YEA or NAY: Anne Hathaway’s Burberry Prorsum Coat

Posted on April 09, 2014

Is this Coat Porn? We know how our kittens go crazy for a fabulous display of outerwear (as we do), but we’re having a difficult time calling this dog blanket of a coat “fabulous.”

Anne Hathaway seen at the “Good Morning America'”show in Times Square, Manhattan in a Burberry Prorsum Coat.

Burberry Prorsum Pre-Fall 2014 Collection

Granted, she’s pretty much unstyled and not made up at the moment, so maybe it’s not fair to judge, but even when we put a thumb over her head to assess the looks, we don’t think this is a great choice for her. Looking at the model, who’s all made up, styled, and likely to be digitally “perfected,” we’re not entirely on board with it. But we suspect this is one of those times when all y’all are going to tell us we’re nuts. So have at it, darlings:

Not her glasses. All she needs is the feather mustache and it’s a Groucho Marx mask.

    • deelup

She must’ve dug up Charles Nelson Reilly to find those things.

      • Alaska Snob

Or stolen them from Terry Richardson.

      • DebbieLovesShoes

    • SummerSquash

It’s coming off very Sally Jesse Raphael to me.

  • Katt Gill-Smith

It looks like a giant 80s Cosby sweater.

    • QHarp

You took the words out of my mouth. I love the pattern, but the neckline and the giant sleeves take it to Huxtabletown.

      • ChristySchiff

Man would I love to live in Huxtabletown.

    • And Anne Hatheway is no LIsa Bonet…

      • Whollyholeyholy

I think that’s the crux of the problem. The model is totally Lisa’d out, but Anne is all tucked in. No bueno.

    • Katie Wolf

And that’s why I love it. My vote is Yea & Yay!

  • Kathleen

As my kids would say… lolNope!

  • rkdgal

Looks too much like Hobby Lobby Fleece, and that’s a big ol’ NYET.

  • Nancer

Yea – love it! Sorry, TLo.

  • OUT. She looks like Anna Wintour’s awkward daughter.

    • eowyn_of_rohan

You mean Miranda Priestly’s awkward daughter? 🙂

      • Little_Olive

Took the words out of my mouth/keyboard. That is a coat to be thrown, not worn.

        • demidaemon

  • YousmelllikeAnnaWintour

NEIGH. Put that blanket back on the horse.

    • DinaSews

LOL. That was my first reaction too. Definitely NO.

    • Danielle

      You win the internet today.

      • YousmelllikeAnnaWintour

Um, does any cash come with that prize?

    • schadenfreudelicious

No need for me to even comment, brava 🙂

    • schadenfreudelicious

      the ole grey mare….

    • Coat porn…for an Alpaca.

  • Kathy

Out. That coat is wearing her.

  • sienna elm

It’s a patterned Snuggie! NAY! It’s way too much coat for her. And that purse is awful with it.

    • Judih1

  • Erm… no. The fug is strong with this one.

  • stubbornthoughts

  • Beardslee

Kudos for trying, Anne. And I like the purse with the coat. Yea.

  • Janet B

    Those aren’t her glasses either.

    • Fisher&SonsFuneralHome

      They’re Terry Richardson’s. Bleecccch!

  • CatherineRhodes

    NAY. Hideous.

  • Karen Belgrad

Remember the scene at the end of BeetleJuice where his head was shrunk?… Out, Nay, Nah.

    • majorbedhead

      Perfect comparison!

  • Stephanie Gustafson

maybe i don’t love it on her, but the styled version with the model is perfection. i’m in love.

  • Kitten Mittons

Nay. I like it on the model, but Anne’s looks too big and bulky, the styling (or lack thereof) is not great, and the pattern doesn’t look as crisp as in the photos. I do like graphic elements on a coat, though. Wish this one had translated better.

She could seriously invite that guy behind her into her coat, with room to spare.

    • Kayceed

Right with you – looks pretty good on the model. On Anne the volume doesn’t look intentional or interesting, it just looks too big.

  • Chickadeep

Probably my ’80s Fashion Soul talking, but I kind of like the coat. The Uncle Terry Normcore specs are hiddy, though.

  • penguinmom

Yea. Love the coat, hate the hair.

  • Pat Pending

My 63 year-old cat-lady great-aunt would think this was coat porn.. and utilitarian, too! She could huddle under it on the couch with her air-popcorn.

    • Jackie4g

Hey, I’m 64 and I wouldn’t wear that thing to take out the garbage.

  • luludexter

Yea. That coat is awesome. I love the modernist style graphics.

  • SneakyKitty

Oh man, I’m torn. I like it, because it looks really cozy and just frumpy enough, you know? But then, well, it does look a little frump. It’s kind of adorable, though, with the hair and the glasses. I’m gonna go with in.

  • Lori

Nay, mostly because it’s way too big. When you’re wearing a coat that’s blanket-adjacent it has to fit correctly or it looks like an overpriced snuggie. Anne needed to go down a size. It looks so much better on the model and that’s fit far more than styling.

    • Judih1

Agree. Now I see why I didn’t like the coat even though I liked the pattern and cut

  • unbornfawn

It’s coat porn on the model. On Anne it is a giant horse blanket. OUT.

  • eowyn_of_rohan

Ugly AND unnecessary. It’s not that cold in Manhattan this morning! NAY.

  • BrianaJC

I really like the coat. Nothing else in that picture is working with it. Bad glasses, bad hair, bad tights, bad shoes, bad bag. Sofia Vergara or Penelope Cruz would work the shit out of this coat.

  • JoDo11

If it was February and she was bundled with mittens and a hat, then I would be on board. In April, not so much.

  • MilaXX

YAY to the coat, NAY to Anne’s look

  • KinoEye

i’m only so-so on the coat, but my eyes played a trick on me in the first photo. The lighting’s not great, and her legs are pressed together while her handler is standing behind her, so it looks like his legs are coming out of the bottom of the coat. I was seriously concerned for a minute — “What on EARTH is wrong with her legs?”

    • Anna

I thought the same! Freaked me out a little, too.

  • latina fey

NAY. also, those glasses? totally terry richardson. UGH.

  • Tanya Wade

I love it with the sweater the model is wearing. Without that visual punch though, it’s too much coat.

  • Joanna

It is neither a yay nor nay. It just is. Like the glasses and hair, though.

  • frannyprof

Yea. I like dog blanket coats. But, then again, I have two dogs, so I have not choice.

  • flamingoNW

Nay. Looks okay on the model. Seems way too big on her

  • I can’t decide which bag I like better: the Burberry bag the model is carrying, or the Chanel bag that Anne is carrying. I can, however, easily decide about the coat: NAY. Give that to some Central Park picnic-ers and let them throw it on the ground and spill food on it.

  • TLJezebel

Back away from the fleece, Anne.

  • ashtangajunkie

I love it on the model, but it’s gone sideways on Anne. Lost all its chic on the journey from model to actress.

  • Those glasses are so douchey. I say NAY on the coat, but I think I’d feel differently if it was quite so voluminous. Love the bag.

    • FrigidDiva

What would make them even more douchey, if that’s even possible, if they were the fashion glasses without the prescription lenses (which I think these possibly are).

  • Shawn EH

Yea, even if she’s doing her crazy fashion editor rather than actress look.

  • Pepper Pan

The coat is gorgeous, but it’s making her head shrink compared to the rest of her body. And the glasses and the hair are doing nothing but make it worst…

  • Jessica Freeman

Nay. It looks like she bought and XXL for ‘comfort’. If it fit better, maybe. Heck no on the glasses.

  • Is this really the same coat? It looks great on the model and based of that pic I want it! But on Anne? It is either way to big or another cut…

  • rissa42210

    Yea! I think it’s pretty fabulous…

  • Mary Lauer

YEA! I would cut a bitch for that coat! 😎

    • Mary Lauer

A big ol’ NO to the glasses tho. Like anyone needs a unibrow?!

  • VicD

In thumbnail, I thought this was the much awaited RPDR post, and that Ben DeLaCreme was pictured, out of drag. I’m not sure that’s what Annie was going for her.

    So that’s a NAY.

I love this coat – for me, not for her. I live in Chicago and could fit some seriously bulky sweaters under here. I don’t think that quite constitutes a movie star pole dance look…

    • LOL Ben DeLaCreme! It’s true!

  • Lex

She is swimming in that coat– shapeless and huge on her. I think a coat like this is screaming for a tall wearer (read: Uma. Tilda.). And I agree with others- the glasses are totally unflattering for her face shape. I blame Mondo for making people think we can all get away with walking around in ugly, absurd eye wear. We can’t, folks– I think Anne has done a great job proving this.

  • Pat Garrett

    love the coat…hate the purse

  • kduffin7

Definite nay. The round neck makes it look even bulkier – on the model, she has folded one half of the neckline into a lapel, which helps. But not a lot.

  • Tricia Rose

Nay. Head to wrinkled tights-toe No!

  • random_poster

NAY. It’s just a big ole’ blanket.

  • DLJoe

It looks like one of those garments that photographs well when it’s styled in a magazine. Otherwise it’s a snuggie.

  • mjude

I like the coat for late fall.

  • Latin Buddy

On the model, it looks great because the coat is open, more contrast (photoshopping) with the grey/black, and it has a model hipster chic look than the broadway vibe Anne gives off.

  • Ramon Figueroa

Carmen Dell’Orefice would make the coat look fabulous.

    • latina fey

to be fair, she could make a paper sack look fabulous.

  • suzq

I like the idea of the coat more than I do the execution. The sleeves are too wide and the body of the coat is too wide.

  • TheLaurenJean

I love the coat, but it definitely needs to be opened like it is on the model. She looks like she’s trying to look lady like with the tights and pumps, and this coat is far more rock and roll lite vibe to it. Send it to Gwen Stefani.

  • traceyishere

The coat the swallowed Anne…we could only hope.

  • Wink

The pattern is awful. Would look better in a solid red or cobalt.

  • Danielle

Call me crazy, but I want to see this coat on Cathy Cambridge. I think she could really pull it off.

  • Jaeda Laurez

NAY. Did she buy it a size too big or something? It looks far more tailored on the model.

  • lunchcoma

Yea. It’s not up to the standard of coat porn, but it’s cute enough.

  • MarissaLG

YEA. There’s something wrong about pairing it with opaque stockings, but I can’t put my finger on it. From the knees up I think she looks chic.

  • Carleenml

    it needs a collar.

  • Austen Jane

Give that coat back to Maya Angelou.

And the glasses back to the old man you stole them from.

  • alyce1213

Bohemian art gallery owner, in her late 70s, lives in a big apartment on the upper west side with her third husband. I’ve seen her before.

  • c8h10n4o2

Is that felt? Ugh. No. And I rarely see a coat that I don’t like.

  • FrigidDiva

Nay. This is a coat that needs to be worn opened and styled so that is has some interest, otherwise it looks like something I’d wear on a bloated day. Also, I’m coveting those minty green shoes that lady in the background is wearing. So springy and fresh!

    • YousmelllikeAnnaWintour

      Those green shoes are adorable.

  • IMNAngryLiberal

I like it, so IN. It isn’t my favorite burberry prorsum coat by any means, but it ain’t bad.

  • AvaLehra

Coat is OK, but the glasses are full on Harry Carey. And I keep reading that as Burberry Possum Coat.

  • Sarah

Out, because that’s not a Springtime Coat. After Lupita, this is just depressing.

  • SophieCollier

It’s okay, gents. It really is an ugly coat. Your instincts are flawless.

  • lamamu

I feel conflicted: LOVE the pattern / HATE the fit. With a better fit, this is a winter WERQ coat. But as is? OUT 🙁

  • Granny drag. Out. That is nobody’s coat.

  • ovarB

  • Christina

nay. and give those glasses back to creepy terry richardson.

  • nannypoo

It’s bulky and unflattering. I also dislike the purse.

  • Ashley Ellen Wilson

  • KateShouldBeWorking

    Out. Her head looks shrunken.

  • Kent Roby

This coat is from Zoolander’s “Derelicte” collection. NO.

  • Ashleigh

It looks absolutely massive – especially compared to the model. Why did she buy the XXXL?

  • Nicole Rico

ugh, is anne hathaway pretending to be a hipster instead of the bore that she is?

  • msdamselfly

The coat is gorgeous and looks great on the model. However it doesnt work with Anne’s handbag and looks better with slacks than with a skirt.

  • MRC210

    It’s a rug, it’s a blanket, it’s … not a coat. NAY.

  • OmegaMu

If I saw that coat in a thrift store, I would buy it SO fast!

  • prisma

I can’t get past those ugly ass glasses to even look at the coat. Nay on principle.

  • YAY. I don’t love it with the tights/shoes, but it’s interesting and stylish. Glasses are FIERCE.

  • elleg929

    NAY – it’s total fug.

  • Daisy77

Nope. Those sleeves are ridiculous and totally unflattering. As is the material–shabby.

  • Scot Meacham Wood

Sorry Uncles . . . I gonna have to say “you’re nuts.” IN my eye – this is kinda spectacular . . . totally LOVE the coat . . . and she looks like she carrying it off quite well. I might be forced to quibble “the black tights” – but, overall it’s a “WIN” from me.

  • Lilithcat

I love it, but it would be better with a slimmer line.

  • BobStPaul

It just doesn’t work for me, so nay.

  • NAY.

All I see is a drab looking blanket. I do, however, like print.

  • caroline

YEA to the coat, but I’m not into the ladylike styling she has going on. I’d prefer some kind of edgy skinny pant underneath it to contrast with the boxiness, as opposed to the tights-and-pumps combo.

  • Nay. Oh no. No no no.

  • JauntyJohn

YEA. She’s unstyled. Girlfriend doesn’t have her contacts in, or her hair finished or whatever — she clearly just threw this on to get from Point A to Point B. As such, I think it’s kind of snappy. Got some character.

  • boweryboy

NAY! That’s something my 75 year imaginary Bubbie would wear. Either that or she’s tapping into her inner Iris Apfel. And what’s up with her hair?

    • Fuchsiaforever

  • icm

I think it’s a great coat, her glasses and hair well thats another story .Did you see her on Fallon ,gurl can sing!!!

  • KayEmWhy

Nay too old looking. The purse is a strange choice. It needs some accessorizing around the neck.

  • Kbear

NAY – on Anne. On the model it looks fine since most of it is shoved behind her body. On Anne – it is an overwhelming blanket.

  • Denise Rambo

I hate Burberry but I like this coat.

  • john_sudeste

YEA, it does look like a shapeless blanket but the cute glasses and purse, and just the whole aura she is giving by the way she is carrying herself seem adorable and lively.

  • quiltrx

DAT PURSE. Love it. But I’m going to have to put, after careful thought, a NAY on the coat. I like the *idea* of it, but that fleece-y/boiled wool-ish stuff kind of ruins what I might like about the patterning. And it’s way too shapeless.

  • DaveUWSNYC

Is Glenn Beck holding her umbrella? 🙂

  • colleenjanel

Nay on the coat, but I love that she is so comfortable wearing nerdy glasses on TV!!

  • majorbedhead

Nope. Nope nope nope. It’s way too much coat for her and it’s ugly to boot. Plus those tights with those shoes are making me twitch.

  • Fannie Wolston

She’s in heels, a ginourmous ladystar coat and holding the queen Mum’s handbag, and she gets a pass for being unstyled? Give the coat to Shailene she will rock it!

  • oat327

Where is she that it’s that cold?

It looks like a blanket because it’s closed and it’s too baggy on her. If it was fitted and opened, like the model, I’d like it. But she clearly just threw this on to run out somewhere–it looks fine by those standards.

  • Kaytee

Nay – looks too much like a blanket you would find at a Poconos winter cabin.

  • marlie

    Tepid ‘yea.’

It’s ok, but I don’t love it. The tights, shoes and purse makes it seem a little too matronly. If she were styled a bit more like the model, I still wouldn’t have loved the coat, but I think I would have been happier with the overall look.

But Annie looks adorable in her glasses, and that’s a cute short hair hairstyle.

  • Fuchsiaforever

NAY. Send everything (glasses, coat, bag) to Iris Apfel.

  • unpious

It’s probably comfy as hell, but style-wise? Nooooooooooooope.

  • Tiffany Birch

Um, no. She looks like she’s being eaten alive by that thing.

  • Aidan B

NAY. Burberry has crushed my soul with this collection of animal blankets they market as coats.

  • Jangle57

Maybe if it wasn’t 5 sizes too big for her cause I kind of like it on the model but it’s just too much coat on her – NAY

  • B_C_J

Nay – The model’s coat is much more tailored . Anne’s coat is swallowing her up.

  • Garcia Loca

Nay. I’m no crazed fan of Annie’s, but even I think she’s too good for bag lady couture.

  • Alexis Wenceslao

    Guys, It’s a WERQ

  • Jen

She is at the very top of my irrational hate list. So, so out.

  • Qitkat

The graphics are beautiful, but it’s so voluminous she could be smuggling all the My Little Ponys ever made under that thing.

  • vickilu

    YEA indeed! I love it.

  • Lisa M. (ReVoir) Kramp

I love the coat but I’m not sure if humans can wear it, so I’m saying nay.

  • another_laura

I’m gonna give this coat a Nay. Maybe in black/white, but this grey is dull and it’s making me sad.

  • teensmom99

IN IN. I love it. Part of coat porn is the fantasy that I’d have so many coats that I could wear a crazy pattern one day and not be stuck with it all winter. Did I say that I love it?

  • beebee10

  • melanie0866

It’s the glasses I have the problem with. Is she a male middle-school teacher in 1978? If not, those are not the right glasses.

    • Imasewsure

Those kind of read Geriatric Uncle Milty to me as well… but a real Mr. Kotter thing going for sure

  • 25or6to4

YEA, but it would look so much better if she wore it open. Something about that flap of (admittedly gorgeous and luxe) fabric at her neck is nagging me. Still total coat porn for me!

  • LeelaST

Fabulous on the model. Looks 3 sizes too large on Ann.

  • decormaven

Coat would be great if correctly sized and properly accessorized. Since these elements aren’t in place – OUT.

  • formerlyAnon

    YEA. A thousand times YEA.
She’s juuuust barely tall enough to pull this off, which puts her more than a tad taller than me. So, it may be wistful pining that I can not ever wear a bold, patterned, high impact coat without looking ridiculous at work here rather than reasoned judgement.

The glasses are not the best choice, otherwise, I’m in love.

  • oohsparkley!

Nay. It doesn’t even look like the same coat as the model’s. It’s so big and boxy.

  • DB Ruberto

    Give SWINTON her coat back….

  • kimmeister

NAY, because Snuggies should not be worn outdoors.

  • stellamaris73

Love the coat, but hate the Uncle Terry glasses.

  • BlairBear

I think if it were more fitted and open with a great outfit underneath it would be an in. It would also be an in in January’s polar vortex because that sucker looks warm

  • Megan Kennedy

Nay nay nay. Send this to Andre Leon Talley, who just /might/ be the only person who can make it majestic.

    • demidaemon

Hmm, that is the perfect client for this coat.

  • MyFavoriteColorIsGlitter

    Hell no. That is fugly.

  • Bethany Roullett

    Nay. Dog blanket.

  • Nazzzy

    Major fug!

  • MaggieMae

Tough call. It’s veering dangerously close to the eccentric aunt who lives out in Colorado and when she dresses, she won’t let anyone forget her attachment to the Rockies. No matter the occasion. Hissing at the hair and glasses, which are not helping. NAY

  • carnush

    Lovely coat, horrible glasses!

  • Imasewsure

I say yea to the coat and the bag but not to the way it is being shown on the model or our dear Annie… still think it could work on someone edgier

  • MMR

  • Vee

I think if the coat were more fitted and she trashed those Mr. Magoo glasses it would work. She reminds me of that creepy Six Flags commercial with the dancing “old man”.

  • YoungSally

There’s oversized and then just too big. This one is too big. And the glasses don’t work with it at all.

  • Sophie

What is she doing with her hair? And her glasses? I like the volume of the coat, but not the fabric and the print.

    • MilaXX

Looks like she’s growing it out. I can almost give a pass on that. Those glasses however are not the right shape for her face

  • NOPE.

This is awkward awkward, not awkward cute. Not a thing from the hair to the glasses to the coat is working for her – but I will say, if this is without makeup? Her skin is AMAZING.

  • Rhonda Shore

OUT and the aviators are as bad as the coat.

  • Jacqueline Wessel

Nay, I think the scale of the pattern, combined with the high contrast, is too big for almost anyone to wear. Maybe Miss Darienne Lake could pull it off.

  • LaSylphide

Out. I like the coat, but it simply isn’t for her. You need some serious attitude to pull of something like that and she is just too Pollyanna-looking.

  • JP

I had to cover her head to judge as well (WTF, Anne?), but I’m still saying NAY.

  • what not

    Elfin André Leon Talley.

  • Not even Nay. FUCKING Nay.

  • Jecca2244

    that coat is HUGE.

  • crash1212

YEA! You are nuts! And I say that with love. I would take that coat off her back and wear it until it was threadbare. I especially like it with the purse – great choice. And the tights and the pumps – perfect! Not sure what’s going on with her hair, but the glasses are cute. I’m totally loving this.

  • bitchybitchybitchy

It’s not my idea of coat porn. My idea of coat porn is a well-cut trench.

  • Monabel

    I would wear it.

  • KT

I like the coat a lot, I just don’t think that Anne is the right wearer for it. It looks FAB on the model, and it seems to be deployed best in a slightly more disheveled, urban kind of approach. Pairing it with tights, black pumps, a prissy purse and some seriously goofy glasses, and this is just doesn’t work. Nay, y’all.

  • It looks like a fleece blanket that cost about 10 bucks.

  • sweetlilvoice

Out….love the girl with the ice cream colored shoes behind her though. Makes me hungry!

  • For Models Only. It looks terrible on Anne.

  • Trickytrisha

Nooo… pretty sure this belongs on a big U shaped couch in a ski lodge in New Mexico. Plus, that hair…

  • judybrowni

Maybe Bea Arthur could have rocked it on Golden Girls, but no one else.

  • Hey buddy. Lower the umbrella…lower, lower….keep going…

  • Gatto Nero

I, um, actually like it, with the sleek head, black frame glasses, black tights, and patterned bag. For some reason I’m getting Sixties graphic from this.
    Don’t hit me.

  • AzSportsGirl

I dunno, kind of MEH – but I’m DYING for your takes on her performance on Jimmy Fallon . I was ROLLING.
    “Hey Annie”
    “Yes Jimmie?”
But the REAL topic was her droopy anti-cameltoe nylon stocking jumpsuit.

    • MilaXX

UGH that thing was awful. It gave her rolls and polterwang and was just overall awful. Let us not even speak of her decision to pair it with white pumps.

    • bitchybitchybitchy

I thought that Hathaway and Fallon were hysterically funny. I couldn’t make out the details of her jumpsuit-which might be for the better.

  • Jean Beaton Leavitt

    Her neck is so exposed..nay

  • hillaryschuster

I think it looks cool as hell on the model, but it looks crazy on her. I don’t think you can wear it closed. Also: she should be punched for the Dwight Schrute glasses.

  • Carly Clement

it could bea yay…. but it would have to be undone… it is just to full of a shape for her!!

  • Agatha Guilluame

The fabric looks like what movers use to drag your heavy furniture up loading ramps. So I guess NAY.

  • WESCOBear

That’s a coat for shoplifting. It looks about four sizes too large on her.

  • Belvane

The coat, bag, glasses, and legs combo feels very 1950s to me. Think Kay Thompson in Funny Face.

  • demidaemon

I think it would help if she had opened it up like the model. Closed, as it is, it looks like a throw. Not a look for public consumption. NAY, as is.

  • trisker

    YEA! absolutely fabulous coat!

  • ThaliaMenninger

    Yeah, I kinda like it.

  • rebeemoon

I love this. But it looks too big on her. WAY too big.

  • anotherkate

Nay, nay, nay. It looks four sizes too big for her. It actually seems to fit the model and looks a bit sleeker.
Also, those glasses? Are a NO.

  • conniemd

Nay. It’s just too big and shapeless. It’s one of those outfits that works for an editorial pose or like the runway model with it open. But as wearable clothing a definite ay.

  • uprightcitizen

I say Yay. I love coats that are cut like this, even though no one owns them in San Diego. I remember women wearing coats shaped like this in Colorado (where I lived in the 80s), and you never had any idea what you were going to see when they took them off. 50s prom dress, complete with layers of tulle? Giant sweater over cuffed shorts? Skin-tight spandex skirt with a t-shirt and suspenders? It was anybody’s guess! I’m with everyone on the hair, though.

  • Lizzy

Not a fan…. of the coat or the glasses.

  • Renaissance_Man_ATL

In! I love it except for the bag.

  • ShaoLinKitten

Is she gunning for the lead in a Rachel Maddow biopic?

  • Elizabeth Szubert

I think she gets rid of the glasses and I’m on board. 🙂 But I have questionable tastes.

  • EEKstl

Yea. Love it. There – I said it.

  • Miss_Led

    Love love love it!

  • Tatiana Luján

Yeay to everything, but the tights are too big for her.

  • cocohall

i think for a big coat you need big hair. This thing makes her look like a pinhead. Alternatively, put this on Andre Leon Talley and I bet it would be fabulous. You need some edge to make this work and Anne is pretty much edgeless in features and demeanor. Its interesting that she would even attempt this. Aspirational dressing. I give her credit for trying to step a bit outside of her lane, but it really doesn’t work.

  • ankali

I’m going to go with a yea because I like the boldness, but I understand the nay arguments. This is very Pacific Northwest past-lives regression therapist.

  • fungstyle

YEA. It’s a coat that should not be worn closed by mere mortals such as Anne, but on SWINTON it would sing closed or open. I still say YEA, because Anne is mostly working it, if only due to the ease of that smile. But those Warby Parker spring line rejects have got to go.

  • i say yea on the coat, nay on the hair and glasses. she looks like pee-wee herman.

  • BrooklynBomber

She should put that coat in storage and take it out again when she’s 65.

  • GeoDiva

  • Donald Hite

It looks way too big on her. I think on the model it’s chic, on Anne it’s crazy bag lady.

  • holla

no, it’s too big on her. maybe it could have been a yes if it wasn’t too big

  • megohd

Who can see the coat with those glasses?! 80s science teacher-chic.

  • mcbishop

If I’m voting on the coat, I say yea. Don’t like the purse, the hair or the glasses with it, but…….yeah to some cozy, oversized, slightly ethnic coat action.

  • MM4321

It’s a great coat. The glasses are throwing off the entire look.

  • Therese Bohn

    Yea! Love it. Cozy!

  • Amel

NAY. Gotta agree with you, Uncles. I mean, it seems like the model had to model the heck out of that coat to get some shape into it. On a real-life person, it balloons out and looks huge and shapeless. I mean, a coat doesn’t have to be sleek to be coat porn – it can be chunky or even kind of bulky. But this just makes Anne look pillow-shaped.

  • lalahartma

    Lol! Nay.

  • AmeliaEve

NAY – This coat requires a much edgier look. Anne is just too nice for it.

  • colorjunky

That’s a lot of coat for a pinhead hair do! She looks like Mr. Peabody!

  • Yosa Addiss

Nay- it is the coat of a rich wife who works at a non-profit.

    • Columbinia

      Exactly right.

  • Columbinia

Nay. This is coat for wearing with slacks (and maybe boots) on and around your country estate, or styled to highlight its flamboyancy for arty city wear. The problem is the big, stiff shapeless sleeves. Tailoring those might take it out of Indian blanket territory.

  • Mrs. O

She’s wearing a horse blanket, boys. That makes it a “neigh”.

  • enchanted216

  • calimon

    Hell Nay!

to both the coat and the glasses

  • KC

I think it really needs to be styled and fitted. On the model it is stunning! On Anne its jus too big and shapeless!

  • somebody blonde

Nay. Once you said “Dog blanket” that was all I could see.

  • Danielle West

  • LambeeBaby

No. The coat blanket is wearing her.

  • Chuck Barthelme

It would be a great coat I think on someone about 40 years older than her. Looks like something a 60-70 year old woman with style would wear. Picturing someone with silver hair and cool glasses. It’s a museum benefactress coat. Not really suited to her though.

  • kategs

It’s a big yay! Love that coat and the specs work graphically splendidly.

  • yethica

Here’s what’s annoying me (because I KNOW you all care…): the wrinkling tights at the toebox of her shoes. Woman, get some new black tights. You can afford it.

  • OffToSeeHim

Oh, SO no. Girl, get the fuck over yourself and grow your hair back out.

  • Mousentrude

Nay. It’s too big on her – it needs to be fitted, like it is on the model, then it would be fabulous.

  • Nick Pilgrim

Does Anne have a soft spot for Nana Mouskouri?

  • Hazuki Chino

NAY!!! That coat is TEN sized too large for her (!!!), and even on the model it looks like there is half as much fabric!
