dress ensemble at the Oscars … or maybe not.

  • CelandineM

Bowing down! Gaga, take notes for next time, this is what your Oscar outfit should have aspired to.

  • lucasuk82

January Jones should try her stylist.

    • Jessica Goldstein

I could not agree more. But Elizabeth Banks misfires so infrequently I’m thinking she has a strong sense of personal style informing her choices.

  • LOVE!

  • aslish

Wow just wow! It took me sometime to realise that this is a jumpsuit. I’d like to know how one pees with this on.
