• Jennifer Bober

Sometimes you really have to wonder. It makes me think the designer is a Gemini. One of their twins is smart and elegant and the other is just plain nuts.

    • ccinnc

      Yes, either hate or love.

    • alyce1213

Yes. Even in the same outfit. For example, the black coat over the naked lace jumpsuit is really exquisite.

    • Nancer

Yes! I was gasping because the looks were so beautiful, then gasping because some were so horrendous! This collection veers from one extreme to the other in the blink of an eye.

    • d4divine

      Brilliant comment!

  • Gatto Nero

Nothing new or exciting here. A lot of recycled ideas and silhouettes. The fabrics look cheap. The gowns with the billowing side ruffles are ridiculous.

    • http://foodycat.blogspot.co.uk/ Alicia

I agree, it seems like every one of these we’ve seen before and done better.

  • MoHub

I want the gown with the cherry blossoms.

  • sienna elm

Some of this is really nice but what’s with all of the animal furs in today’s runway posts? Are we going back to that?

    • oldscrumby

In short? Yes. The fur industry has been campaigning to bring fur back into style and they’ve been targeting fashion designers.

      • sienna elm

Interesting. Thank you for the info!

      • another_laura

Disgusting. I can’t with fur anymore.

    • MightyMarshal

To be fair to this designer, that fur looks synthetic as hell. So maybe it is or maybe some sad animals died in vain to look like cheap fun fur.

      • http://foodycat.blogspot.co.uk/ Alicia

The stuff on their heads looks real to me.

    • Sophie

I can’t distinguish real fur from synthetic one, but I would have thought they would go the non-controversial route and just use fake one?

      • altermyego

I wouldn’t mind fake fur so much if it didn’t still represent that fur is ok for fashion. For those who copy it some will buy faux but others will want the real thing. Especially when you a show a piece with a tail on it.

Is it really THAT necessary to have fur in fashion at all? I can except a full coat in winter in cold climates where it actually serves a purpose, but I still hate it.

        • Sophie

I don’t mind fur being ok for fashion as long as it’s not real one. Can’t the tail be fake as well?

  • Danielle

Call me crazy, but I would love to see muffs make a comeback.

    • Alyssa

Me too. I had one as a child that I wore all winter long!

    • Kent Roby

You can almost see the model’s muff in that 3rd gown.

    • lilibetp

      Me, too. Just not fur.

    • http://foodycat.blogspot.co.uk/ Alicia

      Muff *teehee*

  • hughman

    Bananas Karenina.

  • Nikko Viquiera

Meh. Add the sour expressions on the models and double meh.

  • alyce1213

From the ridiculous (e.g. #6, the blue thing) to the sublime (cherry blossom dress, black coat w/lace shoulders). Mostly no, with some standout pieces.

  • Anna

Nay to the fur, but I love the first and last look (would love to see the first one on Queen Helen).

Laughing at the cream matador shorts-suit and the lace jumpsuit. WTH are the two looks immediately after the lace jumpsuit?

  • anonylind

The camera angle makes almost every model look as if she is sporting a teensy little goatee.

I was coming to say the same thing. Like someone drew a soul patch on most of the photos in the subway or something.

  • Miranda Reseigh

Some of it is nice, but OMG the lace! Plus some of that stuff is fugly. I’m looking at you purple dress with the ruffle.

    • Lorelei_D

Agree! I also feel bad that all the models had to share the same pair of shoes…

  • Gatto Nero

So much of this looks tired and dated.

  • FibonacciSequins

It looks like they’re in a perfectly grand old building. Why are they sticking the models in front of a cheesy/busy/ugly/cheap-looking backdrop? Between that and the fur head poufs, I cannot take this seriously.

    • Gloriana Reginata

So true about the photography. Why choose a backdrop so busy and so at odds with that lovely chevron floor? Then why photograph some of the models half against the backdrop and half against a door from the building?? Did no-one go through these shots before putting them in front of the public?

  • bassfemme

    “Suck it, PETA!!”

  • Monabel

Veering frantically all over the wrong places.

  • evave2

#18 looks like the model is wearing a slip and doing a walk of shame carrying her fur. What the heck.

It looks more fall to me than the Valli collection (the colors are deeper and the material more substantial) but there is some serious strange going on here (I was going to call it weird but while it is weird I still like it better than the Dior collection).

  • Snailstsichr

#11 – with the birds and blossoms is lovely. I wish I was rich and about a foot taller.

  • frannyprof

Another black lace jumpsuit. Sigh. When will this trend die already.

  • crash1212

Some seriously beautiful gownage going on here – interrupted twice by the record scratching hideousity of formal shorts….and the dreaded black lace jumpsuit.

  • MilaXX

Pretty No all around. The white lace top/black skirt might work for Angie if she’s still poledancing Maleficent. The pale pink matador inspired shorts suit might work on the right gal and the navy peplum gown might work on the right person. The rest? Bleech! Who needs things hanging off their boobs?

    • Sophie

Yes! I want to see her in those sleeves.

  • Belvane

After Scarlett and Mammy finished with the dress made out of the green velvet drapes, they stitched up a couple more from a red satin bedspread. Wisely, Scarlett chose the green for her trip to Atlanta.

  • Jackie4g

One big yes on the tree branch white gown, all the rest need some editing.

  • AC Simons

Boob ruffles. No, just no. Some of these looks are gorgeous, but some are just cheap looking (satin!). Don’t go near any open flame.

  • Gloriana Reginata

Every one of these has at least one, if not two, extraneous elements that could go. And for some of them, I wish they had gone, but for the others, the extraneous slut in me is grateful. Ditto on the shiny.

  • Elisabeth Ashley

I’m not sure if I don’t understand fashion enough to enjoy this collection or if it’s honestly just not good. A few of the looks were really beautiful but for the most part it was a no for me

  • Latin Buddy

    Drag queen matronly

  • http://www.robertjamesfischer.tumblr.com Theda

You know that’s too much satin when it looks like a Zac Posen collection. The green dress is costume-ish yet I really like it.

  • marlie

Interesting, but someone needs to edit. There are some pretty pieces, but so many of them have at least 1 element too many. And gowns made out of comforters? I don’t know about that…

    • conniemd

My thought is that it was designed by Marchesa or Versace and then Stella McCartney looked at it and said, what about if we do this to this one and then ….

  • http://angrynerdgirl.net/ Jessi03

There are a few I love, but the droopy tit cape brings me sadness.

  • jenrsmall

This designer seems to have no idea what is flattering to the female form. Or doesn’t care. Made size 0 models look dumpy! Plus – crotch lace?

  • Lisalady161

To me, there’s no middle of the road here. The dress are either ‘Wow’ or ‘Whut’.

  • kimmeister

My favorite look is the beige (!) gown with the birds and branches, followed by the burgundy coatdress-gown, if only it didn’t have that weird sea anemone cape off the back of it.

  • MissusBee

Boob frills cannot be justified. Some of the tailored looks are pretty. Counterpanes as gowns I cannot, unless I’m allowed to wear them to work, in which case brilliant.

  • kittenwithaquip

I feel like I’m looking at Marchesa’s attention-seeking little sister.

    • conniemd

I kinda felt like I was looking at the love child of Marchesa and Stella McCartney. I’d start to think I liked something, but some funky, totally unnecessary design elements that amped up the tackiness.

  • PastryGoddess

    French Zac Posen

  • http://armchairauthor.wordpress.com/ LesYeuxHiboux

That red gown with the floor-length drapes hanging from the bust seems like the most dangerous game of peek-a-boo. I’d like to see Kate Winslet in the green velvet gown and Julianne Moore in the navy blue gown with the plunging neckline and peplum. If Moore can’t muster the necessary posture, it’ll have to be SWINTON. Except now I’m thinking the fabric looks really cheap. Pity. I expect that Elle Fanning will show up in the dress with beaded flowering branches and wrinkly illusion netting, though she really shouldn’t.

  • elirt

Such a mixed bag! Some I love, some are futuristic, some are old Hollywood glam and some are just hideous. Wow.

  • lilibetp

Love the dress with the white lace top and black skirt, the beige dress with the embroidery, and the last dress. The green velvet is also gorgeous, but I don’t really get the beige “bra” front. Did they just not have enough satin to cover that?

  • http://www.bethposts.blogspot.com/ Buffy

    Rizzo is going to prom!

  • Ann VerWiebe

  • JimMcC

I want Chloe Sevigny in the blue shirt/pink tiered skirt STAT!

  • KT

This is so aggressively far from my personal taste, I hate pretty much all of it. Barf.

  • d4divine

What is in the water in gay Paris! Lol

  • RedRaven617

Davy Crockett called. He wants his hat back.

  • Sophie

I really like the first look, and was disappointed by quite a lot of the rest. Editing!

The lace sleeves on 7 and 12 look like princess costumes, I like those.

  • Imasewsure

Why does this all look so cheap??

  • quiltrx

I really like some of the fabrics, and at least the laces are different and not ‘standard cheap lace’. Some of the looks, though, I’m just not sure about. Like there’s one element that throws it to the bad side or something.
I think my favorite thing is the next-to-last gown…easy enough to sew up that to-the-waist neckline and be respectable, methinks.

  • demidaemon

LACE! Now in Frankendresses and jumpsuits with that extra dash of ugly you know you were missing! GET IT NOW!

In other words, this whole collection is UNFORTUNATE.

    • Gatto Nero

      Yes. Tacky, dated, unimaginative.

  • http://www.lippsisters.com/ Deborah Lipp

I think we can all agree that the formal high-waisted shorts suit is an abomination. Otherwise this is sumptuous and wonderful and I feel like a better person for having looked at it.

  • TLJezebel

The green velvet number SCREAMS Christina Hendricks, no?

  • http://gabyrippling.tumblr.com/ Gaby

For some reason, I look at this and think, “Student collection.”

  • Mr. J.

This collection is heavy-spirited–as if the ghosts of Gene Tierney and Joan Crawford (“Johnny Guitar”!) and Rita Hayworth are dragging things down….of course, blank, joyless models don’t help.

  • Hetha Innis

It looks like someone deconstructed a living room for all the fabrics. I’m seeing curtains and upholstery all over the place. So many oddly constructed sleeves, so much poorly deployed lace, so aggressively ugly.

  • lilazander

It’s overdesigned, too much goodness cannot be good.

  • formerlyAnon

As has been said, this ping pongs from beautiful genius to hideously overdone and not-even-that-well-made and back again. Were I younger, taller and richer (eta: and had a Big Event sort of life), I’d be shopping this collection, though. When it’s right it’s beautiful.

  • http://www.jocurimagice.com rebbyA

A little while ago I saw on TV a fashion post this collection. It is absolutely gorgeous. Even gave me some ideas about a tnute I want to do for my wedding.
