Man, this was way more promising in the thumbnail.

  • Anna

I really like this dress, but I do feel like it would be more appropriate for early spring. Even though the material is light, it just looks hot with the long sleeves, high neckline, and length.

    • Shug

Concur, and the hair isn’t quite right.

  • lexilexi

It’s like a granma dress…. and the hair doesn’t help.

    • Sarah

Ha! My grandma actually had a comforter/bed set in a very similar print, with matching curtains. Luckily she never wrapped herself in a curtain and went to an awards dinner.

    • Snarkmeister

She looks about 98 here. It’s WAY aging.

  • @Biting Panda

I’m so sick of the Heidi hair and nothing about this says June.

  • sugarkane105

Cute colors, but I’m getting hot and itchy just looking at it.

  • I would have popped the color at the eyes instead of the lips to keep it from looking like Little House and the Prairie After Dark…

    • lunchcoma

Yeah, that lipstick is one of many bad decisions.

      • Bad Idea Jeans

Straight up Wet n’ Wild 99 cent rack.

    • smayper

HA! Little House porn…I bet it exists.

  • hughman

One more inch of eyebrow and she’s Frieda Kahlo.

  • ktr33

I don’t know who she is (Neve Cambell redux?), but does she usually have a waist? Because it’s gone missing in this dress. It’s just heavy-looking and overpowering and too old for her. I can see it working on Dame Helen, tho. [edit:] and the hair’s too busy for such a busy dress.

    • Anne At Large

She was in the first Captain America movie and looks SO MUCH BETTER in the ’40’s era styles.

      • AnaRoW

She was in both Captain America movies (although in old person makeup in the second) and she’s starring in the upcoming Agent Carter series based on that character.

I think the dress is pretty but because she’s, um, healthier than the model, and because of the hair, it reads older.

      • ktr33

Ah. I clearly don’t see enough superhero movies bc many of these kiddos are like, “who?” for me.

  • fiddlecub

It’s nice to see that Shady Pines is letting her out from time to time.

  • MilaXX

meh. I don’t like the hair, the dress is too long and I wish she had picked a different color bag other than black.

  • Danielle

    Pinterest braids make me sad.

    • Qitkat

I don’t mind the braids, but they need to be perfection, and these are not, the pulling on the scalp in the side view takes it from glamorous to ‘my roommate did this.’

      • Lower L

She needs to contact Yulia Tymoshenko for braid lessons.

  • ThaliaMenninger

I wore something similar to a Christmas dance in 1975. I really don’t enjoy continually saying things like this, but it’s true! I borrowed it from my roommate. The dress was a floral pattern where this appears to be embroidery, but still… Fairly close facsimile.

    • FibonacciSequins

I remember dresses like this from the mid-70s.

      • MoHub

        Moi aussi.

        • Grumpy Girl

          I had one too!

  • Frank_821

I realize in the 2nd Capt America film her character is pushing 90 but good lord!. What a shame!

  • Imasewsure

Everything about this is kind of old and awkward… also thought this was Demi Lovato… kind of glad it isn’t because I rag on that poor girl enough already

  • FibonacciSequins

I don’t approve of her makeup situation. Can’t stand that shade of pink for lipstick, and otherwise her face looks more scrubbed clean than made up. It contrasts oddly with the granny dress. It’s pretty but looks too mature for her.

  • Sarah

That necklace on the runway goes a long way toward making this less somber. But, it still ain’t no almost-summer dress.

  • nannypoo

Everything here is bad but the lipstick is the worst.

  • GeoDiva

What did they do to her hair and lovely face?

  • Amel

The hairstyle and dress are both aging, and the dress is also doing a great job of hiding her very good figure, so … why, hayley, why?

  • demidaemon

This girl looks way too young to be wearing that dress.

  • crash1212

Guess I’m in the minority here, but I like this quite a lot. It’s a beautiful, delicate dress that fits well. I love the braids and the clutch. Maybe the lip color could’ve been a shade darker…but I’m not mad at this at all.

  • Sarah Rivas

I just think she is so amazing, but I’m also a huge Peggy Carter fan, so I may be biased. Her hair is always so perfect.

  • Dany

I am really tired of that Fraulein hair. She looks like she should be a governess for the Von Trapp family.

  • Glam Dixie

The model is killing it in this look, but she is so very matronly.

    • Beardslee

The neckline is too high on her, I think that’s part of the problem. And while it would be a lovely dress on someone else, on her it just makes her look squat.

  • rebeemoon

    Sister wife.

  • marlie

Pretty enough, but not seasonally-appropriate. Her lipstick isn’t the right shade, though.

  • Shades of Ingrid Bergman in “Gas Light”! But …not in a good way.

  • bringbackbeatles

That hair is awful! From the side, the hair style actually distorts the shape of her head. The dress seems off season to me and somewhat matronly on her. It’s just not her dress. I would love to see it on Helen Mirren who ironically I feel would inject some youth and whimsy., but not until it’s cooler outside.

  • Melissa Mendes

    I think she looks awesome.

  • joything

This might be another one that is For Models Only.

  • KT

This would look so much better on Helen Mirren.

    • ktr33

just what I said. Btw, as a child, I was called KT, and still am by cousins, etc.

      • KT

        Haha KT minds think alike!

  • quiltrx

Pretty, but awfully covered-up for the season. I’m sweating just thinking about having to wear those sleeves.

  • jif

Little House on the Prairie. Or Madame Blavatsky. But I like!

  • annrr

I am WAY better at braiding than the hack who did her hair and I just do it or fun so my “clients” for the last 20 years are 8 year old girls.

  • Margaret Grace

I want a modern hairdo with this. Ponytail with some volume? Also, no no no to that lipstick.

  • DebbieLovesShoes

    Kindof sick of that hairstyle.

  • ankali

Well, it’s stunning on the model.

  • It’s a bit missing-Olson-twin.

  • Drunken Housewife

I’m thinking of this as one of the “Girl, that’s not your dress” features. The person who would look good in this is Lupita Nyong’o. On this woman, it makes her look like she’s going to a prom while still in mourning.

  • ScarlettHarlot

I don’t love it from the front, but from the profile it works for me. I hate the lipstick color.

  • RescueMe23

Honey – powder your face – I can see my own reflection on your forehead.

  • MarissaLG

LOVE. Agree that it’s not right for early June, but I think it’s lovely. Makeup and hair are a perfect addition to the gown.

  • Wink

That’s a whole lotta flowers (and fabric)! Make it sleeveless, and it would be a little better.

  • numenah

    For Florence Welch only.

  • suzq

It would be a better short dress. It’s length takes it into Downton Abbey territory.

  • formerlyAnon

It’s a very . . . elegant matron silhouette. But nice enough. It’s her head that’s wrong. Bigger hair or earrings or a different neckline? And I do not think that lipstick works at all.

  • boweryboy

I love the embroidery but not the dress.

  • Tracy_Flick

That’s a scroll-down “Please end. Why aren’t you ending? Are you still going?” A couple feet off the hem would have made this a lot less granny-adjacent.

  • shopgirl716

Take this off and give it to Helen Mirren, stat. You are WAY too young for this.

  • altermyego

There has been an awful lot of pink lipstick lately and it hasn’t looked good on any of them. It’s just a bad color that needs to go away.
