Katy Perry Celebrates Fourth of July at Walt Disney World Resort in Marc by Marc Jacobs

Posted on July 07, 2014

We’re pleasantly surprised to see that she didn’t come dressed up like Minnie Mouse. Then again, it would have been a total “who wore it better” moment and it’s best for any star to try to avoid such comparisons when they can. You don’t go up against Minnie on her turf. She’ll sic Daisy on your ass and then you’ll wish you’d never been born.

Anyway:

Granted, she did mouse-ear hair, which is probably a little too on-point (not to mention greasy-looking) but that dress is crazy-cute on her and makes a really good choice for the venue. It’s not fighting with the clothes of the giant rodents on either side of her, but it still manages to stand out.

When did Mickey’s nose get so big that it started obscuring his vision? Is it allergies?

Love that dress on her but that hair…ewwww.

      • http://attiresmind.blogspot.com/ Kiltdntiltd

I get what she was going for with the hair, but it really looks like too much product in play. I want to throw her over the sink and wash that stuff out.

        • ChaCha_70

Exactly. Way too much product. Too bad too cause it could’ve been such a cute look.

        • jspark

I think the amount of product is on point. She’s going for Chola chic in the head area and then 50s print dress in the body. If anything that’s the disconnect. But I bet she wasn’t the only girl at the theme park with big hoop earrings and slicked back hair.

      • DebbieLovesShoes

Looks drippy. Or if she laid her head on the back of your sofa, she’d leave an outline.

    • Jessica Freeman

The bangs. Yuk. I love the rest.

    • AnnaleighBelle

Is that a prison tear by her eye?

I love her and she’s so cute and appropriate here.

      • Kent Roby

It’s a world of laughter, a world of prison tears.

      • schadenfreudelicious

KInda goes with her OINTB hair she’s sportin…

      • Alyssa

        I think it’s a Mickey mouse head.

        • Raspberry2012

          Ohhhhhhh, I get it now!

      • karonf

It is a Mickey head. There is an interview with her on Disney blogs where she said she found it in the car and stuck it on. Having been to Disney World many times I know that Mickey head confetti gets everywhere so I halfway believe her.

    • crash1212

      Cute dress. Horrible hair.

    • RussellH88

The hair looks kinda gross and has way too much product in it, but I think she did a really smart move with the dress. It really fits the venue but in a way that is a bit unexpected and it doesn’t dip too much into Disney Drag (though, I’d still prefer that. Drag is always best, at least for me)

    • Mothra

That hair gave me a fright.

      • The Counselor

An awful fright? What a sight! (Chase ‘em away! Chase ‘em away!)

    • gabbilevy

Love that the dress plays off Minnie’s eyeshadow/lashes (deliberate or no). The hair is deeply unfortunate, but unsurprising from Miss Katy.

    • OffToSeeHim

Hate that hair with a wild, crazy hatred. The model’s hair is adorable, I’d have gone with something like that.

    • Mary Lauer

At first I thought there were weird white puffed shoulders, but no, that was Mickey’s hand, ha!

    • jilly_d

Is she growing out bangs? Cuz I’ve done it several times and it’s hard, but honey, this ain’t the way.

    • http://www.chifleschips.com Stefanie Argudo Mackenzie

If she’d have come up in there dressed in ANYTHING Disney characteresque, the licensing folks would be all over her ass faster than Daisy. Seriously. Those folks don’t fool around. There have been several instances of people who came dressed like Disney characters who were promptly escorted off the premises.

      • StelledelMare

Well that was partially because they didn’t want little kids to mistake other customers in costumes with actual employees.

    • NinjaCate

      What’s with the pseudo-chola hair?

      • egurl

And earrings. And heart “teardrop.” *side eye*

        • NinjaCate

          Right?

        • sugarkane105

I checked other sources (aka YouTube), and it looks like she has a small, shiny Mickey Mouse sticker by her eye, rather than a tear drop. The more you knooow!
Still doesn’t excuse the hair though.

          • egurl

How does that make a difference though? If anything, that’s even more fucked up that she used a kid’s image to imitate a teardrop tattoo…

            • sugarkane105

It never crossed my mind that that would have been her intention. I thought it was just a cute place to put a sticker.

        • conlakappa

She had just watched Mi Vida Loca?

          • MilaXX

Maybe it’s her tribute to Prison Bae

        • Raspberry2012

Yeah, I don’t mind the hair so much, but the “teardrop” is giving me a problem.

    • KateShouldBeWorking

On Katy in this venue, I like the idea of the mouse-eared hair but, sweet Jeebus, that is some horrible execution.

    • MarieLD

Disney World is dry, so Mickey must be hitting Epcot for some booze and it’s affecting his nose.

      • karonf

Not anymore. All the parks at Disney World serve alcohol now although in the Magic Kingdom is it limited to one restaurant at dinner time. Plus you know Mickey has private stashes everywhere.

        • demidaemon

With Donald and Goofy as his best friends, I think anyone can understand why he needs it.

        • MarieLD

Wow. it’s been too long. (For me. Haven’t been there in 8 years.)

    • MarissaLG

Romper’s cute but Katy looks super busted from the neck up.

      Minnie is perfect as always.

    • Janet B

Cute. So glad she didn’t go with a giant bow.

    • Noah

“You don’t go up against Minnie on her turf.”

      Dead.

    • Jaeda Laurez

Did she really try and bring back baby hair? Let’s not do this, Katy Perry.

      • conlakappa

And somewhere Chili is thinking, why not me?

    • imspinningaround

FKA Twigs did the hair first and better, Katy.

    • MilaXX

The dress is cute, but why is she rocking baby hair like Chili?

    • NMMagpie

Dress is great; hair and makeup both need a do-over.

    • Danielle

Really missed an opportunity here. I think Katy at Disney, I sure don’t think tragic bangs and a Marc Jacobs dress.

      • BayTampaBay

Agree! I think above the neck she looks just plain awful.

    • boweryboy

I couldn’t imagine walking around Disney World wearing that get up because hot and also humid.

    • MissusBee

I thought she was done with that very hard make-up style. Not happy to see it back. I know she’s shooting for ‘cartoon’ but she’s Katy Perry. We take that as a given.

    • elleg929

      The head is a disaster.

    • Alyssa

Love the dress, hate the hair!

    • James

      Minnie is so cute.

    • http://www.luludoovis.com luludoovis

      Adore, is that you?

      • Imasewsure

Seriously… Adore does trashy Katy Perry better than Katy Perry. They should tour together…

    • formerlyAnon

Cute dress. Hair doesn’t appeal, but then, that’s not its point, is it?

I’ve never, ever complained about her schtick before, but I think this, entirely appropriate for the venue, ensemble may be where I cross the Rubicon. More than the ensembles, I feel in my gut that I am about to overdose on the silly mugging that goes with them. She’s too old, too pretty, and I suspect too smart, for this to be her stock-in-trade. It’s starting to feel like the former cheerleader who’s still doing perky-with-boobs at 38.

      • Constant Reader

        My thoughts exactly.

    • flamingoNW

I guess I don’t mind it buttoned up and I like it on her, but I much prefer the way the model wore it with the exception of the scarf stupidity.

    • TwiddlyStun

Well, she didn’t dress AS Minnie Mouse (as pointed out earlier, Disney does not mess around with allowing that), she certainly dressed LIKE Minnie Mouse, as in, the two of them may share a closet and hairstylist/earstylist.

    • YousmelllikeAnnaWintour

That blue eyeshadow makes Minnie look like a whore.

    • elemspbee

cuteness. I was somehow picturing this dress as floor-length. something about it being incomplete as a mid-thigh length. in any case, still very cute, hair and all. it’s just the hair is greasy.

    • Emily Smith

That dress is adorable and I want it.

    • teensmom99

Overly on ooint hair is what makes it Katy. So I’m all for it.

    • stubbornthoughts

Love the dress, hate the hair. Honestly, that hair is grossing me out.

    • http://dorothydamage.wordpress.com/ Dorothy Damage

FKA Twigs (and thousands of black girls in the 1990s. and quite possibly Bjork) did that hairstyle better.

    • Denise Rambo

I can’t say whether it’s appropriate for an amusement park because I can’t see what she’s got on her feet. But I will say that she was probably suffocating with those sleeves. (And I know she doesn’t have to wait in line like regular people but still, we’re talking Florida in July here.)

    • Shug

That hair should be illegal. It’s very Baby Spice; while I enjoy a little 90s nostalgia there are certain things that should be laid to rest permanently.

    • Jacqueline Wessel

Cute dress, glad she added a belt.

    • zuzu

Stephen Jay Gould did a paper a while back on the biological evolution of Mickey Mouse. He demonstrated that over the years, Mickey’s features became more childlike, and as that happened, his behavior became more warm and fuzzy. Check out Steamboat Willie sometime — he looked like a rat and was frankly kind of an asshole.

    • Raspberry2012

That is perfect, and ideal for the venue and the event! I don’t even mind the mouse-ear hair, it’s kind of a no-brainer for the whole look.

    • marlie

Totally cute dress, but I really hate her hair. Especially the part shellacked to her skin.

    • mrspotts66

did anyone else see madonna in the thumbnail?
      just me?
      mkay.

      hate the greasy bangs.
love the dress and the lip!

    • Latin Buddy

I love her. HATE anything having to do with Disneyland/World. I took my 3 nieces this past weekend there…I have never seen so much price inflation in my entire life. The way the layout their stuff, it is guaranteed to make every child go ape-shit at every corner asking you to buy it for them. Also, I never thought I’d ever consider this but I actually thought, wow, I should put a harness on my kid (I almost lost one…don’t tell my brother).

    • Betsy

The dress is totally cute and I even forgive the hair because I get what she was going for here–even though it’s literal.

    • snarkykitten

Nooope, that hair looks trashy as hell.

    • quiltrx

Really cute dress but the center seam in the skirt bugs..makes it look romperish. Perfect color scheme for the event. The hair though, trying too hard methinks.

    • Jimmy Phelps

And I thought Lacroix was de rigueur for theme parks…
