Huh. I love/hate this dress, but she looks great!

    • teensmom99

I know that the BKs have been trained to hate all the busy-ness of this dress but I think she’s rocking it. I don’t even mind the non-seasonality. I”wondering if I have to turn in my BK card today.

      • Kent Roby

This isn’t the craziest of the PP dresses; plus it’s just so refreshing to see any color in this B/W summer.

        • teensmom99

Does this mean I can stay?

          • Kent Roby

I say “yes”, but I often dare to disagree with the group, so you should probably get permission from someone else!

          • 3boysful

          • Nancer

Even bitter kittens purr sometimes…. :]

      • marlie

I’m with the bitter kittens who like this. I’d get rid of the waist treatment, but even then I don’t really hate it. Overall, I love this.

        • butterflysunita

Vera Farmiga is making a Peter Pilotto work. You have to hand it to her.

      • Nancer

It’s the tacked on embellishments that aren’t exactly my favorite thing, but the color and shape is so great on her that I’ll allow it! :]

      • d4divine

She can rock anything because she is a gorgeous confident woman, but if what she’s wearing is over designed, then she’s a gorgeous confident woman wearing an over designed dress.

    • BLauDGaspode

I kind of think the same thing. This is a Peter Pilotto that I don’t immediately hate, and that must be saying something.

  • RussellH88

There is too much going on here, and none of it’s pretty. Everything about this looks labored and forced, nothing chic or organic about it.

    • You’re probably right but I am of the Kaffe Fasset school of fabric love!

    • bitchybitchybitchy

There is a lot going on here, and Vera is giving it her best, but it’s still a Peter Pilotto. Time to go back to my craft cave and break out the muslin for the PPilotto voodoo doll

      • demidaemon

When you are finished, please post photos! 🙂

        • bitchybitchybitchy

I’m thinking that I really do need to do this. It’s a great excuse to visit the fabric store and find a simple pattern for a doll that I can then customize.

          • demidaemon

Indeed. You can then create the Peter Pilotto, Stells McCartney, and Raf Simons voodoo dolls. Just made for pinpoint pleasure!

          • bitchybitchybitchy

They could be large pincushions for those BK’s with sewing skills, as well.

      • ankali

While you’re at it, could you stick a few pins in the Simons and Slimane dolls? Just for funsies.

        • bitchybitchybitchy

          Your wish is my command.

    • Rhonda Shore

i don’t love the dress but this is the best i’ve ever seen her look, she is beyond radiant.

    • Kristi Mitchell

I’d probably like it more if it this were October/November-ish, but as it is, long sleeves in July/August just makes my eyes twitch angrily and makes me feel like she should be sweating profusely. (Could also have something to do with the fact that it was 116 here in AZ this weekend).

  • When I saw the title I thought that made sense – of course Peter Pilotto’s awkward, cartoony clothes would work for ComicCon. This dress isn’t really the best example though. It looks like someone fell over carrying a box of Christmas baubles.

    • conniemd

I said the same thing. Peter Pilotto and ComicCon should work together. But this dress is an odd Pilotto as he usually matches fabrics and styles in weird ways. Sadly this dress is weird for the craftiness and is solids rather than crazy prints.

  • Her head looks great, and I think the shoes suit the dress, even if I’m not fond of the dress itself.

  • Love this dress but I don’t like how the blue background makes the red look cranberry. The runway option looks so much more gorgeous!

    • Sophie

I was wondering about that, maybe the lighting also changes the colour a bit? In any case, I do agree with you in all points.

  • Kitten Mittons

She never ever looks like I think she should look. And that second shot looks like SJP. Meh.
I do not care for any of this. Off season, not very pretty, and not very flattering, either.

  • Pennymac

Why is melted Christmas candy stuck to the front of this dress?

    • L’Anne

      Story-fy it:

Oh, Little Vera. She drank and she drank of the egg nogg, feeling its warmth and creaminess. She loves the holiday season, with its bright lights and shiny baubles. OH, the colorful clothes she can wear! And my! The candies and their wrappers! Why, even as an adult she revels in the exceitment and splendour! That party, well. A good time was had by all, she thinks a she tidies up, taking plates and dishes of those loved candies back to the kitchen. But OH! She trips! She falls on the heating vent on Christmas Eve and only just woke in the summer. Oh no! She must rush to a revelry with some geeks, and there is no time to change. She hurredly brushes her hair and runs off, candy-crusted dress shining in the summer sun.

  • stellavision

I didn’t look at the title of the post and then wondered, “Why does this dress have at least two design elements too many?”

    Because it’s Peter Pilotto. Duh.

    • demidaemon

Two seems a bit on the low side (I count at least four) but yes to the general idea.

  • JynxTheCat

    not rremotely appropriate for ComicCon

  • nannypoo

Heavy, unflattering, overembellished – yep, that’s the look I’m going for.

  • imspinningaround

Why is she holding her clutch that way?

    • Kitten Mittons

She’s got a flask in there, but she lost the top in the limo. She has to keep it upright until she can get the ladies’ room.

  • Anna

The craftiest Office Manager at the holiday party!

    • Kitten Mittons

And the drunkest. Kids at home, do not use the glue gun while you’re still wearing the dress.

  • Freynika

I actually like this dress, and I was all prepared to hate it on the scroll-down. But still, full lenth sleeves in velvet (?) and severe shoes? At Comic Con? No.
That said, I can’t wait for this show to come back on, especially that Norman’s got the full-on crazies now.

  • conniemd

What was strange is that before I saw her awful dress, I thought, “Comic-con, aha, a place where a Peter Pilotto design might actually work.”

  • joancarol

Is she holding a cheese grater?

    • Anna

So considerate of Vera to offer freshly grated Parmesan at Comic-Con.

  • Wink

This dress looks “wintery” and it has a lot going on… but she really makes it work.

  • MartyBellerMask

She looks amazing, but the dress is weird.

  • AndieJay

The dress looks like she walked smack into a many-paned window, and all the shards of glass stuck to her bloody form.

  • MissusBee

It’s venue appropriate (nerd pinup), smartly styled and suits her. It really depends on whether your eyes can deal with all of it. And whether it’s maybe a teeny, tiny bit too tight. Hard to say as it’s meant to be curve-hugging and she has a great figure, but the way the split in the skirt is pulling looks awkward to me.

    • Grumpy Girl

Yes, between this and a previous outfit of hers featured here, it appears she has more hips than she is willing to acknowledge. The length is better on her than the model though.

  • Janet B

I’ll assume this was for a cocktail party and not a panel discussion.

  • PastryGoddess

I really like this dress and those shoes are giving me life.

    • Shawn EH

Not nude at all but rose, that’s a very smart choice for the cray-cray dress!

  • MilaXX

This is the best she has looked in a really long time and it’s way too dressy for comic con.

  • Quit giving this man your fucking money and attention, Hollywood.

  • FibonacciSequins

Wrong for ComicCon but gorgeous. She looks great.

  • Dino Bonačić

she looks… lovely. that’s the word. LOVELY.

  • Mr. J.

    Boy, does she look good.

    • Shawn EH

The dress is weird, but she’s werqing it 100%!

  • evave2

She looks wonderful. I like that the dress brings in the tummy roll (at least that’s what it looks like, and I would LOVE to find this at a price I could afford).

  • Peri7473

Why is she wearing her holiday party dress in July?

  • maretha2

I think she looks fantastic, and she even sold me on the dress. Whether it’s event-appropriate I’ll leave to the BKs who attend or want to attend Comic-Con, but in photos at least I think she looks really good.

  • marlie

The business around the waist is a little too much for me, but I mostly like this look. I think Vera’s hair and makeup look great, and I really like the colors and the embellishments on the dress. And these shoes are actually working for me.

  • Kbear

It looks like a tray of sushi.

  • cocohall

If this was a full length gown, and she lost the purse and wore black stilettos, I think she could make this look sing at the Comic Con venue as the BEDAZZLER. She just needed to push it a bit further.

  • frannyprof

Loving the face and hair. Amazing. Just not sure the outfit is right for the venue? Although I do love the color and fit of the dress.

  • BobStPaul

I don’t like the dress but she actually looks better in it than the model.

  • d4divine

I love the dress, except for that unnecessary fabric at the waist…and the side panel…and the slit. On second thought, I don’t like the dress.

  • GillianHolroyd

Is this an homage to Candy Crush? ugh

  • appliquer

    It is not winter!

  • KT

I like it! I think the sash across the middle was maybe a bridge too far, but this is a cute head-turning look. Love the shoes too — coordinated but not too matchy-matchy or distracting. I’m digging her hair, too. This might be too dressy/heavy for a comic con event, but whatever – get it girl.

  • formerlyAnon

The impact of that dress is greatly diminished by the loss of the diagonal gathers?, intentional wrinkles? running down from the model’s right hip.

    • demidaemon

Yeah, I don’t know what to call theme either, but everything below the waste looks like thrown up design detritus to me.

  • gitchygitchymama

ah she and her kids got the glue gun and made a bland dress special . bonding can be fun over a glue gun.

  • Jeremiah Capacillo

That’s a holiday party dress if I ever saw one. A pretty hiddy holiday party dress. Props to her though, she almost makes it work.

  • Lisalady161

I despise most of Peter Pilotto’s stuff, but Vera looks lovely here and the goofiness works for the event.

  • msdamselfly

    Great look

  • Comfy

Why is she holding her clutch like that? Is she selling it?

  • Heather

She looks hot. Those shoes suck.

    • kimmeister

I’m mystified by her selection of those shoes. They have nothing to do with anything.

  • crash1212

I love this dress on her. Love. Everything is perfect…until you get to the shoes. I don’t mind the color, it’s the cut and the heel. Not very flattering.

    • ktr33

I agree. This straight-across cut on the front of the shoe seems to be dominating, and I don’t like it. The feet always looks chopped off at the toe.

  • suzq

  • demidaemon

It almost wasn’t terrible until I scrolled down to the waist, and then, in traditional PP fashion, way too many colors and design details were thrown at the belt thing at skirt. 🙁

  • Judih1

Great dress, but wrong venue for it. Wish she had worn shoes like the model, which gives the look an edge

  • She’s so striking. Why does she wear such ugly clothes?
