Oh I wish that were a skirt. I’d love it as a maxi skirt. But as pants, it just screams Zubaz.

    • Jacob Bowen

Sadly I just bought my dad another pair of Zubaz…he LOVES them but is NOT allowed out of the house in them.

    • livesarah

I would still wear it… I’m way too much of a sucker for nice prints.

  • sugarkane105

I had so much hope when I saw that bright, beautiful blue in the thumbnail. The pants portion, bag AND shoes could not be more wrong.

This would have been so cute in a pencil skirt.

  • rosie5215

I think I would have liked this a lot better as a skirt. As pants, they veer into “jazzy Grandma” territory.

    • frannyprof

“Jazzy Grandma” is a demographic to which I aspire to belong!

      • smayper

        me too!!

      • http://armchairauthor.wordpress.com/ LesYeuxHiboux

I want to be one who dresses something like Johnny Depp, who has lots of crystals and will sit you down for herbal tea and a tarot reading when you visit.

      • livesarah

There was a well-groomed, grey-haired 70-something lady in my old neighbourhood who used to get about in leather pants ( 10 years ago, before they were a Thing). I nicknamed her Leather Gran. I still aspire to be her someday!

      • evave2

Hey, I am a jazzy gramma, so yes to skirt, no to wide-leg pants. NOnono. I like the top, and otherwise she looks cute. But no to wide-leg pants. Carolina looks so different when she’s dressing Lucy Liu (I could NEVER see Lucy Liu in these pants.)

    • holla

she also needs a box jacket from chico’s to complete the look, because the ac can give her a chill

      • http://TheDoseofReality.com/ The Dose of Reality

This is totally how my grandma would wear this outfit. She’d need something to cover her shoulders, but otherwise she’d be good to go with this!

  • Sarah

I have a love for Party Pants, but I don’t like her shoes or bag with these.

    • Thomas

She needs a wicker/straw bag and matching sandals to complete the look.

  • Thomas

She looks like she’s on her way to Acapulco.

  • Grumpy Girl

I think the pants are kind of snazzy, but her girls need some more support, she needs some dynamic jewelry, and color on her nails and lips. And the bag . . . needs to be replaced by something either straw-like and beachy, or structured and one-colored, preferrably in a coral tone.

    • http://www.ellenciompi.com/ NurseEllen

You nailed it. The “Today” show is on at some godforsaken hour of the morning, is it not? Maybe she was so tired she just grabbed the first bag on the table by the front door. That’s what I’d like to believe, anyway. After some coffee she’ll wake up and say, “What was I thinking?”

    • livesarah

So sue me, but I feel that the no bra look lends a nice 70s vibe :-D

  • Jennifer Bober

I actually kind of love those pants. They’re wild, but those colors will read really well on camera. That bag, however. Yuck!

    • http://angrynerdgirl.net/ Jessi03

      That bag is an abomination.

      • Jennifer Bober

        Agreed!

    • http://phantomminuet.blogspot.com/ MinAgain

I coudn’t agree more. That bag is dreadful.

  • colleenjanel

I hate the shoes and bag. I don’t hate the outfit so much, but I DEFINITELY wouldn’t wear something like that on TV. I hope she had something simpler to change into.

  • Janet B

A summery wedge would have been better.

  • Lex

Clown pants will never do. As for the shoes and bag– what was she thinking?!

  • frannyprof

Love. I would have gone with a different shoe, though.

  • hughman

The first photo is kind of rocking my world. With that disparate collection of bystanders, it reminds me of a David LaChapelle pic.

  • Danielle

Those are some toned arms, miss lady.

    • Grumpy Girl

And the bag looks like she truly uses it (ie, it looks heavy).

  • Lilah

I like the idea of this, but the pants are just hideous. Maybe the pattern were different.

    • kimmeister

Both the pattern and the color combination are hideous to my eyes.

  • mjude

these pants are going to start showing up every where aren’t they?

  • http://heartprintandstyle.com/ Vivi N

No to the bag and the shoes. Otherwise, cute outfit. Love the print of the palazzo pants.

  • marlie

Those pants are awful. Maybe as a skirt they wouldn’t be as bad. but as-is, I hate them. And that bag doesn’t work with anything else in the look.

    • Capt. Renault

A skirt would be OK, but as it is there is Way Too Much Of This Busy Busy Thing.

  • decormaven

That bag goes with absolutely nothing else in the ensemble. Print on the pants reminds me of artwork from the old “Night Tracks” show.

    • http://angrynerdgirl.net/ Jessi03

That bag goes with nothing else on the planet.

  • Jessica Freeman

I really love how this should look, but on her, the fit is so wrong. Shoes and bag make no sense.

  • Steve Ek

I think those pants were made from the quiana shirts my my mom’s tacky nouveau riche cousin used to wear back in the 70′s. I can smell the Crowne Royal and black market Cuban cigars wafting off of them through the photo.

    • http://phantomminuet.blogspot.com/ MinAgain

I like the pants, but your imagery amused me.

  • PinkyK

That top (or perhaps that bra) is making her boobs look weird…. That’s all I see!

    • PinkyK

I meant to also say that the whole thing looks like, “I’ve got Miami Dolphin box seats!” Total fins colors!

  • mmebam

I’ll tell you right now: I am here for the pants! But the bag and shoes are wrong.

  • MilaXX

Don’t like the bag or the shoe. The outfit is cute.

  • Bad Idea Jeans

    THOSE GIGANTA PANTS MUST DIE.
For perspective, I had an unsolicited facebook ad pop up in my news feed yesterday for patterned palazzo pants, all of which looked just like this, and all of which would only be appropriate in a production of “The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert”.

  • ankali

I want to like this, but I just can’t. Those pants are so unflattering on her. Also, I like her better as a brunette.

  • AlexisPayne

    odd shoe choice, nice otherwise

  • Capt. Renault

But guys — it looks FANTASTIC when you have your 3D glasses on!

  • KES4K

Ugh, those shoes, WHYYYY. With the model’s orange sandals – or maybe even a silver-leaning pewter (NOT the color of that bag, which I am steadfastly ignoring), I could’ve gotten behind the outfit as a breezy summer chic. But with clunky platforms…no. Also, her surgeon talked her into (at least) one size too big, I think…

  • quiltrx

Loudly-printed pants are having a moment at my workplace…most of the ones there are really ill-fitting and the legs are skinny, though. I’m not sure where everyone is getting them.
I like that these are wide-legged, but I’m still not sure about the loudly-printed pants in general.

  • Imasewsure

I really like this but it’s sort of casual for a tv appearance. I’m assuming that is her actual purse so I’m ignoring it as part of the outfit.

  • YourBaloneyDontGotNoSecondName

I love the colors here, and I LOVE that print, but I think it would have been much better as a skirt, and with different accessories. At any rate, this is a gal who is enjoying her summer.

  • BrianaJC

I like them as pants. I would shorten the hem and pair them with some beachy sandals, though. And lose that bag.

  • SewingSiren

If you’re going with the comfort of pajama pants , why the hell put on platform stilettos ?

  • http://foodycat.blogspot.co.uk/ Alicia

I’ve said it before, every time I see that there is a post about Ashley Greene, I think it is going to be Anna Kendrick and then I am terribly disappointed. These pants just add insult to injury.

    • Jacob Bowen

Ironically enough she replaced Anna Kendrick in the movie that she is pimping right now…Anna was the original choice.

  • BlairBear

I would love it without the bag. Yes the pants are crazy but for me they are also fabulous but I also love the 20′s beach pajamas and these remind me a bit of those

  • demidaemon

Hate this print as pants, as many others have stated. Just not right.

  • AlisonS

Maybe I’ve been watching too many episodes of “That 70s Show” but this is pure Midge Pinciotti (Donna’s Mom).

  • FibonacciSequins

I think the solid top/print bottom with a high waist was a good choice for her figure. I really like the colors and the print, too. She should have had someone else carry that bag for her.

  • boweryboy

Wow. That’s a lot of print.
    A.
    Lot.
    Of.
    Print.

Could work as a blouse, skirt or summer dress. Even capris. But not wide legged, high waisted mom pants. No.

    • conniemd

Yep, I said the same thing before I read your post.

  • http://armchairauthor.wordpress.com/ LesYeuxHiboux

I love her for trying this, but the crotch on those pants looks like it’s flirting with her knees. The bag is a flat-out WTF? Also, if you’re going to wear high-waisted pants you really have to break out your most supportive bra to avoid looking saggy.

  • conniemd

Wow, a Carolina Herrera I don’t like. Should have been a knee length skirt instead of those grossly voluminous pants.

  • what not

This isn’t my thing, but I commend her for wearing this “fall 2014″ combo in resort-y summer, where it belongs.

  • http://asskickingadviser.com/ Ass Kicking Adviser

No. So very eighties bed sheet. So very eighties colors. And not in a good way.

  • Jacob Bowen

I don’t think I would like that bag EVER, and those are NOT the correct shoes for that outfit.

  • Joycelyn Watterson-Woods

Ummmm…where are her boobs suppose to be versus where they are? I can’t get past it. Lady stars, don’t leave home to be photographed without hiking those things into position, please! It makes you look so much better.

  • Bozhi

That hair was a big mistake.

  • Kikishua

Never thought I’d say this but… those pants need to be a LOT wider.
