  • Dino Bonačić

    ILLUMINATI.

    jk. just ugly.

  • Jennifer Bober

I like these. There’s a sense of whimsy to them. The iPhone one is really funny.

    • butterflysunita

I want the Tarot card one.

  • RussellH88

    They’re kinda ugly.

And even worse, there seems to be no coherent theme to it whatsoever. Tarot Cards! iPhones! Ouija board! Bird Cages!

    • Jackie4g

The theme is “gimmick”. Gimme a gimmick and I’ll sell the shit out of it. Sure you will.

      • demidaemon

Well, I personally like my gimmicks to have a theme. 😉

        • quiltrx

I like mine to at least be able to be logically grouped :)

          • demidaemon

Let’s work together to change how gimmicks are represented in the world!

    • StrandedFashionista

There is a way to do ‘things as clutches’ and this is not it.

  • http://foodycat.blogspot.co.uk/ Alicia

Is this really all one collection?

    • Kitten Mittons

Completely all over the place. That was my first thought. Tarot and then…..iPhone purse? And then one with coins and baubles just slapped on? Odd.

I don’t dislike some of them, it’s just a strange collection.

      • Boulderista

gypsy esthetic – and a Nay from me.

        • Kitten Mittons

But….the iPhone one? The Chinese dragon? The tiny birdcage looking thing?

          • Boulderista

yep. All of the “inspiration” pieces would be at home in a tacky room where someone calling herself a gypsy reads palms and conducts seances – birdcages, dragons and all. All that is missing is some fringed fabrics and incense.

          • Kitten Mittons

You’re probably right on that count. It still feels very frenetic to me. The iPhone is the one that throws me off the most. And #4 just looks like a close-up from a Monsters, Inc. dvd case.

          • Boulderista

#4 took me a minute too because my initial though was ‘blue eggs and ham?’ IMHO It doesn’t work well with the rest of the collection, the corners and the graphic are too sharp. The iPhone just made me laugh because it seemed to bring a touch of humor with the rest of the tat.

          • Kitten Mittons

I will admit, having you phone handy like that is kind of cool. At least all these youngsters who carry their phones around in their hands while carrying a purse wouldn’t look so silly.

          • lchopalong

#4 is the evil eye. Thematically it fits, but aesthetically… Well, I guess it’s hard to tell exactly what the aesthetic is.

      • judybrowni

The one with the coins reminds of those see-thru plastic toilet seats embedded with floating pennies.

    • sojourneryouth

Exactly. If they had stayed with the sort of gypsy/tarot/occult theme, that would have been better. A few of those I like. But the iPhone and the watch-part-and-crazy-glue one are needle-scratches, and the rest are just ugly.

  • Lily

I kinda sorta want to like them, but the “it” factor is missing. Interesting ideas, but not much of a “wow” factor for me.

    • Constant Reader

Me too. Something fell short between the idea and the execution.

  • El Silver Fox

Mostly cheesy, flea market looking, but want number four with the mal ojo DESPERATELY.

    • halleygee

      Lol same here!

  • Grumpy Girl

I find a lot of them rather creepy.

  • http://instagram.com/nevareese International Model

Unsurprisingly, this white trash gypsy loves it.

  • Glam Dixie

I see nothing here that I want to own but inoffensive, so small yea.

  • Sanglots longs

All these minaudieres…I kind of like them, and then I realize it’s because they look like toys, only prettier, and I probably just want pretty toys. But gosh, designers used to be able to make little purses that were simply pretty, without having to refer to other stuff to incite our desires. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but it all sometimes stops feeling clever and just seems…lazy? obvious? not that new?

    • muzan-e

What I’m finding tragic at this exact moment is that the word “minaudieres” strikes me as far more fascinatingly exotic than any of these actual designs.

  • http://phantomminuet.blogspot.com/ MinAgain

I like them, but I could do with less bedazzling. Number 10 is pretty cool.

  • Emily Giovanni

is that an iPhone case, or a purse that looks like an iPhone?

    • Kimbolina

I think it’s a case with a built in purse. Like the phone snaps into the front of the clutch, I guess?

      • Grumpy Girl

Ooooh. That is kind of cool, in a way. It does provide (me) with a sense of scale. (Something I am apparently without today, based on previous posts.)

      • muzan-e

… see, I was just about to write about how much I liked the iPhone-looking purse! And how much I wanted the ouija purse to actually be an iPhone case. But if the purse is actually a case with a built-in purse, and the – then – the –

I don’t even know what I’m looking at anymore. *whimper*

  • Thomas

    Dollar Store finds

    • muzan-e

I would be surprised if you couldn’t find versions of these on Etsy last year.

      • demidaemon

Well, you could certainly make the treasure themes one yourself with plenty of glue, a plastic box, and some “pirate” toys from the dollar store.

  • Anna

I like #19. I admittedly don’t know much about Kotur, but I feel like that’s how a certain famewhore reality TV family spells couture.

    • Thomas

Jinx! Should have read all the comments first.

      • Anna

        Great minds, Thomas :-)

  • Qitkat

#12, 14, 19 are really beautiful. #6 is quirky and makes me smile. #3 birdcage or its companion #5 would elevate any simple solid color gown to an eye-turning look.

  • sienna elm

I find it fitting that the first one here features “The Fool”.

  • Guest

I like 9, 10, 18, and 19. The iPhone one is an abomination.

  • MilaXX

    Maybe #12 but that’s it.

  • papillon

Hideous. Nay to all. So many designers seem to be just slapping a picture of something well known onto their bags and calling that a design. They’re not even trying to use it as a reference or inspiration anymore. It’s getting a bit tiresome.

  • charlotte

    #1 belongs to Anna Draper.

  • Kent Roby

#1 is freaking me out; I made a fortune teller costume (with giant crystal ball on her head) many years ago that had those 3 exact tarot cards on her backpiece (they were huge). I would totally take it or #10 with me to church!

    • http://foodycat.blogspot.co.uk/ Alicia

That would be hilarious – you’d have so many people praying for you!

      • Kent Roby

I’m used to that whenever I visit family in Mississippi!

  • Nancer

Meh. Some are fun, some are ugly…. maybe I’m just not in the mood for these today!

  • holla

seems fun in a kitschy sorta way.

  • frannyprof

I like the evil eye, but that’s about it.

  • TerryMarie

I badly want the dragon bag.

  • LilyVanessi

Love the tarot cards and the ouija board. Actually, I like most of them.

  • http://www.ellenciompi.com/ NurseEllen

Most of these are kind of cool and different, if your lifestyle includes events where having these kinds of purses is a given. I bet Apple sues them over the iPhone purse, though.

    • Stubenville

Is it a fake iPhone or a bag that an authentic, working iPhone snaps into? I thought it might be the latter.

      • formerlyAnon

        Huh. That would be novel.

      • Lawrence

I find myself hoping it’s the latter, because that strikes me as genuinely useful! Like a super-upscale version of those iPhone hardcases with a slot for your cards in the back, one you can actually carry proudly at parties.

  • marlie

YEA. A lot of these are fun and funky.

  • MightyMarshal

NAY welcome to the mall kiosk.

  • RescueMe23

Why can’t an expensive bag/clutch look “normal” any more? Why do they all have to look like something other than what they are?

  • CB

    These are dumb.

  • 1carmelita

The gold/black/white quilt square is quite pretty, and the little cages are rather interesting, too.

  • hughman

The name “Kotur” itself sounds like a cheap cologne knock-off.

    • Kayceed

I assumed it was the Kountry Kousin of Couture.

      • Thomas

Or the Kardashian version of Couture lol

  • @Biting Panda

Finally some cultural appropriation I can be personally offended by. As a Tarot reading, fantasy loving, mystical gal, these are MY bags. Not that I am offended in any way, but yay for us boring white chicks. iPhones and brooches – yep, that’s about right. As we are not to borrow from other cultures we admire, respect and enjoy, we apparently have no culture to steal other than Witchy Woman.

    • MarissaLG

I can understand how you wouldn’t like something you take very seriously to be used as an aesthetic feature on a purse, but just because you do something doesn’t make it part of your culture. Your personal style and hobbies are not sacrosanct, and it’s absolutely not the same thing as religious artifacts and holy objects being used to lampoon your entire nationality and religion, or for celebrities to look cute in on magazine covers.

      • @Biting Panda

Very well stated. While I was posting sarcastically, I appreciate your sincere reply.

        • formerlyAnon

I’m thinking that twisty sense of humor you were missing a few weeks ago might be working its way back. Just a hunch.
          XO

    • Glam Dixie

They need one shaped like a Starbucks cup and one that looks like an ugg boot to complete the white chick trifecta.

  • docholly

reminds me of the Big to Carrie swan bag

  • Paula Pertile

    mmm, no.

  • Lori

Nay. The majority of these are either dumb, ugly or both.

  • kimmeister

NAY. I only like 3, 14, and 19. I’m not into the occult or spiritistic things, and while I’m not against snake print, they way it is configured here is disturbing.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1234087433 Jen Freeman

Yay! Purses are such a wonderful platform for wackiness.

  • Denise Rambo

    LOVE the Ouija Board bag!

  • Julie Ann

I like the ouija board one too, but the rest all look tacky and cheap.

  • PastryGoddess

    Cute!

  • Eclectic Mayhem

Needs more ‘Magic 8 Ball’ versions.

  • Melanie

these all look like something i’d buy in my local goth-y head shop circa 2002 & i LOVE IT.

  • Monabel

    Cheap cell phone cases.

  • kerryev

By and large ugly but at least I haven’t seen them already. I like the creepy pile-o-snakes print.

  • ErikaM812

The Ouija board one kinda freaks me out because I had some weird experiences with one, but there are some nice ones in this collection and some that are just weird looking. I like #3 and #12.

  • evave2

I like them very much, they look like fun, especially the ones in the middle.

  • crash1212

YAY! Love them. I would cut someone for #2.

  • PinkyK

Out. They look like the entries in a design the bag contest, sponsored by Michael’s craft store…

  • FibonacciSequins

    Tacky-crafty. NAY.

  • Andrea

Oh #9. My daughter made a Mother’s Day pin for me that looks so very much like this. I guess if you’ve seen one hot-glue-gun-and-buttons craft, you’ve seen them all.

    • BLauDGaspode

I thought they all looked a bit artsy crafty student project to me.

  • Lisalady161

Yay! I love most of them, and the I Phone made me laugh out loud.

  • SewingSiren

The iPhone one would confuse me. But i love all the others.

  • E. D.

    No.

  • librarygrrl64

A bit too kitschy for me. But I do like that Ouija board one. :-)

  • KT

Perfect gift ideas for your crazy great-aunt who thinks that regular sessions with a psychic is more effective than therapy!

  • Judy_J

I’m surprised it’s taken this long to make an iPhone bag. I’m voting yea because a few of these are pretty sweet.

  • boweryboy

Nope. Gaudy and tacky and kinda creepy. Although, I sorta like the evil eye clutch. And I know it’s supposed to be cheeky but I’m weirdly irked that it’s “Kotur”.

    “Wow! Thats a great purse.”

“Why thank you. It’s Oat Kotur.”

    Feh.

  • ChelseaNH

Yea. Just right for adding a little punctuation to an outfit.

  • LeelaST

Nay. Gaudy & silly – the one shaped like a cell phone? Please. Do like #13 Dragon though.

  • http://gabyrippling.tumblr.com/ Gaby

Inspired by Alan Moore? They’re cheeky, I like pretty much all of them, but especially the “snakes in a cage” vibe of numbers 3 and 15.

  • Jacob Bowen

Isn’t that just an iPhone case?

  • http://fibonaccisequins.storenvy.com/ Danielle

    Yay, because reasons.

  • H2olovngrl

    Not really loving this one.

  • Joyce VG

    YEA!!!! (to infinity.)

  • BigWhiteGrannyPanties

    LOVE THEM.

  • http://armchairauthor.wordpress.com/ LesYeuxHiboux

Wardrobe for the premiere of The Craft! I love tarot but the Rider-Waite is such an ugly deck.

    • understateddiva

I go Rider Waite when I want the ugly truth, and Aquatic when I want something more soothing…

      • http://armchairauthor.wordpress.com/ LesYeuxHiboux

I’ve been familiarizing myself with the Wildwood Tarot. It’s gorgeous.

  • MissAmynae

Yay! to about half of them. this needed some serious editing.

  • understateddiva

    yay – I think they’re fun!

  • formerlyAnon

Yea, more or less. I’d carry fewer than 1/3 of them, even if I got them for free, but I think there’s more fun in them than most overpriced high -end novelty clutches.

  • demidaemon

Pretty much ugly, lame, and uninspired. NAY.

  • quiltrx

    At least semi-yay to 2, 10, 14, 17, 19. Nay to the rest.
19 is definitely my favorite, because it’s totally a quilt block (and I love mother-of-pearl accents).

  • sleepycat

i will take one of each except for the ouija board.

  • ankali

Hell to the YEA! Love the Ouija board and tarot cards.

  • JynxTheCat

    Nope.

  • queen b*tch

why oh why does anyone need a bag that look like an iphone?

  • DeidreRobbers

Just back from Istanbul, I’d take #4 in a heartbeat. Love the evil eye. Kind of digging the rest too.

  • Badriya Al-Badi’a

Yay! I covet both the eye ones, the evil eye and the surrealist eye!

  • http://www.lippsisters.com/ Deborah Lipp

    I love the occult-kitsch ones and #3.

  • hellkell

These are batshit, I love them. YAY.

  • guest2visits

I find half really tacky – and half collectable. I like #4 best.

  • PeaceBang

I would love the Tarot one to carry around Salem when the Halloween tourist stuff hits, but that’s all I got. I wish I could see the technique on the buttons one: is that a kind of lacquered photo or what? It has a bee on it, yay bees.
