Darlings, we’re on VACATION! Miss Lupita is expressing our feelings on the matter:

We fully admit that, because we’re on vacation, we chose the easiest post to kick off the week. Because if there’s one thing we know about our kittens, it’s that a fabulous picture of Miss Lupita is all you need.

We happened to catch that inadvertently hilarious Liam Neeson movie, Non-Stop over the weekend, in which Lupita plays a flight attendant who has no more than 3 or 4 lines. Even then, she stood out. The lady’s got star power.

This is one of the few times the “pop of color” shoe is working for her.

Enjoy that Well Earned Vay Kay, Gents. Huge Hugs from Kiltd.

Viva Lupita, indeed! This dress is fabulous on her. The only quibble I have is the “having the best time EVER!” that too many ladystars are fond of on the cover. I know, it’s a shoot, not her, so there’s only so much control she has over that–but it distorts her face, and it looks natural on no one.

    • evave2

I 1000% agree. Everything is mega-right about the shot EXCEPT her expression. I wish they had used another one with her Mona Lisa smiles, the one where she knows something and will never ever tell.

The Valli collection was my 2nd favorite (after John Paul Gaultier) and she looks great in this dress.

    • YourBaloneyDontGotNoSecondName

I respectfully disagree. Yes, that expression is overdone. But not for Ms. L here. There is so much life in her smile, it could raise the dead.

    • oekmama

On the other hand, the caption on the cover is saying, that she’s become a superstar in less than a year. doesn’t she have a right to be happy about that?

      • Skippymom1

I agree with you and YBDGNSN – her smile is what does it for me. It seems truly genuine and I love that. She isn’t playacting here.

  • Dorothy & Michael n/a

Hope you’re going someplace you’ve been dying to go to and have never seen before. That’s what vacations are for, right?! Have fun. Come home safely.

  • Gayer Than Thou

When you have a face like that, I’m not sure why you would want anyone looking at your shoes, but it’s a quibble. She looks lovely here, and hooray for her getting magazine covers!

  • Kent Roby

Lupita, Yay! That’s a lot of dress, but it certainly works well on the cover. The best thing about this dress: after wearing it once (because, who would ever be caught wearing a dramatic gown more than once anyway?), it can be used to make draperies for the entire house, with plenty left over to recover that old tufted sofa!
    Y’all have a terrific vacation!

    • FrancisWhiticker

What the FÜCK? Gay bïtch you need your skull crushed.

    • KateShouldBeWorking

A reverse Gone with the Wind!

      • judybrowni

That’s one stupid, fucking flouncy neon yellow upholstery dress.

And Miss Lupida makes it sing!

        • KateShouldBeWorking

Do you suppose there is an industrial fan all up in there or perhaps it’s on marionette strings?

    • Skippymom1

I seriously thought she was sitting on an upholstered sofa that her dress matched until I saw the model’s pic.

  • Laura Renee

I would love to appreciate this look, but I can’t stand that open-mouth expression. It’s ruining everything for me.

    • FrancisWhiticker

      She’s awaiting her fathers cöck.

    • Jennifer Schiller

I agreed. It also looks so forced. She’s such a genuinely radiant person that the wide open “I’m having fun” mouth and hands on thrust out hips reads fake to me. And she really never seems fake. Maybe that’s just me, though.

      • smayper

        Not just you.

      • Introspective

love her look but agree that the inside shot where she’s obviously posing could come across as realer than the open mouthed “fun” shot.

still she’s just so beautiful that im verklempt at this cover anyway…

(ps for shits and giggles, just google image lupita, and let all the various versions of her gorgeousness flood your computer screen, and bask in the glow of her. I just did it and it made a drab monday that much better)

        • Jennifer Schiller

Oh I absolutely agree she’s stunning, which is why the whole college girl at formal pose just doesn’t do it for me. She’s still gorgeous, but there seems to be a lost twinkle.

Also, I’m not necessarily convinced on the styling. I don’t really like the dress, even if it is giving life to the picture, and the matchy blue eyeshadow and and shoes don’t really work, plus the colors together read Snow White with the red, blue, and yellow.

    • Kent Roby

I think she truly IS this happy, just because she’s not wearing matchy shoes!

  • NMMagpie

She’s fabulous, as ever. Have a fantastic vacation!

  • Anna

Lupita Nyong’o: Inspire la Planete. Indeed, more Lupitas and less Blakes on magazine covers.

    Enjoy the well-deserved vacation!

  • MilaXX

Just what I need on a Monday; a happy picture featuring one of my favorite people in sunny yellow!

    • FrancisWhiticker

      She’s black.

    • Jaeda Laurez

Her smile is infectious. So sunny and gorgeous.

    • Snoskred

Plus new cute photos of Prince George also makes for a happy Monday. And, I saw Octavia Spencer in a gorgeous yellow dress over the weekend on the Daily Mail. Can’t seem to find it now though. :)

  • Danielle

    Easy, breezy, beautiful cover girl.

    • FrancisWhiticker

      Dumb nïgger whöre.

  • NurseEllen

She’s a winner and I do love the shoes but my perception of French magazines, even lighthearted ones like Elle & Vogue, being somehow less lowest common denominator than their American counterparts just went out the window after reading those teasers for the articles inside. They’re every bit as vacuous as ours. Quel dommage.

  • Judy_S

It’s hard to remember that she tore my heart out in the one movie’s I’ve seen. Her mode in regular media seems to be to heal all ills.

  • TinyDynamo

She. Is. LUMINOUS! And she’s making that dress sing. All hail the gorgeousness that is Lupita!

  • Patrick Scott

Such a radiant start to the week! Lovely!

  • Sophie

I don’t actually like her expression on the cover shot, it just looks fake. The other picture is much better. I also like the dress better when its bow is less obvious, as on the Lupita rather than on the model. Love all the bright colours.

    • conniemd

Who would know it is a bow without looking at the model.

  • Jessica Freeman

Perfection for this stormy Monday morning. Enjoy your vacay Uncles!

  • teensmom99

Ladies, that yellow was meant for Lupita (and if you don’t have her coloring, fuggedaboutit).

    • Wink

I have an intense (irrational?) dislike of this shade of yellow. But she totally nails it! Bowing. Down.

  • Jeremiah Capacillo

This bitch is crossing into my “she-can-do-no-wrong” territory.

  • Mothra

If a person can wear yellow, then there is a biological imperative that you wear yellow. She is someone who can wear yellow, although to be honest, Yellow Wears Lupita. Brava! She also looks happy and you all know how I feel about smiles and happy.

  • HeisenbergHattie

The “inadvertently hilarious” comment has me wondering ….

  • NBG

Joyful Lupita is better than coffee to start the day.

  • decormaven

She’s having maximum fun! Hope you two are as well.

  • FibonacciSequins

TLo, I hope you have as much fun this week as Lupita! appears to be having here. Thank you for the Monday morning jolt of energy!

  • Jacqueline Wessel

Ah, these are such joyous pictures. Love her in the yellow and that dress really benefits from a wind machine.

  • Lisalady161

A dose of shiny, happy pretty is just what I needed today! Thank you, TLo and have a lovely vacay.

  • luluransom

A bientot Uncles, thanks for the farewell Face!

  • marlie

I just love that cover photo. The color of the dress looks great on her, and she has such a fantastic smile. Attagirl, Lupita!

  • Glam Dixie

I love that they picked a picture of her smiling and the bright yellow is fabulous on her but they could have picked a better picture, this one can’t be the best one of her beautiful face.

  • Thomas

Lupita is one of the few stars who can rock yellow. And I think her smile is her best feature. It’s so radiant.

  • bitchybitchybitchy

Why not start the vacay posts with Ms. Lupita-she’s got starpower to burn! Love the way she’s working the dress on the cover. “Non-Stop” was a hoot!

  • Eclectic Mayhem

The powder blue of the shoe is insanely gorgeous on her, just stunning.

  • somebody blonde

Lupita looks fabulous, but is anyone else disturbed by “La fin du topless a la plage?” I loved the freedom of topless beaches in France and Spain! Someone please reassure me they’re not ending!

  • EEKstl

    Le fabulous.

  • JackieOBlue

    Enjoy your much deserved vacation!

  • SewingSiren

She can make a done to death dress look fresh and new.

  • LJCdoc

Not that I’m complaining about this, because, obvs, but if you’re on vacation, shouldn’t you be NOT working, Uncles?

  • VioletFem

This picture m makes me happy.

  • Man Dala

    Absolutely gorgeous.

  • CatLady

If only we could start every week with a fabulous Lupita photoshoot.

  • Jacob Bowen

Lupita’s shoes are SO much better than the models….that’s a first.

  • Skippymom1

Her legs are why they coined the term “. . .all the way to her neck.” Wow she is stunning.
