You know, besides being incredibly intelligent, kind, funny, and all-around amazing, Amy Poehler is also becoming quite good on the red-carpet.

I WANT TO BE HER DAUGHTER.

      • lamamu

I would settle for being that adorably grumpy red-headed son of hers.

        • YourBaloneyDontGotNoSecondName

I volunteer as her drinking buddy. Could you imagine?

      • imustacheyouaquestion

i would vote for her for city council! :)

    • imperfectlaura

Arguably one of the most interesting things she’s worn on the red carpet, but I don’t like the 3 horizontal lines on her midsection. Not very flattering on anyone.

      • DuBey2

Agreed. Not that flattering on the model either. Maybe its heavy fabric due to the metallic aspect, & could use a built in underwire or some sort of effect in the bust area? To me it looks like the cut of a slip dress, but without the light fabric to make it light & floaty.

      • lexilexi

I’ll just say it. I thought she was pregnant.

        • Julie Chase

I did too and got very excited over a potential Poehler/Kroll child.

          • RandiLu

            Wait, she’s dating “The Douche”?

      • MoHub

Those bands make it look as if she has no waist. Even if she’s built straight up-and-down, there are lines that would give her more of a modified hourglass than this gown.

        • alyce1213

Yes, I just commented — inward diagonals at the waist would fix it.

          • MoHub

Or even a skirt with a little flare.

      • Trent

Completely agree, and yet I thought she looked great last night. Somehow in these still photos the dress has added ten pounds and completely obscured her waist. Either way, I wish *she* had hosted last night (Seth was only okay, IMO).

      • Melmmmendes

Yeah, it’s an odd placement. Maybe if they were a little higher?

        • vitaminC

Samples are cut for 6′ tall women. Leading ladies are rarely that tall. Hence, the gown’s waist is sitting somewhere near her hips.

    • CO Gal

Adore her, but not in love with how the stripes are hitting her mid-section

    • Sarah

I love this on her – way to be glam Amy! – but it seems a tad unfinished. Like, makeup, jewelry, something needed to be more.

      • SugarSnap108

I think stronger makeup for sure. Jewelry is tougher. I’m never sure what you do with a dress that’s so … shiny.

    • lunchcoma

I’m not sure that’s either her color or quite the right shape for her, but I like seeing her try something more adventurous.

    • MaggieMae

Look at YOU, Miss Amy! Flashy! Bold!

    • Sophia Finfer

LOVE this. She looks great, and also happy, confident and supah glam all at the same time. Nailed it.

    • ninamadeleine

Since getting divorced, she has thrived on the red carpet. Good on yah, Amy (but lose the weird stripes at your mid section. Not doing you any favors!

    • Anna

Fun, love this for her. She looks like she’s ready to party.

    • sugarkane105

The beautiful, amazing and talented Beyonce.

      • YousmelllikeAnnaWintour

        That was so funny!!!

    • @Biting Panda

Sexy, glamorous and somehow relaxed. Well played, funny lady.

    • http://fibonaccisequins.storenvy.com/ Danielle

Minor quibbles about the shape on her, but she’s glam as hell and she KNOWS it.

    • FibonacciSequins

She looked great in this last night. This is the year of messy hair, isn’t it?

      • marlie

        I *hate* the messy hair.

        • Julie Ann

          I *love* the messy hair.

        • demidaemon

I’m with Marlie. What’s worse, it almost looks dirty.

    • Grumpy Girl

I like that she picked the dress, and it looks lovely . . .but I’m not sure I can say it is flattering on her. Aside from the midsection stripes all mention, there seems to need to be some more boob support, too. And I am not in love with the undone hair–but that is something I don’t care for in general.

      • Imasewsure

So sick of this hair trend… great for a casual summer dress not a goddess dress… here’s hoping for a new trend in 2015!

      • Trent

Speaking of which, I’ve been rewatching my DVD’s of Parks & Rec, and I’ve been reminded of how bad her hair was in the early seasons: a harsh yellow color, terribly overprocessed, and an unflattering cut. *This* hair may be casual, but IMO it’s a 100% improvement over a few years ago.

    • Clydette Wantland

She looks pretty but the dress flattens out her chest.

      • BayTampaBay

I had the same thought. This dress needs boobs.

    • http://angrynerdgirl.net/ Jessi03

I love it. It’s not perfect, but her hair and her face look fabulous. Also, that is the facial expression of a woman confident that she looks fantastic.

    • Sam Smith

      Chrysler Building fine-ness.

    • AnnaleighBelle

Sassy! I’m pretty happy with this. Her makeup looks lovely, too. I’m not excited about her hair, but I’m not mad at it.

    • Michelle

The photos look good – maybe it was my tv, but I thought the dress made her look very thick when she was presenting.

    • golden_valley

The bodice does not flatter. It was made for a boobless person and hits a real woman in a way that makes her look droopy.

      • stonecoldcuddlewhore

huh. I was going to say that I really like the way she shows off her assets. I find it subtle and sexy.

    • Coleen

I’m not wild about what it’s doing to her midsection, but otherwise she is smokin’.

    • withbreaththatisbated

She looks hot. I don’t know if it’s the divorce, dating a younger dude, or just being out of the having kids stage, but she has been making some great strides in her style.

    • Zoey

She looks cute…like your cool next door babysitter went to an awards show. I think the hair is too beachy for all the sparkle.

    • TinyDynamo

She looks gorgeous! She also looks happy & confident & relaxed & comfortable. Amy Poehler RULES!

    • TheGrandSophy

Looks good. I quite like the soft waves too.

    • MissFern

i loved this last night and i love it more today

    • AlisonHendryx

It looks so heavy, and the look of being weighed down, plus the stripes, makes her look wide across the waist. No bueno.

    • higgledypiggledy

Love her, but the hair is about the only thing I like here. The bodice is not flattering to her boobs or her torso and the dress looks kind of heavy. And I think she needed a little more color in either her jewelry or her makeup.

    • LJCdoc

Completely obscures her waist. I no likey.

    • scimomma

love this, but it looks like the weight stretched it out, or she lost a few extra pounds this week, and it’s stretched out. Needs to be hiked up and taken in by 1/2 inch for perfection.

    • Imasewsure

I think it’s a great dress but not her color (maybe not anyone’s color? Not sure)

    • appliquer

Girl – love you, but that is not your dress.

    • frannyprof

She posted a pre-Emmy pic of herself on FB and I thought she looked fab… something happened on the way to the Nokia and it looks less fab.

    • AC Simons

Tinsel!!! She does look pretty and happy, but this has some Christmas tree ornamentation going on.

    • crash1212

I love her and I like this dress. Her head is perfect and the dress would’ve benefited from a good hoik…it’s almost like the dress is so heavy that it stretched down and down and down. Everything is about 2 inches too low.

    • Akemi

I love this dress. She looks great.

    • Imasewsure

This sounds stupid but this dress would have been perfect on her in a light chiffon (I know I know… the entire dress rests on the shiny shimmering beaded glossy fabric). Still a simple slightly flow-y dress in a similar cut… then send this one to Sophia Vergara!!

    • Alyssa

I love it, but that just might be because of her. She is the best.

    • https://www.facebook.com/pages/Words-in-Design/158664667624412 Tejana

This would look great — if she were a tall black model!

    • MissusBee

Someone’s fairy godmother is earning their keep. Bibbidy bobbidy freakin boo. Lock up your princes, bitches. Mama’s taking them all home tonight.

    • http://tvblogster.blogspot.com Boop

She’s wearing Goldie Hawn’s dress – and that’s not a bad thing. Mama’s looking great!

    • Lori

Silver & shiny is my personal kryptonite, plus she’s the best, so I love this.

    • Cee Layton

It makes her look a tad thick-waisted, and I wish the straps were a tiny bit shorter, but I love her and the dress.

    • http://www.chifleschips.com Stefanie Argudo Mackenzie

I love it. Hate the hair and the Vacation in Cancun bracelet, otherwise it’s great.

    • Call me Bee

While I generally don’t like the “just got out of the salty surf and didn’t comb my hair look”, here, with this dress, it looks perfect. Miss Amy looks like a classic California girl. Well done!!

    • Nancer

She looks really pretty, but am I the only one who thinks this looks like it’s hitting her waist wrong somehow? It just looks a little droopy.

      • Mothra

Totally agree. And some extra bosom would have helped a little.

    • marlie

It’s nice. I’m not in love with the lack of shame this gives her in the midsection, but overall it’s still not bad. I hate her hair, though. This wash-and-go hair trend needs to die.

      • gloriana232

Ditto. Needs an up-do. Maybe sleek and polished?

      • conniemd

The hair and dress seem to be fighting with each other. They went to two different events.

    • OffToSeeHim

      So pretty!

    • bunnydiet

Not flattering on her at all.

      • Mr. J.

I agree. She looks so happy….so there’s that.

    • Nika E

      Love

    • evave2

She looks lovely. In the thumbnail I thought she look TOO “movie star-ish” but in full she looks terrific.

    • guyfromhoboken

I am not a fan of blonds in silver…the warm tone of the blond seems to compete with the cool tone of the silber. Also, yeah…where is the waist? This dress makes her look straight up and down.

    • alyce1213

I really like this on Amy, so glammy and sexy, but the waist is widening — even on the model. It could have used some optical illusion — inward diagonals instead of horizontals — to visually bring the waist in.

    • countervail

Sorry, I think she’s trying too hard to look like a disco ball. This is someone I’d expect a more sophisticated and flattering than a sequined halter top dress.

    • seehowpretty

The best she has ever looked. Love it.

    • Lex

The fit could have been better at the waist and chest but she looks great overall

    • smh4748

Silver isn’t her color. But other than that, I think she looked pretty darn good.

Also, Amy, I love you and wish you would be my best friend and I mean that in the most non-creepy way possible.

    • Paula Pertile

I loved this. Probably not the best color for her, BUT WHO CARES. She can get away with just about anything.

      • wontons

She’s just radiant in whatever she wears. It does seem a bit heavy, though.

    • B_C_J

The hair does not match the glamour of the dress.

    • http://www.redriverhistorian.com texashistorian

Love Amy Poehler, hate this dress. It looks heavy, ill-fitting (top half) and actually bland, even though it’s of course not. It just washes her out and overwhelms her.

    • MissAmynae

      Cute and Confident.

    • Chase

This is the very definition of Somebody Else’s Dress. Not sure whose, just not Amy’s.

    • ailujailuj

suck it in, baby… suck it in. but you look fabulous.

    • PinkyK

It’s just wrong, not doing anything for her bod.

    • suzq

On a tall, statuesque model, the dress is stunning. On Amy, it just doesn’t translate. When she came up to present, I thought she was in a short dress until the camera pulled away.

    • understateddiva

I really like this neckline on her. She looks pretty, but somehow this looks too safe? A weird thing to say about a silver sequined dress, but there you go.

    • moxx

When she strutted her way up to the stage after being announced as Beyonce I was like damn, girl.

    • GemFemme

She looks amazing. President Poehler (in my dreams) can do no wrong in my eyes.
Her bangle with what looks like pink tourmalines in it is gorgeous. Me want it!

    • Man Dala

You go and conquer the world, Leslie Knope!

    • Linderella

For the first time EVER, I don’t hate Amy Poehler’s hair. Has the world just slipped off its axis, or what?

    • Therese Bohn

I’d be happy to be her sister, or even cousin!

    • livesarah

I think she looks pretty damn good. She doesn’t have an hourglass figure, but it don’t think she particularly needs to be given the illusion of one. She looks nice and trim and the dress seems to fit her quite well. It’s a bit adventurous for her, but she pulls off that glamourous look quite well.

    • SoAnnaPropriate

It looks like paint peeling off a 1985 Toyota Corolla. I know, I had one.

    • grasshack

she’s just naturally cute, but her beach girl hair doesn’t match the shiny mermaid dress.
      oh! wait a minute…

    • kimmeister

While both nice, the dress and the bracelet totally clash with each other.

    • quiltrx

That’s a seriously pretty gown. But I’m wondering if it’s too heavy for its own good, or the good of that horizontal band at the waist. It looks like there’s some weird dragging-down/pulling-up going on making a belly illusion.

      • BLauDGaspode

It does seem way too heavy, and I wonder if that is what’s making it seem kind of shapeless and blah. But I love Amy, so I can’t say I don’t like it, because I somehow still like it anyway.

    • MilaXX

She looked fine. My Amy love won’t allow me to dislike it.

    • Evil Edie

Yes, the dress is fierce. And Amy Poehler is smart, funny, sublime, and then incredible.
But it is not cut for her. It is meant for someone six and a million feet tall. And as much as I love and devote my life to Amy… Lady, that is not your dress.

    • MarissaLG

I think she looks really great, but that bracelet makes zero sense.

    • HeisenbergHattie

The fancy FANCY dress with the messy MESSY hair. Someone please explain this to me in a way that makes sense. Thanks.

    • mdcoon127

She looks like she wore JLo’s handmedowns…and it didn’t flatter through the bust…

    • demidaemon

The bust is sitting way too low and her hair looks like it was wash and go. I like it from the waist down, though.

    • LibKat

The dress looked okay on TV, but in still photos it’s making her look blocky. She needs to do something, ANYTHING else with her hair. And though I love the bracelet on it’s own, it makes no sense with this dress.

    • Chuck Barthelme

      Brava!
