First, let’s state that this is one of her best red carpet looks in years. Maybe even one of her Top Five. The face and hair are gorgeous and the jewelry is ridiculously fabulous. The gown flatters her tremendously by being simple and elegant. We’ve been imploring her for as long as she’s been our imaginary friend to keep it simple for herself and this dress is the perfect illustration as to why, as far as we’re concerned.

We do have critiques, howevs. First, we wished it could’ve been in practically any color but black, which threatens to tip it from “simple” to “basic.” Second, we’re not feeling that strap detail, which is somewhat similar to Charlize Theron’s. Granted, the dress needs something to keep it from being generic, but we’re not convinced this is the right detail to make it pop.

Still, the overall effect is pretty fab.
