Kind of like this but unsure about the mix of knit and shiny fabric
mmm it just doesn’t look right!!! i think the colour doesnt help the dress either!
That’s one of the things I like most about it! I think it’s more interesting this way, just too bad she had to sit in it and couldn’t get the wrinkles steamed out before the photographs.
I wonder if there’s any way a person can wear that dress AND underwear at the same time.
It’s like a yoga top + fancy dress bottom. (Which makes sense since the collection is inspired by dancers’ clothes).
I feel like she’s wearing too much makeup.
Oh sweetie – go and wash your face.
I get that the solid dress called for some heavier eye makeup, but this looks very “I am 13 and can wear a smokey eye.”
>Black liner on the waterline
>Surprisingly shitty blending
Way too heavy handed, even if she’d toned it down those colours are far too cool for her. Warm purples blended out with dove grey and some silver, and eyebrows filled with a tone that isn’t super ashy.
Agree on the color on the lids. because of the gray and the shiny fabric, seems too much matchy gray and shiny on her face. the makeup in weighing the look down rather than making it lighter like on the model.
She was going for “luminous” and ended up with “rolled her face in shimmer.” Sad.
This would have looked SO much better if she buffed her foundation a bit, and put liner on the lids only, instead of those raccoon eyes.
I was wondering what was bothering me about her head suit, and I think you nailed it.
Whenever blue-eyed gals try for a “smokey eye” they end up looking like they work the daytime shift at a strip club. Way too harsh. Margot is a beautiful girl otherwise.
like it so much more on the model. Looks too tight on MR, like someone has bandaged up her boobs
I can’t even imagine what kind of sticky contraption is wrangling those boobs.
Unfortunately for Margot, I just viewed the photos of Cate Blanchett at this same event.
Cate clearly did not share her horse trailer with Margot.
Galadriel NEVER has to share.
The posing is all wrong but it’s not really a beautiful dress anyway, also I honestly can’t believe she’s supposed to be 23. Is it the make-up?
Ugly and aging. Come on dear, you can do so much better.
She’s more striking as a blonde. There, I said it.
I agree, darker hair weighs her down.
Agree wholeheartedly. That, in combination with the heavy-handed make-up, reallllllly ages her here.
I actually think the dress works, but only because her frame can carry a dress like this. (Although I prefer it looser, like on the model.) But the eye make-up is just too much + the posing. Lady stars should really look to La Blanchett to better understand the subtle art of classy posing.
So. Much. Eyeliner.
Honestly, the very first thing that popped in my head when I looked at the semi close up was “Oh! Are they making ‘Dynasty’ again?”
Too long. Too wrinkled.
I like it, but i would have gone with a matte palette on her face, not a shiny sweaty one.
Between her and Cate, I refuse to believe that any food was actually consumed during this dinner.
I appreciate the idea of a walking-away dress, but I still think the neckline in front is too high – like, strangling high. I also concur about the makeup. It is so much muchness that she is gonna have to bleach her face towel.
Folks cleaned up really well for this event. I like.
Ralph Lauren + Windsor Castle + the future King = no one’s junk hanging out. It certainly does make a nice change.
The fabric just looks cheap to me…less so in the runway picture.
I love the dress, but it does look a bit snug. And her make-up and hair are doing her no favors.
She’s 23 years old, and this is more suitable for a trophy wife who’s recently been discarded for a 23-year-old.
Yes! I looked her up because I’ve never heard of her and literally did a double take when I saw her age.
Meanwhile, THIS 23-year-old recently almost got her driver’s license taken away by an over-zealous bouncer convinced it was a fake. Maybe my answer is more eyeliner. And more shimmer. Always more shimmer.
Wow she’s younger than Emma Watson but looking at the pics from this event you’d never know it.
She’s 23??? I really thought she was near 30.
Leave it to the American to class down the place. (She is American, right?)
T a c k y.
Styling and makeup aside, OMG she’s beautiful.
I … think … I … like … it ..?
I kind of do too although it’s not quite working on her and it also seems sort of off for the venue… not sure why exactly
Too tight around the tush. See Cate Blanchett for smooth, perfect fit.
That’s a lot of shimmah.
The back of this is especially beautiful, but the fabrics seem like poor choices (especially considering the designer?) The top portion is too…sucky, to borrow a word from my late mom. It looks like it would be hot. And the bottom just looks really cheap. That wrinkling at the waist, and the fact that it’s showing every teeny detail for better or worse…ugh. I like it in idea, but not in execution. AND it’s too tight all over.
Good try, but you clearly lost to Galadriel and Bellatrix.
Pretty sure everyone else should have just gone home after those two showed up.
I don’t care how crap I looked next to those two, there’s no way I’d have left that party. Dinner was served in St George’s Hall and Wills circulated being charming and Cumberbatch wore a nice suit. There’s no shame in losing to the best and if I did feel bad I’d just have drowned my sorrows in what I’m sure were nice appetizers and good wine.
I would do the same as Lori. And hope to good that my assigned seating was far, far away from them so as to avoid unnecessary comparisons.
Ah yes, the perfect solution!
Carmen Electra eye makeup.
I like it, and I know (?) that brown is her natural hair color, but I wish she would go back to blond, because all of her looks since hitting the red carpet would look that much better with blond hair. Of course – IJS….
Shiny satin + strangling wrap top are making me twitch, but that event description and backdrop are making me swoon.
it … looks cheap on her.
What does she have in the purse, a steam iron?!
Not sure if it’s the dark hair, the color of the dress or the lighting, but her makeup looks really smudgy and muddy. But that’s a cool, unusual cut for a dress.
Gorgeous dress on the model, but with Margot’s makeup, hair, & matchy-matchy clutch, it looks cheesy as hell. It’s a dress that requires minimalism in hair, accessories, and make-up. She cheapens it up.
It just hit me! She looks like Carmen Electra here!
This is just terrible. Everything looks cheap and we know it surely isn’t.
We’re not going to talk about the DIY-in-the-limo-on-the-way-to-the-event hair arrangement?
she’s a pretty girl, but um…”Harpo…who dis?”
I am fixated on the knickers question. Can’t be good to go without in the shiny skirt!
A tad slutty for a Royal dinner….
The dreaded “over-pose” . Tsk.
I love the idea of this dress. It looks comfy! But shiny wrinkly satin, overdone eye makeup, and the truly ugly bag are bringing the look down.
She looks like Carmen Elektra
THANK YOU, I was just about to say the same thing. That eye makeup does NOT suit the occasion. Also, satin is the worst fabric ever. Wrinkles, awkward draping and the shine adds extra pounds IMHO… All of that just equals to the dress looking really cheap
not liking the fabric..she’s ok tho..
I love this dress but wish the skirt were something other than satin. You’d think designers would understand that ladystars don’t always have a Steamer Minion at their beck and call.
I’ve come to realize that I love Ralph Lauren. Who knew? Beautiful dress. She looks kind of sweaty though.
Whenever I see a backless dress like this, no matter how beautiful, all I can think is that the wearer is saying, “Look, Ma, no bra!”
I LOVE the dress as it just missed looking. A smidge shorter (and unwrinkled) and it would have been a triumph. Not angsting about it, though, as her eye makeup alone ruined the chance to be stunningly elegant.
(Honestly, I’m not sure this is a dress that *could* look unwrinkled for more than a few minutes of upright posing)
This just screams Pageant Girl…dress, hair and makeup.
This is one ugly dress. The bottom half, I’d say, is wretched. I think the dress is awkward.
