We feel like judging, so hit it, Annie:

Okay, first off: Good job on the shoe choice. Those are gorgeous – and they pretty much make the outfit, insofar as it is made. The skirt? It’s okay. We can work with it. The blouse? Oh, hell no. It’s way too prissy; it’s unflattering (her boobs look like they’re about a half-inch above her belly button); and the white doesn’t match the white of the skirt.

It looks like bridal office wear. No like.

On the other hand, this was a pleasant surprise:

It’s not perfect. The shoes are uninspired and the hem is probably too long for her, but it’s got a relaxed, confident, sexiness to it that really elevates her. It helps that her hair and makeup look so pretty.

After her Oscars dress debacle, where she switched at the last second because her Les Mis co-star Amanda Seyfried was wearing something vaguely similar, we’ve often suspected she’s a lot more nervous about her style choices than she lets on. And we wonder if she doesn’t get tripped up by female fashionista co-stars like Jessica Chastain sharing the red carpet with her. Her game has been really off and it wasn’t until we saw this look that we started to form an opinion as to why. This look feels like a successful attempt to offer a counterpoint to Chastain’s highly polished Princess Grace schtick right now. Her other looks from this poledance, in retrospect, seem like failed attempts to offer that counterpoint. It’s like she decided against glamour for this poledance, but couldn’t find an appropriate style alternative until now. Turns out? That sort of earthy-sexy look is something she can make work for her.

Ironically, this was the RC where Jessica toned down her own glamour girl look considerably. Miss Annie just can’t win, can she?
