He needs a bigger jacket and a tie that’s actually visible.

She looks ok, the dress is fairly chic and simple but I don’t know if I like her hair.

    • imperfectlaura

I love everything about her look except for the hair.

      • paginatrix

I have a spare bag of hair I attach for special occasions, too.

        • VicD

And do you attach it in bag form, as she has done here?

          • Vtg Fashion Library

Makes me think of bag worms, and that is, I’m sure, NOT what she was going for here.

          • paginatrix

Why yes. Yes I do. More elegant that way.

          • mlurve

I’m reminded of Ratatouille, maybe there’s a fabulous little mouse in her hair ball giving her posing tips

      • Trent

Yeah, is it a ponytail or a bun? A bunnytail?

Either way, a little incongruous with this lovely gown.

        • holla

if the bunnytail was smaller I think I might give it a pass.

        • Spicytomato1

The first word that came to my mind was “snood.” Not sure if that’s correct terminology but I can’t seem to shake it.

          • ChaquitaPhilly

            It’s a Hair-Snood! A “SNAIR”?

      • http://sealsonthemove.blogspot.com/ Cecilia

I’m not sure if I should be happy that it’s not in a braid as the hair here is too messy for what it’s meant to be!

      • makeityourself

It reminds me of Julia Roberts’ flotation-device-hair from her Oscar night.

    • Carleenml

It’s a bit boobs-on-parade but I still really like the gown and the jewels.

      • Rhonda Shore

It’s a gorgeous gown, too bad it’s not on Cate Blanchett.

        • demidaemon

That was said about almost every beautiful dress ever.

      • holla

pretty as she is, when does she not have her boobs on parade at RC events?

    • Glam Dixie

Wow, she is glowing. Gorgeous dress, gorgeous jewelry, hair is good, but not my favorite. He looks very nice as well but it was hard to take my eyes off of her to even check.

    • lecoffeeaddict

Her hair ages her here a little bit. But everything else is quite beautiful, including them.

    • @Biting Panda

What the fuck? She is trussed up like a collector’s edition Barbie, and he can’t be bothered to blend his shitty bronzer and shave that ridiculous stubble? See Ryan, *this* is why you’ll never make it an A List move star, you can’t close the deal.

      • Danielle

Makes me think of Mrs Doubtfire. “Your accent is kind of… muddled.” “Oh really? Well, so’s your tan”.

      • Lucía Gavello

That was my first thought, I normally hate boystars sloppiness, but when his lady is glammed up like she’s due for an Oscar -I know, as if!- his stupid beard is downright OFFENSIVE.

        • Trent

Actually, it would be fine if he shaved his neck and it looked like an ACTUAL beard. This way, and for this event, it just looks sloppy.

      • kmk05

Collector’s Edition Movie Star Barbie. Colour me impressed.

      • ewa_pl

He looks so bleh I kind of forgot to look at him and had to go back after reading your comment. Go figure.

      • Kristi Mitchell

SOOO cannot wait for the stubble trend on male stars to be over with. Whatever happened to a nice cleanly shaven man?

    • gabbilevy

She’s on my irrational hate list, so I can’t help but nitpick. The dress is really high-impact and dramatic, but comes down on just this side of gorgeous because I don’t love how the white of the skirt attaches to the black. Her lipstick color is a little overwhelming and her hair is just kind of ugly, but if this were an In-or-Out post, she’d still be in.

      • http://www.dinnerisserved1972.com DinnerIsServed1972

She’s on mine, too. I don’t get her appeal.
        Or his for that matter.

      • VicD

I don’t find that irrational at all.

      • Jenna Marie

At least they actually look like movie stars and always put the effort in. I’m not a fan of either of them, but I can respect this look.

    • Jeremiah Capacillo

Why didn’t she wear this to the Met Gala? Gorgeous.

He looks like a last minute date.

      • ohhoneyhank

        >Boobs Legsly

I don’t think I can ever refer to her as anything else now.

        • Jeremiah Capacillo

Thank the Fug Girls for coining that gem!

    • http://foodycat.blogspot.co.uk/ Alicia

Unexpectedly stunning, but she looks distractingly like Leelee Sobieski. He should have shaved.

    • thesevenendless

I hate to say this but….impressive. And I don’t even like them!

    • Danielle

I HATE that hair, but the dress is a jawdropper. He needs to step back from the bronzer.

    • SylviaFowler

This should have been her Met Ball dress. What the hell?

    • nannypoo

I love the dress. Her hair thing looks like it’s about to fall off. His stubble is gross.

    • Jessica Freeman

Well, I finally like the dress, but that hair and make up is a full on No.

    • Karen Belgrad

      That’s not a bun, it’s a hair tumor.

      • PlethoraofBooks

        Thank you! It looks terrible!

      • Whever

I *so* read this in Obi-Wan’s voice, which only makes it that much better.

      • Danielle

        It’s not a tumah!

        • Imasewsure

Wait I can’t remember what that is from… Arnold?

          • http://foodycat.blogspot.co.uk/ Alicia

            Yes – Kindergarten Cop maybe?

            • Karen Belgrad

              Yes, Kindergarten Cop is right.

    • jspark

Loving the jewelry! I’m not normally a fan of the dripping with diamonds here, but she is selling the shit out of them.

    • Nicholas

Neckbeard, hands in pockets. Was he chewing tobacco, too?

And I see he joined the cadre of balding men who shave their temples to accentuate their baldness. It doesn’t make anyone look better.

    • bizarro

A high impact look lessened by bad hair. A for the dress, add a bow on the back and it looks like a Barbie dress from the 80′s.

    • Sarah

When your bun is looking like it might shape up bigger than your actual head, its time to rethink the ‘do. (Nice dress tho)

    • Denise Rambo

I’d like to see that dress in motion.

    • TAGinMO

She needs to buy this dress in every color. Best I’ve ever seen her look.
He needs to shave, and I think a black tie would have looked more finished.

    • Kimberly Wilcox

Does his hand EVER leave his pocket? Makes the pant look like they don’t fit. I think she looks fabulous, its a really great dress…but he just looks doofy.

    • Coleen

I realized that she does the open mouth thing because when her lips are closed, she looks like she’s sucking a lemon.

    • Emily Dagger

She looks bloody amazing, and him… I would never kick out of bed for eating crackers? But that first picture! They look like… well, if IQ points were pennies, they could club together and still not have enough to eat off the dollar menu.

    • Imasewsure

Gorgeous dress but do not like the hair here at all. That first picture of him is hilarious… not that he ever was a top tiered celeb but he’s got to realize how far his star has fallen lately, right? He’s arm candy for arm candy…

    • deelup

She’s gorgeous. He’s orange. That is all.

      • demidaemon

Yes. So orange that I can barely look at him. He really clashes with his white tie and tuxedo shirt.

    • GillianHolroyd

She looks spectacular. Like a movie star. She’s not, but at this moment she’s passing for one. He looks like a plus one.

    • Lily

Dress is stunning, but these two are so boring it hurts. Meh.

      • VicD

With a star couple, you want some hint of “just did it in the limo.” This is more like “don’t touch me! You’ll muss my hair!” (or get bronzer all over me) It’s very Barbie and scuzzy Ken out on the town, and any parts which may be even vaguely sexual have been left out of the manufacturing specifications.

    • Susan Sontag

Her necklace can’t make up its mind.

    • unbornfawn

Trying very hard to look like movie stars.

    • uprightcitizen

In the career world, they say “dress for the job you want, not for the job you have.” Well, this is the dress of a full-stop movie star, so maybe she got that memo. (Kind of can’t imagine her becoming a real movie star, but it sure as heck doesn’t hurt to look like one.) I kind of agree with everyone about the hair. Perhaps it’s the reason she isn’t carrying a clutch. Her cell phone, lipstick and other crap are all stored in that thing on the back of her neck. Still, if he had shaved, they’d be pretty much perfection. I do kind of miss him being all buffed and pumped up, though.

      • Janet B

They may not be movie stars, but they certainly know how to dress well. Small details are off (hair issues here) but they are beautiful together.

    • Betsy

I don’t know. She looks the best I’ve seen her look in awhile but the both of them always seem D list to me. Neither has the acting chops or charisma to be a movie star.

    • BlairBear

does anyone think this dress would have been more on theme at the met ball ?

    • bhl_1123

I find them incredibly boring and bland, and yet they still manage to really look the part of movie stars. Its confusing…

    • ktr33

Fantastic dress, looks great on her body. I can imagine it on a 50s goddess like Suzy Parker.
Blake’s looking very Ms Gwynethy, which includes looking 15 years older than she is. As for the hair, should’ve done a sleek chignon, not a giant cinnamon bun. Meanwhile, he just recedes into the background, couldn’t be less interesting.

    • Josefina Madariaga Suárez

It pains me to say this, but she nailed it. I would almost believe she’s a movie star.

    • JauntyJohn

This is neither the look nor the time for beard scruff.
At least he’s well tailored, for the most part.

I’m not a fan exactly, but she is positively glowing. Poise, posture, style… an absolute stunning look for her.

      • golden_valley

A million times yes on the scruff. Please someone kill this silly trend. It does no good to dress up in a lovely suit and then go unshaven.

As to her, the dress and jewelery are lovely, but that hair and make up really aged her. I assume they’re going for old style glamor, which they nailed, but she doesn’t have to look old to accomplish that.

    • kimmeister

Well dang if they don’t look like movie stars. The fit on that gown is impeccable, particularly around the bust. I hate her hair tumor, but everything else is flawless.

    • kategs

      she looks stunning!

    • GoAwayKardash

Her hair would look better with a snood. That is not a compliment.

    • Mary Lauer

Stunning gown. AWFUL hair on her. Oh, was there a guy in the photos too? ;-)

    • Anne Elliot

why didn’t she wore that to the met gala?

    • http://www.bertkeeter.com Bert Keeter

Shame that wasn’t worn to the Charles James event at the Met! Only critiscism is the skirt could use a bit more support to maintain it’s shape…. Other than that super! He looks amazing!

    • PeggyOC

      Evita, Evita, Evita!

    • demidaemon

      Enh.

    • Super_Red

Normally not impressed, but she’s playing the part of a movie star beautifully here. Nicely done, pretty people.

    • Little_Olive

Well that is a magnificent gown. So much so that I feel she does not have the serene star quality the dress requires.

Him, I can’t see past the fake tan.

    • Amel

She looks a bit like she’s trying to pull a Charlize Theron. Once that comparison got in my head it couldn’t look as good. But nonetheless it’s a gorgeous dress and look.

    • Yoshio

Her figure is spectacular. This dress really shows it off.

    • KendraMR

Boy, do they look like movies stars (because they sure in the hell ain’t). It could have been a WERQ for her if she didn’t have that gawd awful hair that ages her. He looks good from the neck down because I can’t with that scruffy crap and that stupid look on his face.

    • KT

This is all very pretty, though the boob job is looking pretty obvious here. But as always, props to her for putting in the effort — dress, jewelry, hair AND makeup all look fantastic. Her husband’s face looks like he’s trying to hold in a fart, as it always does, but they look pretty great overall.

    • ScarlettHarlot

This is quite possibly my favorite thing she’s ever worn, but egads that hair must go.

    • decormaven

Can’t stop laughing over the facial expressions in photo number one. The dear uncles definitely had their Snarky Flakes this morning for starting with this engaging portraiture. Love it!

    • SCK1980

Gold star to him for being consistent at looking like a douche

    • TheLaurenJean

Oh. I saw different pictures of this, and it looked like the black part was a very rich, burgundy velvet, and it was lovely, and now that I see it’s just black, I’m very disappointed.

    • LadyVimes

I love. LOVE. that dress. And no slit! Well done, dear! See, you can hold your own in elegance.

He always looks a bit lost, doesn’t he?

Note: I read the caption as “Blake Lively accessorized with Ryan Reynolds” at first, and thought to myself “tsk. girl needs to work on her accessorizing.”

    • B_C_J

The dress is gorgeous as is her posture & makeup. She plays the role of an A-list movie star very well.
He should have shaved or ensured his beard was longer/fuller.

    • kmk05

She’s impressive, but wow does she look older than 26. I guess that’s what ‘old school glamour’ movie star makes you look like, though. It definitely ages her to the ‘perfect’ mid-30s.

    • Constant Reader

I just KNOW Blake has been listening to the Bitter Kittens when we have advised her to stop it with putting all the goods on display all the time and to switch it up with more elegant ensembles. She looks gorgeous, I am in love with the necklace, and I will happily forgive the Evita hair.

On the other hand, Ryan is just Pitting.

    • H2olovngrl

      Shave, you chump!

    • susan6

Blake: Everything from the neck down is flawless. Love the dress and jewelry. But the face and hair….not sure how to fix. Maybe the makeup is too harsh, maybe the hair is too flat?

    • Emily Smith

God I wish she could act or had some sort of actual talent, because does she ever look the part of someone who should be an A-list movie star. Alas.

    • VicD

She’s in full drag queen regalia. I thought it was Biance at first, but Bianca would never have a necklace malfunction. Blake just can’t seem to keep it in place.

    • Truthiness2U

I love it everything about Blake’s look, even the hair bun on steroids…except the remnants of her fake tan. Which had thankfully faded from her first dark red Gucci look a few days ago. But is still there enough to age her. But I think she’s killing it, in good ways.

He should have shaved, and his suit looks kind of rumpled? so that he isn’t showing anywhere near the polish that she has, so he really does look like an afterthought.

    • Phydeaux

That’s not a bun – it’s another head! I’m positive there’s another face under that thing.

      • Amel

        VOLDEMORT!

    • Monabel

Dress is a poor girl’s Charles James. A good thing.

    • alyce1213

I hate big buns and I cannot lie. But the dress is a beauty.
As to Ryan, I don’t get the scruffy look with formal wear — he needs a shave. And better tanner. And to keep his hands out of his pockets.

      • MilaXX

        hah!

    • Crystal

      That hair is tragic.

      FIRE YOUR HAIR GAY.

    • Wattage

I think they are both as dull as dishwater…Love the dress and jewels, but they’d probably be more interesting on a dress form.

    • lamamu

The dress is great, she’s really selling it, etc. BUT she’s dressed like it’s her movie premiere. Like she’s the belle of the ball. I think that’s why it comes across as over-the-top to some. (And to me as well.)

    • Ragnarockette

I love her dress but for some reason it just seems odd on her. I prefer her beachy, boho red carpet looks. This is so regal and chic, it belongs on real Hollywood royalty (Roberts, Berry, Cruz, Blanchett, Winslet, Theron), not some b-list actress.

    • GKaller

the dress is great but whattttt is going on with her head.
as for him. im too distracted by his orange tinge….

    • AlisonHendryx

i am no fan of hers, and i think she looks out of his league in sophistication, and like i said, i don’t actually like her, so that tells you what i think of him. totally meh. blank slates of meh, the both of them. she just happens to have a really pretty dress on.

    • MilaXX

I like this look on her, but it’s a bit Evita Peron looking. He is becoming more boring and bland looking by the minute. His look here is adequate, which I guess is his role when he’s accompanying his wife to event like this.

    • numenah

Everything but the hair. And the tongue-behind-the-teeth half-smile in the first pic, up with which I cannot put.

    • MartyBellerMask

Snoozefest. That might be a teensy bit of envy talking though. Bit of a “BE US” moment, huh?

    • EditKitten

This is the best she’s ever looked.

But I still have an irrational hate.

    • Kirstin McAulay

Ryan, discuss bronzer with your wife’s mua please!!

    • marlie

I hate to say it… it pains me so… but Blake looks pretty stunning. I sort of wish her bun were a little smaller, but really, overall this is a glamorous look. He… looks like a dork. The crappy haircut and scruff aren’t doing it for me.

    • KateMaryC

Sorry, Blake, but Argentina is indeed weeping for you. Stunning dress though, and kudos to your undergarments.

    • http://phantomminuet.blogspot.com/ MinAgain

I like this gown on her as well as anything I’ve ever seen her wear. And you can tell she loves wearing it.

    • abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxqyz

I reckon that was a really lovely dress, and a good fit on her, but no offensive, other than seeing her as a spokeswoman for L’oreal, I personally don’t see the point of her turning up on red carpet especially in a film festival, in some ways I just can’t take her seriously as an actress, let alone the fact that she is only going to have one (ONE!!!) movie out next year, after a series of failure in role castings. I don’t see a marriage to an A-lister, walking redcarpets and breast enlargement can enhance her career to anywhere.

    • abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxqyz

everyone can tell he didn’t really want to be there, it looked just like he was dragged and tooled around by his C-list+ actress wife.

    • conniemd

She looks like Cate Blanchett VERY LITE here. Imagine the magnificent Cate in this lovely dress.

      • Sly

Cate was supposed to wear it, but when she did the Gucci atelier exploded from her gorgeousness that they decided not to go with it.

    • E. D.

Hate the stubble on him. Not sure why, but it makes him look tired.

    • DesertDweller79

Wow, I love the dress and jewelry so much. Hate her hair, though.

    • Kate

why do I see “full diaper”?? he is so handsome with his graying locks…….swoon

    • texashistorian

Why didn’t she wear this at the Met Gala? It would have been much more apropos there.

    • YousmelllikeAnnaWintour

Best she has ever looked. He looks stupid.

    • ChelseaNH

Blake’s really pushing the movie star image.

    • Brittany

Where was that dress for the Met Gala?

    • Shawn EH

      These two. Of course.

    • FridaStaire

Great, gorgeous dress, but something about this look reminds me of when people get their poodles shaved for the summer.

      • FibonacciSequins

        Cannot unsee.

    • mcbishop

What is Blake Lively famous for? Guess I should get on Wiki to find out. Only I don’t care. How is it that she wears these remarkably beautiful clothes, and still looks boring?

    • http://www.flickr.com/photos/divine_aphasia/ Constant Cat

      Waxwork 1 and 2.

    • nowlo

Looks like a ’50s Barbie doll, but in a good way. She’ll never be edgy so she might as well play that classic/girly blonde thing up. He should have shaved.

    • Melissa Mendes

I can’t with the white tie on a white shirt. This is a couple Claire and Hugh and I would make fun of at a party.

    • kittenwithaquip

Is there such a thing as a thigh gusset? Because it looks like Ryan has one. How tiny do his pants have to be for him to need a gusset put in?

    • t bell

Kind of an Evita look that lost the bobby pins.

    • http://armchairauthor.wordpress.com/ LesYeuxHiboux

Blake looks amazing for a woman in her sixties!

    • quiltrx

This would have been a great Met Gala gown! I don’t care for her, but props for wearing something so lovely. The hair, however…a snood made of hair? Very aging.
And does Ryan realize douche-stubble + bronzer = dirty face?

    • MannahattaMamma

she is SMILING with all her teeth and he looks vaguely worried, like someone who is trying to remember if he shut off the iron before he left the house. That said, she is wearing one kickassedly beautiful dress. And a big muffin on the back of her head. And a necklace that costs more than all the money I will ever have in my entire life.

    • Sam Erin

she’s rocking ‘grace’ better than nicole….

    • newidentity

It’s nice that she can dress like a movie star even if she’ll never be one.

    • Melanie

She’s lovely now, but she’s gonna be fierce in her 50s.

    • jwrdwr

I just don’t get his facial hair at all. It looks like bad makeup. We know he’s male – he doesn’t have to grow obvious facial hair to prove it. It’s like starlets showing their boobs. We know you have them. It’s not necessary to display them in each and every situation.

    • anotherkate

Her boobs are exquisite. If she paid for them, well done! If she didn’t, I think she and Mr. Reynolds need to get to procreatin’ so that those genes can be dropped off at the pool. The world needs more bewbs like that! And as for the dress, I think it’s stunning and perfect for her. The hair is not great but her makeup looks good.

    • heartbot

What mall booth did she grab that cheap hair piece from? Are the shades of Cannes to be thus polluted?

    • DuBey2

I love it all. And am Not a fan of either. In fact, I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything she was in. But from this site, I would say this is the best I’ve ever seen her. Glamour! Agree this would’ve been perfect for the met (he even has the required white tie)

    • JynxTheCat

“Please someone rescue me” – Ryan.

    • somebody blonde

I think that’s the best she’s ever looked.

    • Kikishua

To me, he always looks slightly worried.
