Ladies at the “Spectre” Royal World Premiere

Posted on October 27, 2015

If you’re a Bond Girl, you better BRING IT to the London premiere red carpet. Otherwise, the crowd will revolt in a fit of nationalistic pride and pelt you with bangers and chip butties. Or so we’re told. Luckily, these ladies all did their duty Queen and Country. Let’s judge them anyway.

Naomie Harris in Stella McCartney

Pretty much flawless. We would’ve preferred a richer color for the dress and for her lips, but we can’t deny how gorgeous she looks.

Also pretty much flawless. We’re not big fans of heavy velvet gowns but if you can put one on and still look sexy and comfortable, that’s a skill that deserves showing off. We would have recommended more modern shoes and a fresher hairstyle than that, but she’s making that sofa of a dress work for her.

Léa Seydoux in Prada

Winner winner chicken dinner.

Not to pit them all against each other in a competition they didn’t ask for (heavens, no; we’d never do such a thing), but Léa’s look is kinda blowing the other two out of the water. Prada doesn’t always make for the best choice when it comes to red carpetry, but this is pure glam that manages to be interesting to boot.

I love that Prada. I just wish she didn’t look like she smelled something bad. But again, that dress. Heidi should wear something like this (but then the universe might go into the big crunch).

    • evave2

I think Lea’s make-up looks ‘way too heavy. Smoky eye can work but I don’t think her coloring is right for smoky eye.

  • Shawn EH

Is Lea’s dress more of that reversible sequen fabric that Ashley used in the Red Carpet challenge? Obviously the way to show it off is to flip over little islands of it all over the dress. She looks great. But I love that Monica is in a James Bond movie.

    • missmuffins

I had the same thought about the material!

      • Rosary Jones

same here. I looked at it, and thought “That’s how you use that fabric”

    • Rhonda Shore

I thought that the second I saw it!

    • NJCathi

It sure looks exactly like it. Wish Ashley had manicured the sequins like this though. For a Prada, it’s a huge deal win.

  • Kelly

Yep, they all look great. I’d declare Naomi the chicken dinner winner, though — Chic City, while Lea’s dress looks a little overwhelming and (to my eyes) just a tiny bit tacky. And I don’t think I’m loving anybody’s hair. But on the whole, a fab showing for them all.

    • kimmeister

Totally agree with Naomie for the win. I think the fabric of Lea’s dress just looks like molting sequins, and her eye makeup is not working at all.

      • 3boysful

Me, too. I feel like that Prada is giving her linebacker shoulders.

    • TheDivineMissAnn

I cannot believe that is a Stella McCartney creation! Where are all the cutouts and the weird blocking fabric?

      Naomi looks beautiful in it.

      • Wink

I would have guessed Naomi’s dress was by Calvin Klein. Never by Stella.

  • bobbityboo

I bow to Bond woman, Monica (who is the same age as me *cough*) Her look could use some tweeking, but her stance and bearing is EVERYTHING. The other Bond girls are stunning as well. All the ladies are bringing it.

    • kimmeister

And she appears to be wearing hosiery, imagine that!

    • NJCathi

I’m a sucker for velvet when seasonally appropriate.

  • Froggae

I never imagined I’d associate the words “simple, lovely and elegant” with a Stella McCartney design. Are we sure it’s one of hers? Did Naomie rip off some silly fringe or unnecessary flaps before walking on to the red carpet?

    • bitchybitchybitchy

Let’s chalk this up to falling within the bounds of statistical probability that Stella can occasionally design a winning look.

      • Constant Reader

Even a stopped clock is right twice a day.

      • This gives me faith in humanity.

      • livesarah

Especially if she is looking to, say, Calvin Klein for ‘inspiration’.

        • bitchybitchybitchy

This look does have a very strong Calvin Klein feel.

    • group therapy

It looks like it’s too long for her to be able to turn and walk in, so that’s how we can tell.

    • Heather

It’s the only Stella gown I’ve ever seen that was actually pretty and flattering. Naomie looks great, though I do think the bodice is a bit too tight for her.

      • mila_8

I can’t figure out what’s up with that bodice. Are there illusion straps attached? Looks like diagonal clear strap across her back in the 3rd picture. If there are, weird they’re transparent. If not, weird to have owl horns cutting into you arm pits.

  • Janet B

Stella McCartney is capable of making a lovely gown?
Monica’s hair style seems a bit underwhelming, although it might be that I don’t like her bangs.
    Love the Prada.

(Broken record: more lip color please.)

  • BobStPaul

Can’t believe that’s a Stella McCartney. I’d give the win to Naomie. She and the dress are stunning.

    • That was my exact reaction–whatever drugs Stella took before designing this dress, she’d do everyone a world of good if she kept up the practice. The fit on Naomie is sheer perfection, accessories are perfect, and I love the hair.

  • myandyleigh

I hate, hate, hate those plastic strips passing as straps on that Stella McCartney. I know they’re supposed to give the illusion that the bodice is magically aloft, but you can STILL SEE THEM. It takes the dress straight to Tacky Town.

Sorry for shouting. Those things really bug me.

    • Bridget Smith

Man, you must have sharper eyes than I do – I can’t see them at all, even after scrolling back up to look for them!

      • LJCdoc

I can see them, but only in the view from the back.

    • leahpapa

I’m pretty sure it’s a scar? There was a piece in the Daily Mail about it a while back.

      • myandyleigh

You may be right and I certainly wouldn’t disagree with you. My eyes may be playing tricks with me. If that’s the case then I apologize to the lovely Ms. Harris. But not to Stella. Never to Stella!

Now I’m going to have to go somewhere isolated where I can scream “STELLA” into the breeze.

  • Anna

I’d jump the fence for Lea Seydoux. She is glamorous and sexy as fuck here.

But I’ll settle for seeing her steam up the movie screen with Daniel Craig, or the other two ladies or any combination thereof, for that matter.

Shocked that Naomie’s dress is a Stella McCartney, she looks stunning. Monica’s is my least favourite gown, but can’t deny she looks good in it.

  • HomeOfficeGirl

Naomi Harris for the win for me – perfection. The other two also look amazing, but their styles are so different. Hard to compare. They all look sexy as can be. Lea’s make up is too heavy handed for my taste.

  • Gatita

Hm, not digging the seatbelt on the back of Lea’s dress but cannot deny the front is gorgeous. Naomi has a supernatural ability to elevate pedestrian dresses. Monica is not only gorgeous, she’s age appropriate and not dieted down to scrawny chicken levels so she wins for me even though she’s not as chic as the other two.

  • PlethoraofBooks

My ONLY issue with Lea’s is the top – it looks like string tied together to bring it together. Otherwise, clear and beyond the winner for me.

  • I don’t like how Lea’s belt cuts across the back, but everything else I love.

  • bitchybitchybitchy

While my personal fashion preference for simple, classic elegance would give Naomi the win, I admit that this Prada is quite stunning. All around the Bond women showed well.

  • Lily

Either Naomi has super boobs or that dress has some beautifully-constructed invisible support. That neckline is sublime on her.

Love the other two, but for sheer “werk,” I’ve gotta go with Naomi.

And I’ve gotta give Mr. Grumpy Bond props for defending the hiring of Monica Bellucci in Spectre, saying that it’s time Bond was with a woman his own age. Monica is slaying this green!

  • JasmineAM

cannot even fathom that dress is a prada. it’s so beautiful.

  • Kris

How did Naomie get to the premiere?! Nary a wrinkle in sight! BRAVA! Her dress is fit to perfection!

  • ScarlettHarlot

Lea’s is a showstopper that made me gasp. Naomi looks divine as always. I want to crawl into Monica’s lap and cuddle against that velvet.

  • imspinningaround

Naomie, your hair is LAID and your gown fits like a glove. Good work. Monica, I want to rub up all over your velvet. High five. Lea, the interesting fabric is doing all the heavy lifting for your dress, and the belt that goes over the open back is making my eye twitch. Silver medal try, but no.

  • Sarah Walsh

Hmmm…the fabric that Ashley used for her red carpet gown on the latest PR episode had a similar two-tone effect as the Prada here, but it didn’t go over as well. Granted, hers was $400 worth of fabric and this is thousands…plus more time and expertise…

    • In_Stitches

Ashley didn’t take advantage of the double-sided nature of the sequins in her design which I found greatly disappointing. I wonder if they somehow shellacked the sequins in place here, or if a nervous stylist artfully mussed up the design prior to her walking the carpet.

  • Kathie

I love them all. Well done ladies!

  • gotgreyhound

I disagree with the ‘winner’. Lea’s makeup is a bridge too far. Naomie Harris wins this one, though as far as I’m concerned she could win in a potato sack–she is just flat-out beautiful.

  • Saturnine

Naomie FTW. I adore Monica, but Naomie looks flawless. I’m underwhelmed by Lea and the dress. I think the dress needs something, but not that belt.

  • Elentari

The gold one was AMAZING under the lights (I was watching the live stream).

  • Imasewsure

Naomi’s is my personal favorite but there is no denying that the Prada is a show stopper… love me some shiny objects

  • evave2

Oh I forgot to say Naomie’s Stella is the first Stella I have seen in a long time that I just didn’t hate. She looks great!

  • MilaXX

I prefer the simplicity of Naomi’s look. I’m not feeling that velvet dress on Monica. Love the shape but the fabric is so bulky. The sparkly silver just looked like any glittery dress.

  • Diane

They all look good but the winner is the winner.

  • spirit52

  • Lilithcat

Was there a requirement that ladies wear a monochromatic, columnar gown?

  • Kimberlini

I don’t like the belt or the back of the Prada gown.

  • DyanSwan

    The all look fab.

  • That may be the nicest Stella McCartney dress that I’ve ever seen.

  • Ced

Naomi for the win by a mile, though I agree about lip color.

  • Kaonashi

    Gorgeous, all of them.

  • anonylind

Naomie wins, hands down. I’m surprised that it’s Stella.

  • Monabel

    That Prada is wearing her.

  • AzulFashion

I vote for Naomi. Absolutely stunning.

  • NJCathi

The best part of Naomie’s look are those guns! I’d kill for her collarbone, shoulders and those arms.

  • marlie

I really like all three, but Lea is by far the winner here. They all look lovely, but Lea looks AH-MAZING.

  • HighFashionJunkie

all of them look nice, love the Stella McCartney dress the best

  • GTrain

Naomie is the winner for me. Absolutely gorgeous.

  • appliquer

Naomie for the win for me as well!

  • avoir_du_chien

Naomie never looks bad, I swear.

  • Gatto Nero

I was shocked at how elegant and simple the Stella gown is, then noticed that it’s being held up by those hideous plastic lingerie straps.

  • shopgirl716

Disagree. Lea looks like a belted disco ball. Naomi looks stunning.

  • Ugly Casanova

It’s as if the other two were told to dress down. I wonder what their roles were in the film and if it had anything to do with not out shining the main girl.
