Leslie Mann in Giles at “The Other Woman” London Premiere

Posted on April 03, 2014

This is a migraine in dress form. The print makes our eyes hurt if we stare at it too long. We can feel everything go unfocused and then we have to look at the wall for a minute.

This dress is assaulting us, kittens.

Leslie Mann attends the premiere of “The Other Woman” in London in a Giles dress accessorized with Roger Vivier pumps and jewelry by EF Collection Zoe Chicco.

Giles Fall 2014 Collection

Good thing it’s kind of a cool dress. A little on the “too cute” side with that collar, which we would gladly see removed, but we suppose the spiny migraine thorns of the print help to counteract that one tiny little bit of twee. But it looks great on her and even though we’re pretty sure a cold press and a lie-down-with-the-curtains-closed is in our near future, we appreciate that she’s wearing a print on the red carpet, which is normally populated solely with the print-averse.

Pop o’color shoes would’ve been nice, though.

The dress kind of looks like Old-School 3D when you’re not wearing your glasses.

      • Evan

I was just about to type, “Does everyone have their 3D glasses ready?”

    • @Biting Panda

I like it!! She’s a little bitty thing, so the length and the fullness are quite fun.

    • MilaXX

I like everything but the collar on that dress. Would have loved a blue shoe with it.

      • decormaven

Yes, the collar seems a bit superfluous. A blue shoe would have been a nice added touch. Is this the same RC with Cameron Diaz? What a dichotomy of dresses!

        • MilaXX

          Yup same RC

      • charlotte

At least she is not sporting the hospital shoes the model is wearing!

      • what not

Yep. The shape and pattern messes with my depth perception, but that’s kind of cool. The collar just doesn’t go.

    • http://www.beautifymylifeblog.com Jessica

The silhouette is perfect on her, but the collar and the darting kind of hurt.

    • Nancer

Does anyone else wonder if she is wearing the exact same dress as the model? The print is perfectly aligned!

    • Sarah

Please don’t give me that Schoolmarm Duck look, darling. And, while I hate your dress because it represents a whole lotta features I would automatically recoil from, it works fine on you, so remember to show your teeth when you smile!

      • sojourneryouth

I can handle it, but the print just reminds me a bit too much of bad varicose veins, which is not a good thing. Also, the collar is stooooopid!

        • Sarah

I don’t like the collar, the print, the skirt, the colors, or the way the waist is cut. But that’s for me; I would automatically pass it by when I was Rich Lady Shopping. But on her, the shape and print are fine. I would sure lose that collar, though, you’re right.

    • alyce1213

I love the shape, but the print is upsetting. For cryin’ out loud, lady, comb your hair!

    • Jessica Freeman

Nix the sequin collar, add a belt to break up the pattern and she’d be on to something.

    • marlie

I can’t even look at the dress too much because that pattern is SO weird, but I like the silhouette a lot. I’m not in love with the collar, but the shoes are fine with me. I hate the “errand hair,” though, and the lipstick is a little too orange for my taste.

    • YousmelllikeAnnaWintour

This is the third look I like but hate the hair. Is today Bad Hair Day?

      • demidaemon

Yeah, that hair is atrocious. YIKES.

        • Kitten Mittons

Shame, because I really like that dress. As is, I love it on her. I’d buy it in a heartbeat with a more fitted skirt.

          • demidaemon

IDK. I’m kind of with TLo on the pattern. It’s a bit eye-searing. However, it may be a great dress for when you want to throw everyone off. A great “fucking with people dress,” as it were.

            • Kitten Mittons

              Hee. I can see that.

    • http://www.youtube.com/user/TheOctocornNetwork International Model

Leave the fake shiny collars to the British royals who refuse to wear the jewels.

    • YousmelllikeAnnaWintour

What’s going on with her makeup? She’s looking very “waxy”.

    • snarkykitten

If they ever make Portal into a movie, this is THE dress for the actress portraying Chelle to wear to the premier.

      • Kitten Mittons

        The cake is a lie!

    • http://redheadedwolf.wordpress.com/ Laura Renee

It kinda looks like…bones, to me.

      • Evan

I was thinking thorny branches or like a rose stem.

        • http://redheadedwolf.wordpress.com/ Laura Renee

Thorny branches are probably more accurate, but especially when I was looking at just the top half, I saw joints and a skeletal system.

    • Cathy S

I hate the collar, but I really love the rest of the dress. It’s groovy.

    • The Versatile Chef

I want to drop acid and check out this dress later.

    • deelup

Into the Wood sponsored by Excedrin.

    • suzq

Good Friday isn’t for another 15 days yet.

    • zenobar

Migraine Dress, exactly! I have awful shimmery pre-migraine auras that look EXACTLY like this. I get a little queasy just looking at it.

      She’s adorable though.

      • enuma

I actually had to scroll away for fear that her dress would trigger me.

    • http://armchairauthor.wordpress.com/ LesYeuxHiboux

Since I have made several fine art prints with elements similar to this I…can’t hate.

    • Danielle

The collar is my favorite part!

    • Pennymac

      Ugh! That hair!

    • MartyBellerMask

I just love her though. She really seems like she’d be a hoot to hang out with.

    • formerlyAnon

I don’t love the dress, but I like it. It has polish.

And then she ruins it with the hair. The hair looks like she put her half-dry seawater-soaked locks up while her boyfriend drove the convertible (top down) home. So much for a little polish.

    • crash1212

This is a cool dress. Would’ve only been made cooler sans the sequined collar. WTF?

    • Christine Hart

This is an Elizabeth Banks dress.

    • Stella Zawistowski

I unreservedly love the dress, pattern and all. Want want want.

    • Lilak

History has shown us that Miss Leslie CAN wear a dress like this, and she’s doing a fine job here.
But the hair–oh the hair!–is appalling.

    • frannyprof

I can’t with that collar. The print would be good on a skirt, but not a whole dress, I think.

    • B_C_J

I really like this dress. The pattern is very edgy & yet the design of the dress is not. It makes for a nice counterbalance. However she needed a better hairdo.

    • ThaliaMenninger

While it does look better on her than on the runway, that collar and the asymmetry of the pattern are not my friends.

      • Shawn EH

Yes, the shoes are chic (no color can compete with that print), but the hair is starving Dickens schoolmarm.

    • Sabin

A crown of thorns dress. Ick.

    • stellamaris73

The orange lipstick trend needs to die.

      • kimmeister

I don’t like orange lipstick in general, but hers is more coral and I think it’s working better than straight orange.

    • altalinda

Gosh that hair color looks bad for her complexion.

    • Carleenml

can we please just knock her down and rip off the collar? I think it would be SO great without it.

    • stubbornthoughts

Peter Pan collar by Claire’s. Otherwise, this dress is fitting for Leslie. Agree about the pop of color shoes, that would’ve off set the design well.

    • E. D.

I really like it, but it seems just a little too long.

    • wontons

I almost like it. The scale of the pattern just dwarfs her (and the runway model).

    • Jacob Bowen

I hate the way the dress puffs out at the waist…it is such a weird hip shape.

    • strawberryshake

      Kind of love it

    • http://phantomminuet.blogspot.com/ MinAgain

I love this dress. And you can tell she likes wearing it.

    • quiltrx

Cool dress, but can do without the Etsy-ish collar.

    • MyFavoriteColorIsGlitter

What TLo said about the shoes. Would have loved to see that bright sky blue pulled out for the foot.

    • Fuchsiaforever

The silhouette of the dress is cool but the crazy print and the paillettes need to GO.

    • mjmiller77

Nice. Get rid of the neck piece, and it would be better. The shape looks a bit off to me, perhaps a little too much skirt volume.

    • EEKstl

No one is in the “pop of color shoe” camp more thn I am, but I think with this print erring on the conservative side was a smart choice.

    • http://thishotoldbroad.blogspot.com/ Sara Leigh Merrey

That print immediately says Maleficent’s thorny trees surrounding what’s-her-names castle. Sleeping Beauty? Whatever. That’s all I can think of.

    • cocohall

To me, this dress is a perfect representation of her persona – harsh, aggressive, but with a tiny bit of sweetness (the collar) thrown in. I have no idea what she is like in real life, but she plays this sort of character very well. I’m not sure if finding a dress that embodies your screen persona is a good thing, but she has nailed it.

    • embers618

The print reminds me of those pictures that you are supposed to look at with 3D glasses, the way the blue and orange surrounds the thorns. Anyone have 3D glasses so you can give it a try?

    • melanie0866

      Love the shape, though.

    • Clash D

Shit – it is actually inducing a migraine right now. Not snarking. Hate the sequined collar.

    • MannahattaMamma

game o’thorns … but she looks happy. maybe because she’s inside the thorns looking out, and not outside having to look in.

    • MM4321

The dress is super cute. As is she except . . . is it just me or does she have serious duck face going on?
