I’ve never watched the show. Her general look kind of bores me but I love this dress — especially if it was on January.

    • schadenfreudelicious

It’s a lot of tweed for me for this time of year…i would love it in a pencil skirt, or sleeveless sheath with a slightly lower neckline…as it is it’s reaffirming my dislike of a bell sleeve…

      • uprightcitizen

I don’t think it’s actually tweed. It drapes too softly (see the model). Instead, it’s a print on a softer material like a silk blend or rayon. That print/color combination just looks like a rehash of something unfortunate from the 80s, where it would have been a tee-shirt, not a high-end dress. And you’re right about the sleeves. They work okay on an choir boy’s robe, but no where else.

        • schadenfreudelicious

Ah yes, you’re right about the fabric!

        • FibonacciSequins

TLo says it’s neoprene, which is an interesting choice.

    • Sobaika

It’s a bit… mature. Overall effect is pretty, though.

    • Katie

      Talk about yoga hair…from yesterday.

      • Kent Roby

After having Bo Derek braids the day before.

    • suzq

She was in London, so I’ll give her a pass on the tweed. I think the wide sleeves and pulled back hair age her incredibly.

    • KateMaryC

Wow. Sorry, N Kid, I think we just learned who really should have played Grace Kelly.

      • FibonacciSequins

        You have a point.

      • Carleenml

        oh, good call!

      • Beardslee

And I think it’s in part because of how she poses. She looks very elegant and ladylike.

    • Peri7473

i am surprised that i actually like this dress. But i wonder if that is in no small part due to her hand on hip, to show the shape of the sleeve. It would be a pain to have to stay that way all day!

    • http://www.beautifymylifeblog.com Jessica

That hair is a travesty. It’s a lot of fabric up top, but overall very pretty on her.

    • Danielle

      Serving Grace Kelly realness!

      • Anna

Agree with you on the face and overall poise, but Grace would’ve never left the palace with hair like that.

    • elemspbee

stunning. love the neckline up top and the sleeves. face a bit too pink.

      • decormaven

Yes, the pink practically twinkles here.

    • cwade1211

I don’t think wide sleeves like this look good on anyone in any type of garment. They are widening to the figure. Why would anyone want that?

      • FibonacciSequins

I rarely like wide sleeves, but in this case they give the effect of a cape, which I do like.

    • http://bedmadeofflowers.tumblr.com/ Mama_Z

A dress that could’ve been sexy with a different neckline and zero sleeves.

    • FibonacciSequins

That looks like a tweed print on a lighter fabric, silk or something. I don’t like the color combo (reminds me of Necco wafers, which I hate), everything else is on point. Nice tailoring.

    • sugarkane105

I miss her. I wish Revenge hadn’t gone to shit.

      • anneshirley

It’s so, so bad, isn’t it? I finally gave up about midway through season 3. Should have done it earlier.

        • Inspector_Gidget

Yeah I finally gave up as well. Tried so hard to stick with it but… they’ve lost the plot.

      • sundaynightaddict

The last half of this season was surprisingly fun again!

      • NinaBoo

I didn’t have the chance to catch the season finale before someone spilled the ending. I was SO RELIEVED when I heard what happened…made it easy peasy for me to take it off my Hulu subscriptions. Still don’t regret hearing the spoiler.

    • alyce1213

The more I look at this, the more I like it (I didn’t at first glance). The silhouette is gorgeous, very mid-century.
I’m intrigued by the fabric — is it tweed print on silk? Is the tweed woven? I can’t tell.
Two quibbles: yoga hair and satin shoes (I think she should have gone with black patent, even though it’s matchy-matchy to the belt).

      • FibonacciSequins

I just posted that it looks like a tweed print on silk to me.

        • alyce1213

          Yep, just saw that.

        • http://www.tomandlorenzo.com/ Tom and Lorenzo

          Correct. It’s tweed print neoprene : )

          • http://foodycat.blogspot.co.uk/ Alicia

Wow – that changes my opinion completely. I went from “nice dress, boring shoes, pity about the hair” to “OH GOD NO”. Tweed-print neoprene might make a very nifty triathlon uniform, but not a dress.

            • smayper

Now imagining Patrick Stewart and Sir Ian in a buddy comedy, wearing matching hot pink neoprene tweed outfits as they destroy the competition in an Iron Man triathlon.

            • http://foodycat.blogspot.co.uk/ Alicia

One in a pink bowler hat, the other in grey. Spectacular!

            • smayper

YES! A Kitten must write it.

          • majorbedhead

Tweed print neoprene. I’m trying to wrap my head around that and failing utterly.

            • Alyssa

Pretty sure that’s because it’s something that shouldn’t exist.

            • Carleenml

the print looks to me like something you’d see on an Igloo, soft-sided lunch cooler. And I’m pretty sure they could make those out of tweed-print-neoprene.

            • Alyssa

True, and it would make an awesome wetsuit. But not a dress.

          • Grumpy Girl

And suddenly sports hair makes sense with the outfit. . . .

    • Amílcar Castaneda

      Well, hello Emily Thorne!

    • Lily

      Lady girl does this well.

    • Miss wks

      She looks fuckin’ fabulous!

      (except for the hair)

    • Twigg

I like the dress but the print reminds me of those giant plastic-y bags I see at flea markets.

    • anneshirley

I like the sleeves, fit, and tailoring, but I’ve never been a fan of a fitted funnel neck. And her hair is almost as bad as the most recent season of the show, which I gave up on after really, really trying (Season One was so good, I just kept hoping….).

      • Qitkat

When you find yourself laughing hysterically at the two most recent murders in a show, something has seriously gone off the rails. It has become a parody of a soap opera which was already a parody of a soap opera. I think I kept watching just to see if it could top itself at being bad. I was not disappointed ;-)

    • Mothra

Is it a rule now to match the advertising background?

    • nannypoo

I hate the length, the sleeves, the print and the hair. Not much left.

    • marlie

Very cute. The tweed is a little wintery, but it’s still a very pretty outfit.

    • http://phantomminuet.blogspot.com/ MinAgain

I like this dress–because I once owned one just like it–but it’s too mature for her. And what is up with her hair?

    • Imasewsure

At first glance this was an “oh no not for you” look but it’s ok… not loving the print but I do like the Lana Turner-ness of the overall look I think

    • http://facebook.com/ Graciela Noelia Noblega

      No vi este espectáculo.

    • Chuck Barthelme

I actually have a crush on her even though mostly her clothing choices are lackluster. But what I noticed first about this picture was the awesome outfit on the dude to the left in the shot. Orange pants, and a white piped navy blazer. YES! His white shirt and possibly black tie aren’t as good, but the pants and the blazer rock.

      • Beardslee

Yeah, I noticed him too! And nice shoes.

    • boweryboy

When a guy in orange pants upstages your look, something is wrong.

    • Lex

I hate the length and think it ages her terribly. It’d be a great dress for Julia Louis Dreyfus or Megan Mullally though

    • kimmeister

Looks better than the model, but then again, the poor model was stuck into horrific shoes that bag around her ankles. What the heck?

    • Serena

She can do better. I’m not so crazy about the color but I feel the sleeves are what makes the look blah-worthy.

    • TinyDynamo

      Booooooooooring.

    • MilaXX

      yawn

    • ashtangajunkie

      Girl, those aren’t your sleeves.

    • Coralie Legister

Looks like she slept in that hair do, woke up, showered, then let it air dry in the ride over.

    • PastryGoddess

I don’t care what fabric this is, but it looks like tweed. And tweed when it’s hella hot outside is stupid.

Rendered in another pattern, this might have been something worth talking about

    • Deedles

I always get a young Shirley Jones vibe from her. If they ever want to reboot “The Partridge Family,” she gets the pixie wig and should be Mrs. Partridge.

    • HeisenbergHattie

      Very 50’s.

    • conniemd

I got very excited reading Monique Lhuillier and Emily Van Camp together because she always looks so awful and Monique Lhuillier really knows how to make women look good.

    • unbornfawn

The neckline and sleeves take an otherwise nice dress to dowdyville.

    • http://brianfortedesigns.com/ BForte

Underwhelmed at first, but the two photos in the middle converted me to a believer. Maybe the dress just works better with your hip cocked to the side?

    • teensmom99

I am going to cancel my summer vacation plans; clearly summer is long past and the mistakeis mine to think it is early June. Otherwise, I really like this dress. It’s sort of early Barbie and that always works for me.

    • http://www.ellenciompi.com/ NurseEllen

Tweed print neoprene? So, you can exercise in it and just go to your red carpet event without changing? Wow.
I do love the silhouette but the whole idea of neoprene is making me “glow” (you kinow we Southern ladies don’t sweat).
Finally, the shoes on the model are darling but I have no idea how she actually walked. They seriously look about 3 sizes too large.

      • boweryboy

It’s from the fall collection, so it would make more sense to me if she actually wore it in fall not summer.

        • demidaemon

That’s asking a lot of those who live in perpetual Delusionland.

    • EEKstl

Good silhouette for her, and the shoes work. The underdone eye and yoga class hair are my biggest issues here.

    • Constant Reader

Am I the only one seeing Bitchy Store Manager At Nordstrom? (I refer to the outfit, not the person. I’m sure Emily is lovely.) Maybe i’m just in a bad mood today.

      • Dagney

That’s pretty spot on! I was thinking sassy sister wife.

    • http://armchairauthor.wordpress.com/ LesYeuxHiboux

Not really her proportions on the sleeves, or her colors, but the rest is a good instinct. She has the neck for high-necked garments, and this would be full-on fabulous in more saturated tones or chic if the print were white-on-white textural. A bit heavy and dark for summer, as it is.

    • poggi

It’s like it, maybe not for summer. But it seems like a modern Nora Charles (except the hair would be better).

    • Bad Idea Jeans

I do not think she is pulling this off, but a pro-level clothes wearer like Cate Blanchett might be able to.

    • ChelseaNH

I don’t like the collar. I think this would work better as a skirt and jacket.

    • smayper

For a moment I saw the G and the R behind her as kicky hot pink plastic earrings.

    • Andrea Lentz

LOVE the dress. Think it would have looked a little better if she wore her hair down.

    • Trickytrisha

Possibly the worst celebrity hair of the year.. heck, the decade.

    • quiltrx

Well, I *want* to like it, but I just can’t quite get there.

    • Mr. J.

She’s young, and this dress looks so OLD–the sleeves, the length…she looks like some old, expensive Oscar winner….and she needs a new hairdo. This one is not good.

    • demidaemon

It’s cute enough, but, damn, she must be melting.

    • ktr33

The sleeves seem strictly-runway. Make it sleeveless, and you’ve got a perfectly adequate Tippi Hedren thing going on.

    • Amel

Hair is hideous — looks like mine on my worst day, and I don’t have a hairstylist in my employ. I also very unexpectedly do not like that shade of pink for her. It’s too cutesy and her look is already too cutesy — I think she needs a little edge to make the cute not reach vomit levels.

    • Pterodactyl111

I think I would like this a lot better if it had a scooped neck.

    • jif

It’s so CZ Guest! Aging, but delightful.

    • amf0001

this looks like what the pr flack wears so as not to outshine the talent – esp with that hair!

    • KinoEye

Too heavy. Too tweed. If she wore this in the fall and knocked that hem up a few inches, I’d love it. Just feels way too heavy for summer, though she is England. Probably more seasonally appropriate there.

Those ear cuffs are so hot right now, apparently.

    • Kikishua

For me, that dress is the opposite of glamour.
