Looks a little skimpy, like she’s too tall and that the dress is supposed to be floor length

      • BayTampaBay

I think the dress looks matronly as I can see this on Jane Fonda and it looks very good in my mind.

        • Betsy

          She could be Jane’s granddaughter.

          • dschubba

And she’ll have to fight Chloe Moretz for Grandma Jane’s wardrobe.

          • BayTampaBay

True! I forget that Jane is 77.

      • Raspberry2012

Yeah. I’d find it uninteresting even if the length were right, but the shortness just makes it even worse. Not loving this, she can do better

    • Sobaika

      Here for it.

    • Imasewsure

I like that she went with a different shape but I don’t think I particularly like the dress (or the necklace). Still beautiful as always though….

      • BayTampaBay

Agree! The necklace sucks out loud.

    • imperfectlaura

Don’t like the proportions. It makes her look wider than she is. Don’t like the awkward length. And don’t like the heels or necklace. In other words, I don’t like this.

      • MoHub

I was actually doing pretty well until I got to the weird skirt length. Not an attractive hemline on anyone.

        • halleygee

The skirt is also very lumpy, I don’t think anyone wants their butt to look like from the side.

      • EveEve

If I was her manager/stylist, I’d make damn sure she stood out in that crowd She’ll need all the buzz she can muster. Mission not accomplished. This may be one of the last times we see this actress on the red carpet.

    • mapmakerscolors

I don’t like the shape of the skirt and nothing else about the look is interesting enough to save it imo.

    • Dany

Lost me at the skirt. I was all “Good, yes, pretty, *THUD* Oh look a pig in the blanket skirt.

      • &theJets

Totally. I was thinking she was going like gangbusters, and then I got to the hem of that skirt..ewww.

        • AnneElliot

Yes, I was ready to comment that she won the night, but then scrolled down. . . and saw the hem and the shoes. If it was a full or a straight skirt with some killer shoes, I would have been on board. . Oh well.

      • higgledypiggledy

Yep. This is basically a scrolldown fug. The shape of the skirt makes her look hippy (which she is surely not) and constricted. Otherwise it’s fine, if nothing to write home about.

    • gloriana232

Meh. I also like that she went with something different, but I’m not feeling the fit.

Can we imagine this as a HAREM PANT? That’d be killer.

      • http://armchairauthor.wordpress.com/ LesYeuxHiboux

I thought it was at first, and I was feelin’ it. I think I’d still want a non-black shoe, though. Silver or hematite.

    • SugarSnap108

Eh. The skirt is just awkward, and the bodice is … bumpy.

    • Karen Belgrad

That bodice could live in pineapple under the sea (or at least the bottom of an aquarium!)

    • http://twitter.com/janedonuts Jane Donuts

I don’t mind the ensemble, but something about that necklace strikes me as all wrong. It looks too much like a big, cheap pendant from Ross Dress for Less.

      • makeityourself

Yes, the jewelry selections were poor. Bigger, more interesting earrings and no necklace were the way to go.

    • hughman

Lurve the dress. The necklace just SCREAMS “Illuminati Conspiracy”.

      • CT14

Yep. Wrong necklace for this look.

      • decormaven

I would have gone with larger earrings and removed the necklace. Your comment on the necklace cracks me up! Well played.

    • FibonacciSequins

      Serving Paul Poiret realness.

    • frannyprof

I love this but I can’t say why… It just works.

      • kirkyo

Only the Power of Pare could make that shape work.

        • frannyprof

I agree. This look is not for everyone. But she looks super elegant and slightly edgy. Well done.

    • Verascity

      Well done, Mrs. Draper.

    • Introspective

gorgeous face and the skirt was a nice surprise. the bodice seems bulky, but the d’orsay heel is just a fantastic pairing with the skirt and overall the look is elegant.

that necklace needs to be melted and the stones saved for a redo. cause as it stands now? horrendous.

      • Gatto Nero

Agree on the dress and shoe pairing. Inspired.

    • lunchcoma

I like the top, but I’ve wrapped towels around my waist and had them hang more gracefully than that skirt.

    • MissAmynae

I like it from every angle, except straight-on. It looks too blocky from that POV. Great shoes.

    • smh4748

That skirt is full of mixed signals–all that pleating and draping signifies it wants to be a beautiful, flowing skirt, but then you scroll down and see that really, the skirt has just been pulled up and tucked in her waistband. It’s trying to be interesting, but only succeeding at giving her a really weird shape.

I’d also like to see less necklace and more earrings.

I do like the bodice, lumpy and thick though it may be. And at least this iteration of barnacle wear is probably more comfortable to sit in than Julia Roberts’. :)

    • Glammie

Scroll-down meh. I was excited by the top pix and then the outfit got duller and duller as I went down.

    • TheGrandSophy

Love the dress. Makes me think of the hobble skirts of 1910-ish. It is an unusual shape amongst all the full-length gowns, without going cocktail length which I don’t think ever seems quite right for the ‘big’ red carpets of the year.

    • nannypoo

I like the idea of this dress better than the actual dress.

    • rh33

Thank god she didn’t succumb to peer pressure and wore The Stuart Weitzman Overexposed Sandal.

    • Terri Terri

Ho hum. She looks okay. I don’t like that necklace, though.

    • Mothra

That would have been so much cuter if the skirt of the dress had been fancy little pants.

    • ChelseaNH

The skirt looks ill-fitting and hobbling.

    • Sarah

I like the whole look, so there.

    • Gatto Nero

Very classic/retro, and pretty on her. On a shorter woman the length and tulip hem would be stumpifying. I think it works here.

    • ChiKat67

I want Helen Mirren to wear that dress with a leather moto jacket!

    • kim bunchalastnames

… i don’t think that this is her dress.

    • KayEmWhy

      Bedazzled toga bedsheet.

    • onetwothree

I didn’t think it was possible to make Jessica Pare looks dumpy, but there you go.

    • alyce1213

The draping makes her look thicker in the middle than she is, but I like that kind of hemline. I feel so-so about this.

    • ailujailuj

OK—ok. I’ll take the necklace off her hands. or neck.

    • Melmmmendes

I wish it was a jumpsuit.

    • Jacob Bowen

I HATE that skirt length. It ruins what could have been a pretty awesome outfit.

    • suzq

I’d prefer either a fuller and longer skirt or pants. Otherwise, she looks spectacular.

    • PastryGoddess

Love the shoes and necklace. That dress is a big ole nope

    • http://www.readbarbara.com/ ReadBarbara

The shape of that dress does a grave disservice to her figure.

    • LJCdoc

      Die, hiddy tulip skirt.

    • Froggae

Another weird Lanvin skirt. From the side it looks like she is wearing harem pants. I think that would have been an improvement.

    • anonylind

I dunno. At first I hated it, but the more I look at it, the more I think it suits her. It doesn’t have the edge she usually goes for, which I find harsh on her. Her face is the prettiest I’ve ever seen it.

    • livesarah

The skirt part is terrible, but if you ignore it she looks pretty stunning.

    • evave2

It looks to me like she doesn’t have the booty to fill out the back. I agree that something appears to be just a little off in the overall fit.

    • Martha Anderson

agree the way it falls from her non-butt and rutches in the calf makes it seem rather odd. Love the full on front view

    • StrandedFashionista

The resting bitch face is strong with this one.

    • Call me Bee

I like this a lot. The length, the bodice and the shoes. And the fact she doesn’t have bed-head.

    • mmelaprof

Looks a bit like a bathmat and towel wrapped around.

    • quiltrx

That necklace wants to live with me and be my love.
And the bottom of this dress goes all wrong. Like they didn’t buy enough fabric at mood.

    • MilaXX

Maybe she looks too good on Mad Men because I am always underwhelmed by her RC appearances.

    • DollyMadisonWI

    • H2

I’m getting sort of a black tie bridesmaid vibe.

    • MarissaLG

I really love the dress but hate the necklace and silver accessories. I would have gone with gold or bronze to bring out the color of the stones in the bodice.

    • Kent Roby

MAD STYLE: She’s wearing black to signify the end of the series, the detailing of the bodice emphasizes the bumpy nature of her relationship with Don, and the skirt further emphasizes that the show will be wrapping soon. The necklace hints at the fact that her character will work at Marshalls once her (Megan’s) acting career tanks.

    • Constant Reader

What’s with these dresses on the RC that look like a swimsuit with a sarong? This one is more elegant than Lea Michele’s but it still looks like it would fit right in at the pool area of a 5-star resort. That said, Jessica is almost making it work.

    • EEKstl

I love this and think she looks stunning, but not loving the necklace.

    • Skippymom1

I just wish they had taken one inch off the shoes – they’re gorgeous, but her feet look unnatural in them, probably because they aren’t meant to arch that way. Along with the [saggy] back view – it’s too distracting.

    • http://fibonaccisequins.storenvy.com/ Danielle

Oh dear. That’s a terrible silhouette.

    • MaggieMae

Love it until the needle scratch at the bottom (hem + shoes). Lordy, she is so beautiful though!

    • Karen B

I like the necklace, but seems … incorrect here. It needed to be worn with a v-neck, I think.

    • Little_Olive

As per usual, she looks amazing but the dress is wrong for her.

    • papillon

The dress is fantastic but the skirt looks off on her for some reason – maybe it’s too long? The necklace can go and I wish they had done something else with her hair.

    • Kate

Glorious. I think she looks beautiful, and I love the retro feel of the skirt. Shoes are also nice to look at.

    • kalisa

When I was a senior in high school (1984), the most popular girl in my class was SO OVER being the It Girl. She’d been elected to the Most Beautiful pageant every year and she decided she was not going to buy a new gown for this last one. She wrapped a swath of fabric around her waist and tucked it into a sequined tube top of the same color. It looked just like this dress (but in red).

    • SuzyQuzey

That necklace is pure Sarah Coventry.

    • boweryboy

I’m not in love with the silhouette. It’s doing weirdly unflattering things to her body south of the waist. Kudos for a well deployed neckace and perfect hair. In any case, she looks gorgeous.

    • SoAnnaPropriate

I appreciate the necklace and her lack of tattoos.

    • demidaemon

Someone spilled birdseed all over her bodice! I kid. A little. She looks pretty good, all things considered, though that bodice looks extremely uncomfortable.

    • http://ediblecville.blogspot.com Libby

OMG, perfection. Those shoes! Love the necklace, and the way the hemline shows off THOSE SHOEEEEESSSSSSSS! *SWOON*

    • LibKat

Terrible silhouette on her. How can a woman that thin look like she has holster hips? Really too bad because her hair and face are perfect.

    • Winterlight

Not a fan of the hobble skirt.

    • librarygrrl64

I think this is actually one of her best looks, and I usually hate this silhouette unless one is filming a movie circa 1910.

    • Kikishua

I don’t think anyone’s mentioned the ring. I flippin love the ring. Give me the ring!
