Tilda Swinton and Cate Blanchett’s imaginary daughter gets to strut her stuff.

Seriously, we want Cate and Tilda to adopt her and be her drag mothers. We feel like the world could benefit from it. We know this editorial certainly could have benefited from having the two of them standing on the sidelines and pushing her Mama Rose-style to “SING OUT, LOUISE!” We love the clothes, which are all well-suited to her, but the pictures are kinda bland. Your drag mothers would never stand for such mediocre face-giving, young lady.

She kinda has some Chloe Sevigny in there too, it seems.

      • kimmeister

I totally got Chloe from the fingers-in-mouth shot.

        • shirab

Looks like Chloe as a second-grader wiggling a loose tooth.

          • SugarSnap108

I was going to say ‘removing her retainer,’ but I think your assessment is better.

      • http://www.dogsdotcom.blogspot.com/ Plink

        Exactly!

    • Thomas

I actually don’t think her face giving is half-bad for her age and amount of experience.

      • conniemd

Totally. The best deployment of photography of a Dior in ages: being pulled apart as in WTF is this ensemble?

    • lundibleu

I think she’s better than she was at modelling, so maybe her imaginary mothers have already started imparting some wisdom…

      What’s with the elastic bands?

    • Bridget Smith

She’s actually Tilda Swinton’s wild little sister!

(See Only Lovers Left Alive, kittens, it is MARVELOUS. Swinton is magnetic and eight different kinds of effortlessly fabulous, and Hiddleston ain’t so bad either.)

      • Eclectic Mayhem

Loved it, looking forward to the Blu-ray coming out in August!

      • bitchybitchybitchy

OMG, yes! Wasikowska was so good as Tilda’s naughty little sis-yet another pleasure in “Only Lovers Left Alive”. Hope the blu-ray has some extra features!

    • Twigg

I’m not in love with the pictures, I’m glad to see little to no photoshopping. When was the last time we saw arm hair in an editorial?

      • http://twitter.com/janedonuts Jane Donuts

Was thinking the same thing. In the one where she’s looking down, you can actually see the texture of her skin!

        • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_QFW22QV426LUOEPGASPZJWJMDE MishaFoomin

I, also. Is this something this magazine does? Is it their thing?

      • gorghast

Oh, there’s quite a bit of photoshopping, particularly around her eyes.

        • Richard

Some photoshopping is to be expected, but it’s great that they still made her look as natural as possible.

      • FitzyandDizzy

As a professional photographer, trust me, there’s plenty of photoshopping. But it’s low key and it does look like they kept the “body sculpting” to a minimum which is refreshing. They actually left some arm hair and shape to her forearm in the Dior image!

    • Gatto Nero

Great, but why does she have her thumb in her mouth?

      • nannypoo

And is she shooting a rubber band? What is the point here?

      • schadenfreudelicious

She looks like she is about to pull something from her teeth, not an attractive pose….

        • marlie

That’s EXACTLY what I started to type. Why pose like that?

          • demidaemon

It was so weirdly infantile yet trying to be sexy. Needless to say, the entire effect was creepy and bad.

        • Sarah

She’s adjusting her retainer, of course.

          • SugarSnap108

I should’ve scrolled down before commenting.

        • http://foodycat.blogspot.co.uk/ Alicia

Yes! It’s the “damn I have popcorn stuck in my teeth” pose.

      • kimmeister

Licking her fingers after surreptitiously eating the Cheeto she had stashed in her red pocket?

    • Glam Dixie

She needs them to give her some lessons in face giving because those shots are flat.

    • Annistella

the shot in Dior is meant to highlight the design of the dress I presume, instead it looks like she is sayin ‘$6000? its not even leather!’ (Cyn, Working Girl).

    • frannyprof

I love that she seems confused by the Dior.

    • Trish Austad

Gorgeous! All she needs to put her over the top is a 10 minute session with Tyra Banks on smizing.

    • marlie

Mia is SO pretty, but these photos don’t do her justice. I also really hate the photo with her hand in her mouth. I mean, who does that?? The clothes are cool, though; just right for her.

    • Miss wks

      Sissy Spacek’s grandchild….

    • Sarah

All of the poses are serving to make her seem like a middle school child. At least for me, that’s the last time I had orthodonture and the desire to fuss at my clothes and/or flick rubber bands at people.

    • Noah

I’m not quite sure she has the presence to pull these off, unfortunately.

    • Jen

love that mental image of the adoptive mothers standing off stage

    • NMMagpie

Filtering a lot of the saturation out of these shots is doing no one any favors. Pretty pedestrian, but the cover is nice.

    • Sophie

The red pockets look like they swallows her hands, and the model’s as well. I like that Paco Rabanne top on her.

    • demidaemon

That is some WTF posing. I don’t get it.

    • DesertDweller79

I, too, am enjoying how she seems confused by the Dior dress. As most people are these days.

    • littlevase

This is the first time in forever that I’ve seen lightened eyebrows successfully deployed.

    • StelledelMare

I will sell my soul for that coat on the cover.

    • boweryboy

I’m getting more of a Chloe Sevigny vibe from her. But even Mia looks confused by the hot mess that is Dior.

      • ecallaw1977

Totally agree, I think it’s a Tilda/Chloe combo, not Cate.

    • Jacob Bowen

I think her face looks like Gwenyth Paltrow mixed with a smidgen of Natasha Lyonne.

      • http://foodycat.blogspot.co.uk/ Alicia

In the thumbnail I definitely thought Gwenny.

    • beebee10

“Sing out Louise!” You two are geniuses!!

    • MilaXX

Interview magazine always looks washed out and bland to me. These feel like they should be better than they actually are.

    • https://plus.google.com/+FrankLithiumz/posts Frank Lithium

      Meh.

    • quiltrx

They did pick some killer clothes that are well-suited to her. I wonder why they went so neutral (as in her face is disappearing) with her makeup?

    • http://kittysdrawings.com Esz

Haha the dior pink thing she is looking at the shoulder flaps and thinking “WTF are these for?”

    • uprightcitizen

The one where she’s holding the salmon-colored dress open in a state of WTF is brilliant. The clothes are mostly pretty cool, and those big red pocket flaps are pure awesomeness.

    • HomeOfficeGirl

      Most. Boring. Shoot. Ever.

    • decormaven

These are some great fashion choices, but she is bringing no verve to the shoot. Pity.

    • greyhoundgirl

Love the clothes–HATE the fingers in the mouth shot. Combination little girl lost and bulimic.

    • Lindsey Romain

Tilda and Mia even play sisters in Only Lovers Left Alive <3

    • fananafanafophalec

I want her and Saoirse Ronan to team up and inherit the thrones from Tilda and Cate

    • Shelby

I kind of think she looks like Chloe Sevigny in some of the shots…

    • Snailstsichr

I would love to see Tilda or Cate in those black pants – the ones with the red pockets.

    • jspark

      I want that chain belt.

    • Clash D

LOVE THE CLOTHES. Especially the Celine and the Paco Rabanne.

    • P M

Oh man. That Celine = The Return of The 90s.

    • Watts

Actually, she’s going to play Blanchett’s lover in the upcoming “Carol” so let’s not go too far down the mother/daughter path….
