I love & covet everything about this (except I’d want the hair to be a skosh less severe, and just a wee touch of color on the lip…ok, I love & covet 98.7% of everything about this).

    • Michael_Jones

Maybe I’m just incredibly forgiving today, but the hair feels severe in the manner of “ballet class hair,” so it almost feels like dressing for the occasion.

      • Emily Dagger

Agreed — I have a skewed view of things because I can’t have an updo WITHOUT wanting my own hair to be slightly less severe, and I tend to read that onto others.

  • marlie

Kristen looks pretty fabulous. Her dress is gorgeous, and it fits her like a glove. I think her makeup looks great, and I actually love the frosted color of the lipstick, but this outfit perhaps called for a bolder color.

    • @Biting Panda

Agreed. I wonder if the lippy looked better in person?

      • Laura Poehlman

I was just thinking that the flashbulb was not that lipstick’s friend…

    • holla

yes everything looks great, but the face need a tiny bit more color either in the lip or the eye. maybe the flash is killing the makeup.

  • mrsdalgliesh

Why is this on the whiteboard? It’s the best she’s ever looked!! It should be at Attagirl or something that would get her to repeat this fabulousness!!

  • @Biting Panda

WERQ! Thank you Baby Jesus, I was beginning to worry that one of my favorite celeb ladies had lost her way.

Does anyone watch House of Lies (Showtime). It’s really, really, good. It’s a good one to watch when you’re looking for something fun.

    • Kiltdntiltd

Amen, BP! And that dress sure gives her Va Va a lotta VOOM. I think she looks smashing top to toe.

      • Laura Poehlman

I really love the body sculpting effect of the embellishment. Not that KB needs it, but that design aspect would work for everywoman!

    • VioletFem

Was someone complaining about the whiteboard posts?

      • @Biting Panda

There have many comments lately that are of the “Why didn’t you do_____? Why isn’t this a ____ post?” Etc.
Most, I’m sure, are not complaints, so much as they are an opening line, a benign opinion, a request to see a certain look worn and seen elsewhere, that sort of thing.

    • lexilexi

My only quibble is the eye liner… not sure that suits her. But WOW! She looks great… and I love H of Lies.

      • JenniferA

Methinks whoever did Anna Kendrick’s make-up for the Met Ball did this too. Very similar look.

      • DebbieLovesShoes

I was just about to post that same thing about the eyeliner.

    • Alicia

Well said! They can’t do all the heavy lifting. And since they frequently mention what a savvy bunch we are, we might as well show it!

      • @Biting Panda

What else are we to do with all this snarky insight? Start our own blog? I think not! ; )

        • JMB_edits

It’s just a chance to “show our own work”! Like a test, they are the teachers and we are proving what we’ve learned! 😉

          • smayper

As a teacher, I LOVE this! “It’s not enough to get the right answer, you must show your work. And if you don’t, Biting Panda will take points off.”

      • decormaven

We’re just doing Paint by Numbers; TLo are the masters.

    • Snoskred

A-Freakin-Men. :) Well said, Biting Panda.

  • Anna

Really digging this, best she’s ever looked to me. Attagirl!

    • Denise Alden

      Same here!

    • kirkyo

I’d give this an Attagirl!, WERQ and a Nailed it!

    • decormaven

And she KNOWS she looks good. That’s the best of all.

  • Joanna

That’s her eye makeup. Love the whole thing!

  • In_Stitches

She isn’t pole dancing for frozen anymore so what’s with the icy lips? Not in love with the eye makeup either which is doing wonky things to her face shape. Hair and dress are flawless though.

  • AlisonHendryx

The lipstick is bad but the dress is amazing, and she seems to know both of those things, from the look on her face.

  • BLauD

She looks AH-mazing! I just wish she’d gone for a bit of color on her lips… as they are now, it reminds me of my first attempts at lip gloss circa sixth grade.

  • Ginger

She looks fabulous with my only quibble being her eyeliner. It’s a bit too thick over the middle of her eye, making it look weird. She can handle the winged eye, I think, but better to have it a bit thinner in the middle than it is here.

  • Sarah

She looks great but I want the dress not to have those creases. Do we think that’s pulling or just because she sat down?

    • Lori

I think it’s a combination of slight pulling (she is tiny, so I really have no idea how that’s even possible unless the dress was made for a gnome) and the fact that she sat down. Plus, looking at the pic of the model I think there may be a little ruching on the sides that’s part of the design.

    • fitzg

Honestly, I think it’s because it’s a skosh too long in the waist, and that’s where the extra fabric is bunching. I don’t think it’s too tight

      • Sarah

Yeah, I wondered if that might be the case. She is wee, after all. I don’t fault a lady for sitting down from time to time, and I do think she looks really good.

      • FibonacciSequins

I think so too, and the beading might make tailoring difficult (or it came with instructions to not do any tailoring). The dress is gorgeous, a slight fit issue is perfectly acceptable to me.

  • Lori

First thought: she looks so pretty. She really nailed it this time. I think I might possibly have some quibbles with aspects of the fit of the dress and that lipstick color wouldn’t have been my choice, but those are minor issues that don’t detract from how good she looks. Attagirl, Kristen!

  • Glam Dixie

I think it’s a smidge tight because it’s pulling and the one on the model doesn’t at all but this is gorgeous on her. Wish her face wasn’t so pale but the hair looks good. Overall, I love this.

  • elemspbee

She looks fabulous in this dress! But the face is a bit flat and stale, looking powdery and cakey. Like many have said, color would have been welcomed here. And I’m not liking the eye contouring.

  • stlellen

I think this is a personal best for her.

  • International Model

That hemline is your biffle, short star.

    • Sarah

      She do look long.

      • DTLAFamilies

Yes, I’m impressed that the dress is making her look taller. Wouldn’t have expected that based on the model shot.

        • demidaemon

I think it’s that and the fit and silhouette of a dress. It’s the most perfect hourglass silhouette I’ve seen in a long time.

  • Alison

The dress is working like gangbusters, but I don’t think that eye makeup quite suits her.

  • MilaXX

It’s pretty but a skoosh to tight and a hair too long.

  • conniemd

I love this. She looks great!

  • Danielle

  • shazziz

Stunning- but it SCREAMED for a Red lip!

  • Synnae

Major Improvement. Would have been a WERQ if she had stronger lip and better hair.

  • strangebride

This isn’t a perfect look, but it is a very clean, pretty and serviceable look. Her eyes are just a hair overdone (I like the cat eye, but less is more) her face is almost too shimmery, but other than that she looks simply lovely in the dress.

  • Mothra

I like everything about this look. yes, it is safe, and classic but I look at goofy Kristen Bell and i see Audrey Hepburn! How did THAT happen!? All she needs is that cigarette holder and a pair oversized black sunglasses

    • Kitten Mittons

I would have died if she’d showed up with a cigarette holder.

I love this, full-stop. She looks amazing, and I want to high-five her.

      • kimmeister

The cigarette holder would have, of course, been holding a pocky instead of a cig.

        • Kitten Mittons

I could substitute chocolate for nicotine, certainly.

  • Julie Chase

Damn. That is all very gorgeous. A stronger lip color would have made this a WERQ for me.

  • asherlev1

This, to me, is the best she’s looked in ages. And I think she knows it.

  • Jacqueline Wessel

Love this dress on her, but it seems to be a little tight and is pulling across the hips. I like her hair and makeup except that eyeliner is a little too bold for the rest of her face. Except for these few quibbles, I think she looks great.

  • Janet B

Beautiful and perfect for the event.

  • random_poster

    Drop-dead gorgeous!

  • MarissaLG

She looks amazing and knows it. Love!

  • Imasewsure

I really liked the dress until I saw the details up close…. not loving now so I guess I’ll just back up a bit until it is pretty again… oh yes, very pretty

  • ashtangajunkie

I’d be shouting WERQ if she had nailed the fit. As it is, it’s a bit tight and I think it needs a bolder lip.

  • semirose

Fantastic! Hah I love the shot next to the model, Bell is so tiny!

    • Qitkat

Sometimes when I see side-by-sides like that, it looks to me that the model has impossibly long limbs, as if those exaggerated sketches done by some fashion designers have actually come to life.

      • boweryboy

Some models seriously do have impossibly long limbs. Donyale Luna (the girl on the right in my avatar) and Veruschka are two models that come to mind who are nothing but limbs and legs.

        • Qitkat

Off to google images. I know of Veruschka, but not Donyale Luna.

        • Qitkat

Wow! DL is stunning. What a sad, cautionary tale.

        • housefulofboys

I just lost myself for a good half hour looking at images of Donyale Luna on google (I had not heard of her before). Mesmerizing. Thanks for that!

  • SugarSnap108

The fit is slightly off, but that’s a nitpick. I LOVE the whole look.

  • deelup

Gorgeous but a bit beauty pageant.

  • julnyes

Like the hairstyle, ADORE the dress, but the make-up is not working for me. Overall she looks great and Gala appropriate.

  • amanda siegelson

LOVE. sexy and classy at the same time. my only quibble is with the cat eye. i don’t like it here (or maybe on her, full-stop – not quite sure).

  • rosie5215

Is frosted beige-y makeup coming back as a thing? I feel like we’ve seen a fair amount of it lately (shudder).

  • GeoDiva

    One of her best!

  • GillianHolroyd

The gown is brilliant but the My Name is Barbra eye makeup looks wonky from certain angles, esp head on. Keep the Barbra updo though.

  • Sunshine16

wow boys, doesn’t this deserve an atta girl?

  • MW

I’m not so sure about the doll-like make up, but the rest looks fantastic.

  • Qitkat

That beading detail really does emphasize and flatter a gal’s curves in all the best possible ways, doesn’t it?

  • anneshirley

WERQ! Love everything about this on her!

  • Anne Elliot

    it makes her look tall

  • Alicia

“Where is my beige iridescent lipstick?”

    • @Biting Panda

      You’re perfect.

  • Lizzy

I really love this, but the white buttons/fabric/whatever it is seems… cheapish…. I love the hair and makeup and think they match the dress and the event nicely.

  • BrianaJC

not on board with the make up AT ALL, but that dress suits her (and fits her) to a T.

  • zuzu

    That is some frosty lipstick.

  • MinAgain

I like everything about this, even the lip color.

  • Snoskred

Not so sure about the Memoirs of a Geisha makeup.. I do not think this is her face! :)

  • numenah

The ’60s hair and make up, not to mention the dress, are WERQing for me and would have been total Be Me’s for my Sally Draper self.

  • KT

I think this dress looks great on her, and I’m digging the hair, too. The makeup looks a little harsh though, and I don’t think she can pull off the winged eyeliner very well. I get what she was going for, but it just doesn’t suit her that well. All I see are her eyes, and then the rest of her face looks really washed out — a little more color on her face, especially her lips, would have really helped. She looks really good otherwise though.

  • Aidan B

She looks fantastic! The only thing I can quibble about is the lipstick, which I wish was a bit bolder, but I unabashedly love this.

  • nannypoo

    Very pretty.

  • EEKstl

Gorgeous dress. She looks fantastic – styling is just right.

  • gloriana232

    Pretty! Fab for the ballet.

  • Frecks

I stan for this girl so hard, it’s really hard for me to objectively appraise her, but damn if this isn’t the best girl has ever looked.

Gorgeous, perfect, flawless &c. Love her!

  • Andrea Lentz

    very classy!

  • Skippymom1

This is the first look I have seen all season that hasn’t been worn by Lupita, that I can say I love head-to-toe. The hair is perfect with the dress without being too severe, didn’t over accessorize and it looks just as fabulous coming as it does going. Definite WERQ

  • formerlyAnon

That back view is stunning. For my tastes, women with near-perfect bone structure in their faces should wear simple, even severe hair with formal wear.

  • FancyPhilly

I love it, what a beautiful dress. I do feel it is unfortunate that the new whiteboard layout has the picture of the wearer right next to the model pic, because Kirsten is rocking this dress but next to the svelte perfected (photoshopped) model she looks okay.

  • Gatto Nero

I don’t like the frosted lipstick, and I’m over the cat-eyeliner trend. But everything else is great.

  • Alyssa

Love her, love the dress, would prefer a darker lipstick.

  • Constant Reader

    She looks fabulous.

  • somebody blonde

Love everything except the lipstick, which is kind of a needle-scratch for me.

  • Salasalu

    Always. (like her though)

  • boweryboy

All I see are those old school candy buttons that came on strips of paper.

  • MissusBee

I’m not sure she’s 100% pulling it off. If not models-only, it’s a goddess dress for the Charlizes and Nicoles of this world. I’d even like to see it on Sofia Vergara, as a more fashiony alternative to the mermaid showgirl looks.

I give her an A- for deployment though.

Sort of GTNYD, but based of effort and style, I wish it were.

  • Lisalady161

A stronger lip and I would rate this a WERQ. She is spectacular in that gown and the proportions work very well for her tiny frame. That’s usually not the case for her. She is elfen and most couture is shaped for women a foot or so taller. Also, the whole look is completely venue appropriate…she looks like a prima ballerina!

  • Victoria Anzalone

    You go, girl.

  • B_C_J

The design of this dress is so flattering & she looks wonderful in it. The only issue as posted by others is the need for a stronger lip.

  • lalahartma

    Atta girl!

  • MyFavoriteColorIsGlitter

  • LesYeuxHiboux

I don’t think the eye makeup suits her at all, though the general color scheme is good, and the dress is a little too long for her in the torso. That said, she clearly feels like a super sexy bombshell, and that’s selling the look as a whole. I wish the hair was a little more dramatic with the dramatic hem, but it looks good and I’m basically a drag queen who lucked into a biological woman’s body. Perhaps I shouldn’t be trusted.

  • madge

she looks like one of ariel’s fabulous sisters. LOVE

  • melanie0866

    WOW. She looks awesome.

  • SusannaGA

Is pale frosted lipstick back from the ’60s? Or is it just a thing she’s doing here? Anyway, she looks fabulous.

  • kimmeister

I like the idea of the contouring elements, but I’m not sure I’m entirely in love with the outcome. I think they would have worked better if they were flat instead of raised/textured.

  • demidaemon

This is okay, but that bodice looks awfully heavy (though I do like the pearl-like detail). All in all, this is a nice bounce back from her Met Gala look.

  • ThaliaMenninger

I think that’s ok on her. Much better than what she usually comes up with, so.. I’m good with it.

  • Pterodactyl111

Give her a better lip color and I’m on board 100%

  • Kate

va va va voom. love it all. I like the hair – it is definitely “bun-head” inspired!

  • ShaoLinKitten

I’m rewatching Veronica Mars in preparation for the movie to come out on Netflix next month. My love for KBell is running high at the moment, but I do think she looks great here.

  • altissima

Gorgeous, like a blonde Audrey Hepburn.

  • Jet City Mama

She has never looked better, and you can tell she knows it.

  • MannahattaMamma

Beautiful. Just lovely. Appropriate & elegant & all good things.

  • jenuwefa

    Va va voom!

  • anonylind

She looks lovely, but kitty cat eyeliner ages her.

  • Frankie Carter

Love the dress, but not on her. A statuesque, sultry brunette would have rocked it (Penelope Cruz? Liv Tyler? Nicole Kidman, even?) She looks like a Southhampton or Connecticut housewife who’s especially smug because she scored fashion-wise in Paris while on holiday. It wowed me on the model. Didn’t on her.

  • Malibufire

  • Vera

Kristen looks lovely, but I’m imagining this on Katie Holmes.

  • mdcoon127

    Love it all…

  • St. Ace

Someone broke their fast at Tiffany’s.

  • JynxTheCat

Aw maybe a personal best for her relegated to the White Board. Next time Bell. Next time.

  • Jacob Bowen

    DAMN. Go Kristen.
