Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone in NYC

We’ll give these two crazy kids this:

They sure do know how to look adorably cazh for the cameras. And isn’t it sweet how they share a questionable taste in hats? Meant for each other.

We’ll take everything he’s wearing but the hat and the ratty t shirt. LOVE her jeans.

As much as I adore her, the combination of a coat and sandals will always be ridiculous to me.

      • http://www.youtube.com/user/TheOctocornNetwork International Model

        Please, keep preaching this truth!

      • Anna Vasquez

Okay, I know it’s not the most congruous of looks, but I have to spring to her defense here. Because “Flats Are Cute AND Comfortable” is a dreadful hoax that has been perpetrated on the American people for too long. Flats suck for real, sustained, on concrete, city walking. But you know what can be comfy? Sandals. They allow your feet to be relatively free AND they look better than sneakers. And I generally wear them until the temperature drops below 50 degrees because then it’s either sort-of frumpy commuter shoes or tortuous flats. But 50 degrees is still kind of chilly, so: Coat, With Sandals.

        • Sly

Thank you so much for this. I will not like, I live in Canada, so whenever the temperature is above 60, I pull out all flip flops, sandals, etc. But you’ll still see me wear a sweater, or a windbreaker. So I don’t find this odd at all.

        • Dorothy & Michael n/a

Coats can be removed when the temperature climbs and in the meantime, her toes get to be comfortable. What’s so difficult to understand?!

        • kimmeister

Her sandals, however, appear to offer zero arch support. I don’t know how comfortable they would be.

          • Anna Vasquez

It’s true– I’m not sure how some people can be comfy without arch support (I’m also uh, somewhat weightier than Emma), but it doesn’t seem to bother some people. I do find that the soles of most sandals* of moderate quality are thicker or at least sturdier than the soles of comparably priced closed-toe flats, PLUS my toes don’t get crushed, sweaty, or searingly chafed.

*Not talking ’bout flip-flops here. I can’t deal with those myself except for corner store-and-back trips.

          • DesertDweller79

Since I live in the desert, I wear sandals for about 10-11 months of the year. The vast majority of my sandals are far more comfortable than any of my flats. Most of my sandals have some degree of arch support.

        • Granny panties

Flats hurt my arches, though ballet flats are so pretty. My back likes a sturdy heel as on a doc Martin or cowboy boot.

      • ChiKat67

THANK YOU! That is my biggest fashion pet peeve, which is working my last nerve since I moved to the Bay Area!

        • http://armchairauthor.wordpress.com/ LesYeuxHiboux

Haha, I grew up in the Bay Area and regularly wear heavy flannel/a coat with flip-flops or Birks. Sorry it bugs, but we’d all rather be barefoot!

      • sweetestsith

I’m also in the “it looks silly, BUT” boat… My feet get hot very easily, my upper body is easily chilled. Sweaters with sandals, and sweaters with shorts. I freely admit to committing weird crimes of fashion. ;P

      • marlie

Actually, it’s in this weird in-between weather when I actually disagree with this. I had on jeans and a t-shirt and sandals just the other day, and then when it got a little cooler later in the day, I just threw a jacket on. Her coat looks more like a chunky sweater than an actual winter coat, which is perhaps why this look doesn’t bug me so.

        • ktr33

Me too. It’s just Springtime in NYC. We have a transition period where our winter and spring clothes get all mixed in together. It’s bedlam!

    • http://foodycat.blogspot.co.uk/ Alicia

      Love her jacket!

      • lamamu

        Crave her jacket.

      • Trent

Love his pants! Love to see a straight dude who’s not afraid of color.

    • Capt. Renault

Excellent prop deployment. All hands occupied, to avoid contact with anyone or anything, including each other.

      • sienna elm

They definitely seem much more like friends than lovers.

        • Capt. Renault

He has always set off my gaydar a teeny tiny bit, which is not to say that I know anything or suggest that he’s not what he says he is, but if he were to come out, I wouldn’t be surprised.

          • Wink

He’s British, which sometimes sets off my gaydar.

            • Capt. Renault

              Maybe that’s it.

            • Wink

Hugh Grant, Colin Firth and Daniel Day-Lewis also set off my broken gaydar. (Maybe I should rename it “Brit-dar.”)

            • Scimommy

I once heard a Danish and a British guy (both straight) joke that it’s risky for them to go to bars in the US – they might get beat up for being gay.

            • kimmeister

I think it was an early episode of Veronica Mars when the sharply dressed male math teacher sighed, “I’m not well-dressed because I’m gay, it’s because I’m Asian.”

        • Jacqueline Wessel

I heard that they’re looking for an apartment in nyc.

    • Scimommy

They are like my 6yo: adorable, and they know it.

Do they call the paps when they’re about to go out, or do the paps stalk their building in wait?

      • Sly

        They stalk and wait.

      • marlie

        Their agents/publicists call the paps.

    • hughman

        Return of the Luff

    • Danielle

A coat and sandals? Why not just wear Uggs and shorts?

      • decormaven

        Shhh… Don’t suggest it.

      • raininmai

Otherwise known as the Britney Spears look.

      • Imasewsure

Because that would mean they were in LA of course

      • ktr33

That’s an authentic Springtime in NYC combo, actually.

    • Karen Belgrad

Emma doesn’t seem to mind sandals in New York as much as Bonnie did….

    • crash1212

      LOVE her coat.

    • 25or6to4

The olive green of her (somewhat awkwardly shaped) hat looks fabulous with her coloring.

      • Laura

Do you know where its from?

    • siriuslover

So he reads regular books and she reads e-books. Nice!

    • MilaXX

If she’s wearing a hat and a coat, why the sandals?

      • YousmelllikeAnnaWintour

Maybe she’s getting a pedicure later?

      • Imasewsure

I’m obsessed with sandals (sandals = no work) so I get it…

    • Lori

I’d let him have the T if he lost the hat. I don’t get how her sandals go with the rest of her clothing choices or his. What is the temperature in NYC any way?

    • TM

So cute. If I were them, I’d be beyond tired. Still. So I’ll tentatively forgive the hats.

    • altalinda

You may have her jeans. I want her coat.

    • dmkava

it boggles my mind how anyone can wear sandals in the city…gross…then again I can hardly see her on the subway, or walking any farther than a few blocks in Tribeca or SoHo…

      • ktr33

this is what we do here, last week’s episode of Mad Men notwithstanding. We run around in sandals all summer and get dirty feet. This is how we do.

      • AnaRoW

I could see your point if it were still the days when people threw their waste out the window. It’s not as if there’s dirt and germs blowing around dropping onto everyone’s feet. As long as the bottoms are covered, it’s okay.

        • dmkava

Well, I live right by Chinatown and in the Bowery, so I’m going to have to disagree

    • formerlyAnon

      Her coat. That’s my takeaway.

    • FibonacciSequins

I like her jeans, too. They are pretty cute together in their quirky weirdness. I approve.

    • kt

She is adorable, he almost always looks homeless

    • Kristin

I would wear the sh*t out of Emma’s outfit if they made those jeans in size fat.

As far as I can tell, no one does, though.

    • Valdri8

She is so going to have Bonnie feet. Just sayin’

    • Qitkat

Miss Bonnie Whiteside would like to have a word with Miss Emma Stone.
Aaand, the deafening thud of superfluous commentary.

    • Shawn EH

I like how her green and gray compliments his red and blue.

    • ktr33

Love her jeans and sandals. His cords and sneaks are cute too.

    • KT

She looks super cute; he looks kind of douchey (as usual). I’m into his jacket though. And I’m actually totally fine with her hat, though it seems odd to pair sandals with hat + coat.

    • LadyVimes

Adorable. There. I admitted it. My shriveled heart just turned slightly pink.

    • http://weirdinedgewise.blogspot.com ONEWEIRDWORD

All I can see is that she’s carrying the same light blue encased ipad that I’m viewing this on. So, I love.

    • Jean Beaton Leavitt

What about dirty feet…last weeks Mad Men.

    • http://asskickingadviser.com/ Ass Kicking Adviser

      I love her hat. Love.

      • Laura

Do you know where its from???

    • icm

I kind of love how spiderman has a bit of a tummy roll trying to push through his t-shirt , just like so many of us everyday people.

    • CT14

I finally figured it out: He looks like Dominic Monaghan but tall!

    • demidaemon

They are freaking adorable. And had anyone else seen the Arcade Fire video he stars in? That is some Oscar-level worthy acting there. I was indubitably impressed.

    • Jacob Bowen

I would LOVE to own her cardigan/coat…I have a similar one but I need a new one!

    • Granny panties

I like Emma’s outfit but hate her stretch jeans. Even on a tiny girl like her I would rather see actual denim. Do not like Andrews red jeans but at least they look like 100% cotton ; I notice they are starting to make more and more man jeggings barf barf barf!!

    • krystinamarie

I am seriously loving those jeans!!! I have a similar pair and they’re sadly irreparable at this point.
Anyone have any idea what the label might be?

    • Jocelyn

WHERE are her jeans from? NEED.

    • traceyishere

Too Annie Hall, that jacket has got to GO!

    • bringbackbeatles

I think they are adorable just as they are, hats and all. They look totally meant for each other. I know I’m probably in the minority, but I totally get this and love it! And, yes, those jeans are kick ass and I usually don’t like that wash of denim.

    • Andrea Lentz

She has the best street style!
