I swear we’ve seen her in this exact dress a hundred times. She looks good, though!

    • eclare

I think the mermaid silhouette is slightly different (very slightly), but otherwise I agree completely. The color is great, but color seems to be one of her strengths.

    • BayTampaBay

She looks really good. She may have worn this dress 100 times but if I looked this good I would wear this dress 100 times too!

Make-up, hair & jewelry are perfectly on point!

    • V No Privacy

I mean, this look is the very definition of Kate Winslet Red Carpet Looks. But the color is gorgeous. I would have loved for her to go up a size and then tailor it down as it looks just a squidge too tight. If she needs a place to put those earrings, my jewelry box has some extra space…..

    • SophieCollier

Exactly what I was going to say.

    • Nancy Arseneault-Heald

She likes what she likes, and she’s consistent, I’ll give her that.

  • Karen B

Stop the presses! Kate Winslet wore something groundbreaking, earth shattering, and interesting….

    (bazinga)

  • shirab

Great color, great figure, nothing earth-shattering, go up a size. (Feel free to cut and paste that assessment and attach it to any photo of Kate on the red carpet.)

  • Jackie4g

    This is perfect.

  • Puggermeg

As a lady of a similar shape to Ms. Winslet, I have to say that I would probably do the same thing as her – find a reliable silhouette, embrace royal jewel tones, and just feel confident. The RC game is not for everyone … and she always looks professional and like she is ready for a glass of wine at the end of the night! 😉

    • lexilexi

Yes! The NYT had a brief article/slide show about her style choices.. she knows how to dress for her, and that’s all that counts.

      • anonylind

I read the same one, and she (or her stylist – can’t remember) admitted to choosing the same shapes all the time.

        • Rhonda Shore

I read that too, and the stylist said that sometimes Kate figures it out without her help. I don’t have an issue with Kate’s style — agree that she always looks good, albeit a bit same-y.

        • Beardslee

Figuring out what silhouette looks good on you and sticking to it is a basic element of good personal style. It may not be flashy, but kudos to Kate’s outfit.

          • livesarah

Especially for those of us who aren’t built like a mannequin. I often find her choices a bit uninteresting, but they usually work very well for her.

    • HomeOfficeGirl

If she’s just change up her hair style from RC appearance to RC appearance, I think it would help the interest factor without straying from the dress shape that works for her.

      • GemFemme

Yes, I’m tired of the aggressively pulled back look with her hair.

    • Donna Tabor

That sort of Art Deco architectural look is great for her, and contrasts with her curves. I love the juxtaposition.

    • Lime

For me, if she doesn’t want to play the game, it’s OK. She has found her female version of tuxedo, so why she shouldn’t use it? It’s not like we yell at men for wearing always the same (well, we sometimes do, but still).

    • Karen B

But we’re here to judge fashion/styling. From that perspective, she’s boring.

      • Puggermeg

Boring, sure, but she is always polished and professional, which is a far cry from some of her colleagues. She is fully executing the duties of her chosen profession in a way that works for her. I respect that not everyone can be a Cate or a Rooney … and I far prefer Kate’s preference for looking really mature and refined, than someone who looks like a mess just because she is an “artist” and cannot be bothered.

      • Lime

I somehow find it interesting and thought provoking that we could line her up with the men at the event and say the same criticisms: a bit tight, hem too long/short… and just that. Not that I want fashion drama to end, but it’s cool that somebody manages to stay away in a quiet and professional way.

      • beckly

Like some others I don’t want to be too judgy of her strategy because it works and it’s a beautiful dress but you know what? If she had on a striking magenta lipstick to complement the green and lift the darkness she would hit this out of her ball park. Edit: Plus some wild curls!

    • jilly_d

      here, here!

  • Buellie413

    She looks lovely, but SNOOOOOORE.

  • Anna

It’s a great colour for her, but this is practically office wear. Could also benefit from going up a size.

  • Bland Gland

She’s so lovely. She can do better, but she probably won’t budge now from the same look she’s been sporting for the past 5 years.

  • tereliz

The more things change, the more they stay the same. I wish the color was more emerald.

    • Amber J

Same. A really saturated emerald green would be lovely on her.

    • numenah

ITA. The color is drab, as is her makeup.

  • teensmom99

I like this–while this is in her wheelhouse, there are slight changes which really update the look.

  • It’d be so much nicer if she hadn’t worn this 40 times before.

  • Apocalipstick Now Redux

I would love this if it didn’t look like it was made out of cotton twill. Put this in a shimmery fabric and I’d love it.

  • Mary Elizabeth Poytinger Baume

wow the drag queen they got to do the kate winslet drag nailed it.

  • Gatto Nero

The NY Times just ran an article about how she sometimes does without a stylist and praised her consistency. That’s one way to look at it.

  • cocohall

I love the neckline of the dress. But she looks like a producer of the film, not a star. There’s nothing wrong with her look; but she definitely is choosing professional over glamorous. Maybe she really doesn’t give two fucks, and I can’t blame her if that is how she feels. But there is a part of me that wonders twenty years down the road, if she’ll look back and think “why didn’t I have a bit more fun?”

  • RussellH88

She loves that CEO in a Sci Fi movie neckline.

  • Tarquin

    She looks very athletic.

  • Bernd

Nothing new on the Winslet front. She looks lovely, as always

  • clatie

I love this. Kate, please share with us your foundation garment secrets because there’s nary a bump or a bunch in sight.

  • Great colour – but no wow factor alas.

  • Fat White Cat

    Celebrity Basic.

  • She really has a fondness for those little cap sleeves. And that dark green is a good color for her.

    • paginatrix

The little cap sleeves ruin it for me. They make almost everyone look blocky and flatter almost no one’s upper arms. I don’t understand them at all.

  • DeniseSchipani

Love the color. The way she’s standing in some poses, she looks like she has been picked up and put down where she is. Like she can’t possibly move on her own. Kate, I love you and don’t worry; you can breathe after you get home.

  • ovarB

She’s ascending to the likes of Meryl Streep in the way of award shows and red carpets. She’s won her statues and will probably will win more and for that, she doesn’t need to play the game.

  • Pennymac

She know what works for her. And the color is gorgeous. Not a body snark, but I think she’s spanxed to within an inch of her life–the lines of this well fitted dress are pristine. I bet she couldn’t wait to breathe normally and have a glass of wine in sweat pants at the end of the night. (Okay, I may have just projected my life into hers for a moment, but still)

  • Glam Dixie

    This is her ‘Of Course’

  • Ms. L

    Perfect(ly boring)!

  • ashtangajunkie

    Bit tight, but otherwise boring.

  • Janet B

    Her version of a tuxedo.

  • boweryboy

    She does boring well.

  • happygolucky7

Winslet. I love you. I do. Also, you look great. BUT WOULD IT KILL YOU TO WEAR A DIFFERENT DRESS ON A RED CARPET FOR ONCE? For your fans? Really?

  • Grumpy Girl

I find the hairdo and lack of lipstick the egregious, bore-ifying elements here. The dress, while non-surprising, plays well to her body, so she should have something softer with her hair and more colorful on her lips.

  • Now in green.

  • Sekhmet6

    That will do…again.

  • SugarSnap108

I know this rates an “of course,” but she looks beautiful, and I can’t get mad at that.

  • Tanya Wade

So tasteful and boring but the body is pretty much shutting it down.

  • Imasewsure

This is the way to do your job on the RC and kind of DGAF at the same time… it’s beautiful, it’s dull, but professionally on-point

  • She’s been on my irrational love list since December 19th, 1997 so I guess while this dress is a little “done”, I like it nonetheless.

  • frangipani

i wish she wears something so different during the Oscars..a Reem Acra or even a Marchesa will do!

  • Shawn EH

She must have six of these in six different colors, right? Not that it’s not flattering, and better than when she went the overly brocaded British Easter gown look.

    • MilaXX

At least. AT this point you could show me 5 award season dresses of her and couldn’t tell one from the other. The lone exception would be the year she was nom’d for Titanic. It’s boring!

  • berkeleyfarm

It is rather basic but she looks great! Happy to see something Not-Crazy and flattering.

(I’d echo the “size up” comments.)

  • B_C_J

Not earth shattering but absolutely tasteful.

  • Froggae

I like this dress a lot, but OMG it’s basically a Kate Winslet uniform at this point. It’s like she orders the same dress in different colors.

  • KittieLynnNYC

Am I crazy, or has she worn this exact same dress before?

  • Tatiana Luján

Beautiful color. I wish she wore her dresses a bit less tight.

  • Lisalady161

    Boring Kate, boring.

  • colleenjanel

Dear Kate … nude lips are SOOOO 2015! You’re allowed to enjoy color now!

  • KTBSN

Perfunctory. Feels like I’ve seen this a million times on her.

  • alyce1213

Of course. She knows what she’s doing, she looks good, but — of course.

  • MRC210

She looks lovely as always, but … it bugs me a little to see someone wearing a watch on the red carpet, jewelled or not. I know, basically this is a business event for these people but still … a watch doesn’t say “fun”, it says “gotta keep track of time, things to do, places to be” and it doesn’t belong with an evening gown.

  • YousmelllikeAnnaWintour

I really like this dress but I wish she had gone up a size.

  • YousmelllikeAnnaWintour

I loved the little hug she and Leo exchanged when he won. 🙂

  • MzzPants

It’s her dress…BUT…in a great color with interesting design at the neck and sleeves. Win.

  • kittyvscupcake

No, this is a lazy look. Id love to see her in some other silhouettes. This style always seems like it’s too tight and she cant breathe.

  • Great color is all I can say.
    Except…I hate those earrings.

  • Corey Ann

I’d rather see this dress than some of her crazy choices pre-2000 or so. She know what works and what doesn’t and I don’t find anything wrong with that.

  • Kristin

Seen it seen it seen it.

  • Deb Morrissey

Can we take it away from her and send it to Christina Hendricks?

  • Winnie

I think if she ever were to wear a pattern, she’d suddenly combust.

  • Kaonashi

I swear she has a dress like this in every color for every occasion.

  • Nice

  • At this point I think she’s just dying old dresses and cutting different necklines.

    • A_guy01

Thrifty Kate! Seriously though? I really hope she is and inside her head all the thinks is “…and you dip-shits will STILL photograph it. Bahahahaha!”

  • jen

    Zzzzzzzzzzz.

  • DrMomLovesLife

Neckline broadens her shoulders, but color is absolutely to die for on her.

  • GillianHolroyd

Haaaaaaate the color. Faded evergreen, that’s what you wear in the woods, not to an awards gala.

  • Byodo-In

Not THAT is what fit is all about!

  • DesertDweller79

Since Kate has about a thousand of this exact dress, she can just ship it to me. I love the dress, and the color is amazing. It is boring on Kate Winslet, however *I* would look sensational!

  • oneWEIRDword

    Perfection!

  • ftbttmgrl

I love the color and the earrings and now that its been pointed out to me how sexist it is to ding her for sticking to the same formula over and over I’m going to be quiet about the rest. Lovely.

  • Presumptuous Insect

So dull, so very dull. Always the same with this one.

  • E. D.

I don’t think that color is great on her and the waist is a bit tight.
