The clutch looks like it’s made out of homemade soap.

It’s a pretty dress, not much to hate and not much to love.

    • kipper

      I was thinking cheese

      • smayper

        YES!! Old cheese, to boot.

    • SewingSiren

My god. I wrote the same thing about the soap bag.

      • RussellH88

It looks EXACTLY like the kind of homemade soap that my Great Aunt Kay would make, which would send my mom into tizzies about all of the different “flavors” of soap that she could make.

        • Grumpy Girl

It looks like the industrial strength soap we kept in the sink in the garage, back from my dad’s days as a machinist, because it cleaned anything and smelled viciously effective. That was the flashback I had with that clutch.

          • decormaven

            Was the soap Lava Soap?

          • DebbieLovesShoes

My dad had that too, for when he worked on cars. It was gritty and weird. Can’t believe somebody else remembers that!

      • AlisonS

I was getting READY to write about the soap bag! Make a Tyler Durden joke and everything.

        • Suzanne Moore

Ah! Tyler Durden. Thanks for that reference. I feel the need to watch Fight Club!

          • Lindsay McCarthy

Shhh, don’t talk about Fight Club!

    • Jacob Bowen

Was looking for a “don’t drop the soap” meme in these pictures.

    • It looks exactly like a brand of soap one of my aunts would buy, not make, but I cannot remember the brand name.

  • Mary Lauer

Cute dress. Just say no to cocker spaniel hair and silly putty shoes, tho, kthxbye.

  • kipper

All the other bridesmaids secretly hated Emmy.

  • Karen Belgrad

Love the softness of the pattern, but the blank space above her right knee is a distraction from the pretty.

    • sienna elm

Yes! I can’t handle the plain panel being only at the middle of the hemline and nowhere else (although maybe at the back too – it’s hard to tell). Why not have the plain panel in other areas so it looks less like a mistake?

      • Karen Belgrad

It does kind of look like she spilled bleach on herself, doesn’t it?

      • ktr33

looks like they photoshopped it out

  • Pretty much a yawn this is. Putty shooz must DIE.

    • MoHub

Too- large putty shoes more so.

      • Ginmaru

That’s going to be my rapper name “2 Large Putty Shooz”. Thanks!

    • Grumpy Girl

I’m confused, because in the first picture, it looks like she has on a different pair of black shoes. Then she changed into the too-big putty atrocities?

      • oat327

Took me a second too. Still the putty shoes. They’re just EXACTLY the same color as her skin. You have to look really close to notice that the pointy shape is her foot and the shoe, not just what’s exposed of her foot.

  • Jennifer Bober

I’m not sure that the pattern in the fabric is strong enough to carry such bland accessories. It’s pretty enough, but could have used something. Face looks great though.

  • bringbackbeatles

Really cute dress, but again silly putty shoes have got to go. And, if you insist on wearing the silly putty shoes, at least get the right size. All these oversize shoes lately look like little girls playing dress up.

    • Candigirl1968

And you know they all have ten pairs of those bland putty shoes in their closet, so there’s really no excuse.

  • Sobaika

She is too good to look this boring.

    • decormaven

      Truly. This is a yawnfest.

  • @Biting Panda

I don’t understand the pattern free patch on the skirt. I am confused as to why she would wear those shoes. I am struggling to comprehend why she is on every red carpet ever covered.

    • scoobynacks

Now that you’ve mentioned the patch, that’s all I can see. That and the overly large shoes.

  • SewingSiren

She’s cute. The shoes are too big. The bag is precious. Kind of looks like a bar of homemade soap.

  • BobStPaul

Pretty dress. Bad choices on the clutch and shoes which work to bring down the outfit as a whole.

  • NBG

Cute dress crying out for bolder accessories. I hope someone burned those shoes after this event.

  • MW

I will forever be astounded by celebrities’ ability to move in way-too-large stilettos.

  • clatie

Dress is great, shoes are lame, clutch looks like a big bar of soap.

  • lunchcoma

Nude and silver DO NOT MATCH.

  • Dan_In_NYC

Love the dress, agree with Kittens, this is an accessories fail.

  • charlotte

There was no need to raid Allison Williams’ closet.

    • kimmeister

  • Darcy H

Nude shoes and nude clutch. Please god tell me this isn’t a trend.

  • carnush

Good lord I am so sick of seeing those shoes. Who decided that flesh toned patent leather was attractive?

  • rissa42210

She looks like those accessories are putting her to sleep. Me too, gerl!

  • enchanted216

Bugs me that she can’t buy shoes that fit. Otherwise, she looks lovely.

  • Imasewsure

Super boring but cute… sort of venue appropriate

  • Fyolette

trying out clothes on the third hour of the shopping spree realness: sweaty face and limp hair and ‘just some heels to try with’ shoes from the corner of the proving booth.

  • nannypoo

I like it except for the enormous ugly shoes.

  • gloriana232

    Bridal shower.

  • minnye

Maybe I’m imagining this out of sympathy, but she looks like she’s trying to keep the pain off her face from those awful shoes.

  • The epitome of Rossum – pretty but dull.

  • Silly putty shoes? Really?? Emmy, you are smarter than that.

  • frannyprof

    Boring, boring, boring.

  • Lori

Burn those shoes. They’re ugly, and even if they weren’t (which, again, they totally are) this dress desperately needed a some edge. I’m not opposed to pretty, but there’s pretty and then there’s kinda dull. This look is on the wrong side of that line.

  • Shoes with color and a ballerina bun, and I’d be on board with this as a classy, understated summer look. The clutch needs to be returned to the center of whatever 1970s bowling-ball she found it in.

  • ktr33

Pretty dress, would wear it in a minute, but like a good and dutiful BK, I hate the shoes.

  • crash1212

I love everything going on here….except those shoes. Seriously…those shoes? Come on. Do better stylists.

  • B_C_J

She is such a lady. This dress expresses her femininity so well. I also love her hair. Pretty woman in a pretty frock.

  • MilaXX

The one time I would have liked a white shoe. Swap that beige shoe and bag for white and this is s great look.

  • Agreed..shoes got to go. The dress is pretty, but the print has a Rorshach-ey vibe going on to me….

  • She’s the prettiest bridesmaid in the whole wedding party!

  • boweryboy

Boring. She couldn’t get more generic than this.

  • DeniseSchipani

Theory: stylists are handing out putty-hued shoes at the last minute just to piss off our Uncles.

  • marlie

The dress is fine, and her hair and makeup are pretty, but it’s all such a snooze. She could have really livened this up with the accessories, but they dropped the ball this time.

  • Dagney

would Emmy’s makeup team please step away from the earth tone eye shadow. like, NOW.

  • Julie Chase

8th grade graduation dress. I covet her hair.

  • Suzanne Moore

    Bland times infinity.

  • KT

  • rhaazz

I like this look on her, and also I like whatever it is she did to her face to fix that perpetually apologetic look her eyebrows/forehead used to have.

  • Mothra

Shoes ARE ALL WRONG. Is that clutch made out of marble? I bet it is heavy.

  • h0n0rb

That print is pure waiting room tissue box.

  • KayEmWhy

    Whatev Zzzzzzz

  • Danielle

  • demidaemon

Super meh. The accessories are actually actively damaging the look.

  • Pretty dress. I really really want that clutch.

  • anotherkate

I quite like her. She always has such a pleasant expression about her. Also, I enjoy that she is almost always impeccably put together (or at least puts a great deal of effort in) but she never reads like she’s “trying hard.” She makes me happy, even if this particular outfit is just Pleasing, not Spectacular. She cares about the details, it seems. Look at those perfect neutral nails. Like, she didn’t have to do that. Clear polish would have been fine, so would pink–but girlfriend grabs a nice beige and it just works. I appreciate her; I could never look so effortless and chic.

  • That last triangle of gray over her ladyparts is so very, very wrong.

  • quiltrx

Pretty dress, pretty girl…but she can do so much better. I’m not sure what the standard for attire was, so this may have been right on..but she usually shines in more elegant/less casual. And those shoes make me weep, I tell ya.

  • livesarah

The shoes… *vomit*. She usually looks really put together but this whole look is a miss.

  • amaranth16

I wish she’d picked more interesting shoes. But I think this dress is gorgeous, and so is that clutch (though I admit it kind of looks like a bar of soap).

  • Fred Vaughn

Sweet and radiant’s kinda her thing, I guess. NurseEllen is soooo right about that triangle at the womanspace – it distracts even more than the shoes, and the shoes are rather the letdown themselves.

  • lilazander

Against some responders, I really lika the clutch. The dress is pretty and I think it also owes the prettiness to Emmy R., because she is so gracious!
