We’re so torn on the whole Dan Stevens issue.

Look at you. You probably didn’t even know there was a Dan Stevens issue.

Everyone got mad at him for leaving Downton Abbey, and then he went on a massive image-change program (which included immediately dropping twenty pounds and then adding 6 ounces of fake chin) that may or may not have backfired because the internet rose up as one to make fun of him. But he’s playing a long game, it seems. In it to win it. His work is getting some real buzz and he’s doing a much better job of presenting himself to the public. We were never mad at him for leaving Downton Abbey. His character had gotten increasingly ridiculous over time and it’s a smart actor who finds the exact right moment to leave a project. The show was at the height of its popularity and Matthew Crawley had been written into a corner and become a total dullard. If you ask us, it’s Michelle Dockery who’s making the real mistake here. She should be a movie star by now.

It should also be noted that we briefly met him and sat in on a cast Q&A several years back where he came across both charming and grateful for the show’s success. It colors our opinion of him.

And speaking of colors, we love the unusual one of this suit. Unfortunately, the jacket has fit issues and there’s a disconnect between the grey/black shirt/tie combo and the brown shoes. A white shirt would correct that instantly. Also, everything’s askew and it’s causing OCD eyelid twitches. We just want to go up to him and start yanking.

Nothing dirty was implied in that last sentence.
