Kate-Bosworth-InStyle-UK-Magazine-September-2014-Issue-Valentino-Dress-Cover-Girl-Tom-Lorenzo-Site-TLO (1)Kate Bosworth covers the September 2014 issue of InStyle UK magazine in Valentino photographed by Max Abadian and styled by Arabella Greenhill.

On conceiving her first biological child with husband and film director Michael Polish: “I know that it’s going to be tough, but Michael and I will find humour in it. We’re already convinced that our kids will do things that are hilarious.”

On becoming a stepmother and her maternal instincts: “After ordering pizza for the third time when she [Polish's 16-year-old daughter Jasper] first started coming over, I knew I had to learn how to cook because I wanted to nurture her. These maternal instincts kicked in.”

Sheer shirred patchwork, Laura Ingalls style. What’s not to love?

      • Mary Roberts

I browse Kelly’s journal last month and determined to feature her story in our native job report. In our phone interview she told Pine Tree State her superb story. “I essentially build regarding $6,000-$8,000 a month on-line. It’s enough to well replace my previous jobs financial gain, particularly considering I solely work regarding 10-13 hours every week from home. This is what I do,,,,,,,,,,WORkbuCK.CO&#77

      • Mrs. Julien

        Everything you just described?

        • Sarah

Yup. Did my sarcasm not come through?

    • sugarkane105

That dress looks infinitely better on the cover than on the runway. I love when they play up the different colors in her eyes.

      • BackseatDriver

The runway dress has patchwork of solid tulle, the cover version is made of different fabrics. It has texture and lace.

        • evave2

Thank you for answering my question above: I did not think about the fabrics being different, I thought it was photoshopped to look more vibrant.

          • MarandaGodbolteam

I just >OPEN NEXT TAB FOR MORE INFO AND HELP

      • ankali

I was just thinking that I prefer the more watercolor-like version on the runway. Either way, though, it’s not great, Bob.

    • http://fibonaccisequins.storenvy.com/ Danielle

I will forever be insanely jealous of her different colored eyes.

      • Aidan B

I never knew that until now! Wow!

      • alyce1213

        Mila Kunis has that too.

    • Anna

This girl literally has no other projects to promote. Not even a lifestyle web site.

      • lbl

She has a movie going to TIFF, but based on the cover tagline I don’t think that’s what she’s promoting.

        • Buckeye666

Interview was probably done right before the movie was picked to show at TIFF. Same with why no mention of the Style Thief app, probably done right before she signed on for ST.
But other than that, she really isn’t promoting anything but herself and her first year of marriage. To paraphrase another comment, her PR and management really earn their money with her covers. She acts, but the movies don’t really get much notice. And she really doesn’t seem to do much mocketressing anymore either.
While there’s definitely Photoshop going on with the cover, at least it still looks like her. Unlike the Lucky cover from last year.

      • Eva_baby

White. Blonde. Pretty (but not too pretty). Skinny (but still looks healthy) . An actress who looks like a model (cuz who uses real models anymore?) but isn’t really busy acting so she can be booked quickly in a pinch at the last minute without any scheduling hassles. will work for “fashionista” cred.

      • stonecoldcuddlewhore

I agree. She wears clothes well but so do a lot of other people. She must have the most amazing publicist and management team ever. I get the skinny, blonde, well bred thing but nothing she does ever gets traction. Most of her stuff is VOD these days, or on very minimal screens. Seems weird that she still gets covers.

        • Anna

Besides going to Coachella and the odd movie role you mention, I really don’t know what she does. Jessicas Alba and Biel, Blake Lively and all of those other “mocktresses” are dull to be sure, but they at least appear to be working.

      • Lisalady161

I think your post sounds realistic. I’ve not seen her in much of note for a couple of years. And I really, really didn’t like her Lois Lane.

        • Anna

Agree with you on Lois Lane. I will admit to having a soft spot for Blue Crush, and I loved her athletic figure in that movie, thought it was the best she’s looked.

        • ankali

I’m not a fan, but to be fair to Bosworth, Lois Lane is a terrible, terrible role. Amy Adams’s version worked, but that’s because her Lois got to completely circumvent the “I’m a crack reporter who nonetheless can’t recognize the world’s most prominent man when he’s wearing his glasses” problem.

      • marlie

And this is all they have to talk about with her?

        • demidaemon

It’s InStyle. This is almost intellectual for them.

      • demidaemon

I think she pretty much helps co-promote most of her husband’s projects as well.

    • Alyssa

Her eyes are so beautiful! The dress is very eye-catching on the cover, but I dread seeing it ever show up on the red carpet.

    • Jeremiah Capacillo

Loving the cover. Great job InStyle! The Valentino looks so much better on her than on the model. Also, girl that’s your face. Reminiscent of Michelle Williams’ awesome makeup job for her Louis Vuitton campaign.

Her sound bites sound a bit preachy and rehearsed. Careful Kate you might catch the goop.

    • nannypoo

I hope she joins a parenting group.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1234087433 Jen Freeman

Its amazing how gorgeous that dress is on the cover, and how drab it is on the runway.

      • Kitten Mittons

The fabrics look totally different on the cover version. A lot more texture, which works better in my opinion. The colors look more vibrant, too, which may or may not be the lighting. I agree, though, the runway version looks drab in comparison.

Her eyes are mesmerizing. Love the whole cover look.

        • Qitkat

They really ARE different fabrics as @BackseatDriver:disqus noticed; while it’s a bit on the precious side, still a really interesting take on using lace as patchwork.

          • Kitten Mittons

Yes, most definitely different, but I prefer it. I’ll take precious and interesting, though, over other possible combos.

    • MilaXX

      It’s a’ight.

    • http://angrynerdgirl.net/ Jessi03

Kate Bosworth is still a thing. Huh.

      • imspinningaround

Ha. To steal a phrase from Oh No They Didn’t, who’s still checking for her?

    • Bad Idea Jeans

Wait, she’s married to one of the Polish brothers? That…is…INCONCEIVABLE.
      I hate that dress.

    • AlexisPayne

OMG, the sound bites! After ordering pizza 3 times in a row she realized real food might be needed, like real mothers!

      • Nancer

        I know! Too funny.

      • homofascist

A Real Mother knows to just order Thai food as well, as well as Indian. It is important that your children learn about other cultures.

    • KateMaryC

First time she has looked like an adult. She looks stunning. I love how in the cover shot, you can see the lace patterns in the quiltwork. Much more interesting than when you see it from far away.

    • MarissaLG

Beautiful cover, boring soundbites. Is she there to promote her family?

    • http://www.ellenciompi.com/ NurseEllen

Blech. I can’t decide if I hate the model’s dress or Kate’s dress more.

      • another_laura

Thanks, Newly Retired Nurse Ellen, there is someone else who hates it.

    • KES4K

I can’t believe the best they could do under a Valentino was a dingy grayish camisole. It’s not as if there aren’t a million seams to which to tack a lining if need be!

    • Anapestic

From those sound bites, I’d have to guess that neither she nor the interviewer was bringing their A game. The dress is not to my taste, but it looks better on the cover/on her than it looks on the runway.

    • Nancer

I just have to say that her face looks stunning!

    • smh4748

“We’re already convinced that our kids will do things that are hilarious.”

That’s amazing, Kate. Just like EVERY OTHER PARENT IN THE UNIVERSE. Let me guess: you’re convinced that your kids will also be beautiful and brilliant?

      • http://redheadedwolf.wordpress.com/ Laura Renee

To me, she sounds incredibly uneasy about being a mother (maybe a cause of being too sealed up in Hollywood/celeb life) — like, “kids do funny things, right? There’s some payoff to everything I’m going to go through, right??? We’re going to find humor in this!”

        • demidaemon

I feel like that quote particularly needs a lot of context that hurts its use as a soundbite.

    • Kent Roby

She is scaring me with that icy stare. I’m too afraid to tell her how much I hate that mess of a dress.

    • http://www.youtube.com/user/TheOctocornNetwork International Model

So…her interview questions are about food and having a big belly?

      • http://redheadedwolf.wordpress.com/ Laura Renee

Probably there were other questions, these are just the ones TLo selected as being most comment-worthy?

        • http://www.youtube.com/user/TheOctocornNetwork International Model

It triggers PR spinning as the only other facts I know about Kate aside from her eyes are rumors of eating disorders. Buying greasy food and a willingness to distort her body for motherhood are good ways to spin those whispers away.

      • raeb23

according to the cover, the interview is about her first year of marriage…it seems that she doesn’t have any work to promote

        • http://www.youtube.com/user/TheOctocornNetwork International Model

…you mean, there’s no Beyond the Sea 2?

    • ashtangajunkie

Gorgeous shot of her – I am happy to see her without that slicked back, migraine-inducing tight topknot she prefers.

    • SewingSiren

I love that dress on her. Very 70’s down-home chic.

    • Wattage

      Zzzzzzzz….wait, what?

    • evave2

Don’t the colors look much more vibrant on Kate than on the model? Is it a slightly different color or did they photoshop the color?

She looks great on the cover.

      • Chartreusite

Definitely a case of different lighting and photoshop, I think. It’s an easy thing to improve; it took me like 5 minutes per photo I did for my senior project to make the colors more vibrant and the result was really great.

      • boweryboy

It’s a different version of the dress. The runway version looks like patchwork chiffon and there’s no black in it. Her version is patchwork lace heavy on the black.

    • YousmelllikeAnnaWintour

What does she do for a living again?

    • carrie

      FACE.

    • lbl

      It’s a beautiful cover. I can’t complain.

    • crash1212

That cover is the best Kate Bosworth has ever looked. She should hire those hair and makeup people to follow her around 24/7.

    • boweryboy

The runway version of that dress is so much better.

    • Hoffa_w_HerHead

She may look good, but those are some seriously photoshopped cheeks!

    • Carolina E.

If you wanted a Natasha Poly look alike woman, why don’t use the real Natasha for the cover? Dude, she even has more (interesting) projects than Kate will ever have.

    • NinjaCate

She’s promoting…. her marriage? I don’t mean to snark (okay I do) but she’s ALWAYS in lady mags and I can’t remember the last movie she’s actually had to promote.

    • yllas

Is she pregnant? With her eating disorder, she must be terrified beyond all reason at the thought. Hope someone is watching her to make sure she doesn’t starve the fetus.

    • http://armchairauthor.wordpress.com/ LesYeuxHiboux

      1) This is the first time she has ever looked remotely interesting.
      2) When rendered in different laces and textures, that dress goes straight to cheap. It started at iffy.

    • frannyprof

Not sure why we care about this gal any more… Pregnant or not… And what is the deal with the “biological child” thingy?

      • demidaemon

She has a stepdaughter, as the later quote emphasizes (though, from other interviews that I’ve seen, she seems to be pretty involved in her upbringing).

    • OffToSeeHim

Have to laugh at the “maternal instincts” kicking in for the 16 year old. Sure they did. Because 16 year old stepkids inspire that. It’s their warm fuzziness that does it. And they’re always so excited that their dad is remarried. Whatever.

    • mdcoon127

She looks more mature in this picture than I have ever seen her, and it is a good look…

    • http://www.dreaminlace.com/ DreamInLace

      That is one FAB cover!!
