Kirsten Dunst for Madame Figaro Magazine

Posted on June 03, 2014

The last time Kirsten sexed it up in a pool went really bad for her. And by that we mean that we didn’t like the pictures, which is just about the worst fate we could ever wish on anyone: our disapproval.

Anyway, these shots are hot, so we figured she deserved the spotlight.

Oh, fashion editors. We love you so. “This Burberry blouse and Prada coat are PERFECT for poolside!” Who else has such fabulously deranged thoughts?

Maybe it’s the distressing, but the jeans in the cover shot look cheap, like they have a lot of Spandex in them. I’m really into the polka dot-and-stripe ensemble, though.

    • hughman

I never thought I’d ever hear myself say “Oh look, she forgot her sheer skirt.”

    • gabbilevy

I think that’s the same D&G swimsuit that made it to the covers of a couple of Vogue’s international editions (one of which featured Kate Upton). The Girls have them.

      • Sarah

Kate is wearing the bikini version on the cover of Vogue UK’s June edition. I actually love the bikini a lot more as it comes across as a lot more retro and fun. And yes, hella boobalicious on Kate.

    • kimmeister

Those giant Chloe sunglasses are hilarious. Also funny is the amount of English words on the cover of the magazine. Reminds me of the recent finale of “Tengo Talento, Mucho Talento” that my husband was watching, where the “Top Five” were announced.

      • cowper

I had to go back and read after you pointed that out. My favorite is probably “Nos adresses trendy”. But I am mystified by “Best of des bracelets intelligents”. Quoi?

    • charlotte

She is unrecognizable in those poolside shots. I would have believed it if you had told me that the magazine is also featuring Kristen Bell and Mischa Barton.

      • fursa_saida

        I was thinking Emma Stone.

        • Gorengirl

a heavily made up Laura Dern, Haha

    • another_laura

I was having fun until I saw the model shot of that Prada coat. That is an UGLY COAT and it deserved to be partially obscured in the editorial. The exact opposite of coat porn. My eyes, they are offended.

      • barbarienne

Indeed. I am consistently annoyed by these editorials with the retro filters thrown on the images to make them look like old, faded family photos. I don’t see any of the supposed “artfulness” of it, especially when they’re also following the lack-of-composition-and-framing someone’s dad might do with a cheap 110 camera. Next they’ll cut off the tops of people’s heads. My mom couldn’t center a pic to save her life. (And FFS, they need to put the white frame around the edges to make it really authentic.)

But if ever a coat deserved to have its colors washed out and its design blurred, this is it.

        • Gorengirl

          I LOVED the coat, LOL!

      • zenobar

        The Prada coat is vile.

    • MilaXX

These are really good. The cover shot reminds me of Bridget Bardot. Terrific styling on the other 2.

    • Violentcello

Damn. The editors may be “fabulously deranged,” but that second image is hot.

    • lexilexi

      She looks great with bangs!

    • bookish

I’m curious if her back is really that free of freckles or if they were edited out. I sure wish I could go back in time and tell my teenage self to protect my skin better from the sun.

      • http://redheadedwolf.wordpress.com/ Laura Renee

Lol, edited for sure — not just of freckles, but any spots or marks whatsoever. That pristine whiteness comes naturally to no one.

        • BKagainwiththesweatpants

Except for the glorious translucence that is Michelle Dockery!

          • http://redheadedwolf.wordpress.com/ Laura Renee

I’m willing to bet even she has at least a mole or birthmark somewhere on her skin.

    • BobStPaul

      Wowza.

    • Tanya Wade

She’s giving me young Marianne Faithfull on the cover. As for the pool shots, not so much.

    • http://phantomminuet.blogspot.com/ MinAgain

My SIL teaches first graders. I only menion this, because that coat reminds me of an elementary school art project.

    • Courtenay P

I’m just thankful we weren’t subjected to any interview quotes.

      • demidaemon

I KNOW. That’s about 70% of the reason the cover image irritates me so much. The other 30% comes from how cliche and overused it is.

    • crash1212

Her hair should always look like that. Fab pics.

    • Shawn EH

That’s the best way to feature that coat; half-hidden and reclining atop it!

    • E.Nelson

Kirsten has always stood out to me as a blonde because she’s a blonde with a very apparent dark side – and in that context I think overtly French styling/tones really suit her. She should look to Marianne/Brigitte/Carine for her cues AT ALL TIMES.

    • demidaemon

The cover shot is all kinds of irritating to me, but the poolside shots are all pretty fabulous.

    • http://attiresmind.blogspot.com/ Kiltdntiltd

That Prada coat may be the single ugliest thing I have clapped eyes on yet this year. Thank god that in the photograph you can’t really see it.

    • sienna elm

I absolutely love the D&G suit!

    • marlie

That coat was the biggest WTF. Whoever came up with that one must have been smoking something. A June issue with a pool setting, and a coat is what they come up with?

Otherwise, I think Kiki looks great. Attagirl.

      • zenobar

See, you’re pretty charitable here. I assumed someone had to’ve been smoking, drinking, snorting AND injecting something, for things to have gone so horribly awry with that coat.

    • RescueMe23

I miss models on magazine covers and wearing the clothes inside them.

      • alyce1213

        My mantra.

    • Trickytrisha

She’s quite lovely on the cover, but ya know, she does have a neck. Madam Figaro… why’d you ‘shop it out?

    • alyce1213

The coat is hysterically ugly, like they were trying to be funny.
I love the Blouse and Panty (laughing from “Panty”) and the D&G suit. But except for the cover, are we even sure this is Kiki?

    • smh4748

I love the D&G suit–though I’m not sure it was strictly necessary to have the, uh, blossoming, emitting from her lady parts, because now I can’t see it any other way.

That coat is hilarious. It’s got a very “70s art project” vibe to it, kind of like a segment on an old episode of Sesame Street.

    • LadyVimes

I mean, it’s better than looking at that Prada coat. A pool is a good visual distraction when the clothes are awful.

    • FibonacciSequins

What do you mean? I wear my designer wool coats poolside all the time!

I remember those other pool photos. Much, much better this time. That cover shot is to die for!

    • Fuchsiaforever

      Much better Kirsten!

    • TwiddlyStun

I remember wearing culottes in the 1970’s, and they were nothing like that D&G number.

    • GinaGeo

I just sold a 15 year old Talbots dress at a garage sale with the same pattern as that D&G swimsuit. Now I am having regrets.

    • CPK1

She looks great but the granny panty needs to die. As does the word panty

    • understateddiva

the blue-ish filter doesn’t do anything for me, at least for a summer spread w/ a pale blond actress.

    • ankali

That cover is the sexiest photo I’ve ever seen of her.

    • Gatto Nero

She looks gorgeous here, even in that crazy Prada coat.

    • Glammie

I have a soft spot for Kiki–not the brightest creature–but she’s made some interesting movies. She looks great here–enough so, that I started to wonder what she’s doing.

And I love the bathing suit. As for the Prada–Miucca loves to troll fashion every couple of years of so. She and Lena Dunham should get together.

      • marlie

If we have to deal with a year or more of Prada + Lena Dunham assery (thanks, TLo, for that word), I’m blaming you.

    • Hysterectomypants

You know, I never had any opinion on her at all, but I saw her on Graham Norton a couple of weeks ago and fell in love. She seems really, really sweet and goofy.

In other words, she’s obviously done nothing to deserve that coat.

    • http://redheadedwolf.wordpress.com/ Laura Renee

“The last time Kirsten sexed it up in a pool went really bad for her. And by that we mean that we didn’t like the pictures, which is just about the worst fate we could ever wish on anyone: our disapproval.”
And I cracked up, for my last laugh before bed. Seriously guys, I am here for your commentary, not the pictures. :)

    • Constant Reader

Could the “photos that look like grainy shots taken in the 1970s because Art” trend please die?

    • Kent Roby

As far as “coat porn” goes, that Prada is a snuff film. Kirsten does look good here.

    • decormaven

I quite like the second shot. Bardot realness.

    • Danielle

Thankful there’s no pretentious soundbite this time. Living for those Chloe sunnies.

    • stubbornthoughts

The Burberry is fantastic, I don’t care if it’s a blouse poolside. But those Chloe shades are fucking phenomenal.

    • Qitkat

That cover shot is stunning! Not fashion, but seriously flattering.
J’adore the floral bathing suit. And the BP dotted blouse.

    • Gorengirl

      Love that coat!!

    • Gorengirl

My, a little heavyhanded with that airbrush… Looks like a tarted up Laura Dern… Looks NOTHING like Kirsten Dunst

    • moweezy

obsessed with the dolce and gabbana florals this season… if only I had the money to wear them!

    • Dany

She’s one of the most unique blondes in Hollywood. She has this edge to her that I find rather alluring. Her movies are quite interesting as well….however, I cannot stand the movie she did that was called Melancholia. Most pretentious work of garbage I have ever seen.
