Garbage bag couture. At the beginning I was thinking it was more tasteful than usual for Versace, but as I scrolled down, it only got worse and worse.

    • d4divine

That is exactly what I thought!

    • conniemd

Yeah, I liked some of the first pieces and the edginess without being over the top – and no sheer! But a a scrolled down the dresses got more and more ridiculous.

  • RussellH88

I love it and it’s honestly not out there I was expected. But it’s just a lot of really cool and interesting pieces.

All the straps make me think of Lulu from Final Fantasy X.

    • Daenyx

I agree – I’m kind of hating the fur but overall it’s a hell of a lot more tasteful than the last several Versace collections, and with the right styling, a lot of these would be awesome.

The open-toed boots need to burn, though. HATE those.

    • FuhUgh

YES! This is exactly the collection for a high fashion super-heroine! “Couture She-Woman!” However, does she really need a pair of black trousers that are laid open at the hip?

    • demidaemon

Huh. Now that you mention it, this collection looks like it should be Lulu’s wardrobe. However, I will say that that also makes it unwearable by 99.9 % of the population. I would also worry for her breasts in many of these.

  • Noah

    #OfCourse

  • schadenfreudelicious

Ms Lopez your collection is ready….

    • gabbilevy

The runway collection doesn’t have the white version of the dress she was wearing … she must have clawed it off the model’s back before the poor dear could even do her job.

      • Kent Roby

Though JLo looks capable of clawing a bitch, the boring truth is that her stylist probably called Donatella and told her to get her something from the upcoming show in white.

        • Shawn EH

To be fair, you’re both describing exactly the same thing.

      • Boulderista

Too bad Ms. Lopez didn’t visit the make-up artists also

      • demidaemon

True. But a palette swapped version is there, and I would assume that they wouldn’t want to show the same look in different fabrics.

    • Kent Roby

I’m shocked that JLo chose one of the most conservative looks from this collection, but it’s just a matter of time before she wears the fringed number (after shortening it and removing the sleeves).

  • Kent Roby

Asymmetry, buckles, and fringe; oh my!

  • http://www.dinnerisserved1972.com DinnerIsServed1972

    Frankendresses. And half-pants. HALF-PANTS!

    • Leah Elzinga

if it’s only half of pants, does that make it just “pant”. Cause that’s unfortunate.

      • Clash D

        A pant.

        Panta.

    • Imasewsure

It’s a sorry time when we have to accept yet another new non-sensical trend… the half-pant…. great…

    • holla

it’s like a jump suit trying not to be a jump suit

    • kimmeister

The white one ~7 from the bottom is particularly heinous because it even has the vertical ironing crease on the pant-side. BLEGH!

  • http://attiresmind.blogspot.com/ Kiltdntiltd

Sighing. Just because you can is not reason enough to throw every design trick in your box at the runway. The jackets at the beginning have an intriguing new shape, But Ms Donatella just can’t leave them alone to sing by themselves. Tricks MUST be played. The color palette is great, and some of the other ideas are good. But as I said, it all gets way to tricked out.

    • Gatto Nero

I agree. I thought the sculpted jackets at the beginning were promising. The tailored pieces are better than all the confused draping. But she doesn’t know when to stop.

    • Kent Roby

The first purple gown is a great example of missing the mark by doing too many tricks. The black/purple ombre of the (sequined?) top is so pretty on its own, then there’s the draping of the skirt with pocket, exposed leg, and leather fringe, the peep-toe boots, and the buckles, AND one of the sleeves is lopped off as well. Add the sleeve back, remove the fringe, and wear pumps and this look would be stunning.

      • http://attiresmind.blogspot.com/ Kiltdntiltd

I couldn’t agree more. Everywhere you look in this collection are great ideas that turn instantly sour because of the inane heavy handedness in play. Edit, edit, edit. So much of this could ahve been amazing looking. Instead its stuff from a third rate Sci Fi pic.

        • demidaemon

Well, this is what happens when your design assistant is Dr. Frankenstein.

          • bitchybitchybitchy

Igor was on sabbatical, I suspect

          • demidaemon

I am laughing so hard at this comment and I really don’t know why.

          • bitchybitchybitchy

Providing quality snark and laughs is one of my core missions

        • bitchybitchybitchy

You could give this collection to design students with the assignment to examine every look and then edit them. There’s got to be a senior project just dissecting these looks, picking the best design elements and redesigning the collection.

          • http://attiresmind.blogspot.com/ Kiltdntiltd

I think this is actually a wonderful idea for fashion design students. Select a known collection and ask the students to edit and reconfigure the collection. It could be a major help to them about learning the process, and learning how to edit well.

          • bitchybitchybitchy

I agree-they could learn so much, and also learn that a major designer/design house can be critiqued.

          • demidaemon

It is a really wonderful idea.

    • Corsetmaker

Yes, I started off thinking… oh this is classy for Versace… but the feeling didn’t last. The first jackets were interesting, and there’s a lot I like. The colours, the use of kilt type buckles, the corsetted shapes contrasting with tailoring and so on… but she just doesn’t know when to stop!

      • MissusBee

Classy for Versace is my new favorite fake compliment.

  • barbarienne

Designing for the Grand Exalted Ruler of a space empire, I see.

(I like it as costume. I’d be interested to see the RTW versions.)

    • MoHub

      Pure sci-fi slutwear.

  • Frank_821

This clearly designed for divas only and I think several pieces have a fun fierceness to them. However that gown/pant-leg hybrid is just lame.

  • Anne Silberman

Some look like overwrought Project Runway designs.

  • curiouserandcuriousest

    Oh the titscrepancies here!

    • Leah Elzinga

no one wants just one “hair boob”. But then are two hair boobs better?

      • myandyleigh

I’d say it’s all relative. Hair boobs are bad in general, singly or in pairs, but they become infinitely worse if the hair grew on the boob naturally. Naturally hair-covered boobs are ever so much worse than removable hair boobs. So, if I have to have hair boob and/or boobs and I get to choose the hair rather than having it sprouting from my chest, then I’m going with the removable hair boob(s).

Let us all pray to our chosen deity that we never have to make a hair boob choice.

  • Janice Bartels

There is a lot of “what was she thinking” bait here- in that it is bold and eye catching, but would be terribly difficult to pull off.

  • Anna

“Lady Gaga leaves her apartment in New York City in…” *insert any outfit from this collection*

  • sienna elm

I love it! There’s a lot of interesting shapes and features here.

  • Leah Elzinga

there are so many almost… reserved, chic pieces in here, especially up top in the navies. But the minute you hit that first bit of fringe it’s all down hill.

  • Glam Dixie

That’s a whole lot of ‘For Models Only’ going on right there.

    • demidaemon

I’m not even sure if they can pull some of this stuff off.

      • Glam Dixie

        Truth

  • In_Stitches

It’s a mixed bag; there’s something there for everyone. I actually like the frankendresses most of all. When she’s only allowed to show half of a tacky dress, it’s impact is stronger (although when she sews 2 tacky dresses together and then buckles them up tight, the effects are far too much).

Favorite look? The frankenblazer revealing a bustier underneath, on top of pants.

  • PinkyK

Everything was either koo koo crazy or Blaaa. How does that happen!?!

  • http://foodycat.blogspot.co.uk/ Alicia

I like the corsety bits and the pleated bits, but generally the asymmetry hurts my eyes and most of the pieces have too much going on.

  • Nita

    Hated it.

Its like a poorly-made knock off of The Blonds.

  • boweryboy

You, yes you, can get half a dress, half a jacket, and half a pair of pants all in one outfit! But wait, there’s more. Order in the next fifteen minutes and we’ll throw in another halfsie outfit for free plus a Swarovski studded belt buckle. That’s two, two, halfsies plus the belt buckle. Act soon, supplies are limited.

    • Anna

Special offer with coupon code: Donatella_123, receive bonus purple fringed tarp. Easy to clean and all-weather resistant. Just pay separate shipping and handling.

    • KateShouldBeWorking

      Not limited enough.

  • stayl

TLo used to post their own brief comments about the collection plus the designer’s inspiration. I miss this.

  • http://phantomminuet.blogspot.com/ MinAgain

Was someone have a contest for most over-designed look of the season? Because that 15th look is a clear winner.

  • rebeemoon

Please. Do not let peep-toe boots become a thing.

    • MilaXX

Sadly they’ve been a thing for the past 2 or 3 seasons

    • Gatto Nero

      It’s a played-out trend at this point.

  • Zeee

I blame effing Angelina Jolie’s stupid protruding leg for this collection.

  • Alyssa

I canNOT with the pant legs in the dresses and the half-pants. And fringe. Some interesting stuff, but way too much going on for the most part.

  • doodley

There are times I wonder how the models manage to keep straight faces as they walk the runway. This is one of those times.

  • Shawn EH

Love the styling, the fuzzy coats, the greek key sweaters, and STELLA! Serving it hardcore, girl!

    • Carol

I thought the hoop earring they made Stella Tennant wear were actually possibly the worst thing about this collection – although there is a lot of competition on that front

      • Shawn EH

It’s clear that she doesn’t need them nearly as much as they need her, but she’s working her buns off for them!

  • Tami from Seattle

    Tacky and boring.

  • KateShouldBeWorking

Props to the majority of the models: it takes a pro to sell paper-shredder accidents like these.

    • bitchybitchybitchy

      Indeed-amateurs need not apply

  • Danielle

They should shock everyone by sending down a model who is fully covered.

  • decormaven

The buckle strap motif is played out.

  • MarissaLG

I don’t usually like Versace. /end of comment

  • KateShouldBeWorking

Versace: Expensive clothes for when you want to look cheap.

    • Shawn EH

      It’s always been so.

    • demidaemon

      Pretty much their motto.

  • Cathy Smither

What the well-dressed lady robot will be wearing this season.

  • Imasewsure

I don’t hate any of this (the mens wear collections this season have lowered my standards) but I only really like the white pant suit and the blue flowy gown in the middle but I’m ignoring the one-leg thing underneath because I can’t tell what it is… stilll the over-gown is gorgeous.

    • demidaemon

It really does make you feel sad when you can say “It could have been worse” and have the exact visual representation IN THE REAL WORLD of said statement.

  • NMMagpie

One note, mostly. Some nice detailing but kinda underwhelming, too.

  • lecoffeeaddict

The purple gown would make a badass Disney villain/dragon hybrid costume.

    • bitchybitchybitchy

      Mauvina, Empress of the twilight

  • Imasewsure

I’m thinking we are going to see a lot of the darker stuff here on Ms Pinkett-Smith… although KStew might get there first if either of them are pole-dancing this year. Otherwise all JLo, all the time…

  • lilibetp

Looks like someone got a good deal on some buckles…

  • eandh99

well, I really like the gloves? and those first two jackets are lovely.

  • MilaXX

I was looking at this thinking JLo will live this. Then I got o the 4th gown and went , “Oh!”

  • AndieJay

They are fine, some of them are interesting. But I fear all the women who can wear these clothes have already worn them to walk this show.

  • save_the_hobbit

    So much expensive ugly, wow.

  • Ashleigh

Are they all DELIBERATELY designed for Angelina Jolie? Why not, I suppose!

  • Jacqueline Wessel

Looks like JLo picked out one of the better pieces.

  • titaness25

They’re taking The Angelina to the next level, I see.

  • http://journal.translarte.de/ Muyserin

    Hookers of the Future.

  • VioletFem

The Atelier line is usually better than this.

  • StrandedFashionista

    Fetish Dior. That’s all.

  • Gloriana Reginata

There are a surprising number of these that I covet, given that the total I could actually wear is zero.

  • Heather

I really like the Blade Runner aesthetic in the first half of the collection. It gets a little… much after that.

  • marlie

Some of these pieces are nice – even beautiful – but a lot of it is CRAY.

  • Synnae

So pretty much everything that is not an evening dress is fairly wearable, at times even pretty or interesting. Considering that I am looking at a Versace collection this does not seem right…

  • KT

    FIERCECAPADES

  • OffToSeeHim

Wow, JLo was pretty quick to snag a piece of this!

  • crash1212

Those first few looks are stunning. I love the corsetry work.

  • lorepottter

    That leg mess

  • Sarah Winningham

    A salute to titscrepancy.

  • PastryGoddess

    ticky tackalicious

  • smayper

Deep purple and navy are some of my favorite colors for evening dresses…that’s the only nice thing I can say.

  • http://viridianpostcard.blogspot.com/ viridian61

I wonder what some of these looked like in motion. Better than the stills?

  • demidaemon

It’s really well made, upscale, and certainly not boring. So there is that. However, it looks like Donatella gave her sketches to Dr. Frankenstein before sending them into production. Too much mix and match design, and many of the looks drive right into Hookerland. So, I think overall, this is a no.

  • understateddiva

Many will try to wear these…only a few will succeed.

  • lulukittie

Looks like “sexy cyborg” was the inspiration here.

  • BlairBear

Taste the tacky of the rainbow

  • quiltrx

At least I don’t feel like I’ve seen it all before. On the other hand, some of this is seriously cray-cray and I don’t think they’re going to make the one-leg thing ‘happen’.
I like the structured jackets near the beginning. And I think my favorite piece is the long black gown that looks like a black bustier with a geometric gold belt and the full skirt. Very super-heroine formalwear.

  • Clash D

    Suede open-toe boots.

    Suede. Open. Toe. BOOTS.

  • Fräulein K.

God help me, I really like this. Even the gown/trouser hybrids.

  • queen b*tch

    One. Legged. Trousers.
