    • Sarah

      I LOVE those swirly gowns.

      • Thomas

Yeah, the only gown I really like here is #11 down. I think I like it because it reminds me of a Chihuly.

        • Sarah

Anything that reminds one of Chihuly’s work is aces, I say.

        • StrandedFashionista

I agree completely. It’s the only dress that I’d actually probably gasp seeing if it was on the right woman in a magazine or on a red carpet. Lupita could probably rock it.

          • EmilyMullasWilson

A few of these dresses look like they were MADE for Lupita to rock them! Some gowns should just come with a “FLO” (For Lupita Only) warning label.

    • decormaven

Talk about cut up to there wear….whew. I like a glimpse of leg but that is Showgirls level.

      • Beardslee

Yes. How do you move in those? I know these are runway looks, etc, but I do wonder if the designer ever had the models do anything as unfabulous as sit in these things during the design phase.

        • marlie

Probably not. I doubt the designers think about how these garments look “in the real world.” I’d bet their focus is on the most dramatic runway look, the rest be dammed.

      • what not

        Or Heidi Klum’s.

      • conniemd

Yes, but despite that they don’t look JLo type tacky, because they are still of gorgeous looking materials and interestingly designed instead of merely revealing. His designs feel like classier Versace.

    • Anna

Alexis Carrington by way of J-Lo.

ETA: Although I do love cocktail dress #9, and it would be fun to see on the right ladystar.

    • Meg

Some of these are giving me a Versace vibe… and not in a good way

      • Thomas

I got a Versace vibe as well.

      • homofascist

I was thinking Versace too, although sort of a grown up, less rock n’ roll Versace. Like the wealthy mail-order Russian bride is no longer in her 20s and wearing Versace and going out clubbing, she’s in her 40s at home, purring at the pool boy and trying to do a cougar take down of her son’s high school friends. I’m probably reading too much into this, but I am at that point on a Friday where I want that life. And budget!

      • conniemd

Yes, kind of a shame, because they could have looked so much better if they hadn’t made uts so high or skirts so short.

      • Lucía Gavello

See, I knew there was a reason I was thinking “Heidi, Paula, JLo” and so on.

      • sleepycat

OMG! YES! I thought either Murad is going Versace or Versace is going Murad. I suspect the first. Hmm…Versace must be making money. As Homofascist said this is definitely the “older” Versace woman.

    • a_liking

why do I like the second gown from the bottom so much? it’s just a fancy caftan but I LOVE it. all in all very pretty. can’t wait for someone fabulous to rock some of these.

      • quiltrx

I really like that one too for some reason. it’s like a big ol’ cape and dress all in one…I think the beadwork or whatever it is, making the pattern, makes it something special. I think the right/wrong skin tone could really make or break it, though.

    • Gatto Nero

Nothing new here. Old-school tacky, mostly.

    • hughman

      I’m hoping Miss California wins.

      • Wink

Yes… some are very “Miss USA evening gown competition.”

    • MoHub

Enh, except for the bridal gown.

      • demidaemon

I don’t even really like that one because it looks like they glued tinsel all over it, and it reads a bit cheap.

    • Thomas

A couple of exquisite gowns, but as Hughman pointed out, a lot of Miss America/USA looking stuff here.

    • Alyssa

I love some of these, but some are giving me a Paula Patton tacky vibe.

    • Nancer

After all of the (mostly) ridiculous men’s collections, it’s so nice to see clothing that is just beautiful. I am so happy! Is it perfect? No. Is it lovely to behold? Yes! Thanks, TLo, for all of the pretty!

      • sundaynightaddict

I was just coming to comment the same thing! The women’s collections have been a pretty breath of fresh air after so much WTF-ery with the men.

    • http://www.robertjamesfischer.tumblr.com Theda

Yawn for the most part. The black tuxedo is beautiful.

    • MilaXX

Nothing new here and all very JLo/Kardashian/Vegas showgirl.

      • http://www.snoskred.org/ Snoskred

I could see our girl Laverne Cox in some of these for the Emmys. I like the 6th dress down for her but perhaps in that gorgeous teal aquamarine colour we see further on down the page. :) Please fashion gods, let it be so.

    • demidaemon

It’s a little too slutty princess for me. About the only dresses I really like are the multicolored print dresses.

    • http://foodycat.blogspot.co.uk/ Alicia

It was Zuhair Murad that did those branching vein dresses J.Lo wore, isn’t it? I think I preferred them.

    • marlie

I’m calling it: JLo in the second-to last one (before the wedding gown). I give it a month.

These are very pretty, and very Murad. Some are a little too much, and some are a little too “beauty pageant” but I like this collection overall.

      • Anna

True! I can see her in the silver beaded mini one too (size too small, naturally).

        • marlie

Half of this collection is meant for JLo, and she’ll wear everything in a size too small.

    • Jaeda Laurez

I am #TeamMoreIsMore all day erryday, so although there were a couple that I wasn’t fond of, most of this I actually LOVE. The second and third gowns from the bottom hit all the JLO-y notes I need, and that short turquoise joint is super cute too.

    • Julie Chase

Oh, those two patterned gowns. I covet.

    • Alison

Goooooooorgeous, although I fully admit to being a serious sucker for sequins. Not a hard sell in this corner.

    • Danielle

The makeup is on point. I thought a couple models were Kate Moss while scrolling.

      • marlie

I thought the “bride” was Kate Moss!

    • Corsetmaker

      Dynasty

    • israel8491

Pretty, but a lot of the shapes are odd and awkward.

    • Lisalady161

They are for the most part very pretty and that black and white gown is a sure stunner. But what I like the most are the belts! They’re unique but also seem like they’d be versatile enough for other looks.

    • Imasewsure

Love and hate…. some are gorgeous… some overwrought bordering on silly. Gorgeous fabrics even in those fails though

    • KateMaryC

If today’s collections are any indication, we are still in a Maleficent phase, heading toward Cruella DeVille.

    • Anique Ashraf

These are lovely, if expected red carpet gowns. The second to last gown (which is honestly a little tacky) would improve tremendously by being on Florence Welch.

    • jilly_d

Gorgeous! *scrolls back up to resume playing celebrity pretend stylist*

    • FibonacciSequins

      Overall too Dynasty for me.

    • somebody blonde

Love that sassy little black-and-white jacket. The gowns are great too, but since I’m not in the gown market, I’ll covet the jacket.

    • KT

Some of these are very beautiful (especially the first look, despite the vaginal illusion it’s creating), and some are straight up tacky town. Overall there’s just a little too much boob and leg on display, some wonky silhouettes here and there, and a few too many elements on some of these looks. But you can’t deny the incredible workmanship or the dramatic flair on display.

It must be said though: as a whole, this collection strikes me as the tackier cousin of Elie Saab.

    • Lily

#11 is GLO. RI. OUS. Must see that psychedelic wonderment on the Red Carpet. Now to play “who will wear it first?”

      • Thomas

That’s the one I like as well!

      • altermyego

        Cameron Diaz?

    • Glam Dixie

I would love to see the #2, 3 and 5 on Angelina Jolie, they are right in her wheelhouse but with a little more edge.

    • Heather

I feel like these were made specifically to be worn at the MTV Music awards.

Side note: I want the jacket in pic #7.

    • Aidan B

I foresee Heidi in a lot of these. I’m thinking she could rock the second from the bottom, but unfortunately I expect her to end up in one of the tighter, shinier ones :-(

    • Latin Buddy

This collection has JLo written all over it…but sadly Kanye will make sure there is a Kardashian skank to it first.

    • John11581

8th look down has Cate written all over it.

    • save_the_hobbit

That beaded black gown that looks almost crocheted…gorgeous. And that royal blue long-sleeved dress…now THIS is a collection I like to see.

    • kimmeister

Oddly enough, the most interesting look for me is the white pantsuit with the chest peephole.

    • SuzyQuzey

I can already tell which ones Kim K will be wearing.

    • evave2

Doesn’t #2 with the illusion netting across her chest and the black thingies surrounding it look like she has a MOUTH (the better to eat you ALL UP)? That dress freaked me out.

    • GemFemme

Like every other Murad collection. Wash, rinse, repeat. A designer shouldn’t be a slave his/her aesthetic. You can be creative and surprising within your aesthetic.
I do like the more full ballroom type gowns. That seems new.

evave2, I see evil black space fungi erupting over the models chest when I look at that dress. It is freaky isn’t it?

    • Sophie

Dress number 11 is spectacular, but I don’t like much of the rest.

    • FridaStaire

J Lo in the cobalt one shoulder goddess gown. Salma in the vertically divided black and white. Lupita in the cut-to-sterum silver. Scarlett in the aqua semi-strapless. Beyonce in the second swirly strapless. That’s all.

    • quiltrx

The pieces I like best are giving me a Balmain-ish vibe–mostly those two short silver dresses (1 big picture, 1 little). The bomber jacket (which seems out of place) is very Balmain to me too.
Those swirled prints are divine–should have used more of that.
I kind of like the silver halter dress above the bomber jacket, but I can’t figure out what that is at the waist.
And I love jewel tones–but the shapes here really make them look dated.

    • uprightcitizen

I would be very surprised if Sophia Vergara hasn’t already locked up three or four of these gowns.

    • Jeremiah Capacillo

Half of this collection will be worn to the Grammys.

    • lilibetp

I love the teal gowns and the red halter the best.

    • sunflower

I usually like some Murad dresses, but this looks very beauty pageant to me

    • Martha Anderson

wow a tough crowd here. I dont know this designer from anyone else but I see a ton of red- carpet gonna sees here. I like the line and cut of most of them. Yes the shparklies could tone down and they would still look great.

That short, teal colored dress is for Kiernan

    • BlairBear

Ellie Saab with several added shots of tacky . Like the two patterned gowns they are lovely

    • understateddiva

      Gorgeous craftsmanship; tacky shapes.

    • jojo bunnies

I really feel like Jennifer Lawrence could rock most of these. why is she wearing Dior again?

    • http://armchairauthor.wordpress.com/ LesYeuxHiboux

I think this collection would have come across better if all the models were women of color. As I was scrolling down the only real impression I had was that these are clothes for Ariana Grande and Zendaya Coleman.

      • altermyego

Kerry Washington and/or Olivia Pope in some of those black and whites.

    • altermyego

Does anyone want to go searching for a ‘good china’ pattern with me?

    • Tami from Seattle

Kayne of Many Colors is designing for them now?

    • queen b*tch

      #6 took my breath away
