I feel like the faux suspenders should bother me more, but I think she looks cute. Plus the knee scab is kind of endearing.

    • AlexisPayne

      Can’t unsee that now

    • YoungSally

      Na noo na noo

    • Anna

For some reason I like this too – and I really don’t know why. Maybe it’s just Jordana.

    • Kent Roby

same here with the “suspenders”. I do kinda love how they seem to melt into the skirt.

    • Starts with K

All I could think of was Mork & Mindy.

  • Michele

The shoes look terribly painful. But I agree she looks cute.

    • Kristi Mitchell

this is the opposite of the too big shoe trend – not really sure which is worse. . . . . Scratch that – shoes that are too small is is ALWAYS worse than too big.

  • Ali B

    Well, she’s on theme…

  • Trent

This looks like she’s auditioning for “Jem and the Holograms: The Movie.” Not that that’s a bad thing…

  • Tracy_Flick

    Mork and Mindy realness.

  • Alyssa

Very on point, and not near as bad as I expected when I saw Pilotto’s name. I really like the skirt overlay, but I think it called for different shoes.

    • jen_vasm

I agree – I usually get all biblical and think, ‘What hath Pilotto wrought this time?’ when he gets name-checked by TLo, but this isn’t too batshitty.

  • Danielle

    Caul fat skirt.

  • SuzyQuzey

    Love the shoes!

  • Glam Dixie

Well I, huh, well…I like the shoes a lot.

  • MinAgain

I like it, but I can’t articulate why.

  • demidaemon

Well, this event sounds pretentious as is possible, and that dress looks like modified overalls that a hippie threw up over at three different periods of time. In other words, none of it goes together and is an offense to my eyes.

ETA: Now that I have seen it is an actual OVERLAY, I think it is an even dumber design and hate it more.

    • kimmeister

I was expecting the worst when I saw PP in the title, but it was even worse than I imagined.

      • demidaemon

That PP, always setting new lows! I can’t wait for his next appearance! *BARF*

        • alyce1213

          It’s become fun . . . sort of.

          • demidaemon

He definitely is an easy target for any crankiness that has been built up over the day and is a safe target to take out all that crankiness on.

          • bitchybitchybitchy

If I ever make the Raf Simon fashion voodoo doll, Pilotto will be next on the list.

          • demidaemon

You should put these up on Etsy or EBay. You could make a killing from BKs and beleaguered assistants alone.

          • bitchybitchybitchy

            You’re too kind!

        • Little_Olive

Really, I cannot understand why he is still around. All he pulls out are frankendresses, IMO. And the individual parts are not pretty, either.

          • demidaemon

He’s making money somehow. If you remove the overlay, this dress may be salvageable, but, then again, I’m not sure how short it is without it. So you may be right, at least in this instance.

    • bitchybitchybitchy

His designs hurt my eyes. Peter, try picking ONE pattern, pair it with a solid color that is in the pattern and just try to create something that is pleasing to the eye and doesn’t make the wearer look like a fashion victim. Yes, I know, I”m dreaming and/or cranky.

      • demidaemon

Dreaming, maybe. Cranky, not at all. If anyone deserves your ire, PP certainly qualifies. I mean, you aren’t asking for much, in my opinion.

        • bitchybitchybitchy

PP could think about whether combining clashing patterns is truly creative, or a tired cliche that he’s falling back on when he’s running short of ideas.

          • demidaemon

I do wonder if he really thinks this is awesome design and his aesthetic can’t be beat or if he’s just trolling the fashion world and the consumer base. It’s hard to know without picking his mind, and I am a little afraid to do just that.

          • bitchybitchybitchy

Yes, a voyage into PP’s mind sound rather daunting (and just a trife scary) to me. We can continue to sit here and kvetch about him!

  • a_liking

about as much of a “butterfly dress” something can be without resorting to actual butterfly wings. don’t like the shape of the bodice and the overlay is a little awkward.

  • kimmeister

The design of the straps around the toes is horrible. Who wants their next-to-pinky toe to escape like that?

    • FibonacciSequins

      Right? It looks painful.

      • kimmeister

I have one pair of shoes that makes that toe of my right shoe only try to escape. It’s not painful, it’s just SUPER annoying.

        • MilaXX

I had a shoe like that. I started putting one of those corn pads over the hole to keep the toe in. Worked like a charm.

          • kimmeister

That’s a good idea, thanks! Heck, it might even work with clear packing tape so that there isn’t a color mismatch with my skin.

          • MilaXX

I liked the corn pads because sometimes that area will rub and the little pad also provides a nice cushion.

    • KateShouldBeWorking

Darling, it’s the new thing! They’re called “flop flips”.

  • alyce1213

I still think Pilotto is demented, or maybe his mind is just very cluttered. Why/how does he consistently come up with these things?

  • Julie Chase

The Tao of Pilotto: pick a few interesting patterns, a few interesting colors, THROW THEM THE FUCK INTO THE AIR LIKE YOU JUST DON’T CARE, and make a dress from a random pairing.

    • alyce1213

Awhile back I called them pin-the-tail-on-the-donkey dresses — designed and made blindfolded, of course.

      • demidaemon

This one seems particularly relevant to that metaphor, as that is certainly not only how the overlay was chosen for the dress, it is how it is actually attached as well.

  • j_am

It’s interesting, and I like how the suspenders melt into the skirt. I’m just not into PP’s aesthetic, though. And based on the number of PP items on the Target sale racks, neither is most of America.

  • Bad Idea Jeans

Hello, Gigantic Lace Overlay. Don’t you have somewhere else to be? Like covering a window?

  • deelup

Top half is a crossing guard vest and the bottom half is spin art. Both giving me flashbacks to elementary school.

  • Audrey Lee

I actually like the dress. I’d like the shoes if they weren’t half a size too small, too. Perhaps not together though.

  • MilaXX

It’s pretty good. I wish the under dress was a hair longer & maybe a thin bad where the 2 fabrics meet. The biggest misstep are the too small shoes. They look even more uncomfortable that the usual 2 sizes too big shoes that so many lady celebs get stuck with.

  • gabbilevy

    • KateShouldBeWorking

      And that’s to your credit.

    • demidaemon

You are certainly better for it. It’s a sign of sanity.

  • Ass Kicking Adviser

Love the dress. Hate the shoes. I do not know who this gal is but she is awfully pretty.

  • boweryboy

    Pilotto strikes again.

  • jtabz

Her radiance would be able to overcome the Pilottoness of it all were it not for that stinking overlay.

  • Milos Mom

Love the dress. Just wish she had her hair up for severity and effort. She is not doing the dress justice.

  • decormaven

Why is she backed into a corner for a photo op? Are they trapping celebrities now?

    • ktr33

      Dunce corner

  • smh4748

Pilotto has an irrational love affair with this skirt silhouette, but–and I’m baffled that I’m saying this–I kind of like the skirt on this one. I don’t love the abrupt line and stylistic difference between the skirt and the bodice, but I kind of love the bottom half of the dress. I’m a little ashamed. :-/

Great makeup though, and she’s got an absolutely adorable smile.

  • LeelaST

Again, why is this man allowed to make clothes? Does he have “dirt” on everyone in the design industry?

  • random_poster

I keep going back and looking at it trying my hardest to hate it, but I can’t. I think she looks cute, and my eyes tell me the worst part about this are the shoes. What is wrong with me?

      Me too

  • CT14

Ugh Pilotto makes yet another ugly garment.

I suppose hologram shoes were the only way to go.

  • ThaliaMenninger

Bright and breezy. The shoes look painful, but overall, I’m kinda down with this.

  • BlairBear

I don’t hate this . I think it would be better without the orange ribbon strips but compared to some of his stuff it’s not eye assaulting and nausea inducing

  • International Model

Judging by the placement of that lace, Tom must be bringing Mr. O’Connor for dinner

  • Bert Keeter

HORRID! That’s all….. Thought that trend of loud, abstract color and lopsided shapes was outré!

  • livesarah

Love it. She obviously had word on exactly what colour the backdrop was going to be. Very summery, and the colours suit her.

  • Margaret Grace

This dress reminds me of those Lisa Frank folders and book covers that were huge in the late 90s.

  • MyFavoriteColorIsGlitter

  • DuBey2

Well, she looks cute as can be. Dress, shoes, her coloring. Seriously. I must be the only one who loves them together. If I were younger I would DEFinitely want to wear this, with those shoes. I just don’t like scarred knees with a mini… thats my only quibble.

  • Imasewsure

I like pattern mixing… as usual I don’t like this… go away PP

  • NinjaCate

I like the idea of this a lot more than the execution. The colours all work, and I kind of like the shape, but something just… doesn’t come together for me.

  • malarson2

She’s more a Punky than a Jordana in this getup.

  • MoHub

I’m all for mixing prints when it’s done right, but this is making my eyes twitch.

  • ktr33

we don’t need the Jetsons plastic lace tablecloth overskirt. The rest of it as slim shift would be super cute. And although I’m not in love with the shoes, credit for going out there with holographic footwear! Also the jewelry and clutch belong with a different outfit. Wrong … theme.

  • MarissaLG

One of the worse looks we’ve seen in a while. It reminds me of an illustrated children’s book of Noah’s Ark.

  • MandyM

The shoes are great! The dress is just too strange for it to be pretty.

  • suzq

That top has some Godspell realness going on there. The skirt is interesting. Only Peter Pilotto would put them both together, but the sum is not more than the parts in this case.
Do starlets draw straws to see who’s wearing the Peter Pilotto this week? If my stylist brought me that outfit, I’d say, “Maybe the skirt.” If he told me they were attached, I’d say, “Bring me the scissors!”

  • marlie

GAWD that’s ugly. Pilotto strikes again.

  • Pablo

The sandals don’t flatter her feet AT ALL.
