The dress colour does amazing things to her eyes.

      • Imasewsure

I was thinking how great she face and hair looked here (and ignoring the dress). Now I see something positive about the dress as well… the color is great on her…. :)

        • Sophie

I just focused on the colour and decided to ignore the rest, like you did.

    • http://batman-news.com Mooky1230

      Lumpy and dumpy

      • mixedupfiles

Thing is, that is clearly a great body. And yet, the dress is making her look lumpy and dumpy.

        • demidaemon

It doesn’t help that the dress is clearly too tight.

    • http://Reneesance.etsy.com Reneesance

Ouch, that pulls in all the wrong places. Pack it up girl it is not your dress.

      • http://attiresmind.blogspot.com/ Kiltdntiltd

I am praying that the way this dress is pulling is exclusively due to the horrendous fit, and not to sloppy workroom action.

        • Pablo Ulloa

hoping the same, but with Zac is always a rollercoaster. Sometimes his dresses are AMAZING (Met Gala) and sometime they’re like this one… for me the problem here is the fabric, cause even with the right fit it would look weird and cheap :/
          PS: sorry about my english

          • Patrick Cleary

Your English is terrific! Better than any of the other languages I know (which is about 5 words of French).

            • Pablo Ulloa

              stop it, you! :$

    • RescueMe23

      Way too tight!

    • Jeremiah Capacillo

PTA mom chaperone at the middle school dance.

    • http://dentsdelait.tumblr.com/ Nancy Marion

      I don’t think that’s anybody’s dress!

    • Erica Woods Tucker

      Not feeling it!

    • MoHub

Not in the least flattering, and she may also need better underpinnings. Furthermore, she evidently does not own a hairbrush

And I love that she closed the clutch with the lining sticking out!

      • decormaven

This is not her dress, not by a long shot. I’m not into matchy, but the difference between lipstick and mani colors bugs.

      • SugarSnap108

With the lining sticking out it looks like my tissue -thingy. (I’m very fancy.)

      • Rhonda Shore

That’s the kind of detail that drives me nuts (the lining sticking out)…

      • Moocows

Ive got her hip shape, we dont look as good in tight mermaidey dresses as we do in A-line skirts! Every time i wear a certain silhouette like this dress, i have to smooth the dips in my hips with tight spanx :).

    • Sarah

If it was knee length, a size up, and some spanx were involved, I might be okay with this. As it is, it’s kind of a mess.

    • Jennifer Bober

That fabric was not meant for that dress. Way too unforgiving!

      • Shawn EH

Needed a Donna Karan touch, not a Posenation.

    • Kent Roby

Zak Zak is doing Christina Christina no favors with this dress.

    • Jessica Freeman

Entirely too many seams for one dress. Complete shittery.

    • Freynika

Puckery and overworked. Sounds like another Zac Posen to me!

      • http://armchairauthor.wordpress.com/ LesYeuxHiboux

I read this as “Sounds like Zac Posen to me” and laughed out loud imagining his pursed lips and general fussiness.

        • demidaemon

Fussy is the word I always attach to anything Zac Posen, both as a person and in design.

      • Introspective

        or rather fuckery and overworked…

      • http://www.bertkeeter.com Bert Keeter

        “Johnny One Note”?

    • http://www.bertkeeter.com Bert Keeter

She’s gorgeous! Very sad that that dress is such a mess on such a beauty….

      • evave2

Bert I always read your comments and think you have real professional things to say. I like the actress, I think she is pretty. HOW can anybody make a dress to give a lady a belly pouch? Also, doesn’t it look heavy?

        • http://www.bertkeeter.com Bert Keeter

Thanks for your kind words… I just don’t get it either. It is sort of like the food chain… at some point, if not Posen, then the rep. the stylist, personal handler / agent , friend or SOMEBODY… if not the person who’s wearing it needs to realize this is not a good look!

    • Fanny_Trollope

I feel for you, honey. Lumps and bumps and too-tight dresses happen. Your job is to say no to them and find something that flatters your cute figure. Also, fix your clutch. I can live with everything else.

    • Glam Dixie

GTNYD, actually not sure that is anyone’s dress. Bleh

    • SugarSnap108

Is it the fit, or is that fabric just not fit for human use? Either way, it’s just not working on her.

      • kimmeister

Of course it’s fit for human use. Humans could make lovely table runners out of it!

      • MilaXX

it looks like curtain or couch fabric.

    • http://armchairauthor.wordpress.com/ LesYeuxHiboux

I love Christina, but a dress like this needs to be impeccably fitted to work. All those seems, the close fit, and the metallic. Her face look great, hair is a little drab. It seems odd to wear a dress you cannot possibly dance in to a celebration of dance gala.

      • Carleenml

I think it was the right idea that failed in execution. A great fit would’ve done it for me.

    • FrigidDiva

That looks like curtain fabric. It’s going to be over 100 today with the heat index and this dress is giving me heatstroke just looking at it. Also, I know it’s summer and the whole beachy-waves, casual hairstyle is the thing, but it’s very rare that it doesn’t end up looking like a complete mess.

    • traceyishere

That fabric is pulling in weird directions

    • evave2

Everything looked mostly ok (well, it did give her a pouchy tummy and I don’t think the actress has a pouchy tummy; it looked like Spanx would’ve taken care of the pouchy tummy therefore the dress gave her the pouchy tummy) until I got to the bottom.

Everytime I see a Zach Posen dress there is ONE thing wrong. I think the knees down is wrong.

It’s like Marquesa always has one or two embellishments too many BUT it is in the service of making the wearer feel like a princess. Posen’s one or two embellishments too many never serve the wearer IMO. They just draw too much attention to themselves.

      • demidaemon

Excellent analysis of two overly ambitious designers.

    • Danielle

Seriously, what did a woman ever do to Zac Posen to cause him to create such horrible clothing?

      • demidaemon

I feel like this is a very Freudian question.

    • hughman

Oh joy, a dress with VPLs sewn right into it.

    • Anapestic

I am choosing to ignore the horrible dress and focus instead on the bit of handkerchief poking out of the side of her clutch.

Also, I don’t know exactly why, but there’s something very Stiffler’s Mom about the overall effect.

    • @Biting Panda

“Looks like two pigs, fighting under a blanket.”

      • Sarah

Heh. Always excellent imagery with that phrase.

    • Lisalady161

Lovely fabric color, lovely head, cheap fabric poorly sewn.

    • KateShouldBeWorking

Dressmaker/tailor/informed people: is this the right fabric for this garment?

    • enchanted216

I adore her, and it is a pretty color, but it does not fit correctly. :(
P.S. You are working awfully hard for two people on vacation!!!

      • formerlyAnon

Have to agree on the vacation/work balance remark!

    • suzq

Ugh. Cheap fabric. Too tight. Bad color. Send SPANX!

    • Gatto Nero

      She’s been Posened.

    • Mothra

Do you think that’s an extra pair of undies or something peaking out of her boxy little bag (not a pervy euphemism)

      • Gatto Nero

It might be the satin lining of the bag peeking out.
But I like the extra undies theory.

    • http://foodycat.blogspot.co.uk/ Alicia

That many seams means many opportunities for bumpy bits. Zac seems to have taken advantage of all of those opportunities.

      • Gatto Nero

It’s his gift for overwrought construction. The man excels at it.

        • Shawn EH

It’s at his worst when he tries to do something casual; the fit is way too fussy for the fabric.

    • SewingSiren

      Needs a foundation.

    • homespunner

The dress is puckered but her face is not. Her face looks entirely too unpuckery.

    • MilaXX

The whole look feel sloppily put together. The dress look cheaply made and poorly fitted. The bag liner sticking out just tips it over the edge. I like her but this look is bad.

    • PastryGoddess

that fabric needs to be balled up and tossed into a volcano never to be seen again.

    • frannyprof

I wanna love this, but I can’t. Horrible fit.

    • Mink Carlyle

I’m feeling sad that I cannot see the Jimmy Choos she supposedly has on her feet; I’d wager they are the best part of this ensemble.

    • crash1212

Serious fit issues here, and I’m not convinced this thing would look all that great even if it did fit properly. Lord, when even the lining of your clutch is working against you, it’s time to go home and start over. Her head looks good though.

    • formerlyAnon

No. Not properly fitted to her.

    • amf0001

she is more interesting than that dress

    • marlie

The concept is fine enough, though it’s a bit mother-of-the-bride, but they failed in the execution. As is typical with Zac Posen designs, there’s way too much puckering and pulling, and on a fabric that’s shiny like this, it’s super noticeable.

    • random_poster

Chop off the skirt around the knees, and you immediately improve the look by 50% (and only 50%…there is just too much pulling going on everywhere else).

    • Monabel

      Does nothing for her.

    • BLauDGaspode

Ohhhh, that fit is terrible. A real shame, because it makes her look awful. Plus, the fabric looks so heavy, and there’s so much of it. No. Go home and pick up something new.

    • Dagney

      when bad clothes happen…

    • YourBaloneyDontGotNoSecondName

Just around knee length and 1/2 size larger would be so much better.

    • sk8tfan

OMG. I’m depressed now. If they can make a naturally beautiful woman look that bad, there’s no hope for mere mortals like myself.

    • JAPPDX

Ugly dress can’t obscure her beauty. Send Posen to Project Runway school.

    • http://www.readbarbara.com/ ReadBarbara

Wow, she’s working the hell out of it, but I think even she realizes that is one tacky-ass dress that you’d expect to find on the clearance rack at Forever 21. Good on ya, Christina, for wearing it anyway.

    • KT

Total scrolldown fug. Her head looks great, that material is… less great, but it would be serviceable if it was just a top and not a gown. As a gown, this looks totally cheap and poorly made. As a top, it could be paired with a more flattering and interesting pencil skirt, or could even be made into a peplum and paired with skinny jeans (though that would probably be too casual for this event).

    • alyce1213

Hideous fabric, overworked design, terrible fit. This may be the worst I’ve seen her, and it’s hard to make her look bad.

    • demidaemon

As a Posen dress goes, it’s not terrible, though it still seems too fussy and too tight on her. Also, the mismatched fabric is making my eye cross a little.

    • FibonacciSequins

It seems too big and too tight at the same time. We’d better not hear Zac complaining about “overworked design” on Project Runway. This is a prime example.

      • Annistella

I just ‘got’ your name and I love it. When maths and fashion combine!

    • Man Dala

      This dress looks really cheap.

    • Trickytrisha

Definitely a WTF dress. All those puckered seams and the fugly fabric… depressing.

    • quiltrx

She looks so pretty! The seaming (is it because it’s topstitched?) looks so heavy and lumpy…maybe the wrong techniques for what appears to be an odd fabric.

    • e jerry powell

I want to see what Cat Deeley wore now.

    • http://frankbettecenter.org/ sleah_in_norcal

why bother with th earrings? we’ll never see them. also, not zac’s finest moment.

    • JynxTheCat

Posen would pitch a BITCH hissy if seams like that came down the PR runway. Pucker much??

    • ktr33

ugly dress, cheap-looking fabric, bad fit, unflattering. And inappropriately beachy hair. Make-up ok.

    • guyfromhoboken

She is gorgeous, but is dressed like a bridesmaid at an Italian wedding in Staten Island
