Taylor Swift Takes her Cat for a Walk

Posted on September 17, 2014

You’ve got to give this girl credit. She had a semi-ridiculous storybook/fairytale version of life in New York City in her head and unlike most people who move there with that goal, she not only didn’t wind up either a toothless junkie or permanently cynical to the grave, she actually made the fairy tale come true for her. For Tay, life as a single, young gal in New York City includes flower-picking, thousands of dollars’ worth of daily costume changes, empty purses, crowds of admirers, and just-out-of-frame entourages. And now, we have reached the inevitable end point of Tay’s fairy tale fantasy. Fluffy, adorable animal friends.

It’s like someone shoved Barbie’s Dream house in the Bowery. It’s so ridiculously faux and out of place, but we simply can’t fault the girl for her commitment to it. She’s only a day or two away from sporting a tutu, tiara, and wand with a star on the end of it.

On the other hand, maybe some day the city will finally knock this silly fantasy out of her (as it has a way of doing) and she’ll snap. If she winds up peeing in subway stations wearing Oscar de la Renta ball gowns and cursing out the cops, we ALL win.

But as adorable as that cat is, it’s insanely irresponsible to carry it around unsecured on a NYC street. You know why you don’t see a lot of feral cats in Manhattan? They’re all dead. It’s about as inhospitable an environment for a domestic cat as you could imagine. Bad form, Tay.

And yeah, the outfit’s cute, but there’s no way those thigh-highs aren’t taped into place, which makes it all the sillier.
