    • Sarah

She looks like a Danielle Steele novel heroine. (She’s classy, tasteful, and beautiful, but how can she manage motherhood, being a famous newscaster, and a new love all at once?)

      • charlotte

Is the new love the doctor she takes her daughter to because of a mysterious illness (that turns out to be nothing serious once they have fallen in love)?

        • Sarah

          But of course!

    • TonyGo

Are black roots a “thing” again? ugh.

      • sienna elm

I suspect she couldn’t book her colourist in time for this event. Maybe it was a last minute acceptance or maybe there was a flood at the salon ~

        • Tracy M

If one can’t get one’s colorist, one should opt for an updo, or anything really, beside a harsh center-part.

      • J.W.

The first thing that caught my eye were the darks roots…again. As well as the dark brows, which I probably would not have noted if it weren’t for the dark roots. I knew a girl who had natural blonde hair and natural dark brows – she was lovely.
After the roots, my eyes immediately dropped to the odd hemline.

        • Irene Palma

I think you just wrote a song.

          • J.W.

            Why, thank you very much!

        • Yosa Addiss

I know! I have been waiting for over 10 years for roots shots to become hideously embarrassing fails people can’t wait to poke fun at. I will continue to wait.

    • kimmeister

The color of the dress would have worked better had all of her hair been the color of her roots.

    • Lori

This is so shiny and has such a wonky hem, it’s giving me a sad. The stripes were always going to look a bit “little princess circus”, but I could probably have overlooked that if it wasn’t shiny. Also,Jaime is demonstrating why clear purses aren’t a good idea.

      • GSMSF

Yes and the fit is bad and the long sleeves are totally off season. The whole thing kind of looks like a satin straight jacket.

        • Boulderista

I’d like this IF it fit better and was a new year’s eve dress…I imagine then it would look sort of refreshing.

      • MoHub

The weird hem is what drew my eye, and now I can’t look at anything else.

    • hughman

Gah, those horizontal stripes make her look like a size 2!

    • Karen Belgrad

Long sleeved satin in May/June in Vegas…. No.

    • FibonacciSequins

That’s not anyone’s dress. Her makeup is lovely.

    • Danielle

Why does it look so much more tailored on the model? Hate how shiny the fabric is.

    • teensmom99

Maybe if it didn’t say “summer soiree” right on top of her head . . .

    • http://redheadedwolf.wordpress.com/ Laura Renee

I’m going to say right now that that dress suits no one.

      • Anne At Large

        For Mannequins Only?

        • demidaemon

          For Nobody Ever.

    • @Biting Panda

This fabric would be perfect for a precious little settee, in someone named Muffy’s sitting room.

      • Judih1

An a pearl necklace that was her grandmother’s.

    • NMMagpie

My first thought was: “Is there a Mary Kay convention in town?”

    • ScarlettHarlot

      That’s an Elle Fanning dress.

    • Miss wks

who is this skinny pepppermint stick who needs a roots job and why should I care?

    • decormaven

The hem on that is giving me the eye twitch.

    • Malibufire

Someone please show me one good dress in satin. I’ve never seen it.

      • Miss wks

        “Not today Satin, NOT today…..”

      • Beardslee

Ginger Rogers wears some great ones in her movies with Fred Astaire. I don’t know how she managed to dance in those without them wrinkling to a fare thee well, but she looks fantastic.

    • Glam Dixie

I hate this so much. Gunnysacks knock off. Horrible color, shapeless, too long. No. Go home. Start over.

      • Imasewsure

Ah Gunnysacks… middle school culmination dance, how I remember my Jessica McClintock Gunnysack “gown” with the bat wing butterfly lace sleeves!! It kinda looked better than this…. :)

        • ballerinawithagun

My Gunnysack looked way better than this! 1975, bought it at the Apricot Clothing Emporium in Sioux Falls, SD. All white with peacocks embroidered into the lace. I’ll have to search my mother’s closets. I think it is still there.

          • luluransom

Aaah, Gunnysacks. Ninth grade graduation, 1975, Palo Alto CA. Dusty blue flowered w/ cream lace trim and batwing sleeves. $27.00, bought w babysitting money because my mother the shopaholic said it was too ugly to pay actual money for. Still have it in a box somewhere.

            • http://armchairauthor.wordpress.com/ LesYeuxHiboux

This thread explains so much. I was raised by my father, who graduated from high school in 1975, and whenever a formal dance was coming up he said we had to find a Gunnysacks for a dress. I had never heard anyone but him talk about that store/brand. My sister and I, she graduated in 1993 and I in 2002, both made yearly treks with him during high school to the Jessica MicClintock outlet in San Francisco…which I guess must have been Gunnysacks at one point.

    • PastryGoddess

I dozed off scrolling down the page

    • rkdgal

I hate that there’s not more contrast between the two colors; as it is, it looks like fancy wallpaper.

    • sienna elm

What I don’t understand is why – at a “jewelry summer soiree” you have to really look to see the jewelry!

    • Lily

This is bordering on Stepford, and it ages her terribly.

    • ChelseaNH

      Needs hemming.

    • allisankelly

Nothing says Summer Soiree like a heavy looking, long sleeved, below the knee, pink peppermint striped dress. AmIright??

    • http://phantomminuet.blogspot.com/ MinAgain

No. No, no, no, no, no. It looks like she made a dress from her lingerie bag. That hem is atrocious.

    • Imasewsure

It’s cool that Jaime has the time to take a sewing class…. hopefully she can sign up for a second semester or two if she continues to want to make her own RC dresses

    • Janet B

Looks like a dress for Barbie

    • Dan_In_NYC

      shapeless!

    • DagnyReardon

A candy striper is all growed up.

    • t bell

Something’s wrong with that hem line; is it a pulled thread that made it pucker up? Not to sound hateful but it looks like those roots need a touch up.

      • demidaemon

Looks like just a bad hem job to me.

    • GeoDiva

You have to be tall and skinny to wear this….oh wait she is!

    • KT

This looks exactly like those Louis Vuitton dresses from a few seasons ago, no? Both the sleeves and the hem are fighting with the summery feel of the dress. Hair and makeup look a little… rough.

      • PastryGoddess

        this is the cheap version

      • DuBey2

I loved those LV dresses. Checks. But this needs to be tweaked quite a bit. Hem, sleeve length, etc.

    • Judih1

Can’t see anything but those dark roots on her hair and that wonky pose. I just don’t get the dark roots thing. Gwen Stefani who colors her hair like this never has dark roots. Are ladystars who have dark roots lazy or is this a trend?

    • http://tvblogster.blogspot.com Boop

      Dark roots and ribbon candy.

    • demidaemon

      So shiny and blindingly ugly.

    • Jacqueline Wessel

That dress looks very uncomfortable. It’s stiff, high necked, long-sleeved, and looks like she can’t move.

    • quiltrx

In one way it’s pretty….in another way it makes her look something on the wedding gift table.

    • BLauD

Too distracted by the model picture. The one sharing Jaime’s dress is looking at the other model like, “Uh. Girl. It’s time to get you a cab.”

    • Margaret Grace

I don’t love it, but I follow her on Instagram and she’s adorable, so she gets a free pass from me! Also, if it was in navy and cream, I would want that ASAP.

    • http://gabyrippling.tumblr.com/ Gaby

Didn’t we just get done with Marc Jacob’s stockpile of this material last year? Did Katie Emilio get it on discount?
In other news, I’m now craving strawberry ice cream.

    • http://weirdinedgewise.blogspot.com ONEWEIRDWORD

I love it; the pale pink, the stripes, the freshness, the clear clutch, and the shoes. Love.

    • poggi

Is this too loose on her? Or maybe it’s not for real life. She looks better in it than anyone has a right too. I don’t hate it, but I don’t like it either. I do, however, love that swirly ring.

    • DesertDweller79

This dress reminds me of a washed out version of a dress from that Louis Vuitton collection from a few seasons ago that all the celebs went gaga over. This one has stripes which are much more drab, and the fabric/tailoring isn’t as good.

    • marlie

Pink plastic Barbie shoes. That’s what I see.

    • Tee

Looks like a cast member from The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City.

    • dschubba

      Victoria’s Secret shopping bag

    • http://www.bertkeeter.com Bert Keeter

      Candy Striper Straight Jacket?

    • Dora Kishinevsky

So. Bad. It looks bad on the model too, but the bad fit on Jamie King makes it look completely shapeless on top of the original weirdness.

    • GillianHolroyd

I’m getting an LV flashback here–Spring 2013– but I love stripes. The fit is terrible though; the bodice is huge and the sleeves as well, very strange. It’s also looking a bit covered up for summer in Las Vegas.

    • MarissaLG

Fantastic dress. A little big, maybe. Nails are the wrong color.

    • MissusBee

With the bland styling it’s a bit anaemic and sickly-sweet to me, plus the length doesn’t look quite right.
On the model it looks like a sort of pencil dress, but on her it looks like a funny midi-thing, which plus the blah shoes make it a bit matronly, like something a very moneyed 70+ year old would wear.
I wasn’t aware of Simon G., but just googled it and apparently their jewellery is ‘what true love looks like’. Maybe that’s what was making me feel queasy, not the dress.

    • Lizzy

Great dress for our Mormon friends though……

    • DuBey2

Is it just me, or do her hands look 10 years older than the rest of her? ‘Cause if she IS the age of her hands, then I want the name of her surgeon.

    • Suzanne Moore

Maybe because it’s 109 in Tucson, but…I think that dress looks really hot and really sticky. Must be part of the ‘wear fall clothes in summer’ trend.

    • Pablo

Is it just me that is seeing her face a bit plastic?

    • Tracy_Flick

Wow, that is an incredibly aging look.

    • http://www.readbarbara.com/ ReadBarbara

      that’s a seriously Stepford look.

    • http://armchairauthor.wordpress.com/ LesYeuxHiboux

Her dress looks like the bench in a Victoria’s Secret dressing room.

    • Pterodactyl111

      Wow, that’s hideous.
