    Quirky girl prom dress.

  • Mothra

Needs an iron, or a steam. Not loving.

  • Jacob Marek

Who cares what she’s wearing? She’s TONI F*CKING COLETTE!

    • MM4321

      You said it!!

  • Denise Rambo

I like the top MUCH better with the long black skirt. That ivory skirt isn’t doing her any favors.

    • Rhonda Shore

absolutely and it’s not just the color, it’s the cut. Black ladypants would have been good too…

      • Violentcello

Yep, that was exactly my thought. Cool, swishy Hepburn pants.

    • Anna

The ivory skirt makes her look frumpy – and Toni Colette is not frumpy!

      • uprightcitizen

I think it’s the combination of the shoes and the skirt. WIth a skirt that full and that length, you don’t want to cut the remaining part of your silhouette (the legs) right at the ankle. Imagine that skirt a four inches shorter, with a very light sandal with no ankle straps and it suddenly looks a lot less frumpy. Still, she looks pretty danged fantastic, but that’s mostly because of her awesomeness.

    • TippiH

And it’s too heavy for that gauzy blouse

    • Janet B

The full skirt is looking costume-y on the model, she never had a chance.

    • evave2

I agree: the long black skirt would look so much better here just because the taffeta wrinkles up so easily.

  • susan6

Add an apron and a couple of beer steins and she’s ready for Octoberfest.

    • Rhonda Shore

In that case, maybe the look needs lederhosen!!!

    • Judih1

yep or if she had a deck of tarot cards in that horrible bag, she would be a gypsy

    • ReadBarbara

I got a more Mexican Cantina vibe, so I’ll say “Add an apron and a couple of Margaritas and she’s ready for Cinco de Mayo. That’s a very versatile, worldly outfit!

  • Mrs. Julien

Naeem Khan is a warm aesthetic hug.

  • Objection

The cool, slightly drunk aunt at the Quinceañera.

    • J.W.

      I’ll second that!
I actually like it with the black skirt.

  • hughman

    “Volling in ze hay…”

    • MilaXX

      kinda Springtime for Hilter, no?

      • decormaven

or “I’ve been with thousands of men/again and again/they promise the moon/they’re always coming and going and going and coming… and always too soon.” You can tell the BKs are Gene Wilder fans.

        • rh33

Don’t forget “a hamper for your socks and poo poo undies.”

          • SewingSiren

What exactly is it that you do do?

          • Raspberry2012

“You men are all alike! Seven or eight quick ones, and then it’s off with the boys to boast and brag! WELL YA BETTER KEEP YA MOUTH SHUT!! (*oh, I think I’m in love!*)”

        • Jackie4g

Not to overlook Mel Brooks. Please!

      • KinoEye

“Springtime for Hitler: A Gay Romp with Adolf and Eva at Berchtesgaden.” I guess Toni is Eva.

    • Kitten Mittons

    • MoHub

      It’s fun!

    • Raspberry2012

Yeah, it’s very “Inga! It’s time to milk the cows!”

  • KateShouldBeWorking

Bless her heart, the poor dear looks so pleased with herself.

  • Grumpy Girl

The earrings and the purse would work better with a different outfit. The purse, I could gladly toss out, but I am trying to be nice and perhaps there’s something out there with which it is the perfect accompaniment…

I too prefer the black skirt version of the outfit.

  • MilaXX

I don’t know if I like the midi skirt with this. It looks a little Swiss Miss. I think this would have been a good time for high waisted black pants.

    • Wink

      “Yodel ay hee hoo!”

  • Plink

No, just no. Bulky and unflattering, unattractive bracelet coupled with an equally unattractive clutch. Cute earrings though!

    • ballerinawithagun

      I love the bracelet!

  • Kitten Mittons

Her makeup looks lovely. Ditch the earrings, bag, and shoes. I don’t mind the skirt, but I long for a big belt.
    I like that bracelet, though!

    • ballerinawithagun

I just posted above to someone who thought the bracelet was unattractive, I love the bracelet!

      • Kitten Mittons

I like the call back to the top it makes, and I think it’s more successfully done that the attempt with the shoes. I’d wear it in a heartbeat.

  • Introspective

i agree with all bks that referenced the deutscheland action going on here, and the need to switch that wonky skirt for a black bottom.

let me also say how much i prefer her as a redhead. this ashy blonde against her skin and with this outfit is a total washout…

    • MilaXX

So many lady celebes make me say,”why blonde?”

  • Dino Bonačić

A thin line between cool & breezy and cheap.

  • Nancer

I think she looks lovely, but should have swapped out the white skirt for the long slim black one. As is, this reads a bit too peasant skirt for the red carpet. At least she resisted the hair braid!

  • Annmarie Kane

The shoes are fighting with the earrings and the black would have looked better, but Toni Colette!

  • Danielle

Wow, I hate the skirt she chose.

  • Heather

I like this more than I think I should… it’s probably because I like her so much, I’m being overly forgiving.

  • marlie

SO happy to see Toni Colette out and about, but I’m only “meh” about this look. I think I would have preferred the peasant blouse with a more streamlined bottom. Still, her hair and makeup look mostly great (LIP COLOR, PLEASE).

  • jason

  • Gloriana Reginata

Shame she didn’t go for the red, which would have been a bit more unusual in the flood of black and white currently hitting the RC. But the earrings are fun and her smile is beautiful.

  • Shawn EH

Why does she always look slightly under-medicated to me? Also, shoes, cuff or blouse, but not all three!

  • SugarSnap108

This would have been miles better with the black skirt or, better yet, skinny black pants.

But she is Toni Colette, and I automatically love. Actually, we had a whole procession of glorious ladies today — Thanks, TLo!

  • AlexisPayne

That is a lot of look.
I feel like she should have gone with the black skirt.
What claw machine did she win those accessories out of?

  • C2inCT

“Loud was the voice of the lonely goatherd–Lay ee odl lay ee odl-oo”

  • Wink

I like the cute way her nose scrunches when she smiles.

    • Kimberlini

Bunny noses are a sign of Botox use.

      • Wink

I didn’t know that! I’ll be on the “look out” now:)

  • lunchcoma

This dress is FMO. It’s making even a slender, sophisticated woman look like a blowsy peasant. I shudder at what it would do to mere mortals.

  • E. D.

I like it, but the skirt is too long.

  • DagnyReardon

Top would look great with black cigarette pants.

  • SewingSiren

Cute 1940’s peasant vibe. But I like the red top better with the white

    • Imasewsure

You are right! Kind of a Dorothy Lamour with bad spanish accent vibe for sure

  • NurseEllen

It’s a long way down for most people, but in that dress she’s starting a lot closer…..shouldn’t be much of a fall.

  • LesYeuxHiboux

She looks great. Cool, comfortable, happy with who she is and the point she’s at in life. The skirt is maybe a smidge too long for my taste, but I can’t hate (anything but that raggedy cuff.)

  • FibonacciSequins

It’s charming, but I would have chosen the black skirt with the black and white top. Nice shoes but a simpler style, with fewer straps, would have worked better.

  • Gatto Nero

It’s sweet, but a sleeker (and slightly shorter) skirt would offset all the gathering in the top. As is, there’s too much fabric bunched around her middle.

  • kimmeister

I like the top, skirt and earrings, but the shoes and bracelet have got to go. Naeem Khan’s wife designs jewelry, how cool is that?

  • teensmom99

Too literal a version of something Jane Russell would have worn . . in 1952.

  • rebeemoon

    But seriously, people. Those earrings!

  • crash1212

I’m loving everything from the waist up. I don’t even hate the shoes, but that skirt has GOT to go. I’m thinking if she’d chosen the long black version it would’ve been stunning.

  • Imasewsure

I like the long black skirt better but this is really cute and matches (my version of) her personality really well.

  • macwell

    The black skirt – totally…..

  • KT

I love her, but NO, SWEETIE. The black skirt would have been way better, but even then, this might be a bit too costumey. Also, that gold bag is tragic.

  • Dreamwr8tr

The white skirt makes her look stumpy and she’s 5’8″.

  • Sophie

Not a great purse, and she looks like she’s wearing a costume. I’d have liked it with the long black skirt.

  • Richard

Sooo closeee. Just switch out the white skirt for an appropriate black piece, and she would be perfect. Oh, and if she got a new purse.

  • Pablo

The shoes look awful, but I honestly don’t know which ones could have improved the look.

  • Jacqueline Wessel

Yes to the black skirt. And, someone should have adjusted the top. It’s pulled up too high in the middle which creates a frown across the top edge making her look droopy. I think the sleeves could have been pushed up a little, too. Then they would be puffy and perkier.

  • ktr33

Why oh why not the black skirt? And the purse is really bad and the earrings are much much worse.

  • Boobs Radley

This is reading very “Alexis Colby goes to Acapulco”.

  • quiltrx

Love the top, but I wish she’d done the black skirt. That white skirt is the friend of NO one.
She, though…always awesome. I love her wrinkled-nose smile!

  • Garcia Loca

What in Eastern Bloc peasant hell?

  • gitchygitchymama

    Loving the metalic floatation device.

  • JynxTheCat

She ans Uma need to play sisters.

  • demidaemon

This is not a good look. She looks like an extra from “Flamenco Lovers in Madrid,” which is a totally made up movie.

  • MannahattaMamma

Love her, love her smile, and her general sense of “oh please people don’t take this so damn seriously it’s just a MOVIE.” But in actual fact that dress is bad souvenir from a cut-rate Mexican holiday.

  • FridaStaire

Imagine this on Salma Hayek – with the black skirt.

  • MoHub

Between the ankle straps on the shoes and the length of the skirt, her legs look like stumps. The skirt hem needs to stop at the knee, and the shoes need to be rethought entirely.

  • Innuendo

I like the shoes and cuff, but not with that outfit. Top and bottom proportions look off. The skirt is the biggest problem I think.

  • MissusBee

She went full peasant. Everybody knows you never go full peasant.

  • DuBey2

Out. Even on the model the schlumpy skirt looks awful & unflattering. Also, hate the use of the gold clutch here.

  • NBG

Ugh, she should have gone for the black skirt. That white skirt does not look like it will flatter anyone! The cuff and earrings belong with another outfit and the clutch should be burned. Sorry, Toni. I love you but this is not your day. Have a pizza and don’t worry about spillage because this should NOT be worn again.

  • bluefish

Love the top — Would have looked great with slim black trousers. Too many do-dads. Would’ve taken off the cuff. The clutch is interesting but not in gold and not with this. She is beautiful though. Great face.

  • Tami from Seattle

Those earrings bring to mind a 10-year-old girl’s version of Movie Star jewelry.

  • elemspbee

that’s awful. it hurts to see this so early in the morning. hair and shoes are awful. Outfit is a mess. Face is a bit washed out looking.

  • MinAgain

I wish she had worn the long black skirt.

  • AndieJay

She looks like an extra in an Italian opera.

  • ReadBarbara

Not a fan of the dress (I think it makes her look lumpy) or the earrings (Claire’s sale rack) but her head and wrists look phenomenal. Hope the movie’s good. I loved the book.

  • mdcoon127

    The bracelet is awesome

  • melanie0866

I think she looks great. She’s one of my favorite actresses, though, so I’m biased.

  • BigWhiteGrannyPanties

Love her pretty smile. Then I scrolled down and said aloud: “Oh? Oh. Well hell.” Dammit Toni.

  • Kathy

She looks like she hasn’t taken the botox, plastic route, and she looks glorious!

  • amanda lynn

I (obviously) just looked at the posting with Melissa McCarthy at the ‘Tammy’ premiere – and I’m thinking that this dress would look absolutely LOVELY on MMC. I mean, Toni’s rockin’ it, of course. But I feel like it could be covering up enough for MMC to approve.

  • dschubba

I LOVE this lady, but I don’t like the clutch/cuff pairing. She looks great from the waist up.
