Would love to have seen this look with a belt. Also the hair needs a major rethink. All and all, though, I think it’s really fun cute – the naked shoes work here.

ETA: just noticed the hip ruffles. I might have to take back everything I just said.

    • Freynika

Agreed, the hair really ages her. It’s too much for her and makes her face look quite a bit older.

    • jm778426

Google is paying approx 80$ per>>CLICK FINENCIAL REPORT FOR MORE INFO

    • Lisalady161

I saw the thumbnail and thought, “What’s with the wig, Ariel?” It doesn’t even look like real hair and it does nothing for her. She’s so pixie-cute on MF. I remember trying to dress like a 20-something too but this isn’t it, sweetie.

    • Raspberry2012

Same here. The dress is wonderful and perfect for her, but the hair is way too dark.

    • livesarah

Everything else is pretty much perfect, but she needs different, shorter style for her hair.

  • spirit52

Love the. Dress, but I’m over peplums

    • jm778426

    • MaggieMae

I was excited because at first I thought she had a version of the dress without the peplum! I’ll console myself with the make believe idea that she is positioning her hands so as to hide it.

  • The hip ruffle doesn’t even make me angry! Bravo!

    • Chickadeep

I’m not hating this on her. I think it’s because she clearly likes the outfit and is projecting confidence.

    • I like how it looks like she’s willfully trying to flatten it.

  • sugarkane105

I see a Baby Kardashian, and I do not like it.

    • fursa_saida

    • Winterlight

Thank Gucci it’s not just me.

  • ChiKat67

She is 16…everything about this look reads 10 years older.

    • PinkyK

I agree. She looks MUCH older than 16. Maybe only wear this look for sneaking into a bar’

    • Watts

I’d say 30 years older, minimum.

      • demidaemon

  • colleenjanel

She’s SIXTEEN ladies and gentlemen! She looks twice her age. I’ll never understand why these young girls are in such a hurry.

Keirnan Shipka, honey … stay just the age-appropriate way you are!

    • marlie

OK, I assumed that she was 20-something. This is definitely a little aging. I really think it’s the hair.

      • colleenjanel

        And the posing.

        • Snailstsichr

The posing just about ruins it for me.

    • mixedupfiles

What did you want at that age? It’s in the nature of young people to want to be granted status, and she sees status in looking older. I hate to see young people criticized for what’s entirely natural.

    • Grumpy Girl

But it’s not the dress. The model looks teenagerish in it. I think we’re seeing more years because of the . . . shape of Ms. Winter? Sure a different dress might minimize the shelf some, but this one is discrete and colorful, and it’s likely hard for her to look dressed up and 16 at the same time.

      • uprightcitizen

Yeah. Expecting her to look like a teenager in the same way that Shipka does isn’t exactly fair. Ariel Winter has blossomed a lot earlier and in a completely different way than some teen stars. She’s never going to look like a little girl again, no matter what she wears. I would argue that putting her in more young girl looks would actually look inappropriate, like those photo shoots of grown women dressed as naughty schoolgirls. This is well-fitted and pretty. Not sure she needed the darker hair, but if you can’t do that stuff when you’re young, when can you?

        • colleenjanel

It is very possible for her (even in her blossomed state) to look (and act) her age, or at least relatively close to it.

        • fursa_saida

The hair and makeup is what’s doing it, to me. I barely recognized her. (To be fair, I think her face actually did change recently–it looks significantly more adult and less cherubic than I usually think of her as being–so that’s just the way it is. But I do think the hair in particular is adding a lot of years.)

      • colleenjanel

It’s not the dress, it’s not her build. It’s a combination of the ridiculous Kardashian hair and the ridiculous posing. She clearly WANTS to look 10+ years older.

      • Violentcello

Agreed. My baby sister has looked 18 ever since she was 14. Some people just look older than they are.

For the record, I think she looks great here, regardless of the age she’s projecting.

      • Raspberry2012

It’s the hair – to me, there’s nothing wrong with the dress at all. But that new haircolor makes her look 40!

  • Anna

I did not recognize her, hair and posing are giving off Kardashian. I love the dress and the print though.

  • Good colors for her but it’s too tight, and this would have been the perfect time to deploy the ubiquitous “loose updo”. Shoes are ok in white but I’m thinking the ankle strap is nit the most flattering for her.

  • Oof, those extensions.

  • KateMaryC

I understand her desire to step away from her television character, because she IS a beautiful girl. And in her defense, when I was 16, I also had some boxed hair dye disasters. Of course, I didn’t go on the red carpet.

  • Janet B

Fantastic look if she were 5-10 years older, except for the silly hair extensions.

  • Deac82

She’s watching too much Bravo. Step away from RHOBH.

    • Constant Reader

My first thought was: wow, that is some Real Housewives hair.

  • Sophie

Don’t like the nails and the peplum. I like the dress, but something is aging incredibly. But what is it?

    • Feral Fremen

I agree about the dress aging her somehow… I think it’s too tight across the chest and is giving her the dreaded “granny-bosom.”

    • somebody blonde

I think the color of the hair is also pretty aging.

      • demidaemon

I’m pretty sure the hair is 80%+ responsible for the aging effect here.

  • Kent Roby

Call her Angela Bassett, because she looks like she spent all night waiting to exhale.

  • Ava

She looks like Alex Vause without glasses

  • teensmom99

Other than the extensions she looks great . . . and she’s wearing just the kind of dresses that teens wear these days–though showing a lot less skin than a lot of teens do.

  • MW

Poor thing looks like she can’t breathe. A bra-fitting/going up a dress size might be in order.

  • Qitkat

I’m liking the way the print is placed on the model’s dress better, and the fit skimming the body rather than hugging it.

  • @Biting Panda

Ariel, you are an actual star. A working actress. A person of talent. You are better than 3rd Jenner Sister.

  • lilibetp

At least her hair isn’t parted in the middle. That said, Ariel, if you’re going to wear a peplum, put your hands down so we can see it.

  • SugarSnap108

I thought she was wearing stockings until I saw her toes. How does skin become that smooth and perfect? I must know.

    Also, peplums must die.

    • Kent Roby

It’s the blessing of her still being a teenager.

      • SugarSnap108

She’s still a teenager? I assumed 20s … But then, maybe that doesn’t count as “young” in Hollywood.

        • MilaXX

yeah, too lazy to google, but she should be 16/17 now

    • somebody blonde

      Airbrush makeup.

  • Capt. Renault

If she’s a Winter, why is she dressed like a Spring?

I make the obvious jokes so you don’t have to. It’s the service I provide.

  • S-k-s

The dress is age-appropriate … But something with the hair/makeup/posing turns it into a look that is not.

  • Jennifer Bober

I’m loving that dress. Fantastic colors. I could do without the vamp nails though.

    • Gatto Nero

      And the chipped pedi.

  • marlie

She looks cute, though rather generic. And I think the black hair is a tad too severe on her, but I don’t hate it. Also, an appropriate deployment of white naked shoes.

    • GillianHolroyd

Yup, cute but a generic 26 y.o. She can do soooo much better.

  • Nappysue

I think not only the extensions are aging but so is the color. She used to have brown hair, but this black isn’t flattering.

    • MilaXX

      Agreed. The brown was prettier.

  • cocohall

The Young Hollywood Awards – where teenage girls dress at least 10 years older than they are to alert the rest of Hollywood that they are READY to move on from the very roles that established their careers. If she, or any other starlet, came to this show dressed age-appropriately, they would look out of place (especially to their peers). And because they ARE still teens, that is what matters. This is advanced math. Given that, and given that this poor girl has had her share of family troubles (seriously whacky mom, lives with older sister) I think she looks great. She isn’t flashing any parts of her anatomy that are reserved for a trip to the gyno, the dress isn’t too tight, her makeup is clean and fresh. I just wish she’d worn her hair in a sassy high pony tail, but otherwise, good for her.

  • Alyssa

I love this dress. If it were me, I would have worn my yellow pumps with it. It would be a little matchy, but I think they would have looked really good here.

  • Mark Pompelia

Her bust looks like she’s ready to explode! Like an overstuffed club chair! Her curves (which I love) are fighting the pattern.

  • MilaXX

She looks so grown up without her glasses! Not loving the hair extensions, but overall cute look.

  • Glam Dixie

Cute dress, but boy howdy is that hair dragging this down. Lop off about 6-8 inches and lighten the color up just a bit to make it softer and I think it would improve this a ton. She looks really nice (if a bit older) otherwise.

  • MarieLD

Ariel, I really like you and think you’re a fine actress. Now, remember when your television sister Sarah Hyland made all those comments about how fake Lea Michele’s posing was on the red carpet? Listen to Sarah. Stop this now.

  • Jennifer Schiller

Am I the only one seeing young (current look) Laura Prepon with this hair and makeup? Cute dress, cute shoes, but man she looks 30-something here.

  • FibonacciSequins

I like the dress on her, but she needs to size up. Not loving the black hair and extensions, I’d rather see her use her natural beauty and look her age. But try telling a teenager that.

  • MightyMarshal

Talk about pigment overload. No on that hair. Whoever your hairdresser is, fire them and find someone who can lighten you up a bit. Also the stylist is a bit cheap all around.

  • BobStPaul

She looks great – for a 25 year old.

  • AlisonHendryx

she always looks so uncomfortable, like she’s holding in her stomach, or wearing spanx that are too small. she’s full figured and she and her team need to embrace that fact and stop dressing her in things that are aging her just to cover her up.

  • Betsy

I’m in the minority. I think she looks beautiful. The dress is much too fresh and modest for me to ditto the Kardashian references–the hair I agree with–but I still like it? I wonder if it’s bevause she plays the “nerdy” sister on Modern Family and we just aren’t used to seeing her looking like this. Anyway, she might look older but she certainly doesn’t offend me.

  • Cute dress! Not so cute hair.

  • somebody blonde

She looks great. So much less twee than usual.

  • imustacheyouaquestion

    all i see is kardashian!

  • Monabel

    Dress looks chip.

  • Winterlight

    The print looks cheap.

  • semirose

I don’t get how that cute print manages to make her look 30. Maybe it’s the hair?

  • SuzyQuzey

Her curves really work with this dress. She looks better than the model.

  • suzq

That print is way too vibrant. I liked the washed out shade on the model, but I suspect it was lighting.

Poor Ariel is sliding out of her shoes.

  • What a great dress!

  • Man Dala

    Well-played, Alex.

    • demidaemon

I do see a miniature Laura Prepon here and I’m pretty sure that’s not a good thing.

  • demidaemon

I don’t know what it is, but everything here is making her look extremely mature and not in a good way.

  • Madam Von Sassypants

  • gefeylich

Exactly when did Winter join the Kardashian/Jenner mob?

I weep for the little nerd girl she used to be on TV.

  • Cute dress, but I found this so confusing. I kept looking at the picture thinking “Is that really Ariel Winter? I thought I knew what Ariel Winter looked like”. Is she aiming to be cast as Laura Prepon’s daughter in something?

  • ‘Becca’lise Deveaux

I still find it hilarious that her brother is Pugsley from the Addams Family movies.

  • PinkyK

OK so yesterday I thought she was some new young girl I’ve never heard of; now that I’ve figured out who she is I’m horrified! Pobricitia! (I probably spelled that wrong just go with it K?)

  • Jacob Bowen

Had she not changed her hair I would be even more FLOORED than I am already. She looks beautiful and she has definitely been doing a bit of growing up lately…wow, her teenage years have been great to her!
