  • Thomas

I always like his stuff. I think he’s a creative genius. I wish we saw more stars wearing it. And CONCHITA!!!

    • Lily

      Perfect look for Conchita!

    • Lucía Gavello

My thoughts were “DRAMA, WERQ, CONCHITA!” in that order.

  • RussellH88

This is dramatic and amazing. Some of the looks are like if 80’s Madonna were guest starring on Penny Dreadful.

    • Mandypants1124

I was gonna say Elvira does Dynasty, but yours works too!

      • FuhUgh

Exactly! Elvira and Dynasty where right where I was going with this too. (with the exception of the red ribbon “bikini” under black film cape that I expect to see on Gaga at any moment) This collection is both fierce and matronly at the same time.

        • David Kresner

Matronly, with the Boca Raton sweat pants ankles

  • @Biting Panda

    Yas, dahling!

  • Jennifer Bober

Some of it’s over the top for my tastes, but a lot of it I really like. That houndstooth suit is spectacular and that black and white dress is how black and white should be done.

    • Kent Roby

The houndstooth really excites me, too!

    • evave2

I appreciate that it’s over the top. I think I know what you mean, because I actually have no point of reference for so many of the pieces, but dammit this is COUTURE. As for the clothes, I liked Valli better because I could see myself (IF I could lose a bit of weight) actually wearing that collection, but I could never ever see myself wearing this so I guess that frees me to see it as a work of art.

And doesn’t that one see-thru gown with the strips over the breasts and lady bits looks just like LEELOO from Fifth Element for (which he also designed the costumes, the only scifi movie EVER that had an actual view of future fashion IMO).

This is all such a work of imagination.

      • Levedi

Yes! I was just thinking Leeloo Dallas, Multipass! I love this collection.

      • Jennifer Bober

Wow, I hadn’t thought of Leeloo, but now it’s firmly in my head. You’re so right!

I appreciate the over the top too, I would just never see myself in it. I also think that the people who can pull some of them off are few and far between.

    • conniemd

I actually quite liked it even if it was over the top. The only things I didn’t like generally were the balloon shapes around the hips on the skirts. I love red and black.

Fur and fringe and sheer oh my!

  • http://angrynerdgirl.net/ Jessi03

Nice to know what Gaga’s going to be wearing soon.

    • Thomas

He’s good friends with Madge, so idk if she’ll be wearing him.

      • http://angrynerdgirl.net/ Jessi03

True, but I could see her wearing knock-offs of these that she bribed Donatella into making for her. Accessorized, of course, with a wig she pulled out of a dumpster and stuck a bag of cotton balls and craft glitter on top.

        • Kent Roby

I just laughed and threw up a bit at that comment!

    • jspark

I was thinking Evan Rachel Wood

      • StarburstLady

I’m seeing Kristen Stewart. Just me?

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_QFW22QV426LUOEPGASPZJWJMDE MishaFoomin

But she’ll be using dollar store wigs instead.

    • kimmeister

I felt like I just watched Lady Gaga’s “Alejandro” music video.

    • alyce1213

I dunno. Gaga seems to be getting her clothing (and wigs, etc) out of dumpsters and thrift stores lately. She doesn’t deserve this. (Is that too harsh?)

    • Miranda Reseigh

That’s EXACTLY what I was thinking.

  • marlie

Some crazy, some beautiful, some crazy-beautiful. I like this. I want to see a lot of these in editorials.

    • H2olovngrl

I want to see that last dress on Swinton!

  • HeatherMcIlrath

I love it! He’s always been a favorite of mine! and i love his inclusion of Conchita Wurst. She slays the catwalk.

    • hughman

Your avatar is very sophisticated. And frankly a little intimidating as it implies you’ve actually “done something” while the rest of us wrote our term papers on the bus this morning at the last minute. Well played!

      • HeatherMcIlrath

How lovely to hear! I’m a graphic designer, so my avatar is my personal logo that I designed for myself.

      • TinyDynamo

Wait – you think I’m NOT Lucille Bluth? I won’t hear it, and I won’t acknowledge it.

  • VioletFem

Dramatic and beautiful! Plus, I love that Conchita walked the runway!

  • Gatto Nero

The dip-dyed houndstooth print is interesting. The harem-cuffed pants are awful. A lot of this hurts my eyes without exciting me aesthetically.
    But Conchita looks fabulous.

  • Alyssa

This is how I like my couture collections. Some truly beautiful pieces in here.

  • sienna elm

LOVE it!!! I’ll take the grey lace hooded cardigan and the red ruched blouse please. Don’t worry, I won’t wear them together. ;)

    • hellkell

That blouse with a pencil skirt? BOMB.

  • mjude

i have to say i love it.

  • random_poster

I absolutely love how the hoodies are designed for big hair.

  • MilaXX

What is the world coming to when a Gaultier collection is one of the season’s most sane collections?

    • Crystal

      Drugs.

    • bitchybitchybitchy

I was thinking something along these lines when scrolling through this collection.I”m so used to considering Gaultier to be out there, and here he’s created some gorgeous, memorable looks, along with some cray-cray

    • Kent Roby

Gaultier’s wildest work is still well-designed, as opposed to collections that rely on obnoxious graphic prints (Jeremy Scott) or too much trickery.

      • demidaemon

It’s true. Even the stuff I usually balk at (like a fully unlined sheer dress), I somehow really like here. It’s magical.

        • Agent Sculder

I think it helps tremendously that everything here is well tailored and fits the models like a dream. You can see the amount of work that went into these clothes. When I think of couture, this is the kind of stuff I want to see. Much of it is fantasy, but it is just so impeccably turned out, you have to sit up and take notice of it. I also LOVE his choices of models. J-PG always has a variety of models, and including a transgendered person this year was a master stroke.

  • alyce1213

Gasp. This collection is beyond words. I’ll be coming back to it all day.

  • MightyMarshal

This isn’t a modernization of 80’s and 90’s style. This is a reiteration of 80’s and 90’s style. JPG always does over the top but this is bordering on tacky and there isn’t much of a through-line of consistency.

    • Gatto Nero

My exact impressions. We seem to be in the minority, though.

      • jhedman

A lot of it looks like Star Trek costumes to me… (ducking)

        • MightyMarshal

It looks like Glen Close in 101 Dalmatians the live action film. A not-so-modern take on Cruella.

  • MoHub

This is the most excited a collection has made in weeks!

  • uprightcitizen

Holy crap … to scroll down and see Conchita Wurst is awesome. And a lot of this is really striking, beautiful, and cool. Plus, it’s nice to see that Catwoman has a day job now (apparently).

    • evave2

Somebody was noting yesterday (?) re Asian models not being used (and the Asian market is huge) but here was one and she posed so beautifully to show off the outfit. Both she and the outfit were stunning.

  • Lori

I wish that I had the nerve, the money and the life to wear that 2nd look.

  • Qitkat

I am always excited to see the JPG collection, but after some of the amazing ones we’ve already seen this season, I’m not as whelmed. It’s all very dramatic, but pushes fewer of my buttons than usual.
The houndstooth suit is absolutely stunning however. And the red and black combos are mostly gorgeous, especially the 4th one down from the houndstooth, with the snood-like neck feature. And the coat two above that can find its way into my closet STAT.

This makeup makes some of the models look sickly, constipated and bloated. Ugh.

    • Sarah

Yes. Houndstooth suit! I also love that sequin ombre dress. Put that on Angelina Jolie, and BAM.

      • Qitkat

AJ, if only. It would be a Triple WERQ.

  • http://www.youtube.com/user/TheOctocornNetwork International Model

Modern Opulent Rich Bitches. The model who is working the see-through mink cape better get a raise.

  • Frank_821

Overall a great collection of walking art. It’s faboo that Conchita is included but I have to say I don’t care for her gown

  • hughman

    J’adore.

I love how he takes current design obsessions and carries them to the extreme but doesn’t use them repetitively. “You want fringe? BOOM. There’s your fringe all over the place. You want sheer? BAM. Here’s some sheer.3.”

He’s a clever and witty genius.

  • Sarah

Very very nice. Excepting the groin-exposing sweatsuit thing cuz to look at people’s coxal bones makes me think of their whole skeleton, which is off-putting, at best.

    • imspinningaround

I liked that one! It’s giving me overserved bubbe in Palm Beach perfection!

      • Sarah

I see your vision. But, would you want to look at that bubbe’s groin?!?

  • RescueMe23

    Look #13 – sorry – but all I can see is a uterus. I know…ewww. I like the rest of them though…

  • Capt. Renault

    He’s still got it.

  • rhône

everything about this collection blows me away. my favorite from haute couture week.

  • Zeee

    The chains! So cool.

  • Herr Meier

creative genius. compare to awkward sadness which is dior now. whoever that guy is

  • Jessie Melcher Brown

Please no harem pants – I hated them they last time they were in fashion.

  • Imasewsure

There are a few things in here that I reject (including all of the furs) but WOW… beautiful and fierce overall.

  • http://phantomminuet.blogspot.com/ MinAgain

It’s quite dramatic and ornate, but I can’t say that much of it is to my taste. Still,JPG always interesting.

  • Michele Morningstar

It’s the styling with the masks that I can’t get my head around.

  • FibonacciSequins

Now that’s a fall collection! Good mix of luxury, beauty and fantasy. Lots of pieces I wish I could afford. Home run for Gaultier.

  • Jacqueline Wessel

Very dramatic, but not too crazy. I like.

  • Lexie

If I was a secret billionaire vampire, this would be my wardrobe. LOVE the outerwear.

    • TinyDynamo

This is the best comment ever.

    • demidaemon

Now I want to be a secret billionaire vampire.

  • Moocows

I want that black and silver pinstripe suit!

  • Hoffa_w_HerHead

What Lady Gaga should be wearing.

  • Julie Chase

There is some gorgeousness hidden in all the batshit. I like it. I want to see half of these in a sci-fi movie.

  • moxie_lady

YASSS! This is couture. Couture and CONCHITA!

  • frannyprof

    Bringing the DRAMA!!! Love it!

  • decormaven

Can someone please identify the Asian model with the black and white gown? Kudos to her – she is selling that look like hotcakes. Love the drama of all this- particularly the cape/coat in Look #1.

  • Lower L

I love look #2 and want to see Tilda Swinton in it NOW.

  • Kent Roby

Oh, YES!!! I will now obsess over having a jacket out of that black-to-houndstooth.

    • Thomas

If only Zara or H&M would make a knock off for men. That’s the only way I could afford it.

      • Kent Roby

If I could find a similar fabric, I’d make a jacket in a heartbeat.

  • Anique Ashraf

Beautiful and dramatic and innovative in it’s own way. That bathing suit cover-up is original and gorgeous. And Conchita looks like a dark genderfuck vampire bride. SO beautiful.

    • Kent Roby

“Dark Genderfuck Vampire Bride” will be the name of my second band (I’m still committed to “Tassle-Tickled Lady Garden” for the first one).

      • Shawn EH

        Bride of Frankenstein Chic.

  • EveEve

100th anniversary of Erte’s collaboration with Poiret. Coincidence? I hope not.

  • Denise Rambo

I was almost afraid to look given how “out there” Gaultier can be but some of these pieces are stunning!

  • jilly_d

Please let’s get JLaw in the sequined hombre number for the Catching Fire poledance. And for Fucks Sake if Kristen Stewart doesn’t wear that sheer cape over some sort of mini dress…something has gone horribly wrong. (But probably RiRi will get to it first and wear even less under it than the model.)

  • suzq

Gorgeous, sculptural. I would love to see capes make a comeback. The tailoring and fabrics are exquisite.

  • Darva Sutra

    FIERCE. Perfectament, Msr. Gaultier!

  • NMMagpie

Stella McCartney WISHES she could manipulate fabric like this.

  • Mrs. Julien

My heart is going pitter pat.

  • bitchybitchybitchy

I’m just loving a lot of these looks, and happy to see Conchita walking the catwalk!

  • Tanya Wade

He’s still got it. That red draped top – swoon. I see DITA in all of this.

  • bayusc

    Well hello, coat porn!

  • Innuendo

Very dramatic! This is what I think of when I think of couture. Can I have the grey lace hoodie?

  • http://www.bethposts.blogspot.com/ Buffy

    J-PG never disappoints.

  • hellkell

Wow, someone’s been studying his Erte.

I love JPG’s stuff, I don’t care how batshit it is.

  • crash1212

Since I pretty much love every other piece in this collection, I’m willing to over look the sheer chain skirt. This is beautiful and looks exceedingly expensive and luxe and gorgeous. Nicely done.

  • smayer

Gorgeous! One outfit does scream Leeloo Couture, though.

  • Lily

So much Fifth Element. Can’t say I like the aesthetic, but workmanship is remarkable.

  • Tlazolteotl

In some alternate universe, I am wearing that one shoulder bared ombre sequined number. Except it’s a jumpsuit so that I can channel my inner Ziggy Stardust fabulousness.

  • SewingSiren

You know what you’re getting with him. His clients will not be disappointed.

  • http://www.chifleschips.com Stefanie Argudo Mackenzie

Oh, love, love, love. Thank you JPG for not abandoning fabulousness…

  • imustacheyouaquestion

No. 23 needs to go to JLaw for the Mockingjay poledance!

  • demidaemon

I pretty much adore this collection. It hits that perfect place of interesting and cool without heading into WTF land. Well done!

I also love the styling, which accentuates the looks without distracting from them. And the models are working it like the rent is due, which is what I want to see in a fashion show.

  • Lex

Now THAT is some wicked bad ass-ery. This collection puts many other designers to shame… so creative and dramatic!

  • somebody blonde

LOVE THAT HOUNDSTOOTH SUIT. Holy shit I want that. The rest of the collection is good, but not my aesthetic.

    • Shawn EH

Who knew you could ombray houndstooth?

  • Amykl

There’s a turtle on the first coat.

  • bunnydiet

Maybe because I have seen such horrendous collections all week this actually looks good to me.

  • understateddiva

I actually squealed at the chartreuse suit!

  • GemFemme

    GemFemme

Ah Jean Paul, you magnificent cheeky little monkey, you never disappoint me. What a stunning collection. My jaw literally dropped at the 4th dress from the bottom. It’s like something the Sun would wear if she was a fabulous, fierce little bitch.

Face-wise the 2nd model from the top is giving some great Nurse Diesel realness.

  • PastryGoddess

    FABOOSH!

Super-villaness chic AKA What to wear when kicking puppies/clubbing baby seals/casting curses on innocent children.

  • Yoshio

Mercy! This is fine work which fires the imagination.

  • quiltrx

Good heavens, do I love JPG!!! He consistently brings the fierce in construction, colors, fabrics…everything. Love the variety of the models (ooh, Conchita! and who’s the gorgeous silver-haired lady?).
But you know what I love most? That every look seems to have a STORY. You want to know about each lady–who she is, where she’s been…maybe even who she killed!
(and please say I’m not the only one who blurted “LeeLoo Dallas Multipass!” at the one above Conchita…)

  • http://www.ellenciompi.com/ NurseEllen

Rihanna? Over here, miss. Take your pick.

  • Sophie

There’s a lot I really like, mostly towards the beginning, and a lot that makes me think of SF movies (someone before spoke of Lilu in the 5th Element). I’d like that first coat to myself.

  • http://kittysdrawings.com Esz

    Vampire Chic.

  • GinaGeo

There are some fantastic superhero villain inspirations in these looks.

  • throwslikeagirl

They look like replicants, but the stuff’s gorgeous.

  • http://www.bertkeeter.com Bert Keeter

    COUTURE for the super fabulous!

  • ankali

That gold-chain sheer skirt blows me away. A huge big WOW to this collection.

I think Gaultier and Valentino have been my very favorite Fall collections for the past 3 years. Such good stuff going on in both houses.

  • Corsetmaker

Love! Bit lacking in corsets for me… I can usually rely on JPG for a few. But a beautiful collection.

  • Aurumgirl

That is how you do leather and fur.

  • Dreamwr8tr

1980s’ scifi steampunk. If the star can carry it off, it looks amazing.

  • Danielle

Grading it on the Gaultier curve, I’m in love with 99.9% of all of it. Extremely well constructed.

  • KinoEye

This is giving me so much LIFE I cannot stand it. I thought my brain would explode with that incredible, sheer skirt with the gold chain links, and then I saw Conchita. DEAD.

  • boweryboy

Oh, Jean-Paul don’t ever change, He and I have been conducting an imaginary love affair since the ’90s so I’m biased.

  • kategs

Some seriously gorgeous stuff here! And of course some silliness.

  • Jennifer Schiller

Die ruching die. Otherwise it has some ok elements, nothing I really love and some that to me look cheap.

The gold chain necklace dress is striking, even if I think it’s an interesting choice to put it on the only MOC. Overall it seems so completely stock 80s I can’t seem to look past that.

  • TerryMarie

I’m very happy to see that red is making a big comeback this fall. It’s been a long time, which is why there is now more purple than red in my wardrobe. The colors, at least, usually trickle down to the kinds of clothes I can wear.

  • Ashleigh

The man is a genius. This makes me want to look at his last collection. It makes me want more.

  • Annistella

    *Ahem* Stella McCartney take note.

  • KT

Craymazing. I can no longer tell if Madonna is inspired by Jean Paul Gaultier or if he’s inspired by her — probably a mix. Regardless, I hope she (as well as other celebs) try out some of this fierce ass shit.

  • Vainte

A collection designed for Maleficent, and quite on point. What I’d really like to see Is Elle Fanning in some of these.

  • evave2

I have come back to look at this collection numerous times, I described the fact that this is actual ART and it was a pleasure to look at. I feel obsessed.
Thank you, JPG, you gave me something so beautiful to enjoy.

  • Mary Stone

An entire collection of DRAG! it’s awesome! I hope to see some RPDR alums rocking these. Milk, photo number 24 from the top is calling your name…
