  • Looks great, except for the sheerness.

    • smayper

My thought exactly. I do indeed see London, but I need not see France OR your undergarments in this shot.

    • JP

Yep, I’m so over that sheer trend. It make beautiful dresses into skating costumes (but with longer skirts).

      • bitchybitchybitchy

I would like this much better if it were lined. I too am very over the sheer trend.

    • DesertDweller79

I looked at the photos and my first thought was, “Oh, why does it have to be sheer?” Groan. I am so over this. It makes an otherwise beautiful dress look cheap.

  • BrianaJC

boring and done before. color is good on her, though.

    • VicD

Sorry, did you say something? I just dozed off……….so. boring.

  • Anna

Dress is a vast improvement from the last outing(s). Can’t sign off on the bump-it hair though.

  • LeelaST

Gown is pretty but the see-through to the bathing suit underneath is less than sophisticated. Also – mini bump-it hair and that flat center part – no.

    • 3boysful

Love the fabric, but seeing that much leg is tacky.

    • holla

if there was less sheer and a low chignon, she would be so polished.

  • Kitten Mittons

Blue is a great color for her. All the styling choices are a little subdued for my tastes, but she should wear more dark colors like this. Lovely.

  • Guest

I hate that pose. Too Wonder Woman.

    • Ginmaru

Ohhh, I would have loved to see her bullet deflecting bracelets with this dress.

  • TrixieConQueso

DREAMY. Even The Wind blew her hair at the right time!

  • The Versatile Chef

Didn’t someone else wear this on the RC recently?

    • demidaemon

Well, Darienne Lake wore a similar dress in the last episode of RPDR.

    • misstressofsylar

All Elie Saab gowns look the same.

  • boweryboy

So, granny panties under sheer dresses is still a thing?

    • Julie Ree

I was going to say the same thing- it is just so tacky. A lined skirt would be so much more chic with the beautiful beading.

    • Danielle

      Much to my eternal chagrin.

    • demidaemon

Unfortunately. Although there is no reason this one could not have been lined. In fact, it would have been a better dress with said lining.

  • barbarienne

Still with the aging makeup and hair, but much less so than that last get-up.

I like this dress. Nothing particularly unique, but it’s appropriate for the venue and she looks good in it. And more to the point, she looks as if she feels good in it! She’s vamping for the cameras, but it feels like she’s having fun.

    • HomeOfficeGirl

Right – it’s mostly a big recovery from the last post, so I’m giving her a lot of credit here.

  • gabbilevy

Better than the sum of its parts.

  • imspinningaround

    It’s not terrible.

  • At least she looks like a grown up. But fergawdsakes get your hands off your hips. There’s more than one way to pose.

  • I saw the headline and said “Oh good, it’s hard to go wrong with Elie Saab couture” and then I scrolled down to the sound of trombones.

  • sienna elm

Mark this day on the calendar Kittens! There’s an Olsen girl wearing something that’s not frumpy!!

Could use a fancy necklace though.

  • Alyssa

How many times have we said this in the past few years…it would be so much better lined!!! And with a necklace.

  • lunchcoma

So ready for the sheer skirt and bodysuit trend to die.

    • Jessica Freeman

here’s my fancy pants! I too, am with you. Is there a petition?

  • deelup

Compared to every other time I’ve seen her, she looks fricking amazing. If she replaced the bridesmaid shoes and craft night earrings it’d be an attagirl from me.

    • kimmeister

Way too matchy of shoes, for sure.

  • Glam Dixie

Judging by the folks in the background, girl is freezing. This had the potential to be a beautiful dress but the granny panty, sheer skirt combo took all of the sophistication out of it and took it right to Tackistan.

    • Alyssa

      Tackistan…love it!

  • Chuck Barthelme

Not bad, actually. She’s even young enough that I think the see-throughness is okay on her. Definitely better than the bore the last outing was.

  • Fuchsiaforever

    • demidaemon

Me too. This make me want to take a nap.

  • FeminineLipstique

It’s a pretty gown, but I feel that it would work better at nighttime.

  • BlairBear

hmm no. the dress would be pretty if it weren’t sheer. and the racing stripe illusion on her legs is really bothering me. It looks like she is wearing track pants under her formal wear.

  • Jessica Freeman

Scroll down needle scratch. The sheer killed it for me.

  • padma sallah

I think this is the most movie-star she has ever looked. Of course I wish the hair and make-up were better but on the whole, not bad at all. Also any Bollywood buffs here who think she looks like a younger Rani Mukherjee? Because in a few pics, the likeness is startling.

  • PastryGoddess

Why is that dress so SHORT? Did she suddenly grow to be 7ft tall?

The sheer is slightly tacky for the afternoon, but it’s not the end of the world

    • CT14

The sheer made me wonder how old she is.

I think she’s old enough, but in my mind she’s the baby Olsen sister, so she shouldn’t be.

At any rate, a dress shouldn’t distract the mind in that way.

  • MilaXX

    meh. She is boring.

  • marlie

I love this, though I wish that the skirt were lined. But at least it’s not quite as obvious as usual. Elie Saab isn’t going to win any awards for originality, but he makes really lovely, detailed gowns, and sometimes that’s all you need.

  • This dress is so beautiful I almost do not mind the sheer skirt. It would be a WERQ for me, if it were lined. 🙂

  • Danielle

BEcause if ever there was a reason to wear Elie Saab couture, a Godzilla premiere is it.

  • I actually like the sheer quality on this one. Otherwise, it would be a fairly pedestrian dress. And I really like the fact that she pulled her hair back behind her shoulders.

  • Synnae

I wish she had worn this to the MET instead. I don’t even mind the sheer, it is not very obvious.

  • A lot lof beading with sheer thrown in. BORING! HUNEY… stop posing like that and relax…looks stupid!

  • Tracy_Flick

That color is so pretty on her that I’m willing to forgive the other sins. I’m grading on a curve with her sisters, who always look dumpy and never smile.

  • KayEmWhy

  • MM4321

Take. The. Hands. Off. The. Hips. It’s a stupid pose and it does not flatter you.

  • ashtangajunkie

What makeup artist insists on aging this young gal 10 years every time she hits a red carpet?

  • jjfg

    Two words: Grannie panties.

  • MarissaLG

This is really beautiful. That said, I would have done the hair differently (maybe a fishtail side braid or chignon) and been a little bolder with the jewelry.

  • d4divine

  • Violentcello

Her makeup looks nice. I hope she’s learned not to play with super glue before posing on the red carpet anymore.

  • demidaemon

Amazing how an exquisitely beaded dress like this one can look so dull. Darieenne Lake could have worn it better. This needed a necklace, better styled hair, and much stronger make-up.

  • Kathie

I so wish that was not a sheer skirt. Other than that I’ll give her an “Atta girl”

  • Fräulein K.

I would be on board with the sheer skirt if the hair wasn’t so lackluster.

  • BLauD

Sheer skirts will never look like anything but fancy nightgowns to me.

  • MaggieSays

    I dig it.

  • FancyPhilly

I’m sure these pictures were taken within seconds of each other, but my takeaway from this is that her hands were glued to her hips in a horrible accident.

  • Wow, does she look uncomfortable. Her smile is saying “MAKE IT STOP!”

  • ThaliaMenninger

What is it with the Olsen ladies that they look whiny and spoilt even when they’re not saying anything?

  • CommentsByKatie

I like this. It seems like the Olson twins are suddenly playing the game again, instead of hiding in voluminous rags. I actually love the sheerness of the dress. And I like the Wonder Woman pose, especially with the leotard visible underneath. I’m sure it’s not intentional but it’s kind of hilarious. I’m not a fan of strapless on anyone, and I don’t like the hair, but overall it’s a beautiful look.
