Jane Fonda’s hips don’t lie: she’s WERQing that dress in a way the model simply can’t!

    • http://www.snoskred.org/ Snoskred

This woman is A-FREAKING-MAZING. She is the US Queen of Fantastica. She is your Dame Helen. :)

    • http://www.snoskred.org/ Snoskred

Point of note – Angelina Jolie wore this same dress in a non colour to the Oscars. I love this so much more in the red. :) If we could get Dame Helen to wear a green version and perhaps Lupita in a blue.. we’d have a glorious set of fantastical awesomeness.. Worlds would collide.

      • gabbilevy

Like a box of diva crayons.

        • http://www.snoskred.org/ Snoskred

I so want this box of diva crayons. :)

        • demidaemon

          Or Diva Power Rangers.

          • e jerry powell

Crayons are better. They spread color all around!

            • demidaemon

True. But Diva Power Rangers would save the world with their fabulousness.

            • kmk05

Only if they come with the pre-requisite embroidered robots. Which slot together, of course, to make one Giant Fabulous Robot.

            • demidaemon

But of course. The Divazords combine to make the MegaTildaZord.

            • kmk05

I wish I could upvote this a million times, no joke.

            • demidaemon

              :)

      • VicD

        Red and actually FITTED

    • Courtenay P

      dayum! WERQ!!!

    • sugarkane105

I hope I have the gazongas to wear a dress like that at her age. She looks fab.

      • SugarSnap108

I wish I had those gazongas now.

    • Danielle

      Bowing the fuck down.

    • marlie

Bow down, bitchez. Jane is KILLING it in this dress.

ETA: I love how she’s showing off that she KNOWS she looks hot. Brava.

      • Kitten Mittons

Her face in that third picture, where she’s walking, says exactly that. “I’m still smokin’, eat your friggin hearts out.”

      • Constant Reader

I love that, too! She’s owning her beauty and sexiness, age be damned.

    • Carla_Charlton

      I’ll have what she’s having.

    • Chameleon

She absolutely owns this look, but is it just me or does it seem like these dresses are everywhere and a little over-worn at this point…

      • Frida

        Elie Saab-fatigued for sure…

        • BLauD

          Agreed.

    • bitchybitchybitchy

Now that is serving up the glam on a red carpet!

    • @Biting Panda

      “Blake, darling, pay attention.”

    • Sissy

      VA VA VOOM

    • Lisalady161

Look, Nicole, look! You can do minimal work to your face and still look stunning 30 years from now, too! Ah, Queen Jane.Thou lookest spec-fucking-tacular.

      • FridaStaire

Ah, that work doesn’t look minimal to me! Compare face with hands!

        • MoHub

She’s had a lot but finally decided to let things settle.

        • http://thishotoldbroad.blogspot.com/ Sara Leigh Merrey

I have old hands. My face is much younger than my hands. Always has been. Anyway, she’s had work, but it’s not jarring. Can one have work done on one’s hands? I’d go for that.

    • FibonacciSequins

      *drops mic on red carpet*

    • hughman

She looks fab but I can’t take my eyes from her armpits and thinking “There must be a story here that ended in someone crying”.

      • random_poster

Something wonky is definitely happening there.

        • alyce1213

It may just be an unfortunate convergence of shadow and lining. I hope.

          • hughman

But there also appears to be frantic stitching involved. A young seamstress, an angry gay stylist, words were spoken and tears were shed.

            • alyce1213

Oh, you’re right, I missed the frantic hand stitches.

      • kimmeister

All of the wrinkliness in the illusion netting in the front is causing an upsetting impression that she’s molting.

      • Karen Belgrad

If only she had posed wit her arms down! Instead it looks like she has webbed pitts…. which may or may not be an awesome band name.

        • scoobynacks

How are the Webbed-Pitts? Those kids grow so fast.

      • Fyolette

I honestly think that there’s a very delicate original seam on the very delicate material and it is being pulled by her hand and that’s what we’re seeing. I choose to be believe so, even if the possibility of Elie Saab team craftsmanship allowing that is nearly impossible.

      • formerlyAnon

The chest/shoulder/arm juncture is why I can’t love this. Those armpits were not intended for the full blaze of daylight. And I can’t stand the way the lining under the illusion netting looks pieced together. Had the photos been taken indoors, all might have been copacetic.

    • charlotte

She looks amazing! This is definitely her dress, and yet not in a “that’s a dress for Jane Fonda’s age group” kind of way. The model looks great in it, too.
Perhaps people like Taylor Schilling, who recently went for classy and ended up looking overly mature, should take note.

    • alyce1213

Remember when Angelina wore this is faded greige and we said “Give it to Jane Fonda.” Done. And — improved by color.
I slightly prefer the shape of bodice bling on Angelina’s, but no matter. Jane is serving it. She’s amazing, that’s all there is to it.

      • Kitten Mittons

Someone else noted this, too, and I’m always amazed at the BK abilities to remember a dress we’ve seen previously. Most of them tend to run together in my mind.

        Y’all are pretty, pret-ty, preett-ty impressive.

        • alyce1213

I must admit, there have been side-by-sides on the interwebz in the past day. (But I did remember) :-)

          • Kitten Mittons

Even so, it’s a regular occurrence on here. I’m not any less impressed ;)

            • jackiejormpjomp

I’m dying over your avatar! Fantastic.

            • Kitten Mittons

              MEE-OOOWWW! Thanks :)

    • YourBaloneyDontGotNoSecondName

Mee-Maw ain’t babysitting no damn gran-babies tonight, bitches.

    • Fyolette

Angelina Jolie can go hide in shame.

    • KateShouldBeWorking

      Get it, girl!

    • MilaXX

She’s holding it down for the senior gals. Go Jane, go!

    • B_C_J

Gorgeous, elegant, sexy, confident – she is the total package and a perfect example of aging gracefully with just the necessary tweaks.

    • Teresa Wyatt

      Stunning. She nailed it!

    • kduffin7

My God. This woman is in her 70s and she works this dress at least as well as the model. Stunning.

      • alyce1213

        Better, I think.

    • Tanya Wade

That’s my mom’s hair. But not her dress….

    • throwaneyeonthis

I always bow to Queen Jane but that is a color for a brunette.

      • formerlyAnon

        Or a more honey-toned blond.

    • clatie

nothing like a starving senior citizen with extensive facial surgery and an expensive wig to say FASHION.

      • Imasewsure

Well… that made me laugh… but I wouldn’t call her starving…as to the face and wig… alas that is fashion in Hollywood for this age bracket

        • clatie

as long as I made you laugh, my work here is done. ;-)

      • rei

If she was starving, she wouldn’t look as good as she does, she’s got enough fat on her to keep a figure and keep her face from being gaunt and her facial work isn’t so extensive that it’s frozen her expression or made her unrecognizable.

Compared to some stars in their 40′s she looks healthier and more lively? is that the word I’m looking for?

Many stars seem to go for the 0 body fat and then stretch and Botox their face into oblivion which ages them a lot faster more often than not.

She hasn’t fallen into that trap.

      • TRSTL

Yeah, I so “No” to that assessment. I won’t say she hasn’t had some work done but her face still looks very human, very much the face of a well kept older woman. Crows feet, laugh lines, ect are visible as they should be. Somewhere, Kim Novak is curled up in a ball and sobbing that she didn’t choose this route or surgeon. As to starved, she is not. There is plenty of well toned meat on those bones. And, if it is a wig, it is an exceptionally well done wig. Zoom in on her hairline and the ends and it looks amazingly like wind blown natural hair. I say she looks great and owns her age and who she is.

        • clatie

          you are sweet.

        • SallyBowles

I have to take up for Jane and say that’s definitely not a wig. Admittedly I’m terrible when it comes to spotting them myself, but my daughter worked in a salon where she sometimes gets her hair done for red carpets in NYC. It’s her real hair. (The salon has posted photos online of her in the salon, so I’m not betraying any confidences.)

    • Wink

Oh yeah. I’m glad her hair still looks good, too. Not a ‘helmet head’ like many women her age.

    • EEKstl

This looks so good in red and it fits Jane better than it did Angelina. Don’t love the illusion netting in the back. But from the front Miz Jane is serving up Septuagenarian Goddess Realness.

    • somebody blonde

In the second picture, she’s totally posing in exactly the same way that RuPaul does when she stands next to a guest judge. So fab.

    • titaness25

Goddamn it, I love this broad. She looks amazeballs.

    • demidaemon

Eat it, bitches. This is, most definitely, a WERQ.

    • bluefish

What becomes a legend most? Amazing.

    • livesarah

A bad case of barbie-chest with the bodice sitting lower than on the model. But still better on Jane than Angelina.

    • Mrs. O

She’s lovely, but I honestly think this dress is not flattering for her.

    • e jerry powell

Yes, mother! Mama has it all under control!

    • http://tvblogster.blogspot.com Boop

Lady’s bringing it. She looks terrific.

    • GillianHolroyd

She looks amazing but the dress suffers from too much illusion.

But I do like that the closeup showing the clutch looks like blood dripping down her arms.

    • Eve M. Troutt Powell

      What a gorgeous old pro.

    • AlisonS

She looks wonderful, but because what kind of BK would I be if I didn’t criticize but are these Elle Sabb dresses just not working out well on women of a certain bust? Angie before her, and now Jane look awful droopy. But that could be the dress not the breasts.

    • BLauD

I have to wonder, though, is her arm stuck there? Even while walking it doesn’t leave her hip.

    • http://asskickingadviser.com/ Ass Kicking Adviser

      76 bitches. Not 66…76! Stunning.

    • theotherjdekay

If does not deserve a WERQ, I don’t know wha does. All hail Queen Jane!!

    • Peter Francis

      stunning

    • formerlyAnon

Honestly, I don’t love it in the full glare of daylight and I think the hair is not as flattering a color as it could be. But sincere (presumably) memoirs sharing with us her ongoing struggle to evolve notwithstanding, the girl is going to go out as a motherfucking Grande Dame, isn’t she? The only thing that head-tilt-chin-up-tits-out posture is missing is a bejeweled turban.

    • SophieCollier

Yes, Ma’am! She looks fantastic and she knows it. Strut your sassy self, Jane!

    • rei

      SHE IS 76??????

      Ah-May-ZING!

    • Anna

I have to admit, a much more fierce and appropriate dress on Jane Fonda than Angelina Jolie. Fonda is bringing it better than most starlets!

    • http://www.bertkeeter.com Bert Keeter

Okay STARLET Wannabees…. This is the result of understanding the importance of getting whatever your wearing fit properly! Additionally that’s the best hem I’ve seen on a RC in a long time…

    • ladybane

Jane and my mom are the same age. Jane is eternally fabulous. Don’t get me wrong, she’s not an ingénue, but she’s spectacularly fabulous and Hawt….

    • paintedfish

i just wish it didn’t have so much dress foundation showing around the top

    • quiltrx

The Divine Ms. Fonda cordially invites every last person in Cannes to SUCK IT.

    • Judih1

Like the dress, but the wig is too ….. can’t find the words. But do not like the hair

      • Truthiness2U

I don’t think that’s a wig. That looks like her real hair. In maybe a questionable shape?

    • Fuchsiaforever

      Barba-fucking-rella!!!

    • Joey Melliza

did she borrow this from Angelina? … Octogenarian Fierceness…. is that a hold near the arm pit?

    • MartyBellerMask

      Dayum.

    • Truthiness2U

Serving it! I loved loved LOVED the Elie Saab collection this dress is from, and was sad when Angelina chose to wear that somewhat colourless dress to wear to the Oscars, rather than the red dress Jane is wearing here, or the amazing green and blue dresses.

Glad Jane is showing the world how great those dresses were…and has attitude to match this dress’s prettiness, for days. Great colour on her. It’s fitted like a dream to her, and you can tell she knows she’s selling it, and selling it well.

    • http://foodycat.blogspot.co.uk/ Alicia

It’s kind of an “Of course” – but she’s still werqing it!

    • ljh

Ms. Fonda cordially invites all starlets attending her little Festival of Film to line up for the Welcome Banquet, where she encourages them to Eat Shit and Die.

    • velomango

My dad was a Vietnam vet, so she remains a difficult figure in my life and it’s hard to like her…but I must say, the woman is rocking this gown.

    • Terri Terri

She looks like a Barbie to me. Odd.

    • carnush

      Stunning. Bowing down.

    • Tuneful54

She looks great, my only quibbles are that this seems more like a fall-winter dress and I find a matte-deep-red lip somewhat aging. Otherwise, as a fellow AARP hottie , she inspires me because of internal beauty, not just external.

    • Patrick Cleary

Is it wrong to say how much I love the wrinkles around her eyes? You see so many women’s unwrinkled faces on the runway, and she just looks like she’s laughed and lived a good life.

    • SylviaFowler

This is and should be a WERQ.

    • BrooklynBomber

      Damn.

    • Jessie Melcher Brown

She looks great but the lining on the dress looks bunchy up under her arms.

    • boweryboy

Get it, girl! Hate the hair.

    • Mary Lauer

I love that she looks like this, but I am also kinda offended that she needs to sell SEXY in her posing. Isn’t she past having to SELL herself by now?! I mean, I am not saying she isn’t sexy, but something about the kittenish half turn with the hand on the hip from her is just too much for me..

    • Bonnie Blue

I think she looks fabulous, full of confidence and a little bit of sass in that shot looking over her shoulder.

    • mjude

      love her.

    • Coco Cornejo

Now that’s how you do classic Hollywood glamour in the 21st century.

I can just hear Jane telling Nicole, the colorless, “I knew Princess Grace. I might even say Princess Grace was a friend of mine. Sweetie, you are no Princess Grace.”

    • Clydette Wantland

      Pro Red Carpet Bitch! WERQ.

    • kategs

She doesn’t need to sell herself like this. The posing is too much of a much. That said, she looks stunning.

    • suzq

Oh good God….it’s just Jane’s world and we’re living in it, isn’t it? She’s shutting it down. Wow.

    • Mr. J.

I find it somehow touching: she’s an old pro who was trained by old studio pros who are long gone….You show up, you give it, because people are expecting it…..

    • JaCory Deon

She looks amazing and she knows it. My god can someone please give her a role worthy of her talents and beauty!

    • BayTampaBay

      SHE LOOKS ABSOLUTELY STUNNING!

      • throwaneyeonthis

        Sent from my iPad

    • traceyishere

Is the seam splitting under the arm?

    • dschubba

Conspicuous lining aside, the game has been officially declared dead.

    • Sunraya

      Somewhere, Angelina is weeping.

    • KT

      WORK, BITCH

    • JynxTheCat

She looks damn good for any age – she looks UNBELIEVABLE at her age – no matter what magic is being worked. Results are results.

    • AnneElliot

Now, that is what I call aging gracefully. Damn.

    • possibilityexists

      77 years old! Magnificent!

    • Jill Stacey

This is nit-pickety but It bugs me that she clearly has the arms of a 20 year old but the dress is pulling around the armpit in way that’s just disgraceful. She deserves a dress that flaunts her magnificence.

    • deech_sea

It looks like there’s a hole in the armpit seam, and I wish she didn’t feel it necessary to pose her arm in that way.
