Oh my, that looks all kinds of ugly in real life. And those satiny pleated high waisted pants are dreadful, such a garment should not exist.

    • schadenfreudelicious

Are those truly the same pants?…they look like they should be the lining on a much nicer pair of pants…horribly unflattering from every angle..

      • Lucía Gavello

They are not the same, hers look like they were made of a roadside motel bedskirt.

        • schadenfreudelicious

I realized they were not the same after i took a second look, you are dead-on with the motel bedskirt comparison..cheap and flammable looking…

    • jw_ny

I’m going to go out on a limb here and guess those pants were not a big seller at that H & M opening, after they saw Frieda modeling them.. ;)

    • 3boysful

The top had the gist of a good idea, and its lower half is interesting, but it makes her look wide and waist-less, which she most certainly is not.

    • lunchcoma

Like the top. Loathe the pants.

    • alyce1213

      Waist up, beautiful. Downward, TRAGIC.

    • PinkyAndNoBrain

Scroll-down thought process: Oh, I don’t really like it, that poofy skirt with the boxy top just looks so odd, maybe it’d look better (not good, but better) with a nice skinny pant like the model’s wearing, and the shoes are a little — OH MY GOD THOSE ARE PANTS HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE.

That might’ve been an overreaction, but I really don’t think there’s a single way you could make those pants look worse without calling upon animal prints.

    • Chuck Barthelme

For one, the pants should not have been changed to satin, or made so billowy. In that one shot it almost looks like they have a fly. Awful, awful. And two, even if they had been the same as the model’s, I can’t help but think that she would have just ended up looking like a parody of a bullfighter.

    • http://armchairauthor.wordpress.com/ LesYeuxHiboux

      Sweet Baby Jesus, my eyes.

    • decormaven

The shoes are the capper here. Just because there are embellishments available doesn’t mean every honkin’ thing needs to display them.

    • Capt. Renault

Umm, how to say this, but — are the pants culturally-appropriate for her, in a way I’m not personally familiar with?

      • alyce1213

I don’t think that’s an issue, those pants aren’t appropriate for any culture. The shoes, probably.

        • demidaemon

NO SHIT. I haven’t had such a visceral reaction to a starlet’s look in a long time, but this one is just setting off all of my “WRONG!” buttons.

      • http://foodycat.blogspot.co.uk/ Alicia

Yes, there is a mysterious tribe of Indian women who wear badly creased satin palazzo pants on a Thursday. No one has ever been able to find out why.

    • KateShouldBeWorking

Sleep with one eye open, Frieda; someone hates you.

    • http://www.youtube.com/user/TheOctocornNetwork International Model

It makes a better vest than a top.

    • Constant Reader

I’m not in love with the top — it makes her look shapeless — but the bottom half is a crime against fashion. The fit is horrible and the puckering at the inseam and hem is worse. Ugh. She is gorgeous and deserves much better.

    • Ginger

Even the model is pissed that she has to wear that fug.

    • Danielle

      Scrolldown fug.

    • what not

I actually like the torero silhouette of the model’s top and pants; you don’t see it often and it’s an interesting take on proportions. And at least those two pieces share embroidery, so there’s some there there. Freida’s combo is of completely unrelated pieces (texture, sheen, style–everything but color saturation), and it makes her look both boxy and baggy. And the seams are poorly done. A total outfit failure. Blargh.

    • KT

That top is so cool, but those pants are an ATROCITY!!!!

    • Aurora Leigh

I should be a crime to put a woman this beautiful in clothes that ugly.

      • kimmeister

        You are not a crime!
        That face though. Breathtaking.

    • Roz

Palazzo pants, eh? These actually might look better as cut-offs. Worn with high heels. In a LA parking lot. Aw, just Reese-ing around with you, Freida!

    • Jacob Bowen

From the waist up, YES, but wow. That bottom half is not so great, and her toes look like they will hurt later!

    • Stefanie Argudo Mackenzie

Well, we know where the ’80’s Hammer pants wound up. Those shoes must have come from a shell store here in Fl..

    • marlie

Oh, FREIDA. It looks like she’s wearing an elaborate life vest. Those high-waisted, pleated, satiny pants need to be burned right now. And I don’t even have the words for those shoes. From the neck up, though, she’s gorgeous.

    • http://foodycat.blogspot.co.uk/ Alicia

      Heinous pants.

    • Latin Buddy

The vest(?) and shoes are amaze…but those pants! GROSS

    • ashtangajunkie

      Oh sweet merciful crap.

    • Wink

“When Bad Clothes Happen to Beautiful People.” Coming soon to a theater near you.

    • bunnydiet

Bedroom slippers should be left at home!

    • Synnae

Ew. There are some nice items in that new Conscious collection but not combined like this. And those pants are shitty quality even for H&M standards.

    • MilaXX

Nooooooooooo! This is the one time I wish she had copied the model. Satin NEVER works if it’s borrowed. Look at that crazy hem! Jazz shoes do not distract from bad pants.

    • ellatheingenue

      what

    • BrianaJC

does anything match in this picture? blech

    • Janet B

      The model’s attitude is fantastic.

    • boweryboy

For a split second I thought it was Salma Hayek.

And no H&M. No matter how gorgeous the women wearing it is, your Conscious Collection – excuse me Conscious Exclusive Collection- is hiddy to the max divided by the square root of fugly .

Even the model is trying to hide how ugly the outfit is.

      • Judih1

“hiddy to the max divided by the square root of fugly” – that is a line that I MUST borrow for future posts. Well said

      • demidaemon

        Fashion algebra! I love it!

    • KendraMR

She is too cute for such an ugly outfit.

    • Imasewsure

That is some ugly sh*t… why can’t we have discount fashion and high fashion and not try to blend the two?…. it’s fine really … leave it…

    • Tracy_Flick

      Life jacket plus parachute. Yuck.

    • crash1212

Those are some cheap-ass ugly pants. WTF? I don’t love any of this, but the pants the model has on are at least interesting to look at.

    • Lori

Everything I’ve seen from this Conscious Collection has been bad. So bad that my inner cynic is starting to suspect it’s a strategy. We tried to sell sustainable goods, but the market didn’t want them. Don’t blame us.

    • Gauss

Those pants look incredibly cheap, ugly and ill-fitting. I hope she got paid a lot of money to wear this atrocious outfit.

    • SophieCollier

Those pants are hilarious. Otherwise, she looks nice.

    • PastryGoddess

Is she turning into a Mocktress? If so that is sad, because she actually has talent

    • bellai

3 toes is just too much. Pencil skirt would have been great if she wasn’t comfortable with the slim trouser seen on the model (who WORE the hell out of that ensemble!).

    • quiltrx

I think the top has to have the matador pants to work. The blousy (OMG THE COLOR DOESN’T MATCH MY EYE IS TWITCHING) satiny pants make it look sloppy AND make her look really stumpy.

      • Gatto Nero

Yes, the top needs the more structured pant. Plus the shiny fabric and sloppy construction of the pair she’s wearing make them unworkable with anything at all.

    • CB

      Dafuq am I looking at?

    • CT14

Those pants shouldn’t be anywhere near that top.

    • ankali

The top and the pants don’t have anything to do with each other, and the pants are ugly. And her hair sucks. And her earrings are nice.

      • GillianHolroyd

The slightly off-center part! But a chignon would’ve been lovely.

    • GillianHolroyd

Love the outfit on the model and especially love the shoes.

Her pants are unfortunate but I don’t set the bar high when it comes to H&M. OTOH, satin pants have a high failure rate and they should have known that at the onset.

    • LeelaST

The top is pretty but a little bulky, the pants are horrible – very cheap. Those shoes give the impression that the top embellishment has crept down her body.

    • http://gabyrippling.tumblr.com/ Gaby

I’m pretty sure that the vest she’s wearing is at least a size or two too big – it looks like a bolero on the model. I love the vest – hate her pants (though the pants the model is wearing are fab and I might go to H&M and look for both pieces). The shoes look like they’re made of the scrap bin from a drapery store.

    • demidaemon

NO. No. NO. NO. NO. NO.

HIDEOUSNESS. I feel like I need a font size change to express how much I hate this look from neck to toe.

    • Hermitage

Why did she change the pants? It completely ruins the ‘matador’ look the model is wearing. The Bolero looks like it was adjusted (in addition to being too large). Makes No Sense.

    • BackseatDriver

Anyone who did tech for theater knows that not all blacks are the same tone. Match your blacks sweetheart. It won’t rescue this outfit but it would help a great deal. Also, if you wanted some flowy comfortable pants, leave the shiny silk and get some crepe de chine instead.

    • http://tvblogster.blogspot.com Boop

The pant material reminds me of those Halloween costumes you use to buy when you were a kid. (Or when I did – back the 70’s). Wish she had gone with the original pants the model is wearing. I do love the idea of this, but it’s not working. Trousers are a mess. The pleats, the seams, the shine, the pulling. Yikes.

    • Frankie Carter

Remember Christina Hendricks in Satan’s pants? I think they just made a reappearance in satin form. Those things are “burn it up ugly,” as my Gran used to say.

Also, is that some major creasing or an unfortunately placed girdle making those horizontal lines? Or does she have something tucked in? I’m confused.

    • Pterodactyl111

Ugh, I liked it alright until I realized it was pants.

    • MartyBellerMask

Is it bad that this is actually my favorite thing so far from that collection? It’s HORRIBLE. But the rest have been worse.

    • Sophie

Why didn’t she keep the original trousers? The outfit looks really interesting on the model.

    • Dagney

Those pants are a little amateur hour. LOVE the shoes.

    • shelley514

The styling on the model with completely different pants and shorter vest is perfection. Giving all sorts of bull fighter vibes. It should have been styled similarly for Frieda.

    • anotherkate

The pants are hiddy, but I love the shoes. I could take or leave the top.
