My mother had that exact thing in the late 70s. But hers was hanging in the living room with a giant plant in it.

    • Tiff79

I came on here to say the same thing! She look’s exactly like my mom’s macramé plant hanger, only without the giant beaded owl ours had.

      • RedRaven617

I’m so glad someone else said it first!

    • librarygrrl64

My mom MADE one of these in a 1970s macrame class. Nope.

      • Hell, I made several! Someone on her team needs to be purged for this.

    • KittieLynnNYC

      YEP…that’s it!

  • Kbear

She looks beautiful as always – but that dress looks like a really itchy macramé project.

    • Nancy Arseneault-Heald

      It is bulky as heck.

  • Anna

She is the prettiest hanging plant I’ve ever seen!

    • David Kresner

      She’s a spider plant.

  • Claire

The dress is interesting, but the color is beyond blah.

    • Sekhmet6

      The color is oat meal.

  • Sekhmet6

Someone earned their merit badge in knot tying.

  • Lisa Roberts

I think this dress would look horrendous on anyone else – but yet she is pulling it off. She’s magical.

  • Mrs. Julien

    It looks so scratchy!

    • sundaynightaddict

All I can think about is how horrible her sensitive inner arm skin bits must feel. I once wore a sequined dress that gave me arm rash within an hour.

  • B_C_J

The lady & her stylist certainly understand the concept of perfect fit. This is very pretty on her. The bracelet is fabulous,

    • bitchybitchybitchy

Ms. Moneypenny is killing this poledance. Love this look on her.

    • Carly Clement

they are able to dress her in interesting but still chic and perfect for her!

  • EEKstl

I love this and I get that it’s string-colored and all that, but I do wish it were in a different (string) color.

  • Imasewsure

I dig this even if it is macrame… just wish it had been in bright gold thread instead of the classic plant holder jute

  • Tanya Wade

She can even make rope look good.

  • mickiemonkey

It’s crazy and it widens her middle but she is working it and looks gorgeous.

  • MilaXX

Very few could make this work. Go Naomie!

  • LostInThrace

That dress looks like tripe. Or some freakishly strange exoskeleton. Either way. Ew. The dress gets a major thumbs down from me.

  • Belle239

Very interesting looking dress and the more I look at it, the better I like it. Fits her great, too.

  • eowyn_of_rohan

Sorry I’m not home right now, I’m walking into spiderwebs, so leave a message and I’ll call you back…

  • DuBey2

    No no no.

  • Gatto Nero

    Macrame project?

  • GemFemme

It doesn’t do a whole lot for her figure. It just sort of hangs there.

  • Audrey Lee

I actually really like this. It has a Dia de los Muertos vibes which is kinda cool. Plus it looks like I could make it at home, which amuses me to no end.

  • Ssquared1105

All good things have to come to an end sometime.

  • I know she’s exhausted, she’s done metalics, bright color, flesh toned, short, long, etc., etc. They need to give her 72 hours off to refresh and start anew. We all need a break, no?

  • ThaliaMenninger

I have a new kitty and all I can think about is how much fun he would have climbing her macrame Jacob’s ladder dress. And the dress would probably be better for being shredded by kitty claws, too.

  • another_laura

What the heck are they smoking at Balmain? Wait, wait, given the distinct 70s vibe this is giving off, I think I know …
Not even Naomie Harris with her superior dress-wearing skills can make this work.

  • Kristin

I think a really crafty sailor with a yearning for couture and a lot of left over rope made this

    • Monabel

      In a good way, right?

  • Kaonashi

Wow. She even makes Balmain look good.

  • PeggyOC

Nope, nope, nope. Looks like she tried to make a dress out of a bunch of face-huggers from Alien.

  • This should go in the dictionary under Balmain. Kim K wants it next.

  • Janet B

    Obliterates her figure.

  • Marceline

Didn’t macrame go out 30 years ago?

  • RC

The dress is blah, but I NEED that cuff.

  • Eric Stott

Can she possibly sit down in this?

  • This is hitting that stupid fear. The one I can never remember the name of, the one about fear of holes. The one that you NEVER, EVER GOOGLE. Yea, this dress should be one of those google images.

    • kimmeister

      Trypophobia.

  • stellavision

    That is one tortured textile.

  • LibKat

She finally found the limit to her ability to elevate a horrible dress.

  • joancarol

I found something like this in my garage–a snake shed his skin and left it hanging off a step ladder.

  • It’s interesting, but it’s so thick/stiff (insert dick joke here) that it’s obscuring her figure.

  • appliquer

    Macrame place mats dress.

  • nannypoo

    A new use for twine.

  • rubyclaire

How can she walk in that thing? I’m imagining tiny little baby steps.

  • Apocalipstick Now Redux

    No.

  • Mona_Visa

I love Naomi for not choosing something boring and expected. This dress has wit. And she looks great in it!

  • Beto

That’s a macramé project, beautifully done I must say, but oof! Also, I wonder how it is in the back? Did she really managed to seat comfortably on that thing?

  • Sanglots longs

Oh, Naomi, you are not a spider plant in 1975!

  • Freynika

How very… Mayan for a Mexican premiere. If I were Mexican, I might be a little offended.

  • rkdgal

My god, she really CAN wear anything. Jesus, she’s beautiful.

  • Shannyn Marie

The macrame resurgence is unstoppable, but this version adds bulk which is criminal cuz she’s lovely

  • HelenofTroy

Somewhere in Queens there is a sad plant sitting on the floor of my abuelita’s apartment, cold and naked

  • Greenlee Rose

It’s nice to know that Balmain keeps the good shit from Kim Kardashian.

  • frannyprof

Ever since the Kardashianization of Balmain, I find it hard to like the brand. Even so, I don’t think this is great on her.

  • GillianHolroyd

but… but… *twine*? so rough on the hands. Am forced to admire the pattern though and I think she is pulling this off.

  • MyFavoriteColorIsGlitter

No. No no no no no no no.
It looks like what people had their house plants suspended from the ceiling with in the hideous seventies. Ick.

    • MaggieMae

My mom, my sister, and I made a lot of those! It does look like macramé.

  • oneWEIRDword

Love it; it’s groovy, and that bracelet is It.

  • quiltrx

Serving Lu-Lu Fishpaw realness. Not a compliment.

  • Liliter

Only Naomie can rock this dress. This dress would have looked so tacky on KimK or Beyonce

  • Sumatra

My mom made that plant hanger back in the 70’s….

  • prettybigkitty

Credit where credit is due. Never thought that a 70’s plant hanger could be deployed as high fashion. Kudos to her for not looking like a stiff plant holder, or that she should be in an A-Frame in the country with chickens and goats.

  • kimmeister

    Her arms are killer.

  • ZelmaDelma

I’m weirdly ok with this if we can lose the shoulder strap. Maybe make a small edit to the scallops over her ribs which make her look wider than she probably is.

  • She still looks amazing in crocheted garden twine. A WERQ for the sheer tenacity of her looks!!

  • Sh-Sh-Sugartown

    Pass the Calamine lotion

  • Pterodactyl111

    Fancy deck chair.
