On anyone else I’d say “Boring”

But on Maggie I say “It could have been so much worse”

    • Imasewsure

My reactions were too tight and so what because it’s boring anyway… not awful but just not anything interesting or special

    • livesarah

I do love Maggie but I won’t lie: even though I liked the thumbnail, I was holding my breath for a scroll down fug.

  • sugarkane105

Cute look for her. Nice choice of shoes.

    • Thomas

The color of those shoes is divine, isn’t it.

      • Sarah

Yes! I don’t usually like pointy toes, but these are really nice.

At this length it makes me thing summer-wedding-in-the-garden, not RC.

  • alyce1213

A little bit of a fit issue — it shouldn’t be as loose as the model’s, but not quite as fitted as Maggie’s wearing it — just skimming the body would be best, especially in white. Anyway, it’s a good look for her and I love the shoes.

    • MilaXX

I actually like the tighter fit. It’s not belly button seeing tight and helps give the dress some shape. A looser fit on Maggie would look like a schmatta.

  • Anna

The “elderly New York City heiress” nightgown!”

At least she didn’t go with the white shoes the model is wearing.

  • Dino Bonačić

I just would like to say NICE. Just NICE.

  • conniemd

Very typical Maggie style. It’s a bit too tight though, showing off some bumpy areas.

  • Someone’s bragging about not being on her period….

  • MilaXX

I like it. This is a perfect Maggie dress and no butt zipper.

    • Sophie

There might be one, and Tom and Lorenzo wanted to spare us the view? But I do like it, and her smile.

  • ashtangajunkie

A bit snug, but otherwise a lovely Maggie Gyllenhaal look.

  • Yoshio

The rare case where the shoes deserved a better dress.

  • Grumpy Girl

A missed opportunity for some colorful gems in jewelry.

  • Mr. J.

That neckline is beautiful on her….

  • joancarol

    She is just dreary.

  • Whever

Oish. That runway pic is making me think of the abortive wedding scene in “While You Were Sleeping.” Just add a silk rosette, and hello Sandra Bullock.

  • marlie

I like this a lot. It suits her. Sure, it would use accessories somewhere, but it’s Maggie, and she’s not fussy that way.

    • Aurumgirl

I agree. I think the dress has a sculptural quality about it and more jewellery would actually detract from that. The neckline is beautiful on her and the shoes are gorgeous.

  • decormaven

My kingdom for a statement piece of jewelry. Babies wear bigger earrings than that.

  • cmb123

Aside from the fit issues and visible seams of her various underpinnings and such, she looks lovely.

  • hughman

I miss the rubber slippers and floppy hat.

  • HM3

THIS is what she chose to wear to a MOVIE PREMIERE? Aging, over-simplified ill-fitted geriatric beach dress, sans-jewelry? Oh, nonononono.

Also, she needs to stop slouching.

  • A little tighter than I would have liked, but I love that lip color.

  • Tricia

Blah. Love her hair so much though.

  • Nimith

Psych-ward/convent chic. At least it’s not a weirdly fitted orange tube with a feature zipper.

  • Mary Elizabeth Poytinger Baume

Does she even like being an actress?

  • unbornfawn

She dresses like she just doesn’t care. Too bad. She’s beautiful and with a little thought could still keep her looks simple. She could be so casually elegant with better choices.

  • Sarah

Her hair and makeup (and eyes!) are looking gorgeous. I love the dress, for HER, but methinks you have to be lanky to pull it off.

  • GillianHolroyd

I like the simplicity. Just needs a better foundation, a good pressing, and posture. Her hair and makeup are divine, at least those guys are earning their salary.

  • Qitkat

I like this A LOT, but wish it skimmed her torso rather than fitted it.

  • IAmJ

Can’t believe I never really noticed what a charming smile she has.

  • crash1212

I think there are some support issues here, but all-in-all I like this look for her. Killer shoes.

  • Anapestic

It looks really nice on Maggie. The model looks like a vampire, though. I half-expect it to be from some True Blood/3M fashion mash-up where she spills blood on it while feeding and it washes right off.

  • Nancer

Lovely, but just a bit too tight. I would hate to be an actress and have everyone scrutinize me like this! But on the other hand, they have stylists and money and lots of designers willing to lend them clothing, so… not feeling THAT guilty. ;]

  • Miss wks

She looks better than the model…..

  • enchanted216

Ugh. How do these women not know when a dress is too tight? Don’t they feel uncomfortable and self-conscious?

  • PinkyK

Ugh way too tight. It would be darling if it fit properly.

  • Carolina E.

You know what’d help this look? Michael Fassbender by her side.

  • Ruby_Red

I’d like it better with the hem just a bit shorter, and a touch of color somewhere – even just a simple necklace.

  • Caaro3

She’s lovely. Apparently refuses to wear Spanks, has given birth a couple of times and is slim but doesn’t care whether her tummy looks flat-as-a-fifteen-year-old. Her low-key personality always shines through. I say ‘Brava’, Maggie. Love her.

  • Anglow

She always looks head-to-toe droopy to me.

  • SophieCollier

That’s kind of a weird combination. Not hideous or anything, just strange. I think some jewelry or SOMETHING to make those oxblood shoes make sense.

  • elemspbee

huh, whut? i fell asleep mid-scroll. Dullsville uniform.

  • Sherilyne Cox

I like the length… Maggie an elegant stature….a serious gamine with eyebrow issues.

  • jonnyf8

She’s improved so much lately. I think she looks really pretty and fresh here. I think the dress fits perfectly. I had to scroll back up when I read the too tight comments. She looks fine.

  • Gatto Nero

This is very simple, elegant, and pretty on her. Not sure that’s the best shoe color and style for this dress. Makeup and hair are lovely.

  • jkatkins

So much less tragic than usual.

  • SewingSiren

Very pretty , but a slosh too tight. I love the styling on the Look Book dress. Especially the shoes.

    • Gatto Nero

Yes, the fit and styling on the model are better. But it’s a good dress for Maggie.

  • FibonacciSequins

    Come fly with me.

  • quiltrx

Pretty. That neckline really works for her, and I love the sleeves.
I wish the fit were a smidge looser. I think I’m seeing some sort of shapewear horizontal lines, and it’s distracting.

    • Melanie

agree on all accounts! that neckline is perfect for her.

  • paintedfish

i need that dress in every color.

  • Caaro3

Does anyone know what material this dress is made of? It looks so soft and comfortable. (I’m becoming obsessed).

  • Perfect, though of course it reminds me of a dress my (fabulous) grandmother would wear – just slap a big flower brooch on it and put her hair in fingerwaves (and make it silver blond) and BAM there’s my Mamola. But better to look like a fabulous grandmother than a prematurely demented one.

  • Trickytrisha

Good for her… much more flattering dress than usual. She looks lovely and confident and downright radiant. The dress *is* a bit tight, but it’s a minor thing.

  • bunnydiet

Why would she want to step out looking like a ghost?

  • demidaemon

Is it weird that I’m starting to miss her crazy granny couture style? Because now I am bored.

  • kimmeister

So . . . is she wearing a bralette under there?

  • evave2

The dress on the model looks like it’s supposed to be much more casual I really like that shoe.

The dress fits comfortably but I don’t like the cap sleeves, just seem tacked on.

  • MichelleRafter

This is in her wheelhouse and the fit is great. Love those shoes – saw something on Pinterest just today that that color is it for fall.

  • Lisalady161

Oh, sweet Maggie. Couldn’t you have found some jewelry to help out those fabulous shoes?

  • JeanDNelson

  • JeanDNelson

Kelly Richards is a regular mom who lost her job last year, and after an unsuccessful job hunt, she started working online. I interviewed her about her amazing story and she revealed her steps for success.

  • LibKat

Maggie, it is time to investigate foundation garments.

  • KayEmWhy

Why is she always dressing like Grandma chic? This pretty romantic dresses don’t work on her.

  • She looks so dowdy all the time imo. Boring and a bit tight.

  • Trishington

I like this dress on her but I wish it has a titch less snug and the fabric was a floaty, floral chiffon, a la Blance Dubois.
