Hit it, Girls girls.
We feel like there was very much a stepping-up effort being collectively made here. With its 4th season debuting last night (complete with something everyone wanted to see: Allison Williams getting butt-motorboated, and by “everyone” we mean Brian Williams) and its 5th already confirmed for next year, Girls is no longer a hot shot upstart of a show, but something of a TV mainstay. If they keep this up, they’re going to have to rename it Women in a couple seasons.
She tried. The makeup’s good (kinda). The dress is bold and at least attempts to be grown up and sophisticated. But is that thing shaped terribly or what? And so overworked in that typically Posen way. Also, the shoes are awful.
She’s morphing into young Joan Rivers.
Again, we give her credit for trying. This looks pretty on the model, but it apparently couldn’t sustain the pretty through one limo ride. That bodice is just plain sad. And the colors really don’t do anything for her.
This may be our favorite of any dress or gown she’s ever worn. The boldness of the red looks amazing on her – and it manages to straddle that line between Hollywood Glam and the socialite looks she tends to favor. But styling is terribly unflattering. Her makeup is too harsh and that hair is way too severe. She should probably never slick and part her hair like that because she looks disturbingly like her father in heavy makeup.
We like the idea of it more than the execution. It could’ve been an interesting red carpet look if some richer fabrics had been chosen. These look like scraps. And that center-parted pin-straight ombre hair is like a summation of all the hair trends of the last 3 or 4 years on one head.
