The word for today is FUN.

If there’s one complaint we hear about runway shows above all others, it’s that the models look so angry all the time. This never particularly bothered us because classic runway modeling techniques maintain that the model is supposed to ensure that all focus – even in pictures – remains on the garments and what the garments are doing while she walks and poses. You add a lot of smiling – or even any kind of readable facial expression – and it can wind up distracting from the clothing quite a bit.

But it would take a series of explosions to distract from these clothes, which are all vibrant, colorful, and full of life. In this case, it only made sense to direct the models to have a little fun with it. And they did, vamping and smiling and waving to the crowd, high-fiving each other as they passed on the runway, holding little signs over their heads asking the crowd to take their picture. You couldn’t help but laugh. Desigual is all about fun, wearable clothing with a Latin American flair. The runway styling was over the top – we wouldn’t recommend pairing any of these looks with flower crowns, for instance, but when you get in and mentally edit, you can find a lot of wonderfully real-world pieces that would brighten up any wardrobe.
